Slave Rebellion in Progress...((OPEN RP))

Doomingsland
15-03-2005, 23:35
Camp 182, Eastern Doomingsland

The camp was a massive, sprawling complex, spreading across the barren deserts of Doomingsland. It had high razor wire fences with automatic 20mm cannon turrets mounted in guard towers. Barracks buildings were constructed similarly to those used in concentration camps during WWII. The camp was seperated into four quadrants, each with its own work area and barracks area. However, it wasn't merely a prison. It was a slave labor camp. The men and women held inside consisted of criminals, prisoners of war, and slaves taken from conquered provinces.

The conditions inside were appauling. Although prisoners weren't on a starvation diet, the guards killed for sport. A prisoner walked the wrong way, he was shot and strung up. A prisoner drops something, he was shot and strung up. Corpses littered the dirt roads in between the barracks buildings, rotting in the scorching heat, spreading disease throughout the facility.

The bodies of those who pissed off the guards for any number of reasons had their heads mounted on spikes on top of the fences with the corpses stuck directly beneath, greatly discouraging escape.

However, these hard conditions didn't stop a group of young men from conspiring and planning their own escape...

One of the men worked in the kitchen, granting him access to knives and other sharp objects, while another worked indoors near one of the control hubs for the auto turrets. Their plan was to kill a few gaurds to stir up a riot while deactivating the turrets, preventing containment.

The man near the system hub had managed to grab the night shift, when the gaurds were least alert. He'd quietly managed to slip by a patrol, and infilrate the room, shutting down the communications, defences, and a whole lot of other electronics within the camp. Meanwhile, the cook had smuggled roughly twenty butcher knives into his barrack, evenly distributing them among the strongest men. Runners were then sent to all of the buildings, and from them more came.

Within an hour, the camp was prepared to rebel...

A lone gaurd sat out in the barracks area, taking a smoke. He was totaly unaware of what was about to happen. One of the conspirers quietly came up behind him, slitting his throat and putting his hand over his mouth. This happened in other places as well, and within ten minutes, all of the gaurds outside had been slaughtered.

Finnaly, the gaurds were alerted as the camp rose up and swarmed the adiministration buildings, losing dozens of their number, but quickly overwhelming the unprepared defenders. Every last gaurd and overseer was killed, leaving the slaves with several open armories along with tanks and APCs.

All of this occured within full view of spy satelites...

"What's this? Slaves revolting?" the general echoed. "Bastards. Shit, they should be grateful they're allowed to be slaves, rather than crucified, eaten by lions, or thrown into vats of acid. Very well. Johnson, contact Emperor Helldawg and ask him how we may be of service."

"Yes, sir!"

Any assistance you can render will be most appreciative, as you are one of the closest military intallations to the camp. We need you to prevent any slaves from escaping, but try to maintain a minimum safe distance of thirty miles.

Nikolaos was at his office holding data received from the intelligence satellites over Doomingsland. They where used for information not spying. Looks like a slave rebellion was happening in a slave camp in the Doomingsland desert. They also go control of tanks, guns and other stuff but they probably did not know how to use them.

Good day Emperor Helldawg. I got information that slaves are rebelling and since we are good friends and allies I would like to help out in putting it down and teach other slaves not to do the same. I also got a few "beta" WMDs that need testing. The Hoplites at my military base or on stand by and are waiting for further orders.

Shasoria, the West Pacific:
The Supreme Minister's High Command military structure formed together after catching wind of the events happening on the other side of the globe. There were various feelings in the Citadel; worry, regret, and a growing need - a need to brandish arms and fight back the vile slavetraders who spit in the face of humanity, a need to help.
The Minister of Defence Elias Grodin, was pushing him to call the troops up. "Sir, we cannot allow this to continue! They will systemically kill every last one of these people. How can you even think about not doing this?"
The Supreme Minister shakes his head. "A call to arms such as that might entice a homeland war. I cannot allow that to happen.." he turned to his Humanitarian Advisor. "Ms. Jackson, do we have sufficient airbases in the area to begin dropping aid packages?"
She nodded. "Although transit times might be longer than we expect."
The S.M. nodded. "Begin transit. I want to see these men with the supplies they need to fight back. Get them to them."
====
In an Air Field in a distant region, several Boreas-class planes begin taking to the air. Their cargo bays are weighed down by multitudes of crates, full of several supplies - blankets, food rations, and weapons with ammunition - a total of 125 AK-47s with two additional clips per rifle. Also included were grenades, packed tightly in a blast-resistant foam.
The new fighters, designed by TS, moved at high speeds and preferred extremely high or extremely low altitudes. They took to the upper atmosphere and continued their course for the region.

Emperor Kacin sat in his office, going over dozens of international, and national reports. Sometimes he wished he could quit, but why do that, when you're the most powerful man in the Silver Sea? Suddenly a report caught his eyes, apparently a slave revolt had occurred in Doomingsland, How very interesting... Dracun had recently established a slave trade of it's own, and it should help it's fellow allies. Though Dracun had come just recently out of a war, the spirits were high and Kacin was sure that another war would only increase his popularity as a "hero." He quickly grabbed a pen and paper and drafted a message, called for an aide to have it sent to Emperor Helldawg.

Message to Emperor Helldawg
Emperor Helldawg, we sympathize with your current problems but in times like these sympathy is not something you would need. No, instead a strong arm is needed and although we know you can easily hold your own, but would like to help strengthen that arm.
Signed Emperor Kacin

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. However, we plan on using high yeild weaponry on the rebel camp, and would require for any allied forces to keep a suitable distance to avoid any fratricide.

IC: The pilots break radio silence for the first time. They were still over the ocean, but it was a necessity to check in regularily. "Home Nest this is Chick Lead, we've reached half-mark, over." The Pilot in behind him was working with the weapons system, entering algorithms for the proper distribution of the supply crates. The sixteen birds, spread out over several kilometers, rarely did aid missions - they were predominantly for pummeling their enemies into plate glass. But the new fighter was designed for an alternative to cargo planes when drops had to occur in hostile areas, allowing for quick and efficient drops.
"Hey, Jake," the pilot said over his shoulder. "You realize it'll be a bumpy way down."
Jake grinned. "Thats what the parachutes are for."

OOC:Looks good, but remember, this place is pretty far inland, and I've got one hell of an air defense grid.

IC:

Twenty miles within Doomingslandian Airspace

Col. Julius Titus, callsign Caesar Six, was patroling at 70,000 feet in his F78 Demon air superiority fighter. He was casualy flying a straight line, not really knowing or carring what was going on around him. He had his radar wave cancellation system on, preventing detection by anyone dumb enough to stray within the airspace of his country. He had a total of seventeen missiles hanging off of the under wing pylons and weapons bays. His controller aircraft, an E767 AWACS bird, was only one hundred miles away, allowing for excellent early warning capability. He'd know if anyone was coming before they even reached his airspace.

OOC: Nice specs. You wouldn't happen to have a regional map would you?
IC: Roughly about a third of the way to the coast, the flight group breaks off into squads of 8, moving in the opposite direction of one another. They hadn't broke mainland yet, but were drawing near.
"Home Nest, this is Flock 1. The chicks have gone their seperate ways. Maintaining radio silence from here on - Flock 1 out."
In a few moments, they would break mainland. Once the shore was in sight, they would engage their RADAR dampening equipment, making them obscure blips that were incredibly hard to follow and tended to evade most automated systems.

