I was wondering about a tank weapon i had heard about called the metalstorm rosser medium anti-aircraft gun. the basic principle is that approx.(I forget the exact number) ten barrels across by ten barrels high with 100 rounds of 40mm penetrators loaded into each barrel. the rounds are electronically activated by "shocking" the propellant to prevent sympathetic detonation. my question is if this would work from a economic perspective. i hope someone has any idea.

Mass produced it would be perfectly viable economicaly. With the high demand of the product the price will go down dramatically. Its just going to be pretty big (400 mm across)

You're probably referring to the RL weapons systems being prototyped here: http://www.metalstorm.com/. Not sure if they have any NS application. The rate-of-fire is phenomenal (they claim one million rounds / minute!) but that only means that the 540 rounds they can fire from the 36 barrel weapon are all gone before you can move an eyelash, much less blink.
Economically viable? Possibly. Militarily viable? Bear in mind that you don't reload, you replace. They're one-shot defensive weapons. I'd say "not".
