As the fleet of twelve C-18 Galaxy II transport planes, escorted by ten FKF-1 air superiority fighters, air-dropped 3,000 soldiers and 85 APCs of the Fallschirmjäger, a light snow was falling over the Russian Oblasts of Saratov and Orenburg.

The paratroopers and APCs landed softly on the ground, spread-out across the land. This would mark a new era for North Germania: a peaceful extension of its power into Russia.

The cities of Saratov and Orenburg were quickly secured by the Fallschirmjäger, and soon a civilian settlement population would arrive. The soldiers encountered very little, except for a few small groups of people, apparently from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and various territories of Russia.

The Cottish border control was one of the tightest in the world, probably to keep illegal immigrants from entering the Empire. So, it wasn't strange that a whole load of refugees were stopped by the soldiers patroling the border. They spoke of a Germanian annexation of their areas, and that Germanian soldiers were entering their nation. It was true that Cottish radar/lidar stations had picked up a lot of signals in Orenburg and Saratov, but they had been dismissed due to their avoidance of the Cottish border.

The Emperor was informed of this alleged annexation within hours, and he immediately ordered the borders to the mentioned provinces to be shut down completely. As a result, 47 refugees were shot the following night when they attempted to cross the border illegaly. The surviving in those groups were arrested and brought to the nearest military base.

At the same time, satellites were being aimed at various locations in Saratov and Orenburg, watching the Germanians. The High Command decided that the Germanians wouldn't be a threath to the Cots, so the only measure that was taken was the increased patroling of the borders.

The following message went out to the Germanian high command

We have become aware of your annexation of the territories known as Saratov and Orenburg, and want to make sure that this annexation does not affect Cottish national security. We already have a massive increase in attempts to breach our national boundaries from refugees from said territories, but that is being taken care of. All we want is a confirmation that the Germanian forces will not attempt to cross the Cottish border without Cottish authorisation. In advance, thank you.
