The Toledo submarine, the only one not on deployment in the Certe Conflict moved silently at a speed of 6 knots an hour, to prevent detection. They were on a routine patrol mission, of a normal nuclear submarine. They had been out for a week now, but something was to go wrong, terribly wrong.
Captain Xander Grantfield watched his crew operate in the sub, "Ok how long till the RZ point with the others of the fleet?"
"According to the chart, another few minutes."
"Excellent-" he was cut off as the sonar officer announced, "Ship detected, only one, there are supposed to be over 30 ships at the RZ, they should have arived by now!"
Something is wrong, The captain thought, another officer realized his fears, "Sir I realize the promblem... were in someplace where not supposed to be..."

Commander Kurt Jorstad of the Evermore-Class Destroyer DDG-05 walked over to stand by the helmsman of his ship and look over his shoulder out the reinforced glass window a little while. He had always loved the ocean, having grown up in a small seaside village; it had always amazed him how powerful and graceful the sea was. He had tried to take up a life of fishing, as many of his friends did when they got to be the appropriate age, but that had not worked out very well, and so when the Royal Navy was formed, he had joined up immediately, and he had never once regretted his decision. He had advanced quickly, and had eventually been commissioned as an Officer and a Gentleman in His Majesty’s Navy.
Having achieved a position in the Royal Navy Officer Corps, he once again advanced at a high speed, eventually becoming the youngest Commander in the Royal Navy at less than thirty-three years of age. Despite his years of experience, however, the seas never stopped keeping him fascinated with their immense power. He always enjoyed the days out at sea, and he was therefore usually happiest when on a mission. His mission had been to sail for the waters of Certe and join the Royal Navy forces already there along with a Royal Navy attack submarine, but both vessels had been recalled less than halfway to their destination and ordered to return to the Royal Navy base in Pacitalia.
His quiet thoughts were interrupted when his XO, Lieutenant Commander Cody Dorazio, tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
“Do you need something, Mr. First?” Jorstad asked him.
Dorazio nodded.
“Sir, it seems Sonar is picking up a submerged contact,” he said quietly.
“Is it the Skipjack that was sent along with us?” Jorstad asked.
Dorazio shook his head wordlessly.
Jorstad nodded.
“Right,” he said. “Let’s play it safe. Go to General Quarters, Mr. First.”
