THE ALTOGETHER--An unsigned letter found on the floor of Sidestreamer's former Foreign Minister and Hezbol CEO Archbishop Hesphophles's office details a plot to "accelerate weapons production" by "stirring a conflict through alternative channels."

Discovered by a janitor who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal against Hezbol and the Emperor of Sidestreamer, the memo, addressed to "Halotone," gave explicit details concerning a peacekeeping mission from the Armed Republic of Methyr, referring to it as a "potential market."

"I see an opportunity here," the letter, written on government stationery, read. "I would like for you to assess the situation there. Send some of your boys over, and tell M-train to make the preparations."

Hesphophles was not available for comment.

The assasination of Anias NytDraken last week has led to accusations against Sidestreamer's government, and drew a heated denial from Emperor Maximus IV of any involvement in the attack.

Methyr

Methyrian intelligence picked this up over seas. Now they were certain that the Empire had sent the assassin. Their military of 8 million was strong enough to take on the empire. With only a million over fighting in Finland, they disembarked 3 million to the Empires border. All soldiers were armed with AK-47s and a number of armored divisions and air strength supported them. They offered the empire a temporary peace treaty to try and resolve matters the civil way.

OOC:
8 million? That's, presently, half your population; an impossible level of mobalization to sustain, even if they're all barely trained peasents.

[OOC: Your population is 16 million, which means 50% of your population is in the military, which is an utter godmod. I suggest you change that.

Even further, the entire post is a godmod. This is ignored, unless it is changed.]

Dmitry looked over the papers, being one of the many advisors of intelligence to the Party, but he seemed rather concerned. While the war raged in the north, he had to keep tabs especially on the nation of Truitt, which lingered so near. But one slip of information was put on his desk. As he took the memo, he was alerted of a certain newsfeed from a nation that had been put on a watch list for a while now, since the establishment of the Moral Alliance. He looked over it and then looked to the short dossier that had been collected on Methyr. He thought for a moment. To involve the FPCB, would be slightly foolish and draining of resources. But... There was something else. The LJFA, but Condorcanqui was in Bolivia. Still, someone could be contacted.

He picked up the phone, and soon enough, he got the League building operator.

"Could you please patch me to Mr. Santana. Thank you."

He waited for a moment, until the line was connected. Apparently, it wasn't such a busy day.

"Yes, Jose?"

"Moltenskoi? What is it?"

"I am faxing you a few memos on a certain situation we have. Perhaps we wish to get involved."

"You mean..?"

"If required, I want you to review the situation. It won't take too long."

"Condorcanqui and Bittencourt are both in the field."

"Which means you can make the decisions."

"Very well Dmitry, I will talk to you soon."

OOC: ... uh, hold on we need to think this out. That's messed up. I'm twice your size and I'd have a very hard time rapidly forming an army of 8 million, even as defense-minded as I am. I'm only regarding the temporary peace treaty until this is straightened out.

IC:
Setting: Temple of the Altogether: Situation Room. Emergency War Cabinet Conference.

Maximus IV has recieved news from Foreign Minister Archbishop Ambicus concerning the threat of hostilities from Methyr. With them is Sidestreamer Intelligence Ministry director General Wenderfel, Sidestreamer Naval commander Admiral Emphrine, Sidestreamer Joint Land Force commander General Julius, and Sidestreamer Public Relations Minister Verbosal.

The cabinet has gathered around a large, cherry oak roundtable in the Situation Room at 4 a.m, the morning after recieving Methyr's notice. A videoscreen comes down in front of the room, which is brightly lit by ornate halogen lamps placed at each corner of the room. The 9'x16' cloth of the Blue Ice Dragon emblem that adorns the flag of Sidestreamer drapes neatly from the south wall, next to the door to the North Rotunda of the Temple.
A Bible lays on the center of the table. Designer gold-plated pens and stands stand by each seat (16 seats total). A plasma television (currently off) is embedded in the east wall.

Ambicus: Emperor, there is a situation from the Armed Republic of Methyr. That report of that memo reported by the Star has spread out, and I'm afraid they're implicating us with this assasination.

Maximus IV: I am aware of it. Hesphophles never consulted me about this, though I found his departure odd. I believe there's a connection... Wenderfel, have you been able to contact Hesphophles?

Wenderfel: No, Emperor. In fact, I personally visited his residence and it appeared vacated--

Maximus IV: (sighs, grunting) Shit.

Wenderfel: --As for the memo, although the details of how this memo was discovered appears sketchy so far, the fact that none of us was able to locate Hesphophles gives us reason to believe that there may be some credibility to LJEX's broadcast. You must realize however, we have only begun the investigation. By noon today we can begin questioning the Hesbol maintenance crew on who has the memo, but keep in mind, we all know Hesphophles personally, and he's a bit of a my-way-or-the-highway kind of guy. If anyone was to ruin him, losing their job would be the least that would happen to them. But by the morning we can begin work at the plant.

Maximus IV: And the memo referred to a "Halotone." Have any information on who this "Halotone" is?

Wenderfel: Based on the LJEX report's description, it is possible he could be within my own agency. I find that highly unlikely, however, and I suspect this is another LJEX lie. Those Jew bastar--

Maximus IV: (loud) Thank you General. (returning to normal tone) I authorize you to retain the employees as necessary to retract information, per... whatever that statute is. Excuse me, I'm exhausted--

Wenderfel: (chuckles) so am I! I think we are all!

Maximus IV: Anyway, Julius, we have been operating under Code 2 I understand, so some of our millitia has been activated as is?

Julius: Yes, but, and allow me to complain, Emperor, but your excessive expansion of the Moral Alliance has taken funds from our department. Our fleet of 50 Abraham tanks needs to be updated, expanded and refurbished, and frankly we are not ready for deployment. If you want to declare Code X, we can train and equip an conscript army of 1 million in 16 weeks, but, even though I'm not (economic adviser) Verde, it doesn't take his expertise to realize the devastation that would have on domestic markets.
The best we can hope for is to contact (turns to Ambicus) our allies at the Militarstic Legions and assume they will stand to our defense. Alone, to put it bluntly, even God can't save us.

Maximus IV: (heatedly) I'm working on defense contracts right now, but mission first. The Moral Alliance has been quite successful, and we can get more from their protection than from refurbishing the tanks and developing our proposed air force. But I assure you, we are going to cover it, sooner rather than later. For now, Wenderfel, I want you to begin the investigation of Hezbol, and if they aren't cooperative, I authorize you to seize all assets until they answer our questions. Also, start looking into Methyr's military strength. They claim to have an army of 8 million, but you know, for a country of 16, that sounds like fairy tale to me. Start looking them up.

Wenderfel: Yes Emperor!

Maximus IV: And Ambicus, I want you to contact Methyr and tell them that we did not approve of this assasination, and let them know that we are investigating and will cooperate with them. I do NOT want an armed conflict with them, especially at this time. We are not ready for it.

Ambicus: I will telephone them and arrange a meeting, discussing our intentions. Should we establish a liason with the SIM?

Wenderfel: If they're willing to cooperate, certainly we can jointly investigate this, although we must be careful not to let them get out of hand, you know? I mean, foreign investigators... I thought we were fighting the UN over this kind of thing?

Maximus IV: Let them make the determinations concerning a "joint investigation," and until then, no, there will be no liason. And with that, I think we'll adjourn this meeting. I have a round of golf I need to get to. Everyone, Godspeed!
