My miltary is not low tech some of my army is armed with older guns but 90% of the army is armed with weapons 5 years and newer. My aircarft are all farily new.

How can your small nation and "good" economy fuel this MASSIVE war machine? Scandinvans this is a clear godmod, you need to reduce the size of your army drastically, possibly by 75% or MORE.

To finance this military your soldiers would have to have training equivalent to somali militia and equipment similar to Boer war weapons.

Let us to a little comparsion Germany had a army in the millions at the beggining of World War II and they were all well trained and well armed so it and my nation is large enough to boast such an army.

Bullshit, Germany didn't have anything like that. I didn't have anywhere near that amount of tanks, aircraft, infantry, OR ships. You are completely bullshitting Scandinvans - you cannot afford this military and in the first sign of use in a REAL rp against PROPER Rpers it will collapse in a second. Your people must be starving. On another side Germany was not armed with the weapons you boast, like MODERN AIRCRAFT CARRIERS, HELICOPTERS, OR MODERN TANKS.

My nation's arms are made in factories owned by the state and the resources for the arms are mined by the state. In theory that wouldgive me a monoply enough to produce these weapons at a far lower expense then ones proudced by corporations. All my wrokers are paid.

The active Army for the U.S. is 79,000. If you figure the total active duty personel for the entire military at 250,000 (extremely excessive) then figure that your nation has 3x as many people and more in the budget so say your entire military comes to about 800,000 or to be very generous 1 million. You have 15 Million "Regular Troops" in your army alone.

Your nation is smaller than China. China claims to have the largest standing military in the world with 3 million soldiers, only 20% of your "regular Soldiers"

Figuring you take out the cost of production and everything down to 0 (Impossible) your matinence would still be crazy. Say that your costs for production were cut down to 10% and you didnt have any mantinence, then put your balance between China and the U.S. and you come up with 20 million TOTAL.

Okay, first off, this isn't as far off the mark as some of you seem to be thinking. However, it is indeed a bit much.

Now, for starters, I'm going to give a conservative estimate of 25 million personnel all told. That includes the necessary support for the huge air force and navy, as well as the ground forces. This also assumes that the ground forces are including all personnel. If those are just combat troops, it has to be multiplied several times over, and will easily be too much.

25 million is 2.668% of 937 million. This is too high. A 33% reduction in total personnel is required to drop it to the MAXIMUM peacetime force. However, if a major opponent that provides a constant threat cannot be provided, that should become a 50-60% decrease. You have to have a very good reason to have such an oversized army.
WWII comparison is not quite appropriate, due to both the lower requirements of the equipment and the nature of the war. Plus, IT WAS DURING A WAR. Hardly applicable in peacetime, don't you think?

Well, back to that 25 million. This is for a nation of 937 million with a good economy, so lets say $20,000 GDP per capita (for once, Thirdgeek and I are in agreement). That provides a GDP of $18.74 trillion. Now, a high-end realistic budget would be 7% of the GDP, or $1.3118 trillion (Thridgeek's budget breakdowns are utter crap and complete BS, and I pity anyone who treats them as anything more than a very vague recommendation).
Divided by 25 million, and you get an average spending of $52,472 per soldier.
Now, while not that bad, that's not all that much, and is sufficient for a rather well trained (but poorly equipped) army, a rather well equipped (but poorly trained) army, or a moderately trained and equipped army. What you cannot have is a military with all top-of-the-line equipment, or a well trained and equipped army. There just isn't the funding for that. A truly modern army would require easily 3-4 times the funding for that many personnel, and that's just not going to happen.


In the end, my best recommendation is a 50% cut in all personnel and equipment numbers across the board. That will bring this to something that perfectly acceptable.

As for the draft, it again is not something that a nation could, or would, do without the threat of imminent conflict. Unless you have someone who's currently ready and willing to start a major war with you, it shouldn't be happening.

My nation's army is also th police force. The army is also armed with guns mostly that are rifles that are modern but are cheap to create like the AK-47's.

My nation's army air force amd army are all made in nation owned factories in order to maintian my current forces.
