A deadly find ((Open RP))
Date: March 21st, 2016
Time: 2317 Hours (11:17 PM)
Location: Arkwright Encampment, Arbolith Jungle, 20 miles SE of Exrenian capital Jovae.
In the dark, starry night, a team of Exrenian scientists of the new company Arkwright Inc. mysteriously vanished. All crew members, including scientists, documentarians, and guards are missing, a distress beacon sent out just minutes before the hour. A small team from the ENN is on location, pestering the captain of the search and rescue team with questions, questions he either doesn't know the answer to or won't answer.
Captain Axon takes a cigarette from his vest pocket and lights it up. He and his team survey the environment. All equipment is accounted for, no gunshells, no sign of struggle. Everyone seemed to up and vanish with no reason. "Where do you think they have gone?" asked the annoying reporter, constantly waving her mic in front of his face. Axon pushed it away forcefully. "Unless they became tree-hugging hippies," he started ", I don't think they would leave this outpost. Chimera's are most common here, and since no gunfire ever happened, it's impossible to explain." The reporter continued. "Do you think it was the work of terrorists?" Axon took a puff from his cigarette, blowing a smoke cloud at the woman. "Like I said, it's impossible to explain." Before the reporter could ask another question, Axon motioned for his escorts to keep them out of his sight. He continued on into the main tent, scoping the area for anything suspicious. He then saw a new recruit had already beaten him to the tent. "What do you think?" he asked the recruit. "Sir, I have no clue. I'd place a bet they were killed." Axon shrugged. "You may be right..."
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
The reporter was seriously irritated. She could've had a story and gotten promoted to co-anchor, but these military bozo's wouldn't give her anything. "Goddammit!" she cursed under her breath as she pulled out a stick of gum. She and her crew started leaving out of the jungle on their helicopter. "Ma'am?" said a noticeably shaken camera man. "What?!" she snapped back at him. "D-do you see anything in there?" he pointed at the helicopter. She looked around, and saw a shadow move a box around to the other side. "It's just Harold. Now get moving!" As the camera man stepped on board, the chopper suddenly lifted off. "WHAT THE HELL! SON OF A <bleep> HAROLD! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
"Uh... Harold? We forgot Elise." The camera man walked over to the pilot, and at his shock, found no one was piloting the chopper. The stick was moving by itself. Before he could react, he felt, something grab his skull and pull him back. Frightened, he kicked the stick and held down as he slowly lost conciousness. The helicopted banked, crashed and exploded in the trees.
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
Axon and his platoon heard the explosion, and saw flames licking the sky. Wide-eyed, he pulled out his M92FS and ran toward the wreckage. Elise the reporter was standing there, her mouth wide-open in shock. "Harold? John?" she voicelessly whispered, before hitting her knees. As they ran toward the crash, one of the troops tripped over a large mass. He wheeled around and saw it was the camera man. Upon closer examination, his eyes were either torn or gouged out, with brain matter running along the edges of his sockets. "Sir!" Axon stopped and ran toward the troop. He knelt down, saw the corpse, and covered his mouth. "What the hell is---"
"Sir! We have reports from the wreckage!" Axon stood up and confronted the informant. "Well, say what the hell you saw!" The soldier straigtened up. "Aside from a little blood and cranial fluid, there was nothing there. No pilot, no other, nothing." Axon bit his lip. "My god... what we're dealing with... it's not human. Call HQ, we're going to need help."
(OOC: This RP is open to anyone who wishes to join. I prefer to keep a small unit of people who is willing to help. This threat is, obviously, not human. The best description I can give you is if you've seen "Predator" and/or "Phantoms", that's what this threat is, but it is no means alien. Just a new animal. And hell, to those who help, they can learn from this creature, and create some "cool" stuff. I can't, obviously, my nation is too young, but other, older nations could.)

OOC: Oh man, I have the perfect "creature" for this... Just stick with me... Our national animal is the Raptor... And we have a Special ops unit of bio genetically engineered Raptors. Say, that, we were training them in the forest, and one overrode its CPU and went homicidal... Just an idea, what do you think?

