Credonia Calls Upon the OMP for Talks [closed rp]

OOC: This RP is closed to ALL nations except nations that are part of the OMP
IC:
Official Statement from Credonian Secretary of State Lauren R. Smith
I have been in talks with government leaders from the nation of Praetonia over the issue of Credonia's (non-aggressive) stance towards the nation of The Freethinkers. In talking, it was becoming apparent that a situation is brewing that Credonia would like to avoid at all costs. Because of this, Credonia would like to invite representative from each member nation of the OMP to the Credonian Presidential Palace in Credonia City to discuss relations and to resolve a conflict that we at one point in time thought was over and done with regarding The Freethinkers. We await your response.
Stevid has been in the OMP from the very begining (although not a founding member) and will attend.
The Admiral of of ever naval force belonging to Stevid, Admiral Sir Alan West, will be the representative to Credonia. This will also, hopefuly, work towards trust between the two nations.
Signed
David M. Conroy: Leader of Stevid
Admiral Sir Alan West: First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy of Stevid

Sarzonia's Vice President for Naval Operations Kathy Bunhall and Portland Iron Works Deputy Managing Director Commodore Jamie Wilson (ISN-Ret.) will attend the talks.
EDIT: I'm in OMP.
As a member of the OMP, Artitsa will be sending Admiral Georgi Kamov (Head of Navy) and Admiral Mikhail Putamov (Submerged Navy) to Credonia for these talks.
Though we do question the actual need for such talks ourselves, as such dispute could be dealt with bilaterially between Credonia and the Freethinkers, we are nevertheless interested in such diplomatic meeting as a member of the Organization of Maritime Powers, with the intent to further investigate both the conflicts between Credonia and the Freethinkers, in addition to the actual purposes of such talks between Credonia and the entire body of the OMP.
Thus, it is expected that a delegation, headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs J. Kolen, and Rear Admiral K. Jorges, the head of the Omzian Representive Office for OMP Affairs, would be sent to the talks.

As one of the Organization of Maritime Powers' founding members, we feel we have no choice but to send a delegation to this meeting. However, we note that the ball is in Credonia's court as far as relations with the nations of the OMP go.

Credonia thanks the members of the OMP who have responded thus far to our call for a conference. The objective of this conference is to mend any and all broken relations that we may have, with the central theme being Credonian-The Freethinker relations. Im sure some of your leaders are questioning the need to speak with all of the members of the OMP on an issue that should be between Credonia and the Freethinkers, however, we have recieved a limited amount of inside information that the problem is a bit deeper than that and would require further diplomacy, which is what we are attempting to initiate with this conference. Further information regarding when the conference will be held will be posted very soon. We are still awaiting a response from the Freethinkers. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to telegram us.

OOC: Credonia, this is what has happened:
1) "Someone", I shall not name names, proposed a ban on vessels sales to you. This is through an organisation made up of OMP members, but not the OMP per se.
2) As the proposal was gaining support, I told you OOCly through an IM that you may not therefore be receiving the ships you ordered, as it would caused diplomatic problems for my nation.
3) You go off in a huff and start all of this.
As far as Im aware, Freethinker hasn't mentioned this at all, nor is it OMP policy to have anything against you, although obviously by meaning of this proposal being proposed, some elements of it may not.

12-03-2005, 22:14
[And with that I think I'll add my own prospective on this.
1) I remember talking to The Freethinkers after this incident and this is the impression I got from him. You came to him in an OOC manner asking for him to design a ship for you and when he didn't do it in the time you wanted it done you made an IC stink about it.
2) First of all, there was no contract, that isn't Freethinkers works. Second of all, the second you imposed a time limit on him erased any possibility of him considering even doing your ship. He is an artist and works on his own time and only if/when inspiration strikes.
3) When you started this trade embargo against Freethinkers, you basically levelled an insult against the heart and soul of the OMP and in the words of a prominent shipbuilder in the OMP, you insulted shipbuilders everywhere.
4) Perhaps you weren't aware, but several nations levelled trade embargoes against you back when that happened. This wouldn't have been an issue if you hadn't been so absolutely silly as to remind me of my own trade embargo against you. When that happened, I had no choice but to bring your comments before the Council to decide what actions would be necessary.
So in short, you brought this on yourself not once, but twice.]

OOC: that probably was the case back then..personally, i had forgotten about all that and put it behind me but just decided that i wasnt going to purchase anything from Freethinkers anyway...but even so...i never did put a time limit on it, in fact i had forgotten about it for a couple months till i brought it back up, and as far as i remember, it was a contract, one that was worked through Doujin..but it doesnt matter...im trying to mend relations. Its time to move on, and thats what the purpose of this conference is, regardless of what happened.

[Ah, see now you never mentioned that. Freethinkers has never answered to Doujin and any contracts Doujin worked out on his behalf were never valid.]

Official Statement of the Freethinker Government
As far as the Government of The Freethinkers is aware, no conflict, nor principle of malice of disrespect has been sanctioned or authorised by this Government. The 'conflict' of which Credonia speaks is long since dead and has been for a long time, and as such we are most intrigued by Credonian claims that such a relationship still exists between our two nations.
Nonetheless, in order to aid our own confusion in the matter, we will be sending our own representatives to the meeting. You may view this as a confirmation of our attendance at these talks.

[Um, HI, what the fuck? First of all, it says this is a closed RP and since you are neither Credonia nor a member of the OMP, you aren't invited. Second, might I suggest that in the future you try to put some clear dialogue and convincing backstory into your posts? Because what you have there makes absolutely no sense to anybody but you.]
OOC: Well, although the involvment of a special forces team might be interesting, it would still be up to Credonia to decide whether such is allowed in this RP, considering that the team is deployed in Credonia after all. But depending on the nature of the attack, the deaths of a high-ranking Omzian diplomat (whom is also in the cabinet of the President) and a high-ranking military officer as a result of an attack by foreign commandoes will result in anywhere from a strong diplomatic protest to serious repercussions from the Omzian forces.

