DAFP Joint Readiness Training Centre now open

Cadillac-Gage

211,250 Acres of muddy scrubland, bordering tundra to the north, and mountains to the east and south. In the summer, the temperatures here range from 55 Degrees Farenheit to a balmy 75, with almost twenty hours of sunlight.
In the winter, temperatures range between 32 degrees Farenheit, to minus Fifty, with four hours of daylight in every 24.
Cold, muddy, miserable training.
Good training.

Two "Urban training areas" filled with shoot-houses, tunnels, and pop-up targets.
Four live-fire artillery ranges
six live-fire tank ranges.

dozens of maneuver zones, and staffed by a 'live' Opfor.

This is the DAFP's first 'international' training centre-located a convenient three hours from Cadillac Gage's largest city of Todos Santos.

The JRTC is a giant manuever and tactics facility designed to provide members of the Democratic Alliance of Free Peoples with the hardest, most extensive, joint-operations training available, under the most trying conditions we can come up with.

This is high-stress, high-intensity training. Whether rotations are here to practice night-combat, cold-weather training, manuever combat under bad conditions, or just gaining experience, the JRTC facility provides.

Units rotating in for training arrive at the airfield-which, depending on the season, is either steamed out onto the frozen-lake, or built with steelmesh panels on one of the many broad, flat, sandy areas. Here, at 'reception' units unload their vehicles and equipment, tune it in at the firing and driving ranges, and settle in for three months of harsh testing, culminating in one of a dozen different resisted-training scenarios. For three months, a unit on rotation here will eat, sleep, and live under the closest simulation to wartime conditions possible short of a real-live war, under conditions that can mildly be described as 'trying' or 'harsh.'

It's all about learning to be ready.

The OpFor here, is not composed of the troops of one member-nation, but of several members of the DAFP-the Democratic Alliance of Free Peoples. Opfor training teaches participating troops from different states to work as a team, to learn the strengths of one another, and how to simulate the behaviour of a variety of hostile nations-thus learning to predict a potential enemy's move, before he makes it.
They also learn (obviously) how to utilize the terrain and conditions here, becoming expert at low-visibility, cold weather, mountain, and tundra conditions.

If this programme succeeds, other branch centres will hopefully open in member-states with warm-weather deserts, jungles, and mild-temperate conditions.

SOFA-Status of Forces Agreement

Soldiers assigned by their member-state to 'permanent party' status as OpFor at the JRTC in Cadillac Gage are provided with protection in the form of the Status of Forces Agreement-they are, under SOFA, exempt from prosecution by our local Authorities for Misdemeanour crimes including Driving while intoxicated, underage alcohol consumption, minor vandalism, and other class-A misdemeanors. This does not mean it's a license to go wild, merely that a violator will be turned over to his chain of command for disciplinary action, rather than facing civilian courts.
Most crimes covered in the SOFA are also covered under various member-militaries' regulations. The SOFA merely means that a member-military has total control of their soldiers under the law, and that member soldiers need not worry about double-jeapordy issues-i.e. only one prosecution, instead of two.

Crimes not covered under the SOFA include:

Statutory Rape of a Minor under the age of 15
Murder of a civilian outside of the border of the JRTC military reservation
Sexual Assault of any kind.
Sale (but not purchase or possession) of illicit, addictive substances to a Civilian or citizen of Cadillac-Gage.
Grand Theft.
Extortion
Racketeering.
Kidnapping.
Terrorist acts (non-training)
Class-"A" felonies (Fraud, etc.)

Such crimes are first referred to a soldier's member-state, or the command of JRTC, but Cadillac-Gage reserves the right to pursue prosecution of any perpetrator of the above actions should the violator's chain of command decline their right to prosecute.

The Aequatian Armed Forces are interested in being a part of this international training opportunity. With the furthur development of our armoured forces, we are constantly looking for newer ways in which to make them fully battle capable.

For the moment, we would like to send a battalion-sized force for training purposes and provide whatever logistical forces and target vehicles for the range work.