"Sir, we've got some very strange reports coming out of Exrenia." Prvt. Richard reported to General Antercrop. "Well... I'm waiting, Private." the General said, waiting for Richard to give the report.
"Some strange 'creature' apparently is going Hell Mary on them. Just days ago, a team vanished without a trace. Today, something caused a helicopter to go down. No pilot, nothing." Richard reported.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later that day, in a briefing with President Maybury, General Antercrop laid down the sketching and confusing scenario. After doing so, he gave Maybury his suggestion. "Mr. President, they don't know what they're dealing with. Neither do we. I honestly don't see why we need to march into some small nation we've never had dealing with, EVER, and be the heros of the day. It 'aint our problem."
"General, this worries me alot. And it concerns this great nation, rather we have had previous dealings with them or not. I'm going to contact them very shortly, see what is needed." Maybury replied.
"Mr. President, it's not our fight. We don't know what we're going to be dealing with. Let them deal with their own problems. They probably would never help us if we were in their situation. So let them deal with it on their own!"
"General, we will be helping them, rather you like it or not. And do not raise your voice at me like that again. Next time you do, I will have you removed from my sight."
"I'm sorry. But we just should not help them. It's not our fight, and we will undoubtably loose many of our men if we do so." the General said.
"Look General, I have made my decision. We are going in. Thank you for your briefing. I fully expect you to do as ordered if we do go in. Understood?"
"Yes, sir. I understand. Ready for your orders, sir."
"Good." President Maybury said, standing up and exiting the room, leaving the General to sit there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Angela, please get me in contact with Exrenia." President Maybury said. "Yes Mr. President. Right away."
Within a moment, communication was set up.
Hello. I am President John Maybury, president of the great republic of ViZion. I understand you are having some trouble with an unknown creature of some sort.
We wish to aid you in military and humanitarian aid, if you are in need of either. Please let us know what you are in need of and we will be sure to aid you in any way we can.
Thank you,
President Maybury
OOC: That sounds like a good idea, maybe they were trying to upgrade their AI, and they became self-aware, and over time, became VERY smart, like on Tremors. And to make it more interesting, let's say you gys (Raptorian Federation) was working with Arkwright to train it to use human machines, and stuff. What do you think about that?

Aldevain sighed, which made an odd wheeze sound under his mask. He turned to one of his comrades, who was strumming his fingers on the butt of his rifle. "Hey, Vendurgan." Private Vendurgan looked up at Private Aldevain. "What's the point in us being out here anyway? The RAPTOR unit seems so advanced..." Aldevain said with a sarcastic tone. "...One would think they can train themselves." Vendurgan let out a sigh of his own and stood up, "It's for monitoring their behavior patterns, remember, these are still new..."
"Yeah, I know but..."
Their conversation was shattered by a shill beep, followed by a voice booming over the loudspeaker. "All units, report to HQ, all units to HQ... Make it double time newbloods!" There was a click, and the two began to jog to get to the HQ tent. As they walked in, the entire platoon stood, or, at least the human platoon. Sergeant Gasumn stood on a makeshift stage and spoke calmly into a microphone. "Rookies, I'll cut all the details and get right to it: One of the Raptors escaped." There wasn't a peep in the room, every human knew the destructive power of a bio engineered Raptor, it's worth at least 10 human soldiers. "... Sources tell me it overrode it's aggression admitter during diagnostics, it broke from the research lab and escaped into the jungle... One scientist was injured, but not seriously." He paused for a moment. "I want Alpha team, that'll be me, Vendurgan, Aldevain, and Livsun. Gold team, that's the rest of you worms, will stay here and guard the other Raptors, I don't want this to happen again... Understood?" There was a long pause, and he repeated himself, "Understood soldiers?!" All the privates in the room yelled in unison, "Sir, yes, sir!"
"Good, now Alpha, move out!" He jumped from the stage, cocked his rifle, and ran out with the three others...
OOC: My nation is POST-modern tech, by the way...
EDIT: Accually, let's start it off like this, the Raptorians think they're the only force out there, we'll meet up a bit later in the search.
((To ViZion (cool name, BTW) ))
"Your majesty," said Marcus, the emperors trusted messenger, as he bowed, "I have word from ViZion about our situation within the Arbolith Jungle, concerning our problem with the scientists," reported Marcus. Emperor Aiyer rubbed his brow. "What do they request?" Marcus stood up. "ViZion is will to send military and humanitarian aid to our units in the jungle. If you ask me sir, we need all the help we can get." Aiyer let out a sigh of relief, the first good news he heard all day. "Thank you for your information. I will address them immediately." Aiyer continued down the corridor to the communications room. There, he straightened his frizzled hair, and fixed his suit up. "Get me back into contact with ViZion, Matthew." Matt nodded, and seconds later, he was on camera.
Greetings, President Mayberry. I am Emperor Aiyer Mascrida of Exrenia. Our science team was sent in with a new fledgling business called Arkwright, with a few documentarians to the Arbolith Jungle for scientific experimentation on a rare plant said to be the first part to being the cure for sicknesses such as HIV and Ebola. While research are, as of yet, sketchy, a cure was supposedly being made. Soon after this, we lost contact with the team, and I fear the worst has happened to them.
You can send in a small team of soldiers in for help in procuring scientists. With your help, I will share with you the design formula, or what is being made of it, for the cure. If you already have immunizations to it, a sum of money will be procured. Above all, find out what happened to my scientists. They mean everything to my nation and... and that will be it. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely
Emperor Aiyer Mascrida
As the emperor finished this, he wiped a tear from his eye. He remembered his sister, and how she was currently living with AIDS. "Sir," approached Matthew, "are you okay?" Aiyer stood up. "I am fine. I thank you for your concern..."