Internal communications went online - it was Flock 2. The channel was encrypted heavily at the standard 1280-bit encryption, non-radio. "Flock 1 this is Flock 2. We're picking up an energy signature from above mainland. It's really faint, undistinguishable. Nothing coming up on RADAR."

"Flock 2, be advised there may be military air traffic. Stay on your toes. Engage RADAR-dampening equipment, but stray from the signature."

Caesar Six, I am detecting a total of sixteen incoming bogies in groups of eight. Unknown type. Intercept and shoot down immediatly. came the voice of one of the men on the AWACS to Julius.

Affirmative, I'm getting them, as well. Engaging. he replied, rolling the aircraft and pointing the nose towards one of the bomber flights.

He'd manage to detect them via LIDAR and LADAR, allowing for him to engage with missiles and cannons. The AWACS would also work in conjunction, guiding radar guided missiles when needed. For his first act, he released eight AMRAAM missiles, each guided to a seperate bomber by the AWACS. He then kicked on his double pulse system, immediatly kicking the aircraft to a velocity of mach five before he shut it off. He was now directly above the bombers and in gun range. He immediatly loosed two sidewinders at one of the remaining bombers before turning to another and opening up with his 30mm chaingun.

Meanwhile, the other bomber wing was engaged by ground based surface-to-air missiles, SA-12 Gladiators, all within underground verticle launch tubers to prevent detection by satelites. A total of sixteen of these missiles (two per bomber) were launched.

OOC:Modern AWACS can easily burn through stealth in case you didn't know.

OOC: I haven't broken mainland yet, but I'll go with it. Is your nation coastal? Regional map would be nice. Note that you'd only detect one group (Flock 2) - they changed positioning to loop around, to swing in from seperate directions. Thats why they detected the energy sigs, not the other group. :)

IC: Flock 2 never had a chance to signal the other flight group right away. Comm channels went off. "Flock Leader, I'm reporting a lock on our craft."
Several others began comfirming. "Begin evasive maneuvers. Launch Countermeasures.... now." Flock Leader commanded.

Behind the crafts, small pods replicating the signatures of the craft began ejecting. The missiles that were tracking them so readily began to maneuver towards the small pods. Several errupted against the Countermeasures behind them, sending turbulance throughout the aircraft. Others skimmed by, flying past the fighters, only to loop around. Several reports came in of mild damage but nothing that couldn't be dealt with.

The Comm went off - one of the planes had been hit hard; one of the missiles had caught the propelled countermeasure too close to the plane, damaging one engine, while another missile clipped the other wing, shredding it away. "I'm hit! I'm hit!!" the call came through the comm. "I'm sorry!" a muffled voice said. The plane reached an altitude suitable for ejection. The pilot and his weapons specialist, pulling the lever, were thrust into the roof of his cockpit that never blew off like it should, killing them instantly. It began a rolling spin, falling towards the ocean below.

Flock 2 Lead noticed the signatures that were drawing close on his analysis screen. "Sir, we've got major problems... multiple bogies coming in."
The pilot broke radio contact. "Home Nest this is Flock 2, we have been compromised, I repeat, we have been compromised." A quick order came to disengage and pull back. They began the process, heading back towards the ocean, where either a dogfight or a long run home would occur.

As the missiles began to loop back, immediately the flight groups began to break off once more, this time into groups of 4 (and one 3). The flight groups again went in different headings, rolling and spinning. New designations were Flight 1, 2, 3, and 4. 3 and 4 were set at the standard 60,000ft altitude, one aircraft short. Another order came barked over the comm signatures, asking for further countermeasures to be launched. Flight group 3 and 4 began releasing several - 3 per plane, nearly draining what they had left. However, it created a frenzy. Suddenly signatures were found, representing 12 additional planes, however hazy, as they began their retreat. The last remaining missiles began to crash into the wall of countermeasures.

Flights 1 and 2 knew the risk, but Home Nest had given them seperate orders. They broke mainland quickly, and 1 and 2 pulled closer to the ground, almost hugging it at an incredibly low 500 ft (avg.) in a parabolic flight pattern. Their subsonic speeds and low altitude created quite an odd effect - they had their thrusters angled slightly down, reducing speed but causing dust to churn up on below. This created large dust clouds as they drew closer to the ground, disrupting any LIDAR that had been tracking them. As well, RADAR began having even further trouble as the reduced altitude and high speeds made windows of opportunity open for attacks minimal as well as making it even less than hazy blips, moreso just the occasional showing of a general location. On their RADAR, there was no sign of enemy bogies, and no signatures were found in the immediate area.

OOC: Alright, but I must press that the damage will not be significant as it is one gunner firing while the planes hit evasive maneuvers. Sorry, I headed out for a bit.

Through a winding corkscrew maneuver, the pilot in the Boreas pulled up slightly. "Flock 2, Damage report!"
Comm chatter came through. "4th engine down, I'm leaking fuel," commented Bird 3. Bird 2 confirmed as well - he had been hit by heavy machine fire, and he was slowly losing atmospheric pressure by could hold it. Flock 2 Lead was still stable. "Keep maneuvering and move at current heading, this is happening where we want it to."
Looking out to his cockpit, he could see the bullets breaking the air around him. A few snagged his wing, the sound clattering over the comm and over the roar of the engine. "This is going to be fun," he said dryly.

Maintaining a parabolic flight pattern, though efficient to the cause, wasn't efficient for fueling. The 8 fighters that managed to break into the mainland were nearing their heading, slowly breaking into a straight, ground-hugging flight pattern. Home Nest was asking them to fly over the facility, and so they would. The marked heading was drawing even closer, and slowly the flight groups drew upwards, gaining altitude. As they passed the facility overhead, with precision release, they let loose their payload. Crates fell from the sky. As they neared the ground, parachutes opened and slowly, 16 crates began to drift down to the surrounding area, containing weapons and supplies to help fuel the rebel cause.
They drew up into the air. "Dissolve flight group, take headings being sent now. Be prepared to evade, take high ground and move fast." came Flock 2 Leader over the comm.

“Operation Director?” called an Intelligence Analyst, turning her head up from her console, her ponytail swing behind it.

“Yes, Analyst?” replied the Ops Director, the officer on duty, assigned to watch over the hundreds of men and women monitoring the vast network of Transnapastani spy satellites covering much of the earth. Some free floating, they circle the globe, sometimes capturing useful images. Others were locked into a geo-synchronous orbit, to monitor nations of interest, and also to keep an eye on the homeland, and the Directorate.

The room was huge dome, more than 200 feet tall, buried deep within the Andres Mountains. It was divided into several different levels, with monitors riming each level arrayed in a semi-circle around the room. In the center was a large holographic globe. The globe showed the positions of the different spy satellites, represented by blue dots, with red cones extending down from them, showing their viewing area, yellow lines represented their satellites orbits. On the far wall, a large display screens showed many different imagoes from around the word. The OIS’s symbol, the All Seeing Eye of Osirs, inside if an eight pointed star was inset in the center of the room, the holograph of the world rising out of the eye. If anything within the OIS was reprehensive of its symbol, this was it.

“Sir, SatRec picked up a disturbance in Doomingsland. Looked like an uprising in some sort of prison, collating this with information gathered from information networks, we’ve been able to conclude, with a 90% certainty, that this was a slave camp.” She handed the Ops Director several color photographs, of the camps layout, showing the people on the ground, and the ground vehicles.

