Today, President Sutton authorized the massive expansion of the Credonian standing army in an attempt to keep a balance of Credonian forces at home and abroad. At this period of time, Credonia has over 3 million troops stationed in nations around the world serving a multitude of duties ranging from military deterrent to allied military support. This leaves only 1 million troops to defend the Credonian homeland, a relatively small number if faced with an invasion by a number of enemy nation states. Because of this imbalance, President Sutton signed off on a 3-year military plan that will draft, train, and make operational, 4 million additional troops to be added to Credonia's army. Two million will remain part of the standing army while the remaining two million will serve as a reserve and national guard, to be called upon in cases of national emergency and war.

President Sutton had this to say: "This military expansion is much needed, and this is only the first step in the expansion of Credonian military forces. We will be reciprocating the action, doubling the size of our navy and quadrupling our air forces to cope with the dangers that lurk in the murky future. Times have changed and military force in large numbers can play a large role in a nation's deterrent against aggressors, as well as military power, and its sorry to say, with Credonian forces stretched to the limit like they are, it is hard to maintain military deterrent and power when you only have a fourth of your standing army ready at any given time to respond almost immediately to invasions or other frivolous attacks upon our beloved homeland. The executive order that I have signed will boost Credonian homeland security and boast of Credonia's military might around the world, sending signals to current and potential enemies that Credonia will brook no aggression and we intend to retaliate relentlessly against any nation that attacks us until they have been totally and utterly annhialated."

The drafting of Credonian men will begin 2 months from now. Only men ages 18-45 that hold high school diploma's and are healthy and drug free will be drafted. Females are under no obligation to join, but we encourage them to stand aside the males and defend their country as their contribution to the security of this country is just as valuable and appreciated as anyone elses.

Quality over Quanity

OOC: there are other nations that are just as big as Credonia is or bigger than that have even larger standing armies and they are very powerful. Credonia's military forces are powerful, in that, we've never lost a war and weve only lost LESS than 7,000 troops in all of the wars we've been in combined, and trust me, we've been in a lot..so that was a consideration, but my main concern is the larger more powerful nations. I can easily take over a small nation with less than a million men because of my troop's tactics and experience, thats not a problem.

Credonia gives its assurances that such a military buildup is not for offensive purposes. Our military forces around the world will remain at DEFCON 4 until a threat emerges. We recognize thta some naytions may take this as a destabilizing move, but unless they are afraid of Credonia attacking them for some reason, then they have no reason to worry about our buildup, which will continue as planned so as we can maintain our global military deterrent.

We watch this with interest... but we have little worry of your intentions.

Stevid is not concerned at this military buildt up. We do not consider as a threat to Stevid. Although we are concerned at the placement of these troops. We respect your privacy Credonia and we understand that you might not want to disclose that information. So i''ll be blunt, are these troops destined for your colonies around the world?

His Imperial Majesty's Government has no reason to doubt the reassurances of the Credonian Government. We also see no reason to be alarmed by these developments.

We are, of course, completely neutral in this matter.

Tis depressing indeed to see yet another nation incapable of overcoming their instinctive desire to 'blow stuff up'. It is as though we are regressing as a species, rather than advancing.
One day, it is hoped that all nations be able to have sufficient willpower to overlook these primitive instincts and act responsibly, civilly and respectfully. For now, though, we will have to remain isolated.

DEFCON 4? Are you expecting something?OOC: I think the lower numbers on the DEFCON scale mean higher level threats. For instance, DEFCON 4 may be a general buildup of forces while DEFCON 0 may mean full-scale war. I'm not completely sure of the exact meanings of the scale, but that's how I remember it. I could still be wrong.

I know that you do not require or are looking for my consent of your recent military buildup. However I give it because I do trust that you have good intentions for it. I too have been planning to increase my military on the homeland. However I plan on withdrawing some of my troops in other nations. Do not mind the ideas of other nations for they should know that you have no intentions of planning a full scale attack of any sort. Good Luck in the future.

Terrorism is a treat, but really a home. I'm saying Creddy is weak, he is powerful enough to deter an attack. (As are many nations).

Message to Stevid

To lay to rest any concerns you may have, as was stated, the four million men being drafted will be used as reserves and national guard, meaning, they will only be used for homeland defense. This will leave 4 million troops free to be deployed where ever they need to be without compromising the security of the Credonian homeland. The forces being created will be as powerful as the currently existing military forces that are stationed at home and abroad (currently 3 million abroad, 1 million at home - you see why we need a homeland buildup now?)

Also, at this point in time, to say that Credonia is in NO military conflicts right now and faces NO threats globally would be a lie. We are in a couple conflicts where the use of military force COULD be warranted, which is why Credonian military forces globally are at DEFCON 4, however, we highly doubt the conflict will errupt into a full-all out war against the aggressors we are facing.

Message to the International Community

Credonia thanks the international community for their 'approval' on this matter. Credonia has at this time no plans to use the new forces anytime in the future for hostile offensive military acts. We can only again and again reiterate the fact that these new forces will serve as a homeland defense. No less than 4 million soldiers will remain on Credonian mainland at any one time and we intend to keep it that way so as to have a balance between forces deployed overseas and forces protecting our peoples.