Axon stood by the map table, while his subordinates set up a makeshift headquarters around him. The new recruit, who's name he just found out to be Joseph Frost, approached him. "Sir, I have information from the Emperor himself. The nation of ViZion is coming in to aid us in our search." Axon was taken aghast by this, but still kept his cool. "That's good news, at what time do we expect them?"
"We'll be notified upon their hearing from them."
"Good, any other news?"
"Only the fact that I'm excited to be here right now, it's more stimulating than fighting human opposition."
"You're a private and you feel this?"
Frost merely shrugged and smiled. "Who said video games couldn't teach you anything?" Axon grunted a small chuckle, the only light-hearted comment in this dark situation. "As you were, private." Frost saluted and went back to the communications tent. Inside, Axon was thinking how good it was to have someone who spoke his mind in the outfit. Axon took the last puff from his cigarette, and crushed it in his callused hand.
(OOC: My nation is Post-MT as well, hence the year 2016. Yeah, we'll meet up later, how exactly do you want us to meet up? In the midst of confusion with guns blazing, you come in and save us from "one" raptor that escaped while informing us there are others but being mum to it, or some other idea?)

"John, we've received a reply from Exrenia. They're very pleased to hear of our offer to help, and in return are offering a sum of money, or cure to HIV/AIDS and Ebola." said Angela. "Good. Let me send a reply." he said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emperor Aiyer Mascrida, it is my pleasure to meet you. I thank you for your offered, and we will gratefully accept it. We will prepare a special team of soldiers who are trained to fight non-human creatures. We'd dealt with similar situations, the main one being Acigoo. That is a whole different story, however, and we do not have the time to talk about the past. We need to focus on the present and future.
The numbers will be 500 specially trained and armed soldiers, and that will double next week. We are also preparing monitoring equipment to monitor the area. As well as that previously stated, we will send medical aid, food, and drinks. This is for the aid of those in the area. We are well trained in such conditions, and doubt this could be any worse than the Acigoo incidents we were involved in.
We look forward to working with you, finding what happened to your crew as you may have closure. We also look forward to ending this tyrannical creatures reign, causing terror and death to your people.
Thank you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shortly after, the military began to prepare the 500 soldiers. They would be ready in two days, the equipment ready in three. The humanitarian aid, however, would likely take up to a week to be ready, loaded, and sent.