“Also, sir, we managed to pick up this, it’s fuzzy, but the same satellite managed to record several explosions in the sky over the coastal areas of Dommingsland.”

The Ops Director looked at the pictures

“What do you make of it, Analyst?”

“Well, sir, obviously, it looks like someone tried to launch an air incursion into Dommingsland air space, and was intercepted by air patrol. That much was obvious, I’m not drawling anything for coloration. There were no transport aircraft in the area, so, no one was trying to evac the slaves.”

“Mm, yes, but, look here…they we’re bombers…. an unknown type, I’ll cede, but, still obviously a bomber. Now, obviously, is Doomingsland wanted to eradicate this camp, they would have used their own bombers, and not called some nation to do it…and definitely wouldn’t have fired not hem when entering the airspace. On the flipside, I think we can rule out that these bombers we’re being sent in to attack the rebelling slaves, what does that leave you with, Analyst?”

“Umm, sir, well, unless the incident was unrelated, though I doubt that, because in the inbound vectors roughly translate out to the location of the camp. Perhaps, whatever nation did this is attempting to drop supplies to the rebels?”

“Very good Analyst, I see you’re training serves you well. Now, we tracked more inbound planes then there were explosions, which leads me to believe that something made it through, find it, Analyst, and follow it home, I want to see whose helping those slaves…dismissed

She snapped off a salute “Yes sir!” and returned to her console

The Operations Director pulled out his cell phone

“Sub-Commander Fires? Yes, this is Operations Director Kerklin, yes, ill be sending you some interesting intelligence we’ve received, perhaps the Director-General or the Executer will be able to use it.” There was a brief moment silence “Yes, SC, you’ve reviewed it? Yes sir, we’re tracking it down, yes sir, I’ll keep you informed, as always. OD Kerklin, out.”

OD Kerklin returned to his office and began to review the pictures and reports thoroughly, sipping coffee. With an election coming up, the OIS may need some fodder for the press to ensure Executer Hessian is re-elected. This pans out, and ills see Sub-Commander before the end of the year.

Meeting Room
Valhalla Command Center
Transnapastain

The next day, a meeting was called in order to review the situation. Several Operations Directors, Sub-Commanders, the Director-General and the Executer herself we’re in attendance.

They sat around the circular black onyx table, in the center of the table, a holoprojector showed a smaller image of the globe displayed in the SatRec Monitor room At the top of the ovular room, a dim blue light ran around the circumference of the room, shinning faintly off the black onyx floors and table. The room was dimly lit and somewhat gloomy, looking like something right out of an evil Bond villain’s liar.

“What do you have for me, Director-General?” asked Executer Vikki Hessian

“Well, Executer, I’ll turn the meeting over to Operations Director Kerklin, who has been given responsibility for this situation, as well as having been the officer on watch when the incident occurred.” the Director-General motioned to Kerklin, “at your convince, Operation Director.”

I’ve never been so scared in my life. thought Kerklin as he stood up to take his place at he podium His commanding officer, Sub-Commander Bensly, glared at him, his gaze speaking for itself, Fuck this up, and you’re a dead man.

Kerklin took his place at the podium and began to speak. “At approximately 17:30, several days ago, SatRec recorded what appeared to be an armed resistance occurring within a suspected slave labor camp inside of Doomingsland. “As he spoke, the holo-image shifted from the globe to a holographic representation of Doomingsland, shown with topographical detail, as well as outlining the rivers, jungles, snowfields and any other geographical information that the satellites could find. All of this was being displayed in crystal clear clarity, as if views directly from the satellite. A red dot appears in the middle of one of the barren desert regions, and labeled itself “Slave Camp” “It appears that the occupants of this instillation managed to overpower their captors and have seized control of the facility, in addition to several armored vehicles and weapons caches. Satellite 1879-ss2 has locked into position over the area and has observed several military units moving into position around the camp, though, it seems they are maintaining a distance of thirty miles from the camp itself. Further inspection ahs reveal that these are Roach-Busterian units, as opposed to Doomingsland regular army units, and were most likely dispatched from here.” He said, pointing to the holograph, and another red dot appeared, this time label, “RB base.” He paused and continued, “Shifting gears, hours later, we picked up what appeared to be an air engagement occurring at 12 miles offshore of the Doomingsland mainland.” The replay videos of the recorded explosions began to play on the projector. “Though it looks like several craft were intercepted, we have learned that the craft downed were some form of bomber, which does not appear in our database. Further surveillance over the camp reveals several aircraft that made it through the anti-air defenses, and managed to release their payloads. Follow up pictures concur with out earlier estimates that the bombers we’re carrying some sort of relief supplies, as we cans see here. “Switching to a picture of several hundred people swarming around the cargo container, grabbing their contents. “We see here foodstuffs, supplies and weapons, though we aren’t perfectly sure, they look to be Kalashnikov assault rifles.” He straightened up, and the map of Doomingsland reappeared. “This concludes my report.” He said

“Thank you, Operation Director Kerklin, you may take your seat.” said Director-General Davis. “There you have it, folks.”

Executer Hessian spoke up. “Operations Director, from what nation do those planes originate?”

Kerklin looks up at her. “Executer, We are not sure, SatRec surveillance was spotty, and some of the follow on satellites moved out of range, we believe we picked them up, again, nearing the Pacific ocean, and Seabelt RADAR operators report contact with several bogies, though they did not enter Directorate Seabelt airspace. We are, then assuming that the nation in question is located somewhere in the West Pacific, and our analysts are current attempt to reconstruct their flight paths.”

“I see.” she said coolly, “Find that nation, and inform me, I will bring this before the Synod, and it will vote if we are to extend our hand in partnership to whoever this nation may be.

“Yes ma’am” said Director-General Davis. “Kerklin, I assume you can handle this for me?”

Kerklin replied, “Yes sir! It will be done.”

“Very good, I want something substantial turned into Sub-Commander Bensly by 0900, and, Sub-Commander you will, of course forward this to me.

“Of course, sir.” he said

Davis regarded the Executer. “Ma’am I believe you will have your information no later than 1100 hours tomorrow morning.”

She looked right back at, him cold blue eyes held a piercing stare. “See to it, Director General. If we’ve nothing else to discuss then lets adjourn this meeting.” she said

There were no other comments; she stood form her seat, and the people around the table stood at attention and saluted, as she departed.

Davis turned back to the group. “Good work people, keep it up.” he said and saluted. The group saluted him, and they began to disperse.

OOC:I never even got a chance to respond to your infiltrating bombers when they broke over the mainland. Let's take this back a bit, shall we?

IC:

As the bombers broke the mainland, they were spotted visualy by one of the many ground observers. He called in their location to a fighter wing and several AAA batteries. Unfortunately for the bombers, their subsonic speed would prove to be a drawback. Six 20mm vulcan gattling cannons traversed onto the bombers, and let loose a hail of explosive rounds. Meanwhile, eight F78s quickly caught up to them, and loosed two sidewinders each before going to cannons. The bombers still had quite a ways to go before getting to the camp, too, and flying low over a country that allows civilians to posses MANPADs and AAA isn't a good idea, especialy when flying subsonic in an obviously foreign looking bomber...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Caesar Six had been maneuvering about the bomber formation, trying to pump rounds into the cockpits of the aircraft. His aircraft was actualy one of the most maneuverable in the world, so dogfighting him would be next to impossible for a bomber. As he was doing that, another six fighters arrived on scene, letting loose a barrage of two sidewinders each before picking a target to use cannons on.

