[OOC:Titan Armour Corporation - Agosto Industrial Park, Agosto, Altair, Afrika
Presenting: The Jagerpanzerkampfwagen 1 Loki[JPKW.1L]
Production Faculties:
With over one-hundred production factories in Lunggden alone, there are over five hundred country wide. The factories are capable of producing up to five thousand tanks a day, even though they require many hours to complete they are capable of mass production as illustrated by the Panzkerkampwagen PKW.1E Export Version which sold over one hundred thousand units. The Afrikaan company had other companies assist in the huge project, to produce enough units for the Afrikaan Military and over twenty thousand export avaible PKW-1E.
Chassis:
The chassis of the JPKW.1L was researched an Titan Armour's Advanced Combat Lab[ACL] for the King Elephante Improvement Program. The task of the research was to find a modular chassis that could be adapted for multiple purposes. This resulted in the Modular King Elephante Project, which was, at the time, lead by Manitoba Arms. After many flaws in the project the companies abandoned the chassis. After many years of research an new chassis was deisgned called the Donar Legion Armoured Chassis System which was literally a chassis designed for armoured vehicles. The Loki Variation uses the new Oderin Corporation's Advanced Chassis Project[ACP] Milo Chassis System[MCS] which is being implemented in many new vehicles. The frame used was remodeled after crew compartment issues in the original. The new frame has the engine in the front, to better protect the crew. The rear exit is a two door lock-down similar to that used in most APCs. There are two exits for the crew to exit through, the top exits, or the back exit. The entire system is modular meaning if wanted the engine could be moved to the back while a new front was designed. Therefore variations are easier than ever to make.
Modules:
The only module available to the Loki is the missile pod system. The current missile pod system can fire a varios amount of missiles. The Armoured Missile Pod System[AMPS] is currently default to all Loki units. Missiles: TOW[ - 3], AGW[Advanced Grenade Weapon - 4], AATW[Afrikaan Armoured Tank (Killer) Weapon - 3], LOSATW[Line-Of-Sight Anti-Tank Weapon - 2], and the ARS[Advanced Rocket System - 4]. The number after the name is the amount of projectiles in each pod. The AGW has 10 grenades in each tube. Each tank can have up to two pods.
Engine:
The engine is designed at Manitoba Arms' Propulsion Department. The engine is the MAE-DE2.3K, which pushes a massive 2,300HP. The engine can run all forms of diesel fuels. The engines ventilation system uses fans pushing air through a liquid-nitrogen pumped coil, cooling the air therefore cooling the engine under extreme conditions, monitors keep track of tempature and turn the fans on when needed. The engine is surrounded by an armoured firewall on all sides. The engine also has some of the thickest armour any where in the vehicle, not for the engine but for the crew. The engine and the armour makes the tank nearly impervious to all attacks from the front. The armour in the front is equal to or greater than three times the amount of armour on the Abrams MBT. The engine has an eltrical generator that runs off of a small gasoline reserve if the main engine and it's generator is shut down. The generator provided enough power to keep the tanks vital systems running in case of an emergency. The transmission is made by Oderin Corporation. The ODC-AT.K is geared and is optimised to maximise the output of the engine. The tranmission controls the gears with an automatic shifting system that can be manually controlled if required. A computer controls the amount of power sent to each tread for turns. Technically the tank is drive-by-wire, but it does have the manual tools for driving also. The transmission is durable and well-built, newest modifcations allow Auto-Pilot to like tools to control the gears and treads for driving to specific locations.
Weapons:
The P55 cannon is a versitale yet rugid gun used to its fullest extent in the Loki. The P55 is a 125MM smoothbore gun the uses the A125 type round. The A125 round is literally the normal round[with different shells] with a magnum-style 145MM calibre sized cartridge. That explosion is powerful enough to propel the shell at extreme speeds allowing the shell to destroy many targets in one shot. The cannon has maximum range of six miles, at four miles the shells fall, up to three to four miles is suggested range. The cannon unlike most guns doesn't have a "true" firing pin. The shell is fired electronically, similar to the Metal Storm System. This increases effiency of the gun and also has other advantages. The gun is classified as a Eletronicaly Fired Smooth Bore Cannon 125MM[+145][EFSBC-125]. The cannon has stabilazation tools that keep the gun on its target along with sighting tools it is a very accurate system.
