Tisopea

Today, amidst great pomp and ceremony His Royal Majesty King Karl II opened parliament for the first time in his three year reign. While the decesion to open Parliament surprised many, as Kings have rarely called Parliament in the past, Karl II stated it was "...for major reforms."

The reason: The Pains and Penalties Bill, a new bill introduced by the King that would effectively declare that it is heresy, and therefore treason, to not belong to the Episcopalian (Anglican) faith, under the Church of Tisopea (for which the King is supreme head). The penalty will be death, and the King (with the General Synod) has promised to set up an inquistition to combat such heresy.

And so, as the King and his bride road to the Hall of State by coach, the streets were lined with an expectant populace. Once the King arrived, he outlined his plans in a speech from the throne, speaking directly to the assembled House of Peers and House of Commons.

The bill was thus introduced to both houses to vote upon. It is expected that the final outcome will be known tommorrow. The Lord Secretary of the Privy Council, along with the Lord High Chancellor and Prime Minister, has already expressed his support for the bill, adding "This will finally put the King in the position he needs to be in: Head of Church and State."