OOC: Fine. Though your entire country can't be populated, I looked for strips of land unpopulated. Please note this when reading the response. Also, don't forget logistics.

"Sir, we've exited Doomingsland airspace... and we got several bogies coming in strong, it looks like they want to finish what they started."

Flock 2 Lead swore. "Switch to cannons, pursue on my target, sending target information now."

It came up, and they were to attack all six. "I want all of you to watch each others backs, do you hear?" He felt that twist in the pit of his stomach, the knowledge that this could be the end. But he knew that he would have died for a cause of promoting life... and dropping aid packages.

Then the sidewinders dropped off. They were spinning in close. "Hit evasive, try to shake the missiles!" The aircraft maneuvered in the sky, several dropping low, some increasing altitude, as the missiles drew near. Meanwhile, flurries of bullets sped by, catching the wings and body of the aircraft. Several of the men reported damage.

"Keep heading out to the ocean!" called Flock 2 Lead. The crafts were moving further and further. "Countermeasures at your discretion." Pulling into a half-loop, he pressed down on his yolk and dove for a moment in corkscrew pattern before rising once more. He dropped a countermeasure, which was quickly picked up by a Sidewinder, the explosion shaking the air around him. The shrapnel flew back, slamming into the twin sidewinder and sending it into a firey explosion. Several others did the same, leading a mere 6 sidewinders in the air but no more countermeasures. The seven aircraft, now fairly banged up, were maneuvering, dodging bullets as they dodged missiles.

Bird 10 banked on one wing as he saw the sidewinder approaching. His backseater was giving him the constant direction of the missile. It passed, flying past but again looping around. Target data came in quickly as it tracked, and with a precise few shots he put a bullet in the cylindrical sidewinder. It spun off in an explosion.

In a cheer of joy, he laughed as he and Flock 2 Lead found themselves free of missiles, but it was soon dampened as a massive explosion shook the air - two of the sidewinders had caught Bird 12. His craft exploded into a fiery blaze, catapulting down to the ocean below. There were 3 sidewinders in the air, but they were running out of fuel, and would not be able to keep pursuing.

The bullets clunked against the side of the aircraft. "Alright, switch to missiles and on my mark cut speed to one quarter... mark." The aircraft practically fell out of the sky, it seemed, as the pursuing aircraft at their high speeds raced ahead of them, however they had caught the maneuver and were aiming to make another pass. However, they had the advantage. "Engage engines at full, now!" Locks came up on his screen. The backseater told him that the others had also locked. "Fire at will."

From the Boreas bombers, a phoenix missile sprung out from each, with the exception of Flock 2 Leader, who let loose two at two different targets. Each of the hostile fighters had one on their tail. "Retreat to Home Nest, let them deal with these!" The Captain called over the comm as they moved swiftly across the ocean, hoping for safety.

-

Flock 1 felt that the ground would be a safe haven, but all of the air traffic errupting from the comm channels told him otherwise. They had been compromised. But Home Nest continued to press them to finish their mission.
They dipped down along the deserted landscape, quickly passing over the grounded guns that were firing on them.

Alarms sounded in the cockpit of Bird 3. "Sir, I've been tagged fairly badly."
"Stay with it, son!" came the response. They continued to move, somewhat damaged. Blips started to come in, approaching at high speeds. "We've got bogies on our tail... they've released a payload. 16 sidewinders." The geographical map was showing a canyon not too far away, with no electronic signatures in the immediate area. "We're going to take to the canyons, everyone set thrusters to 75% upon entrance, wait to release 1 countermeasure on my mark..."

As they dipped low into the canyon, he said the word. "Mark." The Countermeasures ejected just as they flew, some of them landing on the ground at the cliff of the canyon. The Boreas bombers continued downwards though, and as they did, the sidewinders began slamming into the ground at the cliff due to confusion - the countermeasures so close to the cliff as well as the actual crafts below ground level caused several to slam against the ground near it's edge, others exploding by the countermeasures.

OOC:Lemme get them map of my country.

IC:

At the bottom of the canyon was a battery of three 20mm vulcans. As soon as the bombers dipped down, the cannons immediatly lit them up, almost completely filling the narrow canyon with 20mm high explosive incindiery rounds. As that was happening, the fighters stuck behind and above the bombers, outside of the canyon. As soon as they pulled up, they would be greeted by another swarm of sidewinders...

-----------

The Phoenix missile, while an excellent weapon, was definately NOT suited for close in air-to-air action, as was demonstrated when the Phoenixes completely overshot the stealthy aircraft. After that, the missiles completely lost track of the aircraft, and exploded in midair.

As the bombers fled away, the fighters slowed down to a subsonic speed. They each then released four AiM-154 AXRAAM missiles, guided via LIDAR, LADAR, and RADAR, making countermeasures almost useless against the mach four missiles. Once released, tiny winglets would fold out. When coupled with the missile's vectored thrust system, they were easily more maneuverable then the bombers.

OOC: Thanks, helps a lot :) Although I scanned for electronic signatures, I'm sure I would have picked up the Vulcan cannons in the canyon. Think we can alter that, out of fairness?

IC: He knew the Phoenix missiles wouldn't work - however, the distraction gave them enough time to get a fairly good lead. The High Command was going to tear a strip off of him, though, wasting such expensive equipment. However, they began to receive a target lock. "Pull up!" Flock 2 Lead called over the comm.

Immediately the group of five in a haphazard delta formation drew up sharply into the air. "Take to maneuver 5-C." The group began crossing underneath one another repeatedly, corkscrewing. The maneuver threw off the LIDAR and LADAR systems, since they required superior altitude to work efficiently, but also would detect two bombers as one as they passed over one another. They had fired them too quickly - during the maneuver, and the advanced missiles began heading for them at an extremely fast speed.

"Re-engage RADAR dampeners and drop on my signal." The moments seemed like hours. "Wait for it..." he spoke over the comm... "Wait for it... NOW!" The fighters in unison dropped their noses. Since their LADAR and LIDAR locks and tracking were obscure, the missiles missed them by a wingspan. He turned to his backseater. "Get me target info on those missiles, transmit them to the other 4!" He then spoke into the comm. "Pull up, engage interceptors." the AIM-120 AMRAAMs came up - they were lucky they didn't sacrifice their entire armanent for the crates. The target locks were quick and efficient with the targeting system. However, the LADAR and LIDAR locks were a bit stronger now. They were coming in fast. "Fire!"

The Slammers flew from the bay and sped towards the missiles, chasing them down as they chased the bombers down. Caught on a precise angle, fired at the right time, they did their purpose - the pursuing missiles exploded in a fiery mass. "Split up, we'll fight another day." They then brought themselves to their full high subsonic speed and broke into a group of 3 and 2, flying fast.

OOC:Um, why would they give off an electronic signal? They're crew served, not automated, the only electronics are the radioes the crew is using to communicate with the other batteries and fighters. Besides, I have so few canyons in the area you'd be over by now that it'd be safe to assume I have an anti-air presense in just about all of them. And the AMRAAM's a medium range, it probably wouldn't have the maneuvering power to hit even one of those missiles, but I'll let it slide. Other than that, you should RP more often, your the only person who's actualy put up a decent fight in an air battle with me.

