HMS Vanquisher (Vanguard SSBN), South China Sea, Indonesian Waters, Task Force 12

“Periscope up!” Yelled Captain Vladimir across the sub’s control room.
“Aye sir!” Came a voice from the red darkness of the crowed room.
A droning noise sounded as the periscope went up through the darkness of the cold waters of Indonesia. The captain peered through the scope and surveyed the horizon that was now a glowing orange as the Asian sun was beginning to set behind the islands.

Vladimir swivelled the scope around to observe the open waters. He could just make out three destroyers, one cruiser and three assault carriers, all of them flying proudly the Stevid Flag. The captain turned away from the scope for a short moment.

“Sonar! What do you see?”
“Two friendly submarines maintaining formation. HMS Valiant and HMS Violent. Two SSBNs sir.”
“Good… everything is still in order and going unhindered.”

He returned to his scope and turned it starboard side. He saw a huge fleet that showed up rather well despite the light. Over thirty ships were in front of him, the majority seemed to be small aircraft carriers and assault carriers. All of the ships were flying the recognisable flag of Guffingford. The decks on their ships were dormant and barren, everyman attending his duty.

“Periscope down!”
“Periscope down sir! Aye!”
“Commander Fox!”
A thin man who had been observing the radar screen looked up. He was a highly decorated man and his medals shone out brightly and a scar on his left check. A veteran from the war against Swedish Dominions.
“Aye sir?”
“What time is it old boy?”
“Five minutes to six in the afternoon sir!”
“Good. At six o’clock… it begins. Got that?”
“Sir, yes sir!”
“Begin to surface the submarine!”

Three sleek, black nuclear submarines surfaced on the water with destroyers flanking them, behind were the assault craft accompanied by the lone Type 88 Cruiser.
Eight miles to the east lay the Guffingfordii naval fleet, which was already beginning slow down for the invasion of the eastern islands of Indonesia. Sirens sounded from the Stevid and Guffingfordii assault ships and assault craft appeared through the aft gates.

The plan was simple, the Guffingfordii naval forces would land on the island of Java and 4 of it neighbouring islands to the East consisting of Lombok, Sumbawa and the smaller islands next to Sumbawa. Stevid’s smaller task force would handle East Timor, Floras, parts of Sumba and the small islands West of West Irian (West New Guinea).

It was six o’clock and cruisers and destroyer from both fleets fire missiles at suspected strong point positions on the target coastlines. Light explosions could be seen, the light lit up parts of the sea to reveal a fleet of hovercraft and conventional assault craft and helicopters heading for the coastline. Operation Carpe Diem had begun.

"Captain to the bridge!"
"At ease son, has Stevid started the coastal attacks?"
"Aye sir, they have fired missiles at various strategic targets."
"Good, good. Keep me informed."

From the stealth ships the Foot Cavalry was been dropped in the tropical waters of Indonesia. Their task was to take out as many small islands as possible to create a solid naval staging area for Stevid and German operations. The news of the revolution on the mainland hasn't reached these far-away seas, so operation Carpe Diem was going along just fine. And even if the news would leak into these parts of the world the navy had strict orders to continue their mission without interruptions. From the Firestorm class Arsenal ships and the Zumwalt class destroyers missiles were fired at governmental centers in Jakarta. Regular missiles without a chemical or biological charge.

On the numerous small islands the local population didn't really what to do against these invaders. Some fought, others surrendered. Seventy four men of the Foot Cavalry died. Hardly an issue but rather annoying instead because these men are good fighters always fighting on the front line. Precision bombardments were carried out the Luftwaffe on naval bases and airfields of the Indonesian army. The rain soaked jungles left little room for major tank battles - those were deployed on the shoreline to prevent extremists entering captured islands.

Everything was going according to the joint plans of Stevid and the German Empire, nothing was left to coincidence.

Indonesian Island of Flores

Beach One Section A

A soft humming noise could be heard from the smoking beach of South Flores. Trees were burning and wooden huts were ablaze as well; craters both shallow and deep could be been scattered along the beach and bodies of more fifteen were scattered along the beach as well.

The humming noise was getting louder and louder every second and if one were to look out to sea from the coastline of Flores one would see a ship. A black ship silhouetted by the setting sun. It was a Stevid Assault Carrier with its aft doors open. Out of the ship came assault craft, royal marine hovercraft and attack helicopters taking off from the deck of the ship.

The humming noise became so loud you could see what was making it. Five hovercrafts full of royal marines and engineers spilled out of the hovercraft and started to slowly advance forward on the beach. The helicopters now arrived with abseiling ropes hanging out of them. Men started to jump out of the small transport choppers and landing troops on the beach.

The local militia was slow to react. Eight troops appeared in front of a group of marines and opened fire. Two marines were cut down by AK fire and one more took a bullet in the shoulder, those marines left standing opened fire with a hail of machine gun fire wiping out the Indonesian solders. Similar encounters to these were along the entire entire coastline and on the other islands that had been invaded.

The marine forces started to sweep through the denser parts of the jungle and light equipment like APCs and jeeps moved along slowly down major roads with close troop and air support. The first foothold had been gained in Indonesia and the first wave was not yet over for the little islands.

The Commander of the beachhead still didn’t know how the invasion of Timor was progressing.

