This will be the second time a Lord of the Rings RP. The first kind of died and the RPing wasn’t a very high quality. In this second RP, the setting would be a little different. Middle Earth will be divided into several realms (see the list). There will be several alliances such as Rohan-Gondor-Dol Amroth, the elven realms, Mordor-Rhun-Harad-Isengard, Erebor-Dale-Laketown and off course the dwarven realms. There will be several rules:

1.Be nice to each other. No flaming etc.
2.Certain knowledge of Lord of the Rings is required. It is really necessary to RP good. For any info, see http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/default.htm
3.RP with quality! And keep it realistic.
4.HAVE FUN!!!

I would join, but I'm already getting swamped in schoolwork and stuff. Not to mention, I'm also in roughly 19 RPs as of this moment.

Tree Hugging Lesbians-Rhun is yours
Eternal Dragon DPRK- I made you commander in chief. A sort of Boromir character, who has much to say and leads Gondors army from the front.
Relative Liberty- I am a huge fan of the books. I also like tho movies, as movies. I think some essential parts of the books were left out. And you wont find much info in the films for the RP. I recommend the books, or check the link I posted. Its a usefull site.

I've read the books twice this year (allthough the swedish translation is rumoured to hold over 2 000 errors). My main concerne was if Sauron is to be treated like a physical person (as can be interprated in the books) or as an abstract ¨eye¨ as in the movies.
I've visited the library of arda many times when I have been in need of refreshing my memory. It is a good site indeed.

2000 errors :eek: I read the Dutch and English versions. The translation is perfect and the translator was a friend of Tolkien :D.

One of the errors triggered a massive debate about if orchs have beard or not. I hope translators learn frome this incident.

It was the part when Peregrin and Meriadoc had been captured by the orchs. The English version says ¨against their filthy jaws¨ where as the Swedish version goes ¨mot orchernas skäggstubb¨ (against the orchs' bristles). The fact that some of them were Uruk-hai only made the debate even more complicated.

lol. I got to learn Swedish now. I'm interested in the mistakes! They could be pretty funny I believe.

I don't know them all since I haven't read the books in English. By the way, a new translation is hitting the rows, where the Baggins are called Säckins (literally Baggins) and the name of Rivendell has alos been changed (It used to be called Vattnadal, wich would be something like Wateryvallley*).

*: I mean watery as a childish ending, not adjective. Another translation would be if ¨Vattna¨ was meant to be the verb water.

Well, Independant Hitmen, Yr Wyddifra and I (the only ones who were still active in the old one) had the plan to just divide Middle Earth into realms. It will be just as NS nations, declaring war and peace and that kind of stuff. We don't really follow the storyline in the books or the movies. There isn't any ring.

Could turn out real good, or terribly bad if we're unlucky.

Glad to have Dol Amroth along our side. In this RP, the ring will be eliminated, it is not a factor in the RP. The idea is that Middle Earth is divided into several realms. They will wage war against the evil powers, propose new treaties, trade etc.

The dwarves aren't very popular it seems...

Frankly, I think battlefield sounds a little better than arena when roleplaying a nation. Other than that, the site seems decent enough.

Sure, Rea Dan can control the Corsairs. Arenumberg, feel free to take the Kingship of Gondor from my regentship. Aust, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the Woodland Realms ruled by Thranduil? He was the one the dwarves and Bilbo meet in The Hobbit.

I wonder...you have all the major factions that involve the LOTR story line...but you should know that there was about four different types of Orc factions inside mordor itself, as well as there being several for dwarves and elves...and I wont even begin to list the humans.

The numbers regard what I believe is the optimum each faction had. So you could have a lot more players in this rp...and I was wondering if I can't have some orcs to have.

I got pretty close on a lot at least...A real good intersting rp for Tolkien would be the battles between the Noldor and Morgoth. A war that lasted some 300+ years on and off.

Thrashia, no offense, but your list of 1000 for Dol Amroth is very off. When reinforcements come to Gondor, it says there were 700 men at arms and around 500 knights, and it also says "we had expected 10 times that number" since the outer kingdoms were fighting the Corsairs of Umbar. That would mean around 12000 soldiers. Also, when the final march to the Black Gate is made, when the forces set out from Minas Tirith, there are 4000 soldiers of Dol Amroth among them. But it's true, you were close on a lot. I don't see why you can't be some orcish race... But let's get started soon!

Why not just make "Fangorn" with a few hundred elves in it and he few hundred ents or so that remain. Any half decent RP'er can make a go of it, and it gives us more players.

Ok, here goes...

Prince Imrahil, Lord of Dol Amroth, looked out from the Citadel on an ocean as smooth as glass. In the three harbors of the bustling port city, commerce was happening at a blinding rate. Horses heaved heavy wagons full of marble down to the docks for shipment to the Grey Havens, and cartloads of fine elven weapons were carted to the Armoury. Do to the relative peace with the Corsairs, trade-ships were sailing south also. Over all, the tall and graceful Swan Ships presided. But Imrahil knew the peace could not last. Even before he turned his head in the other direction, he knew what would be there. He saw a great blackness coming from bleak, darkened peaks to the North-East. He also saw swaths of sand to the South, and imagined great hordes of haradrim and mumakil riding towards his land. But then he looked down into the courtyard of the Citadel, and saw the greatest Swan Knights fencing, there swords a blur, and jousting, each man One with his horse. And he knew that despite the Evil lurking on the horizon, the forces of Good, United, would prevail.

oh yes, i forgot to tell you that u have forgotten quite a few of the feifdoms that gondor has the ability to call upon for aid. not only is their dol amroth but also there are a few minor feifdoms, but they fight nontheless

all of the above feifdoms are habitated by men, and if u want, u could have them as seperate states for lots of people to play, or you could have them under one title, the Feifdoms of Gondor, if u only wanted a single person to play

They would probably be sorted under the category ¨Gondor¨.

Actually, I'm kind of controlling Anfalas, Lebenin, Pelargir, and Dol Amroth. And you could probably play as Isengard, seeing as Relative Liberty is controlling them. Or you could play as the remaining fiefdoms if you want...