The P44 rotary cannon is automatic cannon used to take out light vehicles and if required infantry. The P44 is a three barreled rotary cannon of 20MM/ The cannon fits into a "turnable" co-axil position which can be controled by the gunner. The gun has a high rate of fire for a cannon and has many different types of ammunition for the various targets it will encounter. The gun's maximum range of two miles but loses accuracy before the mark.
P15 MACHINE GUN | 12.7MM is a heavy machine gun for anti-air purposes and anti-infantry purposes, it can even penetrate light vehicles. The gun has enough power to stop most enemy helicopter in flight. The gun has an effective range of up to 1 mile. There are two P15s.
The P33 machine gun is an automatic weapon designed for anti-air and anti-ground purposes. The P33 can take out light vehicles, infantry, helicopters, UAVs, and even low flying airplanes. The gun has a maximum range of one and a half miles but drops slightly before the mark. The Loki has two P33s one for AA, and the other for all other purposes.
Computers:
The Loki is powered by an networked system of 3.2GHZ multi-processor 64-bit ABM micro-computers. The computers monitor everything in the vehicle and even process images from the scopes and cameras. They can also clean the images of thermal night-vision to enhance what the users see. Thanks to the imaging tools the computer can help increase the image seen by the scopes cameras, and other systems. The program also helps filter our to bright of images, ones that would damage or harm the eyes of the person looking in the scope, automatically. The computers can connect to local Military Unit Networks, which share data with other units through computers. The MUNs compatible are: All Afrikaan Variations, and almsot all other systems. Powered by the newest variations of the MOS 1 RISC based system with many small adjustments. The system automatically activates when the vehicle is turned on and can run specific functions. The operating system also has the HUD, RADAR and other systems. The tools allow you to easily switch from one essential program to another to correctly control the vehicle. Though the system literally is the replacement to manual systems, it does have a manual back-up to all essential processes. The FLIR systems and other scopes aare all integrated into the computers. There are five monitors in the vehicle. Each monitor is used as a desktop in the operating system and you can send program to and from each other through the network. The driver and commander have two screens each while the gunner has one. The systems used in the computer gunning program allow the guns to target multiple targets at once with independent scopes and target sharing programs, therefore it is easier than ever to use the multiple target system. The Multiple Target Module Systems[MTMS] uses the gunner's computer to allow the gunner to target all the targets the commander sends him at once, then he can command the turret to target the enemy vehicle. The MTMS also allows him to uses multiple rockets, guided or otherwise, at the same time as the guns. Finally the system uses a fire and forget method for the rockets in the Missile Pod Module.
Chemical Protection:
The Loki uses a two part NBC and air filtration system. The bottom filter, on the bottom incase the top one is destroyed, uses a water collecting "bucket" so to say if driving in water, it will automaticall close the hatches. If the top filtration system is destroyed, the hatches are closed and isolated, at this point the crew has limited survivablity. The filter is called the Positive Collection Filter. The filter is a unltra thin positively charged grid that acts as a magnet to the negatively charged particles of pollutents and other deadly materials. The filter also has an liquid-nitrogen cooling system and heating system similar to that of the engine. The tank is lined with radiation absorpant materials. When pressurized the vehicles is safe from most NBC or air pollution threats. The doors and hatches are all able to be sealed allowing a completely air tight vehicle,
Armour:
Front: Up to 320MM[RHA-4500MM] of armour with the addition of the engine and ERA.
Sides: Up to 140MM to 150MM[RHA-1900MM] of armour with the addition of ERA.
Back: Up to 100MM to 120MM[RHA-1300MM] of armour with the addition of ERA.
Top: Up to 70MM to 100MM[RHA-1200MM] of armour with th addition of ERA.
The Loki uses a modernized version of the newly developed Oderin Corporation's Ragnarok Armour System. The armour is organized into three layers, the armour itself, the ERA "Buffer" and then the ERA. The armour is explained below, the ERA Buffer is an area of flaps that will shoot out if they are hit, or after both ERA fires have been used. The ERA, or Explosive Reactive Armour is not required but is bolted onto all non-close quarters[to lightly armoured or unarmoured units] vehicles. There can be up to two layers of independently firing ERA armour, one behind the other. The computer's inside the vehicle control the ERA and the reactions. The cmoputer's radar system scans for incoming shells which then fires the appropiate ERA layer which points to the target.