President Sutton sat at a table in the Presidential Palace dining room sipping a hot cup of French Vanilla Capaccino whilst reading the Credonia Times, the nations largest newpaper.
"Sutton's job approval rating up to 95%, infalation rates at an all time low, hmm, I havent done too bad if I say so myself." Mumbled Kaimoni as he read the headlined in the paper to himself.
After finishing the paper and taking a short stretch in his seat, he rose and approached his assistant's desk.
"Melanie, could you contact the OMP and let them know that the conference will be held on Sunday March 13 at 1:00 pm please?" Kaimoni asks politely.
"Right away Mr. President." replies Melani Mitchellson, the President's private assistant.

OFFICIAL COMMUNICADE
OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
NAVAL OPERATIONS
Due to the concerns expressed to me by Commodore Jamie Wilson (ISN-Ret.), the deputy managing director of the Portland Iron Works, and my own concerns regarding security, I must request that I be allowed to bring my own security detail of two members of the Sarzonian Secret Service. Since my country is still in a state of war, I must insist that our aircraft be accompanied by Sarzonian military aircraft until Sarzonia Five lands at Sutton Air Force Base.
If you have concerns regarding our specific request, please contact my office.
Kathy Bunhall
Vice President for Naval Operations
Incorporated States of Sarzonia
Omzian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Representive Office of OMP Affairs, Omzian Navy
As we are more than glad to discuss matters regarding Credonia-OMP relations in general, our two representives and their staff will make various preparations for the upcoming talks in Credonia. Although we bear much enthusiasm for the meeting as we understand the requirements set by Credonia security forces, we wish to propose a possible deployment of Omzian security forces with the intent to protect the Omzian diplomatic personnel in Credonia.
During the process of preparing the Omzian personnel for transit into Credonia, our intelligence services has expressed various concerns regarding the possible threat posed by possible armed personnel of non-participating nations, whom has a possible intent of disrupting the meeting. Thus, it is expected that with Credonia approval, a small team of security personnel from an unspecified security unit of the Omzian military and paramilitary forces will accompany both the Foreign Minister and the Rear Admiral with the intent of providing security.
Eagerly awaiting replies,

Honorable Kathy Bunhall,
Credonia understands the concerns over security that your nation may have, especially in times of war. Top Credonian leaders, myself included, have had their fair share of concerns when traveling to other nations in war-times. Sarzonia Five may enter Credonian airspace with fighter escorts. Please be aware that Credonian F/A-18 Super Hornets will be in the air to provide additional air security but will maintain their distance from your aircraft and its escorts.
In addition to this, due to the level of Security that will already be in place by our people, we ask that your agents only carry one hand gun each. We assure you that Credonia City is one of the safest cities, if not the safest city on the face of the planet.

In the hope of averting a possible diplomatic incident and heading off any possible future points of conflict between Credonian and the Organization of Maritime Powers, this Government will send a representative to these talks. To whom it may concern,
Credonia can gove you its utmost assurances that everything that can be done to prevent any harm from coming to the representatives that will be attending this conference is being done. For safety purposes, the highway leading directly from Sutton Air Force Base to Credonia City has been closed down and military personnel are stationed along the highway in 5 mile increments with overhead UAV, attack helicopter, and fighter patrols circling the area above. A 20 mile no-fly zone still exists around the capital city. All patroling air forces have been authorized to shoot down any and all planes that come into the restricted air space on-site. Credonian military personnel on the ground are instructed to shoot any person or persons who attempt to come within 1,000 ft. of the highway.
Exactly how many men will be on this team and what type of weaponry are you planning on them bringing? Depending on that information, we may or may not allow the team due to the already air tight security measures we have in place already.

Official Pacitalian Government Statement
We applaud the government of Credonia for moving to establish peaceful, bilateral talks with the OMP upon the subject of resolving matters with the nation of Freethinkers. Although we were unaware up to this point of any such diplomatic disagreements occurring between the two nations in question, we do now sufficiently comprehend the issues at hand.
Pacitalia would be more than content to put in a delegate to represent ourselves - we will be sending our Deputy Supreme Naval Commander, Luigi Mancantimo and two secretaries to the conference in Credonia.
Again, thank you for making such a clear-headed and mature decision on the matter. We applaud you sincerely.

As we are glad and is impressed that Credonia is willing to take such extravagant measures to ensure the safety of Omzian personnel, we place our trust on the security forces of Credonia to ensure the security of our OMP-Credonia conference. It is expected that a total of two medium passenger aircraft will be sent, carrying the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the naval OMP Representive, their staff, and the security personnel.
In regards to the nature of security personnel, although we cannot disclose all matters regarding the matter, we have placed enough trust on the authorities at Credonia to provide the information needed. It is expected that a total of between four to six men from the Omzian Naval Marine Corps Diplomatic Protection Units will be sent, all carrying automatic carbines. However, due to the ROE and the nature of the meeting, they will be forbidden from firing in automatic modes, and will have a magazine capacity of up to 20 rounds.