IC:

"Bandits are getting away, sir."

"No shit. Continue pursuit, I want to bag some of those fuckers." replied Caesar Six, who'd made only two kills so far. He wanted to be an ace.

"Roger that." replied his wingman over the heavily encrypted channel.

The fighters headed to supercruise and shut their radar off, allowing for the AWACS bird to guide them. They then split off into two groups of three, going after both groups of enemy fighters. The results would make it look as if they'd broken off, or completely disappeared, as there would be nothing to detect them with.

They closed in, supercruising at mach 2.4, maintaining a high degree of stealthyness with the active systems preventing detection. Once in range, they'd release four IR guided AIM-9X sidewinders each. The bombers probably wouldn't even know what hit them until the missiles were right on them, and by then, the fighters would have showered their cockpits with 30mm HE rounds from their cannons. By the time they opened up with cannons, they would have matched speed with the bombers to prevent overshooting them.

(note, the AIM-9X version is very resistant to countermeasures. I should have specified which version I was using before, though)

Operations Director Kerklin sat at his desk studying the satellite images of the air battle over Doomingsland, and deciding his next move.

A knock on the door interrupted him

“Yes, come.” he said

An Intelligence Analyst entered the room, saluted and handed him a manila envelope. “Sit, these are the updated images of the air battle over the ocean, and, if you look, we can clearly see that two of the bombers went down over the ocean.”

There it was, on the digitally enhanced photos. Two large ripples ion the water, as well as fires here and there, and pieces of wreckage floating.

“Perhaps there we’re survivors?” he thought out loud. “You’re dismissed.” He said to the Analyst, who saluted and departed the room

He picked up his phone, dialing Sub-Commander Bensly

“Sir, it appears several of the bombers went down over the ocean. If we could maybe slip a sub into the area, retrieve the crew, of they’re alive, or some of the mechanical parts of the downed aircraft, I’m sure we could learn a great deal of information, and the host country would love to have the items back.”

Sub-Commander Bensly thought about this for a moment.

“Alright, I’ll call Star Island and have the Section Commander there “ask” Grand Admiral Pherson to dispatch a sub to the location.”

“Thank you, sir.”

Star Island Naval Base
Directorate Seabelt Waters
Pacific Ocean

Tropical Star Island had long been a joint Transnapastaini-Nailiak garrison, housing one of Transnapastain’s primary shipyards. After the establishment of the Directorate Seabelt, Star Island had become the home of the Directorate Naval Air Force, as well as retaining the position of Transnapastain’s Fleet Headquarters in for that region.

Grand Admiral Pherson sat at his desk, staring out over the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. Watching the bustling dockyard below. On one side, keels for ships we’re being worked on, destroyers, cruisers, and, one new aircraft carrier were underway. On the other side, ships not out on patrol were moored. The defense fleets carrier the Holy Union could be seen clearly, sitting idle in the outer part of the bay, the flotilla of ships surrounding it like sentinels.

“Admiral?” said an aide

“Yes?” he asked.

“Sir, Section Commander Fion requests to see you.” Reported the aide

“Oh, I see, send her in.,” replied the Admiral

Section Commander Fion entered the room, saluted, and took a seat across from the Admiral.

“What can I do for you, Section Commander?” he asked

“I’ve just received a request from Command, to dispatch a sub to these co-ordinates, to retrieve parts from, or the crews of, several downed aircraft.”

“I see, I’m sure command realizes that these co-ordinates are pretty close to Doomingsland?”

“Yes, however, territorial waters only extend out from 3-12 miles from a nations coastline.” she replied

“Indeed, according to these readings, the bombers went down roughly 30km off the coast, that’s roughly 18 miles, however, the other one, was roughly 15km, which works out to 9 miles.” The Admiral replied.

“Hmm, yes, you’re correct.” she admitted, though Pherson wasn’t sure if she truly was mistaken, or was simply hoping he’d overlook that slight miss calculation. “Well, a Seawolf-class sub should be able to sit just inside International waters, and recover the two outer bombers, and we could launch a mini-sub in to retrieve the third one.” she suggested

“Hmm, that could work, if all else fails, a Seawolf may be able to slip in and out.” He conceded. “Though, I believe we should leave the mission planning to the Commander on station. It’ll be his risk, so it would be his choice.”

“Agreed” she said “Well, then, Several Seawolf’s are already out on patrol around the Seabelt. I’m sure one of them could be dispatched without creating to much of a stir?”

“Indeed, ill have the orders transmitted within the hour.”

Seawolf-class sub Able
Directorate Patrol
Directorate Seabelt, Pacific Ocean.

The Seawolf Submarines were one of the most state of the art submarines available. Completely SONAR baffled, it was essentially a “stealth” sub.

On the bridge, the communications console blinked as it received a message.

“Captain, incoming high-priority signal coming in from command, code-clearance…level 5.”

Captain Henderson looks up from the arm of his command chair, and down at the communications officer.

“Ill take it in my ready-room, Ensign.” He said, standing up, and walking towards the door. He walked inside, and sat down, and activated his communications console., decryption he messages it read.

“Attn: Captain Henderson, SSN-104 Able
From: Star Island TNRHQ
Clearance Code: Top Secret.

Detach from current patrol, and proceed at once to enclosed location. Conduct salvage and rescue operations (if applicable). If situation seems safe, enter into Doomingsland territorial waters, and conduct salvage and rescue (if applicable) operations at final location. If situation seems hostile, do not violate territorial waters, and RTB ASAP.

--TNRHQ--“

“Well then.” Said the Captain out loud, as he returned to the bridge.

“Attention, we are changing course, to bearing 134-67. The ship is to enter silent running, so no unnecessary noise. Our mission is to rescue some downed pilots of an unknown country, and, more importantly, recover artifacts from the aircraft, most importantly, the aircraft black boxes.” he said, as the helmsmen adjusted course, and brought the ship to bear on the target. “May God be with us on this mission.” He announced.

“Aye sir, glory to God.” replied the bridge crew.

Battle Group Constantine, edge of Doomingsland Waters

High Admiral Junius Cassius sat upon his gilded command chair, surveying the mighty fleet assembled before him. He'd just received word of the air battle, and had dispatched a squadron of F78As and F/A91Ds to gaurd the wreckage of all of the bombers down over the water. In addition to that, he'd ordered three Seawolf-class attack subs to head over and gaurd the area from any submarine activity (yes, I also use the Seawolf), in addition to two Ticonderoga destroyers.

"Ensign, what's the time to target for those VTOLs?"

"Ten minutes, Admiral." replied the ensign in charge of flight ops. The Adimiral's flagship, the DLS Constantine, a Dominion-class Triamarin Super Carrier, had also dispatched six MV-68 Banshee VTOL transports. Three would be sent to each crash sight, one for extracting the crew, the rest for the recovery of the bomber's systems.

"Alright, fair 'nuff. Keep me posted." replied the old admiral, going back to reviewing intellegence about the air battle that was occuring.

They would definately have the advantage over the Transnapastainian subs, as they not only had the speed, they had the firepower (and were closer).

As soon as the ICBMs had been launched, the SDI systems had come online. Roughly ten defense satelites were in orbit over Doomingsland. As the MIRVs approached, the sats each launched twenty kinetic kill missiles, designed to destroy the warheads before they could come down. In addition to that, they made use of their lasers to fry the missiles. The sheer amount of the guided munitions and lasers coming at the warheads kept any from coming through.

