Sheboygan Aeronautics: Sy-1 Air Supierority Fighter "Viper"

General:

The Sheboygan Aernautics Sy-1 "Viper" Air Superiority Fighter is designed to clear the skies of all enemy planes, fighters include. The Viper can be used as a ground attack plane, fighter plane, and a naval fighter plane, even though the fighter has many variations, it is still one of the best fighters in the world. Current variations include a two seater trainer, an attack plane, an naval plane and a air superiority fighter. The airframe is constructed to be extremely aerodynamic, but the only rawback is that it is highly unstable, so unstable that even computers have trouble keeping the plane in track, therefore the Sy-1 has front cannards, other wise the plane would note be able to fly properly, it also increases the maneuverability extremely.

Design:

The Sy-1 came about from the Afrikaphiter Program, founded by the Afrikaan Government for a domestic air superiority fighte craft. After serving in service with the Afrikaan Luftwaffe for half a year, the export version came about, which is freely sold to other nations. The airframe is a smooth frame with room for cannards, the wings, two ITV engines, and various weapons. The craft can carry up to one missile on each wing tip, to maximize output. The craft also has an internal bay, and external[optional mounts]. The internal bay is added for stealth attack missions, and the external mounts are used in non-stealthy missions, such as air defence, and close support. There are no tail elevators. And the wing is in the delta shape, with a indent in the back at one point. The entire airplane is structured with a Radar Absorpant Material[RAM] and along with heat signature neatraulisers. This allows the plane a quite of stealth when using all internal weapons and removing all external mounts.

Cockpit:

The cockpit, depending on the variation, has one or two seats. The one seat version is the version used for non-training missions, but inorder to train the craft has a second seat for the trainer. The cockpit has a visualization of each essential thing and the two main screens can be switched from one to the other depending on the needs. But the most of the HUD is in the helmet. Put on your helmet and turn it on, plugin the back-up cable for transfer of essential information. The HUD uses the helmet screen as the projection screen, and the sensors keep track of all targets for the pilot, if the pilot turns their head, the HUD follows allowing them to target planes behind or to the side of them easier. The HUD Helmet[HUDH] is some of the best technology availble for the fighter pilot, of course the traditional HUD can still be installed.

Weapons:

Missiles possible to mount are literally all NATO approved missiles, all Afrikaan Missiles and Israeli missiles, there are even adapters included with your order to change the moutns to non traditional Soviet-style mounts. Sheboygan missiles include the Lance, the Spear, the Axe and the Gladius air to air missiles. Air to ground missiles include the Sheboygan Naptha and Bolt.
The lance can be mounted on the wing tip mounts. The spear, axe and gladius can be mounted on any external mount and the two side interanl mounts. The Naptha and Bolt can be put on the middle internal mounts, the side external mounts and all other external mounts. There are a total of ten points. Two wing mounts, two side fuselage mounts, two center wind mounts, and four internal mounts. All mounts except the wing tip, and external side of fuselage mounts can carry three missiles or bombs. The external side fuse lage can only carry bombs and the wing tip only missiles, light. For more infromation on weapons visit ... our soon to be missile page. The craft also is equipped with a 20MM three barrel rotary cannon[P44].

Counter-Measures:

The aircraft's defensive sub-system (DSS) is accommodated within the aircraft structure and integrated with the avionics system. DSS responds to single or multiple threats. DSS includes an electronic countermeasures, front and rear missile approach warners, supersonically capable towed decoy systems, laser warning receivers and chaff and flare dispensing system. The avionics system is based on a NATO standard databus with fibre optic highways.

Sensors:

The craft sensors are equipped with an multiple mode X-band micro pulse doplar radar. The radar has three different channels for processing. The third channel is used for jammer classification, interference blanking and sidelobe nulling. The PIE [Passive Infrared Equipment] is mounted on the port side of the fuselage, forward of the windscreen. PIE operates in both 3-5 and 8-11 micron spectral bands. When used with the radar in an air-to-air role, it functions as an Infrared Searching and Tracking system ([RST], providing passive target detection and tracking. In an air-to-surface role, it performs multiple target acquisition and identification, as well as providing a navigation and landing aid. PIE provides a steerable image to the pilot's helmet-mounted display.

Navigation - Communications:

The CNI communications, navigation and identification system includes an intra-flight datalink, joint tactical information distribution system link and an identification system. The system is a very powerful computing system that allows the pilot to manage all possibilties in contact with enemies and allies, to receive all data. The system can try to identify the craft by its radar signature, infrared signature and other things, along with visual confirmation by software. Of course the planes signatures are sent to the database within the planes computers and then tells the pilot the suspected plane type, and the friend or foe status.

Targetting:

The targetting system uses a diamond to track all targetted crafts. All friendly craft are circles and unknowns are squared, the color also affect this, targets red, unknow yellow, and green are friendly. The targetting system is confirmed by the pilot touching the plan on the radar screen, or when the automatic identification system identifies it as hostile.

Engines:

Powered by two SYE-ITV engines pushing thirty eight thousand pounds of thrust each accelerates the plane quickly. The airplane can fly on one engine, if needed, the computers can control the plane on one engine. The engines are powerful enough to "super-crusie" at about mach one and a half, without the after burners. Another new technology used in the SYE-ITV engine is that they have independent thrust vectoring technology which allows the engine to move freely to co-operate with the turn, allowing the plane to do turns and climbs and dives quicker than any other fighter planes on the market.

Avionics Systems:

The plane is flown entirely by fly-by-wire programs and uses the ever upgrading and allow the plane to turn and maneuver properly. The craft is a completely unstable airframe and need the Sy-1 FBW program to fly or die.

We commend you on your design. It proves to be a very individualistic effort, and for that we admire you - especially since it is your first.

Praetonia - Sheboygan Aeronautics Contract

An agreement with the Imperial Praetonian Fighter Command for fifty billion USD. The contract has allowed IPFC production rights to the Sy-1 "Viper". The technology has all been included and one example has been sent with all the technical documents and production notes. The only reason all technology was icnluded with this order is becasue the Afrikaan Relations with Praetonia Thank you.

Aeronautical Operations, Sheboygan Corporation, Derrik Hamus.

[OCC: Agree'd upon with MSN]

Aha! Another Wisconsonite is on these forums! Amaizing. I'm from Janesvill, just so you know. (Not that I'd make a Janesville Aeronautic Industry though.)

Anyway, just thought I'd say nice job. It's good, but expensive.

Nice one AZK, I still say my Cockatiels pwn, though.

I'd give it a 9/10 actually, very nice.