"Again, would someone tell me why the HELL I'm going to Credonia?"
Wilson paced Sarzonia Five, gesturing with agitated movements. He never liked wearing suits and he was glad that his boss, former Sarzonian Navy Commodore Barbara Tucker let him wear a dress shirt without a tie and casual slacks when he went to work at the Portland Iron Works following the acquisition of his old company, the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation. The only "suit" he ever tolerated was his full dress naval uniform.
"Jamie, you know why you're going on this trip. Barbie hates to fly and I wanted someone from the Portland Iron Works along since the issues at this conference most directly affect you," Bunhall said. "The ISG* sees this as jointly a government issue and a commercial issue."
"Then why the hell isn't Janis with you instead of me?" Janis Hedge was the Vice President for Business and Commerce and was often the point woman regarding any commercial negotiations.
"We're not employees of the Portland Iron Works, Jamie. You are. Portland has a tremendous voice in what goes on around Sarzonia and this trip has been seen as an opportunity for us to clear the air with Credonia. You do know why we're clearing the air with them, don't you?"
"Yes, I've read the reports. We never had a formal policy on them though."
"But Barbie told me specifically that she would have had a problem selling to Credonia because of the incident with FDI."
"I'm well aware of that Kath," Wilson said. As soon as he said that, he realised it came out more harshly than intended. "I mean, I've seen the report and Barbie and I talked about it at length when it was happening so I know what the story is. I just don't like being on these diplomatic missions."
"I know, Jamie," Bunhall said. "But if what I hear is right, you may be on a few more of these before it's all over."
"What do you mean?"
"What do you think I mean? I've heard the rumours just like everyone else."
Wilson raised his eyebrow. The proposal for the Portland Iron Works buying out Avalon Aerospace Corporation, Incorporated Ordnance Company and Saugerties Space Works and becoming a defence conglomerate was intended to be a well-kept secret, but any time the Portland Iron Works did anything in Sarzonia, it was well-documented. The plan was to acquire the companies under the umbrella of the Portland Iron Works, keep the managing directors of each company in place and making Wilson the managing director of the naval storefront, which would be renamed the Portland Naval Works.
As the man responsible for the day-to-day operations of PIW, Wilson knew every employee who worked at headquarters in Portland and in the Woodstock call centre. He figured Louella Soames was opening her big mouth again.
"Anyway, we're approaching Credonian air space. We need to get ready."
"Righto, Kath."
"Attention, Sutton Air Force Base, this is Sarzonia Five, request permission to land, over."
Everyone on Sarzonia Five waited for the responce and the chance to get this conference started.

The Freethinkers
16-03-2005, 02:18
Johan Foster International Airport, Navarre, The Freethinkers
The Johan Fostar Airport was your typical international hub, albeit with a healthy dose of Freethinker architectural extravagance thrown in to ensure it remained in the visitor’s memory more than most such places would. The terminals were the usual fair of long concourses of pavilions, fast food joints, toilets and banks and banks of seating, full of young, happy looking trippers, crying babies in the arms of haggard looking mothers, and playful kids running around, occasionally looking stopping to look outside at the exotic mixture of air and aerospace craft sitting on the tarmac outside.
Retired Air Marshall Charles Lenington, currently serving as a diplomatic officer, was the head of a small delegation of three people, including his good self. He was accompanied by two underlings, Ryan James and Craig Antoskew, both fresh graduates and aides eager to impress the much older Lenington in the hunt for quick promotion out of the bureaucracy that was the lower levels of the diplomatic service. Pulling and carrying various bits of light luggage, they made their way to the gate for the next Freestian Air flight to Credonia’s capital.
Why Credonia and Sutton were calling the conference was completely unfathomable by the diplomatic service, and as such instead of dispatching a private jet and the accompanying fanfare, the lowly Lenington was being shuttled on a commercial flight in a display of the low priority placed to the event. With the nightmare that was Haven proving problematic at every term, daft little sideshows to satisfy accusatory nations was at best awkward and at worst downright annoying. The briefing had been one of the shortest ever given, and of course the lack of information basically meant that Lenington’s main mission was to find what actually was the problem the Credonians wanted to discuss.
Passing a warm bottle of water to his boss, Antoskew muttered, “You know, you don’t think this has anything to still do with that incident, all those years ago? I mean, that’s all in the past right, for sure?” Lenington glanced at his aide, eyebrow raised. Then he took a swig from the proffered bottle and began.
“Yeah, I remember it well. FDI go a contract through DoujinCorp for a big ship, anyway, the project went on for ages, mostly stalled, eventually they changed their minds, wanted their money back, and there was some bitchfest between the three of us, though it was them and the DoujCorp that actually handled the contract, anyway, they got real angry, shut down the embassies, got talking empty of military sanctions, then it all died and we have basically ignored each other since. As far as I am concerned, and indeed, our whole department views the situation as done, I don’t know what the hell has happened now.”
Antoskew nodded, receiving the water bottle back and replacing it in his bag. “But the briefing wasn’t clear though, there’s nothing we can find that the Credonians are alluding to?” Lenington nodded thoughtfully.
“Yeah, went through all the department’s records, nothing, checked with the Mod, nothing there either.”
“Hell, we even got onto the Commerce and Intelligence Ministries too”, chimed in James, “Nothing at all.” Lenington drew breathe sharply, causing James to remember his interruption. The retired Marshall began again.
“Yeah, basically, nothing at all. It’s like the Credonians just want us all, the OMP, to show up for some reason, though for what I cannot even begin to guess as to why. The talks were announced, to sort out differences we apparently still hold. Which doesn’t make any sense at all, seeing as we personally settled the matter long ago. Of course, the trigger seems to have been trouble obtaining naval contracts with naval shipyards in member states of the OMP, so perhaps that is the reason for seeing some of them, but to claim our relations are in tatters is somehow, I don’t know, deceitful?”
The two aides nodded in agreement, though James spoke first again.
“The new contracts seem to be the trigger that was the only concrete thing Intel could say. But we don’t have the capacity to affect such decisions, nor the desire to in any case, especially to such an entity like Credonia, hell, if anything, we would want to do stuff to improve relations, but to be honest I can see why Dep Head wants to steer clear of this mess.”
“Perhaps,” muttered Lenington, his fingers tapping the armrest as he arched his back in a quick stretch on the uncomfortable seat, “we shall see soon enough. I think they are about to announce the flight…”
OOC: Anyway, the next post I will make will be at the conference, then Ill finally be able to find out why I am apparently continuing to hold bad relations.
EDIT: Text changes only.
Osaria International Airport, Osaria
Though smaller than its counterparts nearby, the Osaria International Airport is one of the centers of Omzian intercontinental travel, assortments of aircraft taking off its large concrete pathways, as crowds of people - Omzian and foreign alike - swarmed to and from the massive network of terminals. Though the closing of the two terminals affected the traffic drastically, the diplomatic, military staff and their protection units still found their garments and body swarmed and strafed by the passage of ordinary civilians, tourists, and businessmen swimming out through the massive escalators and transparant elevators.
Rear Admiral Kevin Jorges struggled to secure his firm grip on the metallic handle, as he lugged around the briefcase that he cared for so much for the past 20 years. The son of a nuclear engineer, he served on a ballistic missile submarine as an enlisted sailor, and eventually was transferred to an attack submarine upon his graduation from the Naval Academy. There, as one of the lieutenants responsible for the onboard systems, he saw combat in both the Battles of Hagras and Honjaksgrad, before rapidly rising through the ranks, and eventually as an Rear Admiral. In the meanwhile however, as the structure of thin metallic walls of his breifcase was displaced into an open position for a "hands-on" security search, he looked at his wristwatch, apparantly unaware of the exact time. Beside him, were only the other neatfully dressed diplomatic and military figures, aside from the masses of fresh air that filled the room and sat on the rows of empty seats not far.
"I thought that I was supposed to get a break from all the organization and regional affairs," the Rear Admiral said with a slight yet wry laugh as he let out a small volume of breathed air, the strong diaphragm of his pushing his lungs up, as well as making an impression on the "Order of Ukan" metal star that hung somewhat loosely from his shirt. "And somehow the people in Credonia suddenly wants some talk with us."
Lieutenant Commander Stanley Minsen looked up, aware of the Admiral's thoughts, as he gave a signal for his superior to pick up his suitcase, as one of the members of his staff. "Apparantly it's something about the matters between the Freethinkers and Credonia, but it also looks like that they see this as some kind of opportunity for a talk with the whole of OMP. Anyways, I can now barely remember the time when the people over at Credonia got so angry with the Freethinkers," he talked somewhat loosely
The Admiral struggled to recite the incident from his memory, as he tightened his lips in his usual thinking style. "The thing I can remember all the day back was when we were pretty concerned with the massive nuclear buildups and their broad poliferation of ballistic missiles. Usually I don't keep track of navies and contractors around the world."
The Commander showed a sense of agreement, reciting fresh memories in the great tornado of his brain. "Maybe this could be a good moment to at least build up some relations with them. As you may know, sir, I'm usually less enthusiastic about dealing with something that should be sought after bilaterally, but a trip there wouldn't hurt."
The Admiral gave a nod. "After all, this does involve the whole organization. Since the deputy minister and the fleetheads' suddenly decided to install me into this position, it's becoming a requirement anyways. And to tell you the truth, I think that this talk is going to go pretty well." With a small expression of concentration, he once again asked, "how long's the flight anyways?"
"Some hours ahead, along with a fill-up from a tanker," the Commander replied. "This isn't a region-wide flight anyways, so they've decided to fit all of us into one of the slower jets. At least there's some more space for my feet and the food. It's a long time since I rode on an intercontinental flight, especially from this airport. I have never seen so many people in all these months."
"Isn't the airport supposed to be closed for this anyways?", the Admiral asked with a slight raise of his eyebrows.
"Apparantly not, especially considering that the heads of the authorities aren't willing to give up the profits, nor to once again receive so much complaints like the last time. There's still a reason why they placed all of us in a civilian airport anyways."

