Emperor Benton Abdicates!

Tudar City: An unexpected change was brought about today when Emperor Benton Tirian brought to a close his thirty-two years of rule by abdicating the throne of Grigala. The famous leader’s wish was that the people of Grigala would finally get to vote on a ruler, but arrangements for the election are still being made. Spokesmen for the ex-Emperor have stated that the Emperor has no favorite for the upcoming election; however, he hopes that someone who is “fair and just” will take his place. Even now, various political groups have endorsed their candidates and have made arrangements for election tours. Eddie Pharleon, spokesperson for the Whitewing party, has given his statement to a reporter for the Daily News. “I believe that this is a great loss for our people and for Grigala as a whole. I can only hope that someone who can fulfill the legacy of such great a man has the…

Mantina Elected Regent!

Tudar City: The Grigalan Senate has chosen a regent to hold effectual power in Grigala until the election next month. After fierce debate and twenty-six ballots, Senator William J. Mantina (Ww) of Apatsa has been elected. Representatives of the newly-elected regent have been unable to be contacted, but in a Press Conference this morning, ex-emperor Benton Tirian has expressed his support for Mantina and the Whitewing party. Mantina has campaigned extensively for the Whitewing spot on the grand election ballot, and currently has an 8% lead in the polls, followed by Kavin Tirian (Rw), the ex-Emperor’s grandnephew. The first televised debate is scheduled for…

Public Election Called Off!

Tudar City: Public shock and disapproval were common today when, in a May Day surprise, the Grigalan Senate voted to call off the general election formerly scheduled for the 26th of this month. Spearheaded by Kavin Tirian, the Rosewater-dominated senate passed a bill turning over all responsibilities of electing a successor for ex-Emperor Benton to the Senate itself. Large protests and mass demonstrations of disgust and indignity have already started around the country. Outspoken and overruled, sixteen Whitewing senators held a protest in the senate building itself, the first such protest in forty years. Both William Mantina and ex-Emperor Benton have held Press Conferences denouncing the Senate’s actions. “It is a sure sign of a country leading away from democracy when a publicly-elected body denounces its roots and destroys the very foundation of a democratic state - the right to vote.” The ex-Emperor said at his Press Conference earlier today. “The right to vote is…

Massive Protest Breaks out in Apatsa!

Apatsa: In response to yesterday’s bill calling off the first public election for Emperor in Grigala’s history, citizens of Apatsa are staging a large scale protest. The protest has, so far, remained non-violent; however, local police are on alert. The protest is being held outside of City Hall, and contains between five hundred and one thousand men and women from all ranks of life, from homeless beggars to wealthy businessmen. When local reporters attempted to approach the protestors in the hopes of getting an official statement, they were unable to discern any specific phrase from the jumble of pro-democratic slogans. William Mantina has, however, given the press his statement in support of the protesters. “The road to democracy was stalled by a brick wall of the senate’s construction that these people are attempting to tear down.” He then proceeded to apologize for his confusing analogy.

Protesters Assault Policeman!

Apatsa: Today, the formerly peaceful election protest in Apatsa turned bloody when a young police officer, trying to protect a visiting government official from blows from the crowd, was shot by an angry protester. Brendan Fraiser*, 26, of Apatsa was shot in the upper hip and was rushed to Bergen Hospital, where he remains unconscious and in critical condition. Police have instituted a press lock requiring the press, both public and private, to say nothing about the incident excluding only the basic facts. It is currently unknown what path the police intend to take at this point; however, they have released to us and allowed us to print that they have confirmed that the official was the intended target. Despite this incident, the protesters are still marching in circles in front of City Hall, their number a few less than this morning. Many of them have gone home, disgusted by this violent act. The gunman has been arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder.

Disaster in Apatsa! Military Mobilized, Scores Dead!

Apatsa: Confirmation came today that Brendan Fraiser, 26, of Apatsa, has died of his wounds at Bergen Hospital in Apatsa at 7:03 this morning. In response to this young man’s untimely death, many people have started protests protesting the action of the protestor who shot Fraiser. The Senate, outraged over this act of brutality, has called an emergency vote to mobilize the military against the election protestors. After a 78/22 vote in favor of mobilization, the 18th infantry brigade has mobilized out of Fort Samsung to disperse the protestors in Apatsa. When the military reached the site of the protest, many of the protestors fled, yet some remained adamant. Witnesses at the scene report that one young officer started taunting the protestors. In response, one of the protestors shot at the officer, and the soldiers were ordered to return fire. Again, many protestors fled but some of them, in an act of defiance, tried to attack the soldiers. Casualty reports state that, of the protestors who remained, 59 were killed and 47 more were wounded. Military casualties were relatively low with 4 dead and 18 wounded. 56 protestors have been arrested on various charges ranging from assault to treason. Many public figures have given statements both in support and against the military action. The most stunning of these was made by Kavin Tirian, who stated that…