*Deep in the forest*
The four stalked the ground, taking care to watch their every step... Every movement could be their very last. They accually quivered in their armor every time a tree or shrub rustled... They had the safties on, but the weapons were loaded, and they wern't prepared to take any chances. Then, over a few shrubs, they saw a large, semi-erect creature dart by... They clicked their safties off, and slowly crept only to see...
OOC: This is where I meet up with your team.
Private Frost jogged up to Axon, carrying a report in his hand. He seemed excited. "What is it, private?" shouted Axon. "Sir! We've got confirmation from ViZion. They're sending aid!" Axon almost smiled. Even better news. "They're coming by daytime tomorrow, but the humanitarian aid may be a week so--"
Rustle... Axon cut Frost's words short. Something moved in the jungle. It could've been a wild animal, or that stray creature. It was then he saw a dozen foreign soldiers in gas masks. It seemed instant that he pushed Frost down, hid behind a few metal crates, and shouted a few orders that a firefight had ensued. A few of his soldiers were dropped in an instant, while others hid behind other cover, a few lobbing fragmentation grenades, and firing at anyone that didn't wear the Exrenian insignia blazened on the front. Frost rolled out of nowhere, filling a spot next to Axon, who was firing his G36 at mask-faces in the jungle. "Captain!" he shouted ", what are your orders!?" Axon, without diverting his eyes, shouted over the gunfire. "Call ViZion and to the capital! Tell them we are under attack by unknown, human forces! Move to it!" No sooner as the words left his lips, Axon caught a bullet that grazed the side of his face. Pain seared through his cheek, but felt the wound could be easily stiched. His, slightly watery from pain, continued firing at the enemy, not knowing who they might be.
((OOC: Okay, I've lost 6 men so far in this post. I have 74 left. When will we call it quits and try to find the creature? BTW, you shot Axon! You buggers! lol, j/k))

The Sergeant was finally getting what he wanted, a real gunfight... But then reality set in, they had caught them off guard, but they had the upper hand when it came to cover... He ripped out his radio, and scrambled for HQ. He yelled as bullets wizzed by, "HQ! HQ! Heavy fire! Need backup! ASAP!" He dropped the radio as a bullet nicked his arm. "FUCKER!" He cried out as he pulled the pin on a grenade and launched it at his foes. "Keep firing!" He yelled to his 3 comrades. "Lay down a line of surpression, hold them off until we get reniforcements." The three nodded, but didn't keep their eyes off their targets... Bullets continued to whiz by, as exposions encircled them...
OOC: I havn't lost any, but when renforcements come, the bodies will pile.

He could smell it...
It wasn't natural...it wasn't right...it wasn't...human...
Whatever it was, it didn't belong in these jungles.
Rathen, a 4' 8" Avalax, swung from tree to tree almost silently. His wild, red hair streamed behind him, his yellow eyes fixed tightly on the trees as he swung from branch to branch. His beard was long and unshaven, as were his arms and legs. He had brushed them, but the effect remained the same: he looked wild and untaimed.
And, that was what he was. An Exile and a wildman.
He landed on top of a tree and saw...or rather, didn't see...a creature approaching an acompiny of several armed men. The only way he knew it was there was by its smell. And, for his keen Avalaxian nose and keen forest survival smell, made it stand like a needle in a haystack.
But, as Rathen stuck his pudgey nose out further to sniff, he found that he could smell the haystack...not the needle.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small dart. It's tip was poisoned, and it was made of iron he had smelted himself. He looked intently at the ground where the smell was coming from, waiting to see some distubance in the dense jungle foliage...
...wait for it...wait for it...wait...for...it...
It moved, he saw some branches twitch and leaves russel ever-so-slightly.
With a fiercome warcry, Rathen threw the dart with all of his might, then jumped down from his jungle branch: though not before tying a siezable vine, that was secure on the trunk, to his waist.