Meanwhile, a satelite weapons platform, armed with twelve six megaton MIRVs, unleashed its entire payload, which would travel in orbit before reentering and coming crashing down on the silo complex and Rome.

In addition to that, two thousand Peacekeeper ICBMs were launched from throughout the country. Each ICBM had twelve three megaton MIRVs, making for a grand total of 24,000 nuclear warheads, all evenly spread throughout the Roman Republic. This would likely turn them into a nice sheet of glass...

“Yes sir!” shouted an officer, who ran from a communications console.

“Sir, the trajectory of the missiles looks as if we aren’t the target, we’re reading it as a country somewhere in the European landmass.”

“Right, stand down our missile defense, inform Kaukolastan to remain ready, but, the Directorate is most likely not the target.” Said Kerklin with obvious relief

“Sir, several missiles hit in the Rome Republic, mass casualties.”

“Tell Kaukolastan thanks from the cover, and that the threat has passed, for the time.”

“Yes sir!”

At that moment Kerklin’s phone began to ring, he answered it.

“OD, this is Director-General Davis, We are terminating this operation, we’ve already sent orders to the subs in the area.”

“Understood sir.” replied Kerklin

“Davis out.” he said, and hung up.

All civilians are instructed to proceed calmly to the nearest hardened bunker, if this is not possible proceed to a basement or subway tunnels, do so now. "Do we have a hard count on the number of missiles inbound?" "No sir. we have a rough count of approximately 2000 and climbing. OOC:RR, you apparently don't know how to RP. You can't just say you laser planes suddenly arrived in my territory in the same post you launched them. And those "baby nukes" sound pretty godmodlyish (7200 thirty megaton nukes off of thirty satelites? right...)

Miehm, how many aircraft did you send?

Coast of Doomingsland

"Marcus, what are those!" exclaimed on of the men on the anti-aircraft battery to his commander. Marcusm stepped over to the sandbag embankment over looking the cliff and raised his binoculars.

"Hmm, those look like.... not ours! Shit! Open fire!"

As he was yelling, his battery of three 20mm Vulcan gattling cannons opened up on the low-flying formation. The enemy made nice, easy targets, what with them flying low to the sea and all. As his battery opened up, about twenty others came online, filling the sky with 20mm high-explosive-incindiery rounds. The formation now had sixty guns on them. Not a pretty sight on their end.

As that happened, a squadron of thirty F78s, with their active stealth going and their radar shut off to prevent detection, launched ten AMRAAMs each from twenty miles away at the formation, allowing the missiles to be guided by a nearby AWACS.

The resulting effect would be the AAA lighting up the formation as a swarm of AMRAAMs came in to finish off any survivors.

As the enemy batteries open fire they are lit up like xenon lamps and carrated for engagement by the shrikes cannon and the fighters are engaged by the shrike missile systems. The banshees are all at low altitude and suffer minimal damage except for 2 empties and 1 manned shuttle that are forced to make emergency landings with heavy casualties. 50 of the shrikes are lost in the first volley but the remaining 50 return fire and go to after burner evasive avoiding the remainder of the flak in a "flikker" manuever that turns them 180 degrees in an instant. (OOC: The Flikker is a manuever first made possible by the harrier jump jets vector fans that does a 180 turn almost instantly, it is only preformable by V-TOL aircraft)

OOC: Doomingsland, after launching 24 000 nuclear warheads, your in no place to be nitpicking.

Shasoria, the West Pacific:

The High Command was frantic, as the supreme minister sat in his chair and watched the events unfold on the holoprojector. A nuclear strike had been called in retaliation. "What kind of fool are we dealing with?!" Grodin, the Defence Minister, grumbled. "He pursues outside of his Air Space, and launches a full nuclear strike?"

They knew what Doomingsland's full-force attacks of nuclear warheads would do to his economy, not to mention all the costs this past day had ultimately been denting Doomingsland - the sheer cost of the launching and replacement of all that they had lost - replacing aircraft armament missiles, replacing inventory on orbital defence platforms, new nuclear missiles, fuel, manpower, the resources moving entire fleets eats up - Doomingsland would be borrowing money for decades, and dreaming of what it was once like to have an economic surplus.

"Order all bombers to abandon mission. Tell them to retreat at all costs..."
Grodin looked at him. "Sir, they likely won't make it alive."

"There are some days when you just have to fold, Elias. Those men knew what sacrifice was before they got into the cockpit."

The senior staff looked at the Supreme Minister, dumbfounded. "Do it."

OOC: Doomingsland, low fast flying planes and shuttles on a hard terrrain setting are anything but easy targets, they are moving just below mach 1 and maneuvering to make themselves harder targets. part of terrain following gear is that a hard setting has you as close to the ground as possible without being suicidal. the reason is to reduce the time spent in the engagement envolope.

Miehm, I believe you were approaching from the ocean, and that's hardly what I call rough terrain. More like the opposite. Besides, most of the country is desert, there's not much rough terrain to speak of. The effect would be the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish. If you're flying straight at an anti-aircraft battery, you are most likely gonna get blown up.

Attn. Doomingsland

Over the previous night certain high ranking members of our government were assasinated and the house of law has signed a bill that has changed the form of democracy in our nation. The new law places almost all power in the hands of the states and as such curtails the power of the executive branch. At 05:00 this morning GMT I have been informed that we will be executing the SHEVA Option involving a transition to full nuclear active and saturation bombardment. We will also be calling up all reserve forces and activating all front line combat units for purposes of all out invasion if we are not permitted to evacuate the slaves unjustly held under inhuman conditions in camp 182 without further hostilities. This is the will of the states of The Confederacy and I have no power to countermand this directive. I beseech you to release the prisoners without continued violence, so that we may prevent needless loss of life.

OOC:Ah, I get it, if it's in a video game, it's automatically possible in RL...

Yeah, so what if your laser aircraft patrol the skies 24/7? You never RPed flying them near my territory. Secondly, you can't just say "my bombers easily entered the territory" without accounting for AWACS and other, more powerful radar. Also, my homemade NS stuff DOES make sense, as the stealth systems they're using (active radar wave cancellation) are alot stealthier than the conventional stealth on your aircraft. Another thing, you can't just mobilize your forces and have them arrive in my waters a post later. That would be impossible.

I can see RPing with you will get me no where, let's just forget this ever happened (unless you REALLY want to have to respond to the 24,000 nukes and somehow come up with a way to have a single satelite carry a few hundred 30 megaton nukes). This RP was pretty fun until you had to go and use n00ks for seemingly no reason.

Miehm, nations under two months can't have nuclear arsenals, it's a common rule.

IC:

Coast of Doomingsland

As the Miehm fighters moved to close with the F78s, the F78s quickly unleashed a volley of six sidewinders each before quickly turning with their vectored thrust systems and heading away at mach three, quickly getting out of range of the enemy fighters.

As that was happening, coastal surface to air missile batteries came online in their underground verticle launch tubes. The doors swung open, and the SA-12 missiles exploded out of their boxes, streaking towards the fighters. A total of three hundred missiles were unloaded on them, virtualy depleting the local batteries of ammunition in under three minutes.

Meanwhile, the 20mm cannons continued to fire on the low flying shuttles, making use of the lack of cover on the part of the enemy and the fact they were flying very low (very good for AAA).