Ragnarok Armour System
The Ragnarok Armour System[RAS] is a armoured system designed to be used in heavy vehicles that need heavy protection. The major components of the armour are: depleted uranium, steel alloys, carbon [N] whiskers threaded into steel alloys, ceramic honeycomb, and armind fibre. The armour is composed of a large depleted uranium shell, with steel alloy threaded with carbon whiskers, a ceramic honeycomb, followed by steel alloys mixed with carbon whiskers, this repeats multiple times, with a final layer of depleted uranium and then armind fibre. The armour can be used in many different vehicles and can have ERA Buffer and ERA attachments along with the ability to be replaced easily through sheet reproduction. The ERA system is made of a layer or two of ERA materials that have sensors detecting incoming projectiles. It calculates the path and other required information about the projectile, the main computer then activates the appropiate ERA plate. The ERA can destroy or blow of course most projectiles with ease. Even though the armour is close to invincible it comes at a very heavy price.
Auto-Loader:
The Loki's auto-loader replaces the manual loading styles used for ages by all nations. The auto-laoder is a simple cylinder system. The cylinder rotates like a revolver, then the loading arm pushes a shell into the firing chamber where it is then fired. The cylinder is then rotated to the next shell. The quick-loader carries up to 12 rounds and when they are in need of a reloading, the shells are pushed into the cylinder from another circle clip. The current system is up to twenty-five percent quicker than the older cylinder reloader. Smooth Move mecahnisms have increased the firing speed. Computers track all of the data about the reloader, current stages, ammunition left and other vitals.
Counter-Arms:
Counter Arms of the Loki include: mortar system, grenade launche, smoke-screen system, and a laser scanning defence network. The 80MM mortar is in the back of the tank and is used for longer range light artillery, it is fed from a spring loaded side clip allowing for automatic fire. The grenade system is moutned in the front of the tank and it is a 10 tube, 20MM metal storm style system, the grenades can be explosive, armour piercing, smoke, aerosal and eahc tube contains five grenades. The grenade system doubles as a smoke screen layer and the grenade boxes can rotate a small bit. The laser scanning defence network uses an aerosal ejector to project the lasers to the sight of the commander.
Shells:
The Jager Panzer One can use a wide variety of shells for various weapons to do different jobs. The shells range from SCRAM-JET rounds to tracer rounds for a machine gun.
Large Calibre:
The Scram-Jet Depleted Uranium Discarding Round Sabot Detonation Shell is basically a uranium sabot, surrounded with a micro-layer of ERA that when an ERA explosion is detected reacts hopefully allowing the shell to stay on its planned course. The sabot can penetrate most armour like a DU shell. Other shells listed below.
SCRAM-JET Shell
Discarding Round Sabot Shell
High Explosive Anti Tank Shell
Depleted Uranium Penetrator Shell
Spread-Shot Shell
Tungsten Penetrator Shell
Small Calibre:
Armour Piercing Shell
Standard Hollow Tip Shell
Tracer Shell
Incendirary Shell
CIWS:
The Lexan CIWS serves an anti-projectile and anti-infantry weapon. The system uses a high-powered air blast to launch it out of the barrel. The system can follow any of the tanks main sensors, and it has its own thermal imaging system along with a basic millimetric wave radar to keep track of all projectiles. The systems explosive is powerful enough to take out light infantry, and even anti-tank missile systems. Being about the size of the laser pod it is about the same looking. It also confuzes the enemies what is the CIWS and what is the laser system, either way, together they can stop up to six projectiles at once. It uses an explosive device that is a powerful compact plastic explosive and explodes when within a certain range, or on contact, whatever comes first.
Other:
The Loki has computer controled pod of three lasers. The lasers are capable to track incoming missiles and then predict the path. The laser pod then selects one of the three lasers to "burn" the missile. The missile will explode and not damage the tank as much as it would have. The crew compartment has room for 6 clips for the W-3[P90 compliant] and three W-3s[P90 compliant]. The treads are one in five chances of being cleeted, the rest are rubber, making it easy to use on roads. The tread is over 30 feet long and not rather hard to maintain. The treads are over 25CM wide and make it easy to turn, yet displace the weight properly.

The massive tank sat behind a metal shield. As the Titan Armour executives came in to begin the exhibit. They waited for reporters and other visitors to come in and fill the room, as the room began to fill, the executives pressed a button. The shield wall lifted up into the ceiling, like a garage door. At that the massive 82.4 ton vehicle started it's engine, a tremendous roar broke out through the room as the tank sat still, but exhaust covered the room. Cameras flashed from reporters and other viewers. The tank's specifications were released in little detail but the pamphlets that were handed out had pictures, and simple specifications to keep to reporters satisfied, it included pictures of the show model on testing[no external weapons].

