The conquest of the North American colonies was a huge success, so there was no doubt that the navy and the ITDGF were ready to take on a new task, perhaps a more difficult task. The word had come from the home office, the occupation fleet was to move into the territorial waters of Mexico.

"It turns out that the Emperor purchased land in that area, 10 trillion dollars was exchanged." said the Admirals 2nd in command.

"10 trillion? This land must be something special." replied the Admiral who motioned for the man to sit in the wooden chair in front of the desk.

The Admiral took out a deck of cards and shuffled them. He dealt their hands and put the cards down.

"Poker?" said the Admiral

"Heh, doesn't look I have much of a choice." smiled the man.

The two men picked up their cards and examined them. Neither of them had extraordinary hands, so the game may come down to high card.

"You should be addressing the fleet, no?" said the man.

"Eh, yea, after this hand, ok?" nodded the Admiral.

"Well I have 10 high." shrugged the man.

"Queen of diamonds." nodded the Admiral with a simple smile to his face, "Looks like I win."

"Maybe next time, eh?" replied the man.

"Ha, not if I have anything to say about it." said the Admiral as he stood up and put his cap on.

The Admiral straightened his collar and cracked his knuckles, "Well, at least we won't have to deal with the mormons this time. They put up quite a fight in Salt Lake City."

The man nodded and stood up, saluted the Admiral and walked toward the door, "I'll get the captains of the fleet on the comm."

The Admiral nodded, "Yea."

Upon completion of assimilation, the projected number of Senators from this region is three.

"I don't care. This was supposed to be a peaceful transition of power," said the Admiral with a frown.

"Sir, the Mexicans will never accept Imperial rule without a fight, sir," asserted the destroyer Captain over the comm.

"You know my orders, the Imperium will deal with resistance on a case by case basis," replied the Admiral

"Fine. We will be approaching the docks soon, no? I'll go prepare," said the Captain.

"I'll inform the Lt. General Reck... he joined us onboard last night, he is probably resting," nodded the Admiral.

The Admiral made his way down a dark corridor in the bowels of the ship, he came to a heavy steel door and knocked. The knock echoed from the acoustics of the ship. Movement was heard inside, the door opened, revealing a dark room.

"Enter," said what sounded like the Lt. General.

"Uh, sir... The fleet is about to pull into dock. We have your crew prepared for the transition. We also have the Imperial flag ready for the ceremony," said the Admiral.

"And the Emperor? Any word from him?" questioned the Lt. General.

"Your bro... The Emperor has sent no word, but the Imperial Council sends its final permission to begin the process. I appears that the Emperor is still enjoying his... time away with the Empress," replied the Admiral.

"Leave me, I will arrive on the deck in a few minutes," nodded the Lt. General.

The fleet arrived at the dock nearly 15 minutes later. The small party of officers exited the flagship looked out upon the new Imperial territory.

“Hot,” said a Corporal.

“Indeed, and excellent place to test our nuclear weapons, eh?” said a Captain, with a smile.

“Shut up. This is to be a production sector of the empire, not a radioactive wasteland.” Frowned the Lt. General.

A car drove up to the men, they all piled in.

“To Mexico City?” asked the driver.

“Aye, to Mexico City,” nodded the Lt. General

"... and I assure everyone here that Imperial rule will be enjoyable and peaceful, as well as prosperous to all of you." said the man standing at the podium in the middle of Mexico City.

A man raised his hand.

"Yes?" said the man at the podium, Lt. General Daniel Reck.

A microphone is given to the man in the crowd, "What rights do we have under the Imperium?"

"All questions as to your rights are located in the Imperial Constitution. Read this document, and adhere to it. The law is your life," said the Lt. General.

"What of representation?" asked the man.

"The Imperial Senate allows for members to be elected from the general population. For every fourty million citizens, we allow one senator for representation. We will be allowing three senators from this area."

The man in the crown nodded, "Very well."

The Lt. General gave the signal for two soldiers to raise the Imperial flag over the city, "In the name of the Imperium, I claim this land for the Empire of Itinerate Tree Dweller."

Cheering erupted, with only a very small number shaking their heads in disgust.