Finnaly, a larger wave of F78s (numbering fifty), guided by an AWACS, each unloaded ten AIM-154 AXRAAM air-to-air missiles from 210 miles away. The missiles would activate their fold-out winglets and accelerate to mach four. Upon getting close to the target, they would use vectored thrust and thust nozzles (in the noze of the missiles) to maneuver (also making use of the winglets). The resulting effect would be a swarm of highly maneuverable missiles decending on what was left of the Meihm force.

OOC:The no nuke rule is a VERY commonly accepted one in NS (ask anyone besides me), so I'd be inclined to ignore any nuclear weapons used on me by you. Besides, your defense budget is less than three billion, therefore you yourself are, infact, godmoding in relation to the size of your airforce (no way you'd have that much stuff with as small a budget as that). The nuclear arsenal of mainland China really isn't that big by RL standards. The US has roughly 20,000 nuclear weapons in it's arsenal, and the Former Soviet Union had even more. Nuclear arsenals in NS generaly exceed 100,000 warheads. As for my forces appearing out of nowhere:

My airspace is routinly patroled by aircraft, and since its a wartime situation, I'd say patrols have been tripled. It IS over my territory, so I think it'd be safe to assume the fighters are already there. I never said there wasn't be a blackhole effect, you should have RPed your pilots taking advantage of it.

Also, the northern land happens to be another country (Shenyang), and I'm pretty sure he won't want you flying through his airspace (TG him if your gonna try and go through)

RR, I don't care if they constantly patrol the skies. What you don't seem to get is the fact that you seem to believe they automatically appear wherever a nuke is launched at you without you having to RP moving them.

The swiss terrified hitler out of his mind. In the years preceding ww2 there was a postcard going around with Ghoering asking a swiss militia man what he would do if a 100000 strong german army marched into switzerland against its army of 50000, the militia mans reply was that he would shoot twice, as would every other militia man. The swiss stayed neutral because they were not attacked. Throughout history the swiss have prepared for war and gotten peace, while other nations prepare for peace and get conquered.

"Wait one, Charlie." A pause. "Charlie One, I am not detecting IFF venerating from those craft. However, you are ordered to pull back fifty miles and allow for anti-aircraft to do its work."

"Roger, command, pulling out."

The three F78s rolled and hit their afterburners, sending them further into their territory. As the hostile bombers arrived over Doomingsland airspace, surface-to-air missile batteries sprang to life.

Within the mountain passes sat verticle launch cells for SAMs. As the bombers passed over, the doors to the cells swung open, revealing their deadly cargo. Suddenly, the mountains were consumed with smoke from the SA-12 missiles as they rocketed into the sky towards the bombers. Roughly seventy missiles were launched.

As that happened, a squadron (30) of F78s began to form up over three hundred miles away...

OOC: I'm not coming in over the mountains I'm coming in through the approximately 5 mile gap in your ground defenses between the first and second batteries near new rome. I'm guessing that the blue squares on the coast are your AA batteries. If not please provide a comprehensive key for your map.

We urge you to end slavery in your country as it is a barbaric, cruel practice that is both primitive and uncivilized. We live in the 21st century, not the 17th. Holy Paradise will not provide you and your supporters anything unless you free the slaves, however, as we are allies, Holy Paradise will not help the slaves either. But please, for the sake of God, ban slavery in your country.

OOC:Ya know, I don't really remember what anything other than the cities are. Those might be smaller towns, but I'm not sure. Verticle launch batteries (forty missiles) are placed at 5-10 mile intervals (note, these are unmanned, control centers are roughly 100 miles away in underground bunkers). Vulcan batteries are thrown in randomly along the mountain borders, but are located every five or so miles along the coast (the coast is honeycombed with tunnels, so supply and transportation isn't a problem.)

OOC: all right back to the fighting on the coast.

IC: As the remaining escorts engage the enemy fighters, the mostly undamaged transports streak on towards the embattled slaves of camp 182. Now that they have passed the coastal batteries the Banshees begin to accelerate, quickly breaking mach 1 and reaching top speed just short of mach 2. The division in transport is less than happy about the speed at which they are moving, but all have been trained for high G maneuvers in their transports.

Red one: Launch Doppleganger's and go to full active on radar, over.
Escort squad: Roger WilCo, over.
Red one: Engage hostiles at will, Red one out.

The Shrikes launch Doppleganger missiles, decoys programmed to exactly mimic a Shrike's active radar emissions, and drop the hammer to close more quickly. As they enter targeting range, they open fire with all remaining ordnance and hope its enough. They each launch 2 LANCE missiles and open up with their nose mounted 20 mm chain guns. There are sparks jumping from the opposing fighters were the bullets hit but they are unable to determine if they are doing any damage.

OOC:You never actualy posted how many of your fighters were shot down by the AAA, SAMs, and that huge volley of missiles. I kinda need to know how many are left (if any) for me to post accurate losses.
Miehm
24-03-2005, 16:50
OOC: previous post is the fighting on the east coast not the combat on the northern border. northern border is this post.

IC: Twenty five of the Shrikes were shot down immediatley while the remainder managed to survive for the moment. Ten of the original thirty Phoenix strategic bombers survived the fire and accelerated past mach 2 to make their runs toward the camp. Only five of the 20 shuttles crashed, but another three were badly damaged and were forced to land. The 25 remaining Shrikes were loaded with 2 Dopplegangers and 2 LANCE missiles each. All 25 launched both of their Dopplegangers and hoped it would be enough. As they came into range of the enemy fighters, noticable for their black hole effect, they opened fire with their chain guns at the locations where the enemy should be. While not sure if they'd done any damage they hoped they could at least make the enemy fire without optimal targeting solutions.

OOC: Miehm, are you making any assaults from the southeastern area or the south for that matter? I woulden't if I were you, but if you really want to... go ahead.

IC: The emperor had declared Defcon 2, and all Anti Air batteries were fully manned and functional for the first time in a few years. The ground forces on the Doomingslandian border were mobilized and were heading off to provide support, if any was ever needed.
Air Patrols were increased along the northern and northeastern borders, and mobile radar stations were being deployed ever few miles for better detection of enemy Aircraft.

OOC:Man, this is starting to get confusing.

OK, let's figure this out.

How many fighters do you have on the east coast and how many do you have to the north? Same goes for bombers and shuttles. If I remember correctly, I have thirty or so fighters on the east coast, and another thirty on the north.

From now on, let's try to put both battles in one post, shall we?
Miehm
24-03-2005, 17:59
OOC: alright. on the north 25 of fifty fighters survived (but should register on radar as 75 because of Doppleganger missiles) with 12 shuttles (three shuttles are grounded but not destroyed with a full battalion onboard each) and 10 bombers. (the bombers have gone past mach 2 and are most likely outside your engagement envelope.) to the east 50 of 100 fighters survived (and should still register as 100 because of more Dopplegangers) 17 of twenty shuttles survived (currently leaving your AA envelope and known fighter engagement range) and there were no bombers in this flight.

OOC:Alright, thanks, that helps alot.

IC:

Northern Area

The fighters had linked up and were now 210 miles from the fighters. The formation of thirty-two fighters had been thoughrouly baffled by the Dopplegangers, but had enough missiles to destroy every radar contact the AWACS reported. And, so, at a range of 200 miles, each fighter loosed ten AIM-154 AXRAAM missile, making for a total of 310 missiles streaking at the formation. The missiles would head to mach four, extending their wings, and head towards the formation, using their vectored thrust and thrust nozzles to maneuver more effectively. When the launched, the bombers had hit mach two, but had not yet passed the fighter formation, so would probably be caught up in the barrage.

