Construction of the Fabusism Defense Line
"This is Czar Sam Fabus speaking to you. As of right now, my engineers have sent me a plan detailing the construction of a defense line, to totally enclose Kahta and her North American possesions. As you know, much of the newly aquired Mississippian Federation is enclosed by defenses. This Fabusism line will defend the beaches of Kahta in: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The Fabusism Defense line will then extend inland, to the border of The Canadian Union.
The Fabusism Defense Line, will be the exact same as the Sir Fabus Line, the only difference being, it is bordering Kahta on the north, and defending the coast. The estimated cost will be $50 Trillion dollars, paid over the course of 50 years, $20 Trillion will be paid out from the "Rainy Day fund" the remaining $30 trillion will be financed by selling bonds, paid back at 5% interest for 30 years. The construction will also pay for the placement of over 500,000 sea-mines along the Kahta coast, and pay for a passive sonar system to be installed, to detect ships and submarines that are in Kahta's waters without permission.

OOC: 50...TRILLION DOLLARS!? You do know that sum of money might be appropriate if the ENTIRE WORLD was donating stuff, but not for one nation. Not at all.
By utilizing the resources that Kahta has, construction is expected to take 5 NS years. However, mechanization will be the number one priority of this project, and it is possible that it will take less time. This is Czar Sam Fabus. Signing off."

How are you going to defend the coast with it?

My GDP is 97 Trillion. If I finance this, I can afford it.

OOC: How is anyone going to cross a 500 foot wide, and 100 foot deep trench? or how about concrete pyramids that go 150 feet up?

[OOC: Big bombs render those pyramids useless, as well as airdrops and such. The 500 foot wide trenches are a bit pointless because the tanks/men would build a bridge over it since it's technically a river type defense system.]

IF they are trenches why build bridges. I would just have a level going down into the wide trench and then another ramp going out of it.

The pyramids are there because its virtually impossible to cross them. If they are destroyed, they turn into massive rubble piles, and here's a hint: There are explosives under the pyramids.
The trenches are 100 feet deep. Its not possible to build a bridge over them, its not the same as a river, the principle of a river bridge is that the water provides flotation for the pontoons.

This ramp would have to be huge, considering the trench is 500 feet wide, and 100 feet deep.

Pontoon bridges? No, I'm talking about whosale prefabricated steel bridges.
As for the pyramids, adding explosives under them is just wasting useless money because if someone drops a GBU-28 on them then the explosives add to the power of the GBU-28 and the destruction of the pyramid is guaranteed.

(OOC: 500 foot long and 100 foot deep trenches and overly sized building blocks of sorts...is anyone else thinking these defenses cartoonish, impractical, and a waste of material?)

Three words: Tactical Nuclear Weapon
OOC: The pyramids are easy to kill. There are bridges that can span giant trenches that are used to Army Engineers and can support tanks.

Prefab bridges? How do you produce it, or even put it into place?

500 feet?
I'd like to see a link.

[OOC: Same way a prefabricated house works. You have sections of the bridge carried by trucks to where it needs to be set up. Then you have your engineers set up the construction area, with heavy armor, artillery, and general military protection, and they piece the bridge together bolting it where necessary. They aren't desing to last very long, just enough to get across, capture the bridgehead, and such. It's assumed that after a real grade bridge will be built.]

OOC:Besides Kahta... $50 million is over half of your GDP... that means ALOT of stuff isnt going to be maintained for QUITE awhile. This includes(but not limited to)
Commerce:Bye, bye wages=unhappy populus
Healthcare: bye, bye hospitals=unhappy populus
Strategic Weapons:Bye, bye maintnence=crappy ICBMs that wont launch or/and explode OR fall apart in mid air.
Conventional Military:Bye, bye expensive equipment and training= crappy military that could be beaten by 3 ladies with brooms.
Any others?

No, as a said, I'm paying for it with a rainy day fund, and financing it over the long term. Current Services will not be effected.
[how convienant, a $20 Trillion "Fund". Anyways, just blow up the pyramids and fill the trenches with the rubble. Hoorah, end of discussion.]

OOC: Even so, over 50% of your budget going to one project can't be good. What is the total money going into other works? What about repair for the defensive barrier? What about the cost to maintain an army to guard the barrier? What protection does it have against natural disasters that might hit it? You've got to factor that into the cost too.
Especially repair. A 50 TRILLION dollar thing is goint to cost a butt-load.

50 Trillion is the estimated cost. The way things are done in Kahta, is we estimate the highest possible cost, and work down from there, its a lot better than the way things are done in most places, where the lowest cost is calculated, and then the price goes up. Personally, I think this is how the RL government should do things.
