TRIANCIA DECLARES OPEN HOSTILITES AGANIST COREYS LAND

JOSEPH II FEDERAL DISTRICT- Earlier today, President Stanton, in a televised address, announced that the Federal Kingdom will take military action against Coreys Land, which recently has declared war on Basque Spain, the leader of the Secular Nations Union (SNU).

"This declaration of war against an alliance promoting a tenet of basic human rights should not be tolerated by any free nation." the President stated. "The Federal Kingdom of Triancia will gladly take up our obligations to our ally and their just cause."

Currently, the forces being deployed against Coreys Land are classified. However, sources states that they will most likely consist of units capable of responding rapidly, and a strong naval response to destroy an invasion fleet before it can land. Most in the Triancian military community believe that any direct action against Coreys Land would consist of air and naval strikes only. A source high in the Royal Triancia Marine Corps stated the "Triancian forces do not have the technology, logistics, or numbers to mount an invasion."

Basque Spain is Trianica's Ally in the International Allied Defense Federation (IADF), and Triancia has made tentative statements on its wish to join the SNU.

All over Triancia, the wheels of the War Machine start turning. Those with good satellite coverage, or an active intelligence network, might have an inkling of what's being prepared.

The 3rd and 8th Royal Triancian Marine Expeditionaries have moved off from there regular patrol routes, and have begun moving toward Coreys Land. The forces each consists of one RTMC division, support by a wing of transport helicopters and a wing of VSTOL attack aircraft. The fleet consists of five cruisers, three Destroyers, and two Earl IV attack submarines on escort duty, five supply ships, a hospital ship, and three LSDs.

16 Earl IV attack subs have moved from there normal routes, and headed to intercept the enemy fleet. They've also retargets the two SLBM's each has on board.

The 3rd and 4th Carrier Battle Fleets have put to sea, and are heading out to intercept the Coreys Land Fleet as well. Each fleet consists of:

And, finally, the 8th Armored Calvary Regiment has begin moving from it inland base to one of Triancia's Port's, and it's personnel getting ready for an air lift. They could be at Basque Spain, ready to provide support in 96 hours.

The Armed Republic of Krioval will not engage in hostilities on either side, but offers a safe haven for any civilians wishing to evacuate. Since we are not involved in military actions, we most strongly advise against any attack on Kriovalian territory or on ships flying the Kriovalian flag. Finally, we offer arms trade agreements with parties looking to establish them.

The Republic of Ximia is tempted to join with the SNU, however, Ximia is _so_ secular that joining the SNU would be considered state endorsement of secularism, a religion in of itself and would violate the church-state separation clause in our constitution. Basically, our government (what exsists of it) is totally oblivious that people have religious (or non-religious) beliefs at all.

It just goes to show you how complicated politics are. We of the Moral Allaince haven't made any agressive moves, nor was the Alliaince founded on war. We merely wish to spread morality. In my nation, we believe that the concept of human rights will cease to exist if immorality is allowed to flourish, because the concept of human rights and freedom are based on the belief in morality. This is why we believe the Morality is more important than freedom, because without morality freedom cannot exist. In Acridia at least, we understand that while people shouldn't be forced to be Christian, without a common morality, anarchy would be the result, as was the case in Acridia before the Moralist revelution three months ago. Therefore, we allow people of other faiths to live in Acridia in peace, but they are expected to obey the moral laws. Although the Socialist party of Acridia opposes this, they are extremely unpopular in Acridia due to the fact they controled the country for decades and ran it into the ground socially and economicly. Membership in Secular Nations Union is contingent upon the clarification of "anti-moral," as this is a loose term that could be abused to suit various aims.

As the Praesidium of the Executive Central Directorate understands it, morals are primarily basic ethics and dictates of proper behaviour.

While the government of Australus is, in fact secular and does not make declarations of morality or immorality, a membership in a Secular Nations Union that makes an "anti-moral" stance a part of its basic manifesto is in direct conflict with the Freedom of Religious Exercise clause of Australus's Constitution (based on Australus High Court case Huygens v. Roodbosje Prefecture) on the grounds that it would endorse the "anti-moral" stance, potentially an affront to various religious communities of Australus who view their faiths as morally based.

Membership in Secular Nations Union is contingent upon the clarification of "anti-moral," as this is a loose term that could be abused to suit various aims.

As the Praesidium of the Executive Central Directorate understands it, morals are primarily basic ethics and dictates of proper behaviour.

While the government of Australus is, in fact secular and does not make declarations of morality or immorality, a membership in a Secular Nations Union that makes an "anti-moral" stance a part of its basic manifesto is in direct conflict with the Freedom of Religious Exercise clause of Australus's Constitution (based on Australus High Court case Huygens v. Roodbosje Prefecture) on the grounds that it would endorse the "anti-moral" stance, potentially an affront to various religious communities of Australus who view their faiths as morally based.

Australus gives full support to the Secular Nations Union. We are a nation where the people are very spiritual - according to the National Census, 70 per cent attend a religious service at least once a week.

However, those faiths are extremely diverse, therefore the government of Australus believes that a secular government is the best way of preserving this diversity - and allowing people the freedom to not practise a religion or means of spirituality if they so choose.

The Technological Collectives of Australus would be honoured to participate as a member of the SNU.