Of course the Loki was just demonstrating new technology for the other people at the conference, no sales would be allowed for at least five years. The Afrikaan Vanheer ZZ was testing the vehicle in combat in the various fronts. The Jagerpanzerkampfwagen 1 Loki was an attempt to be the hotspot of the show.
The Macabees
06-03-2005, 17:10
The Macabees will soon arrive with their extremely expensive, and very contreversial, main battle tank which they themselves want to get rid of.
[OOC: Just a few OOC quivers -
I've heard all of your arguments, do not reiterate them...I've gone over everything on my tank with a few experts in the field, including the infamous AP Physics teacher, and although, yes very expensive, I don't hold the same massive stockpiles of tanks that other nations do.]

The Armor:
The armor is composed of a diamond helix bonded through double carbon bonds and other ADBOND designs around and through a buckyball matrix, layered in 240 nano-meter strips. This is covered by the Indium/Osmium-Germanium mix 2nd Gen Supercooled Coil, which was stolen off an Iscariot VIII a while back. They are filled with supercooled liquid Xenon and when a round impacts, the liquid gasses out to counter the heat while the metal coil itself is used as a heat conductor to dissipate the attack it will render that portion of the coil useless but should still enable it to work on other parts of the tank. Especially good against HEAT. Finally there is a thick layer of NxRA Ablative Armor Blocks, up to 14cm in some places. This provides up to an additional 1000mm RHA, for a total of up to 5500mm RHA. (max. real thickness 200mm). However, the central differences between the Spanish buckyball matrix and the composites of the armor is the type of bondage between the diamond helix, allowing for a stronger chemical bonding, meaning the armor RHA will be a tad stronger. The ADBOND (ADvanced BOND) is a third generation single crystal superalloy bond. This primary armor is further reinforced by a ceramic composite bulk between it and a DUEIS plate, which gives it a final 7,000mm of armor. This final layer is coupled by a layer of NxRA armor which gives it the final RHA value of 8,500mm, all for a real value of some 800mm.
In a final insulated layer under this above a MEXAS armor layer will be employed, measuring twenty inches thick, which gives it an RHA value of over 300mms, giving the tank a total RHA value of some 9,000mms.
MEXAS density is ~1.7g/cc and reactive elements are reported in the construction with a strenght of 2.5 GPa, not many materials are that strong but Boron Carbide could fit the bill.
B4C has a mass of 2.55g/cc and ME vs shaped charges of ~ 4.0...leading to a space effectiveness of ~ 1.3.
Now a mixture of CaCO/GAP and B4C should have a density of 1.7-1.8 g/cc [2.55g/cc+1.0g/cc ÷2]. Some thing with the density of CaCO/Gap should have an effectiveness of ~ 0.7 [space effectiveness] so a average of B4C & CaCO/GAP should be ~ 1.0 spaced effectiveness...
The ME should be 7.83/1.7= 4.6.
But the CaCO/GAP is reactive and generates a considerable improvement in effectivenes because this reactive forces the steel plates apart...using the VM-11 paper as a guide the ME of steel foam is ~ 3.3 while the value for steel CaCO/GAP is ~ 10.0...meaning this reactivity tripled the effectiveness of the sandwich...
If this same reactivity is applied to the above B4C & CaCO/GAP sandwich we end up with ~ 14:1 Me.
Now in this paper there were reactive elements that were tested with thin explosive layers to enhance the bulging effect on the outer steel plates...these ranged from 4-6 times the base values and if these super reactive forces are applied to the MEXAS model thats 4.6 x 4-6 or ME of 18:1 -28:1.
The paper showed that MEXAS @ 15° offers as much protection as ERA @ 60-70°. If you take Blazer this is two 2-3mm steel plates and a couple of mm of explosives [density ~ 1.8g/cc?]...any way thats ~ 6mm steel mass @ 60-70° or 12-18mm steel...the ME of these ERAs are reported to be ~ 20:1 meaning this resistance is ~ 240-350mm. Thus MEXAS with a steel mass of ~ 7mm is as effective as >250mm RHAe or a ME of 36:1!!!!