"Jamie, please! At least let President Sutton get a chance to say what's on his mind before you start in on him."
"That's a whole 'nother issue," Wilson said. "Seems like this could all just be one small misunderstanding, so exactly why are we all here again?"
"For the millionth time Jamie, shut up! I'm getting really tired of your drama. You'll have your chance when the conference begins. Now keep your voice down or you'll cause a scene. Save that scene for the conference if you're so inclined."
OOC: Well, I was thinking to not RP the actual flight and the landing, but some free time still allowed me to do so. /OOC
As he continued to apply a considerable amount of pressure on the luxurious, heated seats of the considerably upgraded business airplane, a tired Rear Admiral Jorges struggled to keep himself awake during their transition between the despised differences of the time zones. Though like every other military officer, he trained himself for such situation, nothing - not even the most spacious of the planes or the most relaxing of the seats - could allow him to avoid the fatigues and exhaustion caused by such transit. "I'm assuming it will be almost over?", the Rear Admiral asked as he showed a slight sign of exhaustion, without embarassment.
"Apparantly so," Lieutenant Commander Minsen replied with a heavy intake of air, his eyes peacefully resting behind the pieces of his glasses, feeling the apparant jolts as the airplane entered a state of descent, it's landing systems fully utilized. "It still seems a bit inconvenient that there's a lack of the actual schedules for the day, but I think I can make it. The nap seems to be somewhat working for me."
"Indeed, but not much for me," the Admiral sighed as he raised his seat, as a flat, ominous pitch of sound alerted the passengers onboard to secure their safety systems on. As vegetation of various types emerged into their sight at close ranges, the pitch-black coloured tires would finally initate their contact with the firm concrete grounds of the Credonian runway. With the deceleration of the aircraft becoming apparant, it seemed that the final destination is finally reached, after the long trek through the thin air over the curvature of the boundless world...

A trim, three-piece suit snugging his bodily contours, the Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Tarek Naseer, reluctantly strode over the tarmac of Sharif V.I.P airport, towards the ll-18 cargo aircraft, better known under its NATO codename, Coot. Its coat of varnish was blistering, with brown-red corrosion streaks dotting the underwing turboprop engine pods.
The bird was nearly four decades old, but serious airframe overhauls had extended his service life with several years to come. The problem was that all low-priority diplomatic airtrips had a diverse pool of ageing aircraft assigned as transports, as new-built VC-301s were dedicated to the hauling of none but the highest of government officials.
As he leapt into the empty cabin, Tarek sunk down into the first seat within reach and positioned himself as comfortable as he could, laying down and swinging his feet over the armrests of the adjacent seat. A flight of nearly a dozen hours was ahead and Tarek, a seasoned top dog, had learned over the years to fall asleep on command, so he drifted away, as the aircraft lurched into the serene morning sky.

