Government to Begin Robotic Soldier Research
(ANNA) - Regensberg, Avadria
Today the government announced the start of a research program that would hope to yield a fully operational, humanoid warrior within fifteen to twenty years. The program will be a joint venture between Gelinka Heavy Manufacturing, Avadrian Royal Motorworks, the Ministry of Military Science, and the Ministry of Military Affairs. The Ministry of Military Science appointed robotics expert Doctor Zal Tremana to head the project. Gelinka was granted the exclusive contract to manufacture the robots upon their completion, while ARM will provide specific materials and aid in the research effort. The project as a whole is being funded by the Ministry of Military affairs who will be have exclusive use of the machine.
'Tetra Vaal' is what Doctor Tremana christened the group which consists of nearly 100 scientists, engineers, and technicians. Tremana has promised to give the government a fully working prototype in at least seven years, but ideally wants to have a final product almost five years before the deadline.
The robot will in no way serve as a replacement to the military's infantry, but will instead serve to police unstable lands under Avadrian control. There is the potential of a special unit in the army being created which would utilize the machines for high risk missions that could prove exceptionally dangerous to the average infantryman.