OOC:If any survive that, RP when they get within twenty miles.

Eastern Coast

The sudden appearence of fifty more fighters had confused the already outnumbered squadron, yet they fought on. When the enemy fighter launched their missiles, the squadron responded with four AIM-9X Sidewinders each (heat seaking, so the Dopplegangers won't work as well, plus its much closer so they'd be able to see the difference). As the enemy missiles approached, the aircrafts' advanced countermeasure systems went to work. The aircraft each had a small, high powered microwave beam as part of their countermeasure systems. These beams were fired at the enemy missiles, literaly frying the circuits. The aircraft then kicked on their double-pulse systems on their engines, propeling them to mach 5.4 for that time, causing them to shoot right past the enemy aircraft. They then made use of their advanced vectored thrust and wing systems to turn around, putting their noses on the enemy aircraft, letting loose with their 30mm cannons. By now they could easily see the difference between the fighters and the Dopplegangers.

OOC:Want me to go dig up the specs for the fighter?

OOC I cant access the specs, the page won't load. question: did you ignore my 20 mm chain guns or did you take minimal damage?

IC:

North
The bombers had made it inside the minimum arming distance of the enemy missiles and opened up with their chain guns to clear a path ahead of them, blowing past the confused fighters. The fighter escort continued to fight valaintly despite mounting losses and being out of Dopplegangers the 25 remaining suffered another 5 losses but their active defenses, combined with the confusion of the Dopplegangers appearance greatly mitigated the damage to the squadron. As they approached the twenty mile mark they went to full auto on their nose guns and both wing vulcans hoping against hope to destroy the fighters in their path. One of the landed shuttles held the heavy weapons of two full infantry battalions, including man portable SAM's and heavy machineguns. The heavy support elements of two embattled battalions set up on the plains below the aerial dogfight and added the immediatley available firepower of their company machineguns to the mix. The remaining shuttles flew on unscathed, thanks to the sacrifice of the fighters and the help of the bombers chain guns.

Coast

The shuttles rocketed towards the camp at their top speed of just under mach 2 in the hopes that they would be able to avoid further interceptions and the losses that would follow. The fighters, passed by the sudden blistering speed of their enemies turned end for end in a flikker maneuver that dropped their altitude and took them out of the missiles flight paths. The remaining Dopplegangers continued in their straight line courses drawing off more missiles in the proccess.

Try that.

No, the fighters hit their afterburners before you got within gun range and went by.

IC:

Northern Area

The bombers had done little damage with their little strafing run, but had actualy caused more trouble for themselves. Rather than going after the other fighters, the fighters turned towards the mach two bombers. Contrary to the belief of the enemy pilots, the bombers were still very vulnerable, as the fighters had a top speed of mach 3.8.

They quickly turned towards the bombers, matching speed, and opening up with sidewinders and 30mm cannons.

Meanwhile, the shuttles that had been forced to land came under fire from over one hundred 155mm artillery batteries along the borders. The rounds fired contained cluster munitions, and would have devastating effects on the infantry.

Further back at another airbase, another squadron of F78s was launched, this time to intercept the shuttles that had gotten through.

Coastal Area

As the enemy fighters turned, the F78s opened up with their 30mm cannons.

Meanwhile, the shuttles had attracted the attention of three F78s on patrol further in the country. As with the bombers, the fighters simply matched speed and opened up with cannons.

OOC: your fighters look alot like the F-22 Peregrine variant. Also your three eastern fighters need to worry about the 30 or so "planes" that will soon be coming up behind them. What is the distance to the camp (approximately) from the sea?

North

IC: The swiftly fleeing bombers engaged their dorsal guns and their heavier ventral cannon and brought them to bear on the trailing fighters. As the last bomber in the formation became too damaged to fly he released his payload of Two FAE's in the hopes of catching the enemies in the blast. As the twenty remaining fighters rocketed towards their top speed of mach 3.5 they opened fire with their remaining missiles and both of their heavy 30 mm cannon. The shuttles, Knowing that it was their only hope, opened fire with their light 20 mm cannon and their single heavier 30 mm chain.

Coast

The fighters ineffective fire at this range does little damage to the incoming shrikes. As the range closes, they fire their heavy chain guns and lighter 20 mm cannon with 2 planes concentrating on each enemy to bring them down. The 17 shuttles concentrate thier light defensive armament on the fighters with six to each enemy.

Banshee Mk1 shuttles with medium armor and no weapons
OOC:OK, you specifically stated before that the shuttles are unarmed, so I'm ignoring any attack from them. And you relize shooting backwards at supersonic speed doesn't actualy work (the rounds don't go anywhere, this happened with the Valkerie bomber)

IC:

Northern Area

The fighters, upon reading the enemy fighters begin to close on radar, hit their afterburners, sending them to mach 3.8, and putting them far in front of the bombers, out of gun range. They then quickly snapped around and loosed four sidewinders each on the bombers before shooting past them and opening up on the approaching fighters with cannons. For once, they had the advantage in numbers, and used that, along with their superior maneuverability, to their advantage.

Eastern Coast

Upon seeing none of the enemy fighters go down, the F78s, once again, hit their afterburners, sending them to mach 3.8, causing them to overshoot the enemy formation once more. This time, they immediatly turned upon overshooting, putting their nose on the enemy aircraft and allowing the 30mm cannon to automatically target the hostile fighters, letting it rotate around in their self-sealed bubbles, giving them a larger cone of fire and more accuracy.

Meanwhile, the three fighters decided to turn their attack on the unarmed shuttles into a shooting contest, seeing who can shoot the cockpits out of the shuttles the quickest.

Miehm
25-03-2005, 00:04
OOC: I did didn't I. Forgot about that minor detail. Mk 2 is armed Mk 1 is not, my bad. 1. If my Guns are firing at an oncoming target I garauntee at least one of your planes would have been hit or shot down. 2. Since you're not operating V-TOL aircraft you would have to make a banking turn, if you did not then at that acceleration your pilots just sustained about 15G's and are either dead or unconcious. 3. If you did make a banking turn then you would have overshot my squadron again and been right back in front of them. 4. Your fighters just got caught in no less than TWO fuel air explosions at that speed, and any slower than that will catch them in at least one of the two. An FAE is the next best thing to nukes and is extremely easy to make. 5. Even if you did some how avoid every single bullet missile and bomb you would be sucked towards the explosions if you are within 3 kilometers of the blast, because the combustion of that much of any thing sucks in all the oxygen in the FAE's blast radius. 6. Even if they escape the incoming shockwave they will be hit by the outgoing shockwave and be brutally damaged or slammed into the ground.7. Firing backwards sure does have an affect. Newtons first law: Object at rest stays at rest. The bullets have the muzzle velocity of high powered aircraft cannon.
Doomingsland
25-03-2005, 15:08
OOC:The fighters, traveling at the speed they were, would've passed the FAE's before they even touched the ground. And I just relized something. Cannons wouldn't work at supersonic speeds as the rounds don't travel fast enough. The bullets wouldn't even leave the barrels! In otherwords, a good chunk of this battle has just become invalid...

Let's just close it down, it's become too messed up.
