Official Pacitalian Government Response

Where will the world be in twenty years? Obviously nowhere forward from here, if nations like yours keep deciding what's moral and what is not. Let no one decide this, morality is a thing of the past. Progressivity is the present's new fangled thing - like the sliced bread of political forwardness. We hope you'll rethink your decision for the good of the people in your nation. If not, we'll be happy to take a percentage of those in your nation deemed "unfit to live there" and guarantee them safe passage to Pacitalia.

Offical Statement from Nellislandian government:

We oppose Malatose's stance on gay marriage and hope that they will be able to stop thier close-mindness and see that people are people. Regardless of their race, ethnic background, sex, or "sexual preferance".

We applaud the strong stance for morality in Malatose, the only problem being, the time taken for the bill to occur.

When the news reached the Emperor's court, the room filled with good will and happiness.

Ab-shalom and greetings;

We note Malatose's attempted action; however we also notice their membership in the United Nations.

As "Gay Marriage" - in fact, most any sort of marriage - is protected under UN Resolution #81 (Definition of Marriage), and as adherence to all UN Resolutions by UN Nations is compulsory, we find Malatose's action mostly a waste of time as their laws have already been rewritten for them back to a "gay marriage is legal" stance.

We reference for you the referenced works.

Definition of Marriage

Description: Description: IN VIEW of the Universal Bill of Human Rights, and the Gay Rights resolution;

The UN HEREBY :

DEFINES marriage as the civil joining of a member of any nation with any other member of any nation, regardless of sex, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, color, or any other characteristic, with the exception of age;

RECOGNIZES age of the individual(s) as a just reason for not recognizing marriage, as per Article One of the Child Protection Act;

FURTHER RECOGNIZES all nation's right to expand this definition beyond species borders as the individual governments see fit.

Votes For: 11,904
Votes Against: 7,473

Implemented: Thu Nov 25 2004

And from the UN FAQ:

Your nation can join the UN, but it's not compulsory. As a non-member, you are unaffected by any UN decisions. So if you're happy looking after your nation and don't want to dabble in international politics, don't join up.

The UN is your chance to mold the rest of the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will also be affected by any resolutions that pass. (You can't just obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations do.)

So this is what the world is coming to? Governments banning what goes on in their own citizen's bedrooms? Who are we to say it is wrong or right to be homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual hmm? If this is what the world is coming to, then there is no hope for progress. - Alecsander Bovsky, People's Commissar Of The Interior Commissariat

We note Malatose's attempted action; however we also notice their membership in the United Nations.

Official Kriovalian Response:

Krioval is appalled that a member of an international organization feels that it can flout that organization's rules at will. Further, Krioval notes that the Technological Nonintervention Act, ratified five years ago, allows us to invade nations of lesser technology for abrogating large-scale treaties or binding international agreements. Thus, we insist that Malatose either reverse the ban and deportation orders, submit to a United Nations mandated panel to investigate human rights abuses, or to resign from the United Nations. Unless one of these three options is selected, Krioval will be launching a force to liberate the citizens of Malatose from oppression.

OOC: As long as you've really gotten into this - you can RP being opposed to UN Resolutions. However, the game FAQ (aka "What Max "the owner of the site" has decreed as law") says not only can your nation not be obeying UN Resolutions if it belongs to the UN - it doesn't have a choice. It's compulsory, not voluntary.

However, this brings on a whole huge bag of worms. Which will probably never be solved. Getting back to the point of my delegate popping in - that nation will soon be up on charges in front of the UN for human rights violations, the result of which will be who knows.

Please go back to your nation's page, click on FAQ and read the UN FAQ again. They are not "suggestions".

So, if Krioval democratically decided that Christians were to be expunged from our nation, that would be all right? With logic like that, I am truly surprised that your nation has made it past the Stone Age.

OOC: UN resolutions are not suggestions. If someone wants to RP all manner of repressive policies contravened by the UN, they shouldn't be in the UN. It's rather simple, really.
Priman
20-03-2005, 06:08
The Holy Dominion of Priman is disturbed by your blatant disregard for human rights. We here at the Dominion would applaud you if this was simply a ban on same-sex marriage. However deporting them and treating them like vermin is an act of evil. We do not, nor will we ever, outlaw being attracted to the same sex.

Our Speaker has delivered a lengthy speech to the Conclave's House of Decree.

'Our dear brothers and sisters are escaping persecution from Malatose, scrambling toward us, a shining beacon of morality in a dark age. We fight for the rights of the common man so that he may grow, and become as a great oak in the Garden of the Cosmos. Though we despise their(homosexuals) ways we ban together in outrage over their Empire's betrayal. All homosexuals seeking sanctuary from the Malatosian brutality will require no passport. Remember what the Primanian sage Prima said in centuries past, "The development of Man is the Enlightenment of Nature." Others of you will remember what the phenomenal wiseman Yashua said. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you." I follow both of these men. One as a man, the other as my God. Remember also what my God has said, that whatever you have done for the least of God's children, you do for me."

OOC:Homosexuals are scrambling toward Priman because of their more gentle ways.

Official Andluciaen Response:

It would appear to the Andaluciaen Consulate, that this ban on homosexuals in Malatose is clearly in the realm of their own national determination. That while Andaluciae itself finds the behaviors of Malatose tasteless, we find the behaviors of nations intervening on this solely domestic issue tactless and silly. On this issue you should all concern yourselves with your own nations. Not others. Malatose is an independent nation, not beholden to you or your interests.