Credonian Presidential Palace, Credonia City, Credonia
President Sutton and Secretary of State Lauren Smith walked the long Palace cooridor discussing Current relations with each of the OMP member states. As they walked the halls fo the Palace, they stopped in the Conference room where the representatives of the OMP would be assembling upon their arrival to Credonia. The historic conference room looked more like an art exhibit with displays of Credonian art placed in crystal glass cases, each art piece telling a unique story about the history of Credonia and its people. The displayed one large painting of a scene taking place in colonial times. Rows of Credonian soldiers were lined up, muskets pointed, cannons armed and ready and across from them stood the enemy, heavily outnumbering the Credonian colonial troops. The painting showed a scene from one of the greatest battles fought by Credonia in colonial times.
President Sutton continued walking around the room and looked up at the ceiling. It had been renovated and now the ceiling was nothing but a large mirror which made the room brighter and gave it a friendlier tone.
After inspecting the room with Ms. Smith, they walked out and returned to the President's Office.

After Bunhall finally prevailed upon Wilson to sit down, he reluctantly did so, but she could tell the former naval officer was impatient to do something. The look in the aging man's eyes told her he wanted to kill someone, anyone. Even if he had to beg for his commission back and command a fleet.
However, Wilson wasn't still for long. His Blackberry vibrated and he looked at the text message.
Presidential message (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=404120) to Credonia, the text read. Wilson pushed the MORE button to scroll through the text of the message. He called Rear Admiral Barbara Tucker, his boss at the Portland Iron Works.
"Hi Jamie."
"Hey Barbie, did you hear about the message?"
"I was just going to call you. I think Sarzo wants you to change into your naval uniform if you have it with you."
Wilson's right eyebrow inched up. He had his naval uniform with him in the event he had to take part in a military review, but it was only for ceremonial purposes. He wasn't even sure if it fit, but he quickly agreed.
"Excuse me, Kath."
"Where are you going?"
"To get changed."
"What the hell? We'll be late for the conference."
"Read this." Wilson handed his Blackberry to Bunhall and walked briskly to the elevator. Within minutes, he walked back to notice Bunhall staring at the Blackberry."
"What in sweet Jesus's name," Bunhall asked when she looked up and saw Wilson in his dress naval uniform.
"Did you read the report?"
"Yeah, but I didn't think you packed a naval uniform."
"You'd be surprised. When's the limo going to get here?"
Just then, the limo pulled up. Both Wilson and Bunhall looked at each other.

President Sutton sat at his office when suddenly his secretary entered the room, walking hastily towards his desk
"Sir, a message from Secretary Smith has just arrived. It states that nations of the OMP are instituting an embargo against Credonia. Why they would do this when we are hours away from holding a conference to settle differences is unknown"
"The hell is going on? Why the hell would they do that? Hmm, ok. If thats the way they want it to be then there will be no conference. Notify all OMP member nation representatives to inform them that the planned conference is OFF and that Credonia will reciprocate their action's against the nations that have gone on and imposed embargo's against us. See no reason why they would in the first place when we are trying to make moves and consessions for peace and better relations. Get on this right away"
"Very well sir"
With that, the secretary left the room to send a message to the OMP member-states.
UNITED STATES OF CREDONIA
From: President Kaimoni A. Sutton
To: OMP Member-states, C/O: The appropirate representative of each member nation
Subject: Planned Conference
Credonia is disappointed in the fact that a number of OMP member nations have imposed trade embargo's against us especially when we are making very generous moves to improve and/or repair relations with nations of this alliance. We are saddened by the fact that such nations refuse to take the opportunity to develop peaceful, or more peaceful relations with our nation as was the stated purpose of the planned conference. However, due to these actions, we have no choice but to cancel the conference and take reciprocated actions against all OMP member-states that have imposed a trade embargo against us. The reason for this conference was to ensure that such a thing would not happen and to prevent them from happening, however, we see that nations within the OMP are not dedicated to peace like they claim to be, so we have no choice but to take this course of action.

When Bunhall and Wilson sat in the limousine, they got a message on Wilson's Blackberry that the conference was off and that Sarzo ordered them recalled back to Sarzonia to begin with. Within a matter of minutes, two porters came to the limousines with their suitcases packed.
"Guess we won't even get a chance to have dinner," Bunhall cracked. Wilson stared grimly ahead as the porters set the suitcases into the trunk of the limo and shut the trunk door. Within a matter of moments, Bunhall and Wilson were on their way, not to the conference that was not to be, but toward Sarzonia Five, where their journey would begin back home.
When the two ascended the steps into Sarzonia Five and the jet prepared to take off, Wilson muttered a final, "Thank God," then the pilot radioed for permission to take off, under the fighter escort that accompanied them to Credonia to begin with.
***************************
In Woodstock, Sarzo listened to find out that Sarzonia Five had taken off and was now jetting out of Credonian airspace and Credonian citizens, embassy personnel, and consular staff were vacating the country in droves. He also found out that Sarzonian citizens were leaving Credonia.
"I have half a mind to announce a declaration of hostility," Sarzo said. "However, I don't know if Parliament would go for that."
Just then, Intelligence Chief Jamie Stone knocked on the door.
"Come in."
"Hey, Mike."
"Oh hi Jame. What do you have?"
"Credonia's President Kaimoni Sutton has just announced an embargo against us."
"And this is news, why?"
"I don't know. I just thought you'd like to know."
"It's all a chess match, Jamie. We've already embargoed Credonia in responce to their demands against Praetonia. We'll just make up the difference elsewhere. But thank you for the notice, Jame."
"You're welcome Mike."
Sarzo swiveled in his chair and stared at the painting of Rhiannon that adorned the wall across from his desk. He wished the three birds could take away his mental pain like they took the pain of warriors in the ancient story.

