Background History of Stevid

Stevid has been a democracy before in it’s lifetime, at the founding of the nation itself a small and overall weak democracy. It was a small sustainable government and enacted its laws with little opposition. And for decades it had remained a huge island nation in the stormy Atlantic Ocean.

The government boasted peace and disarmament that few citizens in the country accepted. In that moment in time in the world there were few nations that didn’t feel threatened by other nations or who were at war. Stevid needed protection to defend its land, airspace and most importantly waters and fishing industries. The government didn’t listen for the cry of protection and soon enough an accident occurred. A Boeing 747 passenger plane that had been hijacked flew towards Stevid’s pride and joy building. One of the biggest social offices in Stevid felt the brunt of the plane as it smashed into one of the building’s key structural points. The building stood proud for three and a half hours that the gave time for three quarters of the building’s employees before the building crashed to the ground.

It was only eighteen days later that over half the populace decided to do something about the government. Michael Conroy was the leader of the rebellion preaching re-armament and exiling the current opposition political parties. The rebellion was seventy million men strong with ages ranging from thirteen to sixty- five. On the first of April, the rebellion struck. The Stevid Civil War had begun. Rebel cells across the nation rose up all at once at noon seizing small towns and villages. The armed forces responded slowly as the government tried numerous futile attempts to find peace. Finally the government realised that peace wasn’t the way through this and decided to react with force with whatever they had left. One hundred tanks were all they had left. Most military bases had been quickly over run by thousands of rebels. The government surrendered after only four days into the rebellion with one hundred fifty dead armed forces and forty dead civilians.

M. Conroy took power and swiftly used the sprawling economy to rebuild and properly train the armed forces, concentrating mainly on the Royal Navy. All funds from other services, apart from Defence and Law & Order, where diverted to bringing Stevid up the ladder. The new SSP (Stevid Secret Police) was created. Ruthless and passive, they generally stay undercover and keeping out of the way, but when called upon they are as feared as the KGB and as ruthless as the SS, now crime is almost forgotten as the dinosaurs.

M. Conroy died with one son, the current leader of Stevid, David Michael Conroy.
D. Conroy had different views for the country’s citizens, more political and civil rights, improved trade and making the armed forces better than better than perfect.
These policies haven’t been completely fulfilled, but the Navy is now a worldwide known force capable of delivering results with little or no losses and is now one of the top most powerful navies in the world.

D. Conroy also pledged Empire building and soon enough a small but relatively powerful Empire was built consisting of five large nations, Adaptus Astrates, Dead Fox, Miliatary Enterprises, British Navy and the founder nation Stevid.

Past conflicts don’t usually want to be remembered by the Stevid public or Government, even though Stevid had yet to lose a war to another country of equal, smaller, or bigger size. But plenty of conflicts have occurred. Political tensions between the nation of Much Much Evilness resulted in a short but violent occupation of the nation. The next conflict was between a coalition of nations against Credonia, conflict was short and in the end was left to Credonia and Holy Panooly, a conflict that soon grew cold and months of hostilities between the nations grew into nothing but name calling.
The second conflict was in the country of one of Stevid’s closest allies, Holy Panooly. The Panooly civil war was waged on multiple fronts and resulted in deaths untold that led to governmental win in Panooly.
The next conflict is just beginning in Africa in the country of Sudan. With Stevid fighting along side old enemies for the greater good.

National Anthem

Sung to the Hymn Jerusalem

http://www.weddingguide.co.uk/articles/wordsmusic/hymns/Hymn-AndDidThoseFeetInAncientTimes.mid

And did those men full of grace,
Walk upon Stevid's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On Stevid's rolling hills be seen?
And did those men preach out to God,
Upon our clouded hills on high?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Upon Stevid’s pleasant pastures seen?

Small Pause

Bring me my fleet of floating pride!
Bring me my captains of valour!
Bring me my sword! O enemies, all fall!
Bring me my ships of death!
I will not cease my love for faith,
nor shall I deny God’s power,
till we have built Jerusalem
In Stevid's green and pleasant land!

Stevid’s Military
www.freewebs.com/stevid (OOC: sorry if it is a bit basic and i haven't up dated it yet)

A force that has fought in many wars and skirmishes; the Stevid military is a respected fighting force by both friend and foe.
The pride and joy of Stevid is the navy, and the pride and joy of the navy was the HMS Akira, an Akira class battleship which was decommissioned due to it’s age. At the moment there is no flagship for the entire navy of Stevid.
