Sheva

The Confederacy of miehm is making available a limited number of SHEVA guns for sale to the defenders of the free world. Each SHEVA is a 1 billion dollar investment that is armed with a 16 inch cannon that fires shells with high yield explosive payloads. It is almost 10 stories tall and 3 times as wide. it is powered by a set of six Johannes-Cummings pebble bed fission reactors. There is absolutely no risk of meltdown because it uses layers of carbon wrapped around uranium flecks to mitigate the reaction. Coolant leaks are not radioactive because the coolant system uses helium, which is incapable of transferring radiation. Its secondary armament is composed of 12 M1-E tank turrets imbedded in the main gun mantlet. The turrets are armed with 120 mm cannon. Close defense is handled by 20 mm chain guns on the sides and front, the highest being no more than 15 feet above ground level.

what exactly does this thing do? is it mobile? if so how does it move, if not then what is the point? why do you need so much power for a bunch of guns? more description please!

It is a Mobile gun platform much like a tank in nature designed for direct combat support of engaged divisions and indirect fire on entrenched enemies. It requires massive energy because it is massive, theres not enough deisel in the world to keep it running for very long.

[ooc]

The Sheva Gun comes from John Ringo's book When the Devil Dances. this is part of a four-book set beginning with A Hymn Before Battle and ending in Hell's Faire, about an invasion of the Earth by carnivourous (and colossally stupid) aliens known as the P'osleen.
The Sheva is designed as a mobile "Lander Killer". It tops out around 30 miles an hour, has a crew of 3, and requires a Battalion per gun to maintain. (though it only needs a three man crew to operate.)

whats to stop a pair of A-10's blowing one of these to smithereens?

What's to stop a pair of A-10's from blowing anything to smithereens? a Sheva is not really a practical machine for combating a modern, combined-arms force. It's a Great way to blow up spaceships piloted by low-grade morons whose idea of 'tactics' is to run overwhelming numbers of even-dumber (but natural hipshooters) "Normals" across the field in a frontal attack.

The only thing that can stop a pair of A-10's from blowing any military vehicle that isn't a Jet-Fighter or Submarine away, is air superiority. A-10's can't operate effectively against air-superiority craft, and aren't meant to operate in unfriendly skies without fighter support.

OOC:
The books didn't allow the aliens or humans to have airpower.
So the answer is, nothing much. But he left out the 6" plate armour and a few other bits and bobs. Go read the books.

The 6" plate isn't armour, it's structural. NOT resistant to 30mm cannons.

OOC: Bun Bun WAS armored and that was what I based my design off of. I wondered when somebody who'd read the books would show up and they were not morons, tulostenaloor was certainly capable of combined arms combat and Bun Bun + chans metalstorms wailed on him.

OOC: to stop the whining I will provide full statistics in a detailed manner. straight from the book. gun is shortened by half because of impracticality of 200 foot gun against anything moderneven as artillery, FT nations can order with standard 200 foot barrel for anti-lander ops