The Imperium can't help but laugh at this childish retaliatory measure Credonia has taken. If the government of Credonia had stopped to think for a moment instead of reacting out of self-righteous indignation, it would have realized that since no business in any country that has placed an embargo against Credonia may do business with its government or private corporations, all of the work had already been done for Credonia.
And, while we continue to chuckle at the entertainment that the government of Credonia has graciously provided us, we feel we must inform them that henceforth a complete embargo and blacklisting against the government of Credonia and any of its businesses is in effect. However, we won't go so far as to null our diplomatic relations with Credonia, it would not do to make it impossible for the nation that started all this to ask for forgiveness.
Ryuichi Torita bristled with rage as he read a transcript of the Credonian government broadcast. He slammed his fist on his desk and leaped to his feet. He shouted at no one in particular,
"Dammit!"
The 88-year-old man groaned and sat back down heavily, clutching at his belly. He couldn't get that upset again, it might kill him in his old age. Being Lord Protector of Tokarev was a stressful job. So much work to do, so little time, he mused. With a sigh, he gestured at his bodyguard,
"Colonel, fetch the Court Chamberlain. Tell him to arrange a meeting of the Imperial General Headquarters."
With a blank expression, the large colonel saluted and turned on his heel. Torita turned back to the government broadcast. This would be the first meeting of the Imperial General Headquarters since before the restoration of the Chrysanthemum Throne, over thirty years ago. Is it not ironic, Torita thought to himself, that me, the man who once overthrew the Throne, is now calling for the Imperial General Headquarters ...
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A few hours later, the Imperial General Headquarters assembled in the great conference room of the Imperial Palace. At the center sat TOKAHITO himself, His Grand Imperial Majesty, the 150th Emperor of Tokarev, the Second of the Restored Monarchy. His black hair mustachios had been carefully groomed to give him a heroic countenance. He was resplendent in the laurels of a General of the Main Land, Admiral of the Ocean Sea, and Marshal of the Open Space. Here he shed his ceremonial role as the protector of the national essence of Tokarev ... here he was a Commander-in-Chief. Cold, calculating, and brutal. A dangerous man, Torita thought to himself.
The balding Torita sat on the left-hand side of the Emperor, with the right-hand side left ceremonially empty. Seated around the semi-circular room were the twenty-three Field Marshals, twenty-four Sea Marshals, and ten Air Marshals of Tokarev. These were the most well-respected military minds in Tokarev. Which, in the collective minds of the nation, made them the most well-respected military minds on Earth. Such hubris always accompanies a monarchy ... Torita thought bitterly.
Sea Marshal Marquis Tsugumichi Saigo, the Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Imperial Navy and, second to Torita and the Emperor himself, the most famous military commander in all of Tokarev, stood up, one hand nervously stroking his bushy moustache. Of all the Marshals for Life, as members of the Imperial General Headquarters were called, Saigo was the only one who had expected Torita to call for a meeting, and, besides the Emperor, was the only one dressed in his full, intimidating naval regalia.
"Gentlemen," he began in his curious Kyushu accent, using his usual flowery speech,
"Credonia has pointed a finger of blame on the Organization of Maritime Powers, and thus at the Grand Imperial Nation of Tokarev. The accusations and the cancelling of the proposed conference is a stain on this nation's honor. Credonia seeks to blacken the international reputation of the Grand Imperial Nation and its politics, and thus blackening the prestige of the Chrysanthemum Throne.
"We cannot stand for this, gentlemen. For too long, our nation has chosen the isolationist path, licking the wounds of wars past and forgotten. We cannot let this Grand Imperium fall into decay, and let such dishonorable nations such as ... Credonia," he spit the word, as if it were a curse.
"... push us around with embargos. Have we not among the strongest navies the Great Oceans have ever seen?! Has the Grand Imperial Navy not proven itself to be the manifestation of our national essence, of the will of the Chrysanthemum Throne? Has our Grand Imperial Navy not ruled over a thousand shores, trumpeting forth the call of judgement ... the Voice of the Crane?!
"Diplomacy," Saigo's face turned sour, as if he had bitten a lemon. "Where does such nonsensical bureacracy and politics get us?! It does nothing but stain our honor, our national essence. The cruel acid of diplomacy has withered away at the base of the Imperium, and only the will of the gods keeps it from crashing, sinking beneath the waves from whence it came. This is our destiny ... the gods will it ... the people will it ... the seas themself will it! Now is our time to once again rule the waves!"

So unless Credonia really does not want to RP this turn of events, I will post another post in the next couple of days dealing with mobilization, and my nation setting up a facade of wanting peace with Credonia.
OOC: Let me add that if Credonia doesn't object RPing a war with me, I am hoping to make it a fun and engaging RP experience, not a matter of actually wanting to win. To be honest, I would prefer losing the war in the end. Credonia, could you t-gram me or e-mail me at acridian@cox.net?

OOC: Scandavian States, its not a childish response. If i actually knew who EXACTLY had an embargo against me, then id be able to discern who i need to extend my policy towards. Since Sarzonia was the only nation to actually come out and say they have an embargo against me, i said, and i used pretty spefic language, any nation who places an embargo upon credonia will find credonia placing an embargo against them as well...so that means any nation that from this moment forward that states its placing an embargo against Credonia, we shall reciprocate the action......so my post makes perfect sense, i just dont know what all nations have embargo's placed against me since no one has come out and said we have one against you so it would be helpful if you did publically make that know so that you dont make urself look like an ass because of a post i made that makes perfectly good sense.

It seems to me that you aren't drawing a distinction between IC insults and OOC animosity. That's something you need to work on in my opinion.

[I don't understand why you feel the need to respond to an obviously IC post in an OOC manner. I only ask that you not do it again unless you have seriously sufficient grounds to do so, and a general objection to a statement placed by the Imperial government isn't one, IMHO.

