Qakukaki

On the planet of Medkemia, the great empire of Lessir Tsurani reigns. Medkemia has three moons. The largest of these is Qakukaki. Qakukaki is inhabited by a peaceful race of tiny, blue-skinned people who have the uncanny ability to generate electricty. This can be used as a power source, or, if under attack, a deadly weapon. Until recently, the lives nof the Qakukakians were rather dull and pointless, but that was before they met the people of Lessir Tsurani. Nine feet tall and winged, they are are almost worshipped by the Qakukakians. They quickly discovered amazing new concepts, like "politics" and "music" and "crime". But what especially amazed them was space travel. Qakukaki is now developing it's own tiny space-ships (made mostly out of mud-bricks) and travelling to amazing new worlds and sending messages to other nations "just to let you know we're here". But please don't take advantage of them. They're very small and naive. And, of course, they spend three hours a day praying to a piece of garbage bin from Lessir Tsurani.

The light cruiser Agano was surveying the sector, keeping an eye out for any uninhabited planets that would make good strip mines. As the ship was leaving one of the systems after successfully marking the fourth planet for further inspection, a small, almost insignificant blip appeared on the sensor screens.
"Captain, we're reading a small... something. It appears to be made of a dried adobe compound of some sort. They're sending out a universal message."
Captain Kenji Jako sat up in his chair, interested at anything that would break the monotony of his current mission. He swiveled his chair around to the comm station. "What are they saying?"
The communications officer looked at the readout after the computer descrambled the alien gibberish and turned it into something he could read and understand. "Just a standard greeting, Captain. They're letting us know they're here."
"Do they know we're here?" Jako asked.
"Probably, sir. It's hard to tell anything about their technology, but we'd be hard to miss at our current position."
"All stop. Maintain our current position. We won't go to them, but if they see us and want to chat, we'll be here."