To be continued…

Warzone Jakarta

From the Ticondergo class cruisers and various other vessels a major volley of missiles were fired at the Indonesian capital, forcing them so surrender to Imperial German and Stevid rule. And when they will, all offensive actions will be called off and instead our combined forces will be put to the task of ridding the isles of terrorists and their supporters. Roughly 64% of the medium and small sized islands are under allied control, but the major isles still are quite... problematic. Rebel forces, guerrilla and such make life difficult of our marines. When marines landed in the harbor of Jakarta Indonesian rained bullets down upon the brave German soldiers, who stood strong against the hordes of barbarians. After hours of intense fighting between the Indonesians the German soldiers were able to raise the Imperial flag above the Indonesian parliament, though, ninethousand allied soldiers of Imperial Germany had died in this single attack.

Forward Command Post. Sula Westi, Indonesia

"General! It's over at front! Infact, troops all over the place are begining to thrown down their weapns. Imperial and Empire flags are being flown from the parliment building in the mainland! The war is officialy over against the opposition's army!" said Lt Cmdr. Peter Johnson to the General.

"Over?" he said
"Aye sir."
"Well, good to see Stevids Empire may be on the way back. Half of Indonesia eh? Looks and sounds good. Right, start scoping the jungles for freedom fighters and guerillas. Terrorism is our enemy now. It looks like it's gonna be a good year for Stevid! Of course, we will mourn the dead when we get back to normal routines. How many dea?"
"Thousands sir. Fighting in the capital was bloody. Many dead total death toll at the moment is unknown."

Jakarta

Glory to the soldiers of Stevid and Imperial Germany! The main Indonesian islands have been conquered in the name of freedom. No more tyrrany by a rich minority but a democratic government. Captain Dafydd was proud to raise the Imperial German colonial flag above the city of Jakarta, which he renaimed to Batavia. Because Stevid has been so helpful in our assault, they will gain the the island of Timor as a whole, and the lifetime guarantee of a free and safe passage through Indonesian waters. Stevid may secure the rest of the Indonesian archipelago while Imperial Germany looks at Singapore and the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Neither one of them will be a problem. With the most important parts of Indonesia secured and under allied control, the remaining tasks of Carpe Diem must be completed before the mission can be classed as a total success.

Stevid transport planes began flying over the smaller islands from Timor, Dropping men from the bays in the back and landing in the small villages, killing anyone who got in their way.
Many of the small and medium sized islands were over run with light to medium casualties.

Things were begining to get better for the population of a semi war torn Timor as well. Indonesia was as good as taken. Few were now opposing the Stevid Occupation of some of the smaller islands. Everything as going as planned.

Annexation of the Andaman and Nicobar islands

By order of the Imperial German Empire, I shall hereby set foot on soil of the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Deserted by your former lords, neglected by the world. We will bring you prosperity and law. Under our command your islands will become part of Imperial Germany, the United Reich of Guffingford. Fear not, we will never oppress you or exploit your islands. However if you refuse...

Flagship Aldebaran

"Sir, I have received an urgent message from SC in Amsrerdam, it seems our homelands are in the grasp of a revolution. Belem has offered their assistance to quell the uprising."
"What the fuck...?" Fleet Commander Blouff was speechless. A revolution in Guffingford? How on earth. The annexation of the Andaman and Nicobar islands is accepted by the population, how how long will their peaceful mood last?
"Commander Blouff, we cannot call this mission off. Singapore must be attacked before we can send forty percent of our fleet and men back home."
"Goddamnit. Is the situation in Holy Panooly acceptable?"
"Not for long, it seems Baron Templeton has decided to fight off our men there and take control of the oilfields."
"Never allow that to happen. If they get those fields then a most important artery of ours is bleeding."
"Can't we get Stevid to sort that out? They seem to be rather friendly with the Panoolians."
"Out of the question." The firm answer of Blouff did not surprise Captain Lorgan Vimes. He knew Blouff, and he knew Blouff's stance on national-socialism.
"Capt. Vimes, order to start the assault on Singapore."
"Aye Sir."

Stevid Military Command, Stevid

"You've got the go ahead with Guffingford. We will assist the invasion of Singapore will be conducted as well. Our military support won't consist of ground forces. We were running short of troops for this operation in the first place. However, naval support units and fighter and bomber control will help destroy beachhead resistance and town's and citiy's resistance."

Said by General Ross at a military talk to the Guffingfordii military general of their armed forces (Video phone)

“Ahhh Mathews there you are old chap, what’s blasting over the wireless today then ehh?”

“It depends General, whether it’s the classified wireless or just the civilian one?”

“Dear God man, the classified one of course, now hop to it, there's a good fellow.”

“Well general, we have a few things coming from Europe, just the primary troop massing for the invasion of Norway, but it’s the Pacific that most of relevant intelligence is coming from. We have news that Guffingford and the Empire of Stevid have begun operation Carpe Diem.”

“They’re a little early aren’t they?”

“Yes General, our carrier groups have yet to form up on Singapore, or even get past the Philippines”

“Damn it man, very well, I suppose we should send a telegram to their government, or what’s left of it. Amazing really, that armed forces can continue their jobs while the nation at home erupts into anarchy, is it madness or discipline?

Regarding Operation Carpe Diem

His Majesties Intelligence service has noticed that operation Carpe Diem has begun early without prior notification to the advanced carrier groups and strike forces. His Majesty would like confirmation that part two of Carpe Diem is still operational, if so His Majesties forces will assume position in the Indian sea.