Obviously from the latest IC posts that were made over the past 2 weeks, Credonia doesnt recognize or even uphold the embargo it had on the Freethinkers anymore. We've let bygons be bygons, yet this was all sparked by the fact that i said i didnt want to buy anything from freethinkers. This is gettin really old, really fast. Im just annoyed by this whole situation thats all. One little thing sparks all of this (yea im a bit on the impatient side but jesus) and no none of this has anything to do with my OOC feelings about the freethinkers. Sarzo chuckled slightly when he read of the Credonian counter-embargo.
"He thinks he's going to get back at us by countering our embargo," he said to no one in particular. "Little does he know."
He scribbled a few words down on the back of an envelope and walked to the press room in the Gray House.
Lightbulbs popped as if in anticipation of Sarzo's next words as he deliberately walked toward the podium. The light from television cameras from networks throughout Sarzonia seared into Sarzo's eyes.
"Okay, for starters, turn down those damn lights," Sarzo said. When the lights dimmed enough and Sarzo had gotten used to the light, he began.
"I am announcing that the Incorporated States of Sarzonia and the United States of Credonia are currently in an economic and diplomatic war of sorts. Earlier today, in response to a horribly rash and childish proclamation essentially severing a diplomatic and military alliance with the Democratic Imperium of Praetonia, Sarzonia announced a policy outlawing commerce between her and Credonia.
"As of now, Credonia has responded in kind. Any businesses that conduct business with Credonia will find itself in direct violation of government rules and regulations and will be penalised accordingly.
"We find it amusing that Credonia flatters itself that it expects the cessation of trade between our two countries to have injurious effects on Sarzonia. A recent report outlined that only four percent of all Sarzonian imports originate from Credonia. Increasing trade with our other existing partners will make up that negligible gap before very long.
"We instituted these measures with regret. However, we can not stand by and watch an irresponsible government's self-righteous insults continue to sully their relations with two of our staunch allies."
OOC: I've been on Holiday, soz i haven't posted in a while.

"I come here with loads of other OMP member states to discuss relations and then it breaks down to this. War may be on the horizon. We were for the embargo on Credonia. We may be in the firing line."
"But sir, isn't the PM in Credonia talking over peaceful relations?"
"Yes, but it is only normal relations, that means priority goes towards the alliances we are in. The OMP."
"Will you inform the PM?"
"He probably already knows."
They both got on to the plane and prepared to leave the country.

Credonian Presidential Palace, Credonia City, Credonia
"SIR!!!!! Sarzonia has declared an economic and diplomatic state of war with Credonia" shouted a Palace assistant as he bursted into ther Presidential suit where President Sutton was propped up on his bed reading one of his favorite novels.
"What? Are you serious?" Sutton asked as he moaned and grunted whilst getting out of bed.
He was already fully clothed in his suit so he headed towards the office where a number of aids and advisors including the National Security Advisor were already assembled briefly going over what was going on. Everyone stood as Sutton entered the room.
"Good afternoon everyone!"
"Good afternoon Mr. President! everyone chanted.
"Secretary Smith, give me a rundown of whats going on and why Sarzonia just, in a way, declared war on us"
"Yes Mr. President" She stood and the President took a seat at the head of the table. She began passing out portfolio's detailing basic and intelligence information abour the nation of Sarzonia, Praetonia, and the OMP alliance itself.
"Sarzonia, it seems is, a staunch ally of Praetonia. Their recent declaration of war, so to speak, has been sparked by the non-aggressive stance taken by Credonia. It is quite interesting how they respond so hastily before talks to BUILD relations even begin. If you turn to pages 3-5, you will see the history of relations between Credonia and Sarzonia. They have always been, at best, bitter sweet, but the state department never predicted a war with them since we had very little relations, though we have had quite a few run-ins with them in a number of conflicts, none of which warranted military action against them, however."
"Could you tell us about Praetonia please?" asked the President.
"Sure. Praetonia, a once very close ally has chosen to side with the OMP. During private bilateral talks, it was made known that Praetonia's only allies reside within the OMP alliance, which would explain why it chose to side with them. I think thats a foolish thing to do, but we are not here to discuss my opinion." The secretary walked back to her seat and took a sip of water before speaking again.
"Now, what sparked this conflict was a comment made to Scandinavian States when we attermpted to purchase one of their new naval vessels, which we did not know was created by The Freethinkers since they never said so up front. As you are all aware, Credonia did at one time have trade embargo's placed upon The Freethinkers, however, as time progressed, those trade embargo's became practically non-existant, even though we still to this day choose not to do business with the Freethinkers. Well, one little comment made stating that we no longer had interest in the vessel because we refuse to buy anything from Freethinkers was noticed by the OMP alliance and thta is when all hell broke loose. You all know the rest of the story." the Secretary returned to her seat.
"Thank you for the briefing Lauren. As you can all see, were in a bit of a jam here. There are three diplomatic avenues that we can take, or at least thats the way I see it. We can take the tough, military, aggressive stance and spark a major war with the OMP, a war that Credonia wishes not to spark at this time, we can attempt to press for peace and to resolve the issues, or we can just turn our backs to these nations and cut all relations and not have anything to do with them."
"Mr. President, I suggest we go with option two and three. If we are trying to avert going to war here, we need to mend some fences with Sarzonia and Praetonia, even though the only aggressor in this conflict is Sarzonia. In addition to that, we need to sever relations with certain nations within the OMP but give them an option to come to us for talks on peace. We have already attempted once and Sarzonia screwed it all up, so we should let them come to us if they want relations normalized. Also, it would be in our best interest to try to continue bi-lateral talks with Stevid since they are a supporter in a number of our upcoming endeavours. That way, we keep all of our supports in support of us, and everyone else can...kiss ass." says Chrisitan Knight, the National Security Advisor.
"Hmm, I like that idea. Lets do it guys. Make it happen!" With that, President Sutton rose and exited the room and everyone immediately dispersed to carry out the necessary steps to implimenting the next Credonian action.
Official Statement to the OMP, From President Kaimoni A. Sutton
Credonia, a peace-loving nation wishes to avert a war with any member nation of the OMP at all costs. However, due to recent developments in this conflict, Credonia is disturbed by the actions in which certain OMP member nations have taken on the eve of peace talks. We are shocked that they refused to take the opportunity to talk things out as was planned, before making such aggressive stances towards us. Because of Credonia's committment and dedication to the peace process, as President of the United States of Credonia, I declare any and all trade embargo's placed upon any member nation of the Organization of Maritime Powers at any point in time in history that are in effect today, null, void, and unexistant. In addition to this, we wish to avert a war with Sarzonia and Praetonia therefore we ask that you return to Credonia for bi-lateral talks to defuse this conflict. We also wish to continue bi-lateral talks which are already underway here in Credonia with the nation of Stevid. We hope that this conflict has in no way, shape, or form, damaged relations with your nation and we hope that we can establish closer ties as we work together in future endeavors.
To the OMP as a whole. Credonia recognizes the need to single out certain nations in which we wish to have relations with. We will be contacting those nations for bi-lateral relation-building, peace talks very soon. For those nations who are not contacted, we take a neutral stance towards any and all of your actions as we wish to have no relations with you in the future and we will not make any more concessions to do so. If you wish to have relations with Credonia, we will only consider the idea if a representative from your government contacts us first. Thank you.

