(I lost my previous 1bn+ nation Lasatania as I didn't log in for ages.. gah! :headbang: )

The Ruling Council of the People's Democratic Republic of Koningrad today announced its secession from the states of Denmark and Germany and its declaration of independece.

(Background: This nation is comprised of the Germany territory of Schleswig-Holstein and the Danish territory of Sonderyllland and Vejle. Capital city is Hamburg, with a second major administrative city, Vejle, in the North.)

Ruling Council chair Marcus Hollbergen has called on all citizens of the new Republic to prepare themselves for the defence of the state in the face of possible attacks at its newfound independence. He also called on freedom-loving nations throughout the world to provide support to the new nation.

The Ruling Council has also moved in favour of democratic elections to be held once the nation's constitution is completed. Executive powers will therefore remain in the hands of the Ruling Council until such elections have been held.

Significant naval forces have been retained by Koningrad, despite resistance from the former nations in whose territory the new country is formed from. While armed forces of the former nations located inside the territory have been the option of either forming the core of the new armed forces or returning to their home territories.

Koningrad Ruling Council To Deport Non-Citizens

Press release, dated 8/3/05

In order to prevent subversion against the new state and to ensure hegemony among its people, the Ruling Council of Koningrad has moved in favour of deporting any citizens from Denmark or Germany who refuse to become citizens of the new state. The emergency measure was introduced following a vote of 16-2 in favour and will take effect within 48 hours.

All non-citizens falling foul of the new law will be offered transport and compensation for their deportation. Any non-citizen wishing to swear allegience to the new state can do so at their local Registration Office, where they will be enroled in the Citizenship Programme.

The Ruling Council has stressed that this is a temporary piece of legislation and has only been introduced to prevent attacks on the state by those not loyal to it.

Koningrad to normalise international relations, recognititon of new state sought

Ruling Council Chair Marcus Hollbergen has addressed the citizens of the new state at a special meeting held in Hamburg City Hall last night. In his speech, Hollbergen called on the international community to recognise the new state and invited foreign nations to establish diplomatic links with Koningrad.

To date, the German Chancellor has warned that further declarations of independence by the new state could result in military action to regain territory claimed by the Ruling Council. Conversely, the Danish Government has agreed to cede the territory claimed by Koningrad following a referendum among the local population which found that 80% were in favour of ceding.

In other news, the Military Council, reponsible for the formation of the new armed forces, has said that it has had a positive response to the call for officers to form the core of the new fighting forces. Over 80% of officers currently based in the territories comprising Koningrad have expressed a desire to take citizenship of the new state and prepare for possible defensive exercises.

"The Durthangist Reich recognizes the new state, Koningrad and wishes to send an ambassador to your nation to open diplomatic relations. Vermin is also willing to provide you with arms and advisors for your new army, followed by the machinery required to build your own weapons factories. Offcourse we do expect you to cease deportations and or naturalisation of our citizens."

OOC: Could you tell me whether your nation is communist, capilatist, right winged ... ?

OOC: I'll second Vermin, could you give us a idea of your political stance, since it's a little hard to recognise or condemn you if you're not telling us what you really stand for. ( I know Lasatania is Socialist but what is Koningrad?)

OOC: Probably a centralist democracy to begin with.. but after that who knows.. Elections will be held in the near future, but as ever I'm on NS while at work so my response time is gonna be l.....o.....n.....g!