"President Maybury... we've got an update... they've under attack from humans now!" Angela said. "Good God, what the hell is going on over there? General! Get over here!" Maybury said.
"Yes, Mr. President?" asked General Antercrop. "I want 2,000 men trained to fight in jungles, forests, and mountains. Humans are now attacking them." he said. "Yes, sir." the General said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Six hours later...
General Antercrop walked up to President Maybury, "We're ready Mr. President." he said. "Good. Move out. Get things under control over there, General Antercrop!" Maybury yelled, quite stressed from multiple recent issues going on, including a rouge nuclear-capable battleship.
Six transport planes, flanked by fourteen F-22 fighters, took off less than twenty minutes later, carrying the 2,000 jungle soldiers, and 1,000 specially trained soldiers to fight these 'creatures'.

The 4 held their own until renforcements arrived (it took about 5 minutes for 70 troops to get there.) Gasumn was bleeding a lot, still cluching onto his arm, and squeezing the trigger. Bullets were still coming from all over, and as more Raptorian soldiers ran towards the firefight. Bodies piled as bullets ripped through them. Gasumn yelled to a few of the soldiers. "You five! Go to the right, you six, to the left! We need to flank them! Me and the rest will lay down suppression! Take them out, everyone of them!"
Axon looked over the crate to see if any of the opposing force had been eliminated. Much to his dismay, their forces had increased exponentially. "Dammit!" he cursed out loud. "Where the hell are our reinforcements!?"
As soon as he said this, he heard the distant whirring of helicopters. Looking up, he saw four Ospreys hovering over the clearing, with twelve Apache's and four Commanches flanking their sides and rear. As the troops rapelled down, the attack choppers were firing at the incoming forces. Axon soon saw that, combined with his seventy-six men, he had just received eighty more, he nearly doubled the others forces.
"Sir!" shouted Frost,"I have word that ViZion is sending three THOUSAND men here to help us, as well as several vehicles and aid!" In the midst of all the shooting, Axon's jaw dropped. Just to hold them off a bit longer... "We've dropped our load, captain," rang his codec, "you guys take care." The choppers then left the hotzone. A bullet richocheted off the crate next to his head. Axon peeked over the crate, noticing that several weren't up front, then saw several moving to the left and right. "Dammit!" He turned to the reinforcements. "They're flanking us! Half take the left, half take the right! We are not going to lose!" Axon took a WP (white phospherous) grenade and tossed it in the middle of the oncoming gas-faces. He didn't care if it burned, he had firefighting crews on hold, if he needed, he'd burn the rest of the enemy.

The WP grenade hit them, and they yelled in pain. They ducked down... "SIR!" One soldier called out. "They've landed more!"
"Shell them!" Gasmun yelled amidst the chaos.
"Get mortars ready!"
"YESSIR!"
The soldiers on the left ran back a bit to set up small, portable mortars, with a quick 2 minute assembly, they began to shell the enemy area. The other soldiers still flanking. The soldiers in the middle, just recovering from the blinding light, opened up more supressing fire. "Flank team! Kill them all! Move in on my signal!"
OOC: Don't worry, it's not a godmod. If anyone here is, it's me :p
Private Frost heard barely audible on the other end of the radio that ViZion aircraft had requested to land in the encampment. Amongst the gunshots, he shouted "AIR 204, YOU HAVE PERMISSION! HURRY!" After that, a stray bullet went through the radio, effectively rendering it dead, and without a source of communications, they may not last long.
Axon heard distant *boom* sounds. The firing was still going on, but he heard the dreaded tell-tale sound *peeeeew*. This meant only one thing. "MORTAR! Everyone down!" Several explosions rocked the camp, several clusters of soldiers were knocked off their feet, wounded, dying, or dead, and a few were vaporized. He needed to find an edge, somehow, and with the radio dead, it would be hard.

"Taking heavy fire, we need t... AUGH! *Fzzzz*"
"SHIT!" Gasmun yelled, "Alright, all soldiers, move in for the kill, mortars, cease fire, get your rifles, and move it!" With that, he motioned to sprint towards the camp. He was the first to stand, still bleeding, a soldier who ran infront of him took a bullet to the heart, and collapsed. "GO GO GO!" He yelled, wincing in extreme pain. All the flanks rushed toward the center, guns on full auto, and they duck behind any cover they can get.