His Majesty's Government (HM Government) recommends to the Credonian government and member States of the OMP to conduct their talks within a neutral nation such as the United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland rather than one involved nation or the other.
I hope your Excellency accepts my government's request.

The Admiral read the message twice over examining it carefuly. He had what seemed to be a relieved look on his face and sighed as he put the the letter down on his desk.
His assistant looked up at him.
"Good news sir?"
"Yes my dear lady, Stevid has recieved a peacefull message from Credonia about avoiding war with the OMP."
"They could lose that... a wise move by their government."
"Yes, they also mention Stevid. They say they wish to continue talks and hope that this upset with the OMP hasn't dented these talks."
"Have they?"
"No, not in the slightest."
"Good... i was worried that war might break out."
"My dear Amber,"The admiral said while walking over to her."There is no way we can go to war over this. I can't see how my dear. Credonia is chasing more peaceful pursuits than in the past. We'll be okay."
He put a reasuring hand on her shoulder. She looked up thankfully up at him.
"Thank you sir."
"Don't mention it."
The plane didn't change course, the negotations were over between the naval forces, it was now an international economic and political battle between many nations in the OMP and Credonia, with no side showing any sign of giving in. Conroy 3 continued on it's way towards Stevid Intl Airport.
OOC: Just a bit off the topic, if you don't mind me asking Stevid, but as an individual nation within the OMP I'm rather curious about your claim of OMP membership. Though it does seem that you has consistently claimed your membership, I don't ever recall seeing your name in the OMP forums, and that's since the end of August.
Just some concerns, no hard feelings.

"Mr. President, they've rescinded their embargoes on everyone in OMP."
"Everyone?"
"Everyone. I assume that means us and Praetonia."
"Interesting."
"They also want us to go to talks in Credonia."
"We'll talk with them. In Woodstock."
"But sir, what if that calls off the talks before they begin?"
"We'll address that issue when the time comes. But for right now, I'm going to issue a statement."
"Sarzonia is pleased to hear that Credonia has rescinded their embargoes against OMP member nations. We have also noted Credonia's intentions to initiate talks with OMP member countries. We are willing to attend such bi-lateral talks with Credonia on the condition that those talks take place in our capital, Woodstock.
"If Credonia is truly serious about the peace process and legitimately wishes to resolve the issues that led to its initial call for talks with the Organisation of Maritime Powers, they will agree to come to Woodstock for the aforementioned talks."
Sarzo watched the camera's lights fade off and then sat in thought, waiting for Sutton's reply.
OOC: No, not at all. No hard feelins. Ever since Doujin left it hasn't been what the OMP used to be. But to put a finer point to it.... i lost the forum address. Sorry. And i never got around to ask someone to give me it. Sorry about that too. On the first ever OMP forum, I was the 10th member to join and i posted a lot, i just forgot the other and never found it again.
Seeing as your asking, Omz222, could you lend me the address? Thanks.

OOC: s7.invisionfree.com/omp It would be appreciated if you didn't in any way represent the OMP at conferences since you haven't been any part of it in months (I believe Doujin deleted both old boards in August some time.
OOC: Obviously I don't speak for the whole of the OMP, but to put it frankly you need to do a lot more catchup, though I don't know what the others (especially the administrators) will say. However, the address has been TGed.

Official Statement of the Imperial Government of Praetonia
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/PraeFlagII.jpg
"It is with great pleasure that the Democratic Imperium of Praetonia accepts to ceasation of economic and diplomatic hostilies offered by the United States of Credonia. The Democratic Imperium has always valued relations with Credonia and, although we are not unfortunately able to put the United States of Credonia before the majority of the Organisation of Maritime Powers, we do seek to repair relations with the United States of Credonia. It is for that reason that we invite your representatives to Praeton to discuss a treaty that will seal the normalacy of relations. It is with great regret, however, that we cannot yet allow our shipyards to accept your custom, as bilateral and multilateral talks with members of the Organisation of Maritime Powers are still on-going and are yet to reach any solid conclusion. We wish most sincerely that this occurance will not happen again and His Imperial Majesty Himself has expressed His looking forward to seeing your President in Praeton at some point in the near future."

Official Response From President Sutton
After bi-lateral talks between the OMP and Credonia are completed, and we hope they will be soon, I would be more than delighted to travel to Praetonia for the purpose of mending and normalizing relations between our two great nations. Please excuse the short response, however, I have pressing matters that need to be dealt with right away. I will be contacting your nation again very soon.
Kaimoni A. Sutton
Commander-in-Chief
President

IC
Official Statement From The Presidential Palace
Subject: Sarzonian Response
"Credonia does seek to have bi-lateral talks with Sarzonia in addition to multi-lateral talks with all nations from the OMP. Credonia will entertain such talks only if a neutral nation is selected for bi-lateral OMP-Credonian talks. Once that nation is selected, The President will travel to that nation to meet with the leaders of the OMP and its member nations. President Sutton sees no problem with conducting bi-lateral talks with Sarzonia in Woodstock, however, if agreed to have them held there, the President must be allowed to bring with him a small highly trained, lightly armed security detail (armed with 2 pistols per guard) for his assured protection. We will entertain such talks once all OMP talks have been completed and a clear resolution of the problem reached. We await a response from both the OMP and your government.
Lauren R. Smith
Secretary of State
United States of Credonia"

OOC: No problem. Like I said, I added a lot to my original post, which was about three lines at most. I'll add my IC reply later.
