The League of Federated States [Future Tech]

The League of Federated States is a new alliance devoted to military, economic, and political cooperation. The bicameral League Senate is the means to achieving influence and power within the League, and ambitious politicians can find themselves achieving the rank of Chairman, and those with even more ambition can talk their way into becomming ruler of an Empire in all but name.

The two chambers of the Senate is the Popular Senate and the National Senate, the former being composed of members based on population, and the latter having a simple one nation, one vote membership. The Popular Senate has the power to enact many laws, but only the National Senate can appoint the Chairman and manage research/military projects. Both must agree in order to modify the all-powerful League Constitution, which is binding on all members.

The Chairman can appoint advisors, propose laws, and declare war, but his real power allows him to interpret the Constitution. Though he can only propose ammendments, he can corrupt the meaning of the current document to his own gain. If he goes too far, he may lose influence and fall from power, so political parties and alliances are a neccesity.

A message from Ork space is delivered by a human emissary

The Confederation of Orkish Clans is interested in joining your League of Federated States. Although we are not the most diplomatically adept nation, the combat prowess of our Boyz, Nobz, and Bosses, and the ferocity of our Kaptain's kroozers and dessies, is spoke of with fear from the core to the outer arms. We can supply muscle to your alliance, in exchange for power and weapons. Come to think of it, just give us weapons and we'll do the rest.

Are nations allowed to withdraw from the League at any time?
Fellestar

Fellestar would also say what it can offer to the League of Federated States:

Strong millitary in our navy based around The Zakane Monilith and an army of Mind controlled Combat Suits

An Investagation Force/ Inquisition

These are but two of the many things we can offer

The Lord Drazkador also swears not to use his powers to influence any other members or take control of it. His power has limits and certian reaches.

Fellestar:

Interim Chairman James Emmet has decided to allow Fellestar membership in hte League of Federated States. He appreciates your offers of military aid technology, and the interest Fellestar has shown in the League. You need only send a someone to represent you in the National Senate, as League members have not decided how many people for each representative. Whenever the first National Senate meeting is held (whenever I set up a forum, which should be soon), this and other issues will be addressed.

Nargopia:

Our current Interim Chairman, James Emmet, has decided that nations can withdraw from the League at any time. Unless something happens to change the views of League members, it appears highly unlikely that this is subject to change.

Greenskinz:

The League welcomes the Confederation of Orkish Clans, and thanks them for their willingness to defend the League, even before they are confirmed as members. Of course, the Confederation has been confirmed to the League, and may send its own senator to the National Senate whenever it wishes. Whenever all the senators are assembled, we will decide on issues such as representation in the Popular Senate and military and technological cooperation. Our Interim Chairman, James Emmet, is currently preparing for this meeting.

The Confederation thanks Fluffywuffy for our acceptance into the League. The various clans will immediately begin squabbling amongst themselves for the honor of sending a representative.

(May I suggest Alliance forums?)

(I am creating alliance forums as we speak. They will be up in 30 minutes or so, and I will edit the first post in here and add in a link.)

The League is happy to confirm Green Sun as our latest member, and the Interim Chairman wishes for Green Sun to send its representative to the National Senate as soon as possible, so as to help prepare a Constitution and other matters.

OOC: Is that constitution written yet, or still to-be-created?
Fluffywuffy

(The Constitution is not yet written. It has not even started to be written)

The Dominion of Theao has been confirmed as a member of the League, and, as with the other members, the Interim Chairman wishes for Theao to send a representative to the National Senate as soon as possible. This is to begin the construction of the Constitution and to agree upon other issues.

Might I suggest we have a factbook forum on the alliance boards? I prefer to keep them offsight, and it would give other members a better sense of who their allies are.

Maybe restricted post, but unlimited viewing. That would let us link it without people posting stupid crap in the threads.

Unless I have set up something incorrectly, I think I have it set to that you must register in order to post/read/anything in any forum. But what would you put in the factbook to make it top secret?

Greenskinz

Yeah, every forum is 'blind' to outsiders. However I know for a fact that you can set it up so some are accesabile and some aren't. Not sure how though, never been an Invision mod.

Take a look at this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=401734) for an example of Kendaryn technology. Magic and science are fully integrated in Kendari. I don't think it's over powerful; primarily, it explains things like FTL travel, which might not be possible through the laws of physics.

"Yeah, every forum is 'blind' to outsiders. However I know for a fact that you can set it up so some are accesabile and some aren't. Not sure how though, never been an Invision mod."

It's an annoying little box that lists several user categories [mod, admin, banned, guest, etc.] with check boxes that say what they can and can't do. I can edit the guest rights in the factbook/general forums in a few minutes.

"Hmmm...Hey, Fluff, when teh boards are done, what does it take to become a mod or an admin?"

Well, because I am evil and power hungry and paranoid, no one becomes an admin. However, you may become a moderator by being a moderator. What do I mean? I mean, having a clean record (no spam, or similar foolishness), avoiding flame fests, and trying to stop those that do happen.

I propose for the popular senate, it's one representative per 100 million people
nations under 100 million have 1 representative in all other case population is rounded down.

Eh, we'd have to keep updating it every month or so. If anyone wants to do that, fine with me. However a one-time count would be more practical, since 1) I doubt most people will have seperate blocs within their own delegation and 2) since population growth is linear, everyone's count will remain relevant.

Please, create a new thread in the National Senate forum in the League forums, and propose and debate and vote on this as a clause in the Constitution. As far as I know, you can post, it's just the random tweakings [guest rights] that need working.

I thought I was the only one...

Anyways, are the forums up yet?

As for the popular senate idea, um...No. Takes too much power away from the smaller states and leads to more corruption.
Greenskinz
11-03-2005, 01:23
forums are up, and weve hammered out a deal where every small nation gets at least two members (I'll have twenty for example). If you object, find the thread and post, maybe we can work something otu.
Fluffywuffy
11-03-2005, 01:24
The Popular Senate is designed to give larger states more power in certain areas, with the National Senate to act as a moderating force. The original post doesn't say that, I think, as there is a typo, but I'll fix that in a second.

And yes, the forums are open, and because you have come late to them you missed the first vote on the first resolution. You can, however, propose a new resolution to override/ammend the passed one, if you disagree (even if you disagreed, the resolution would still have passed, as I think it was like 4 out of five going yes. Too lazy to count).