Heres the crunch...studies of bulging plates show that plate speed is the key. Well if the above chemical reactive forces can 'bulge' a plate sufficently to tripple quadruple its effectiveness , image how effective they would be on a small ceramic nugget? Rosenberg and Dekel wrote several papers on the parameters of this bulging prossess...it was clear that if you increases the interlayer or reduced the thickness of the outer steel plate [mass], the plate bulging velocity shot up [going from 200-800m/s in some cases].
Could be that instead of tripple its 6-8 times the ME against shaped charges? That would be an ME of ~ 32-37 .
Shortstop:
The Shortstop Electronic Protection System (SEPS) is an RF Proximity Fuze counter measure. The Shortstop battlefield electronic countermeasures system is capable of prematurely detonating incoming artillery and mortar rounds. It counters the threat of RF Proximity Fuzed munitions by causing them to prefunction, to protect friendly ground troops, vehicles, structures, and other equipment under fire.
The SHORTSTOP system was originally produced as a Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) product in support of Desert Storm. A request for information (RFI) was received from ARCENT addressing available countermeasures for indirect fire munitions utilizing proximity fuzes; such as those found in artillery, mortar, and rocket munitions. Whittaker Corp. in Simi Valley, CA built the system for PEO-IEW during the Gulf War in response to the artillery threat posed by the Iraqis, but the war ended before Shortstop could be deployed. The system could reduce casualties to ground troops by as much as 50 percent during the initial stages of an enemy attack.
These prototype systems were subjected to a minimal amount of environmental testing in preparation for deployment. After Desert Storm, the system was subjected to extensive live fire testing in the desert at Yuma Proving Grounds and evaluated by the TRADOC Analysis Command (TRAC) and the Dismounted Battlespace Battle Lab. The SHORTSTOP, AN/VLQ -9 or -10, systems demonstrated, in testing, the ability to significantly enhance survivability of troops and high value assets from indirect fire, proximity fuzed munitions. Reports of more than 5,000 live artillery and mortar round firings against Shortstop in tests at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz., indicate that the system is 100 percent effective against selected weapons. The test rounds were fired singly and in barrages, with none reaching their intended target, test officials reported.
The prototypes were deployed for a limited period of time in Bosnia and were returned to contingency stock in 1997. To meet urgent operational requirements for deployed forces, the 3rd Army Commander on 11 Feb 98 requested 12 Shortstop Electronic Countermeasure Systems. These systems were readily available as a near term loan that only required funding to train operators and purchase some fielding and maintenance related items. HQDA approved the release for immediate deployment, requesting AMC execute the action that was subsequently completed by CECOM's Project Manager for Firefinder. The QRO supported delivery and fielding of these systems by coordinating the necessary arrangements for deployment of a two-man New Equipment Training Team (NETT) from CECOM. The NETT departed on 25 Feb 1998 with the equipment (acting as couriers) on a C-5 Cargo flight out of Dover AFB. The SHORTSTOP system training, checkout and positioning was completed by the CECOM NETT 20 March 1998.
Packaged in a suitcase-size case and fitted with a small multi-directional antenna, the Shortstop system can be activated and operational within seconds. Shortstop's passive electronics and operational features make it impervious to detection by enemy signal-intelligence sensors. In the near future, Shortstop will shrink in size, down to 25 pounds. Whittaker is currently under contract to build three new, smaller versions: manpack and vehicle units, as well as a stand-alone unit.
Full Spectrum Active Protection Close-In Shield
FCLAS is comprised of a sensor and short range grenade launcher, loaded with special fragmentation grenades with delay fuses set to intercept the incoming threat at a range of approx. 5 meters from the protected vehicle. The actual initiation of the explosive charge is triggered by a side looking RF proximity fuse which senses the incoming projectile as it passes nearby. The explosion forms a vertical, doughnut shaped fragmentation effect that kills the passing threat but does not effect the protected vehicle. The system's target weight is 140 kg., to enable deployment on light vehicles. Each grenade is equipped with a forward looking radar mounted on the exposed tip of the grenade. Each of the FCLAS munitions has such an integrated radar, which forms a complete sensor, monitoring a protective hemisphere around and above the vehicle. The Army hopes to get a prototype system of FCLAS for testing in 2004 and an operational system, which could protect against RPG threats, deployed with Bradley, Stryker and Humvee
Anti-Missile Defenses
Other than the MEXAS addition the refit drops the MetalStorm gun and is instead using the DREAD gun:
DREAD - ball firing gun -
What is the DREAD, really? How does it work? In a sentence, the DREAD is an electrically-powered centrifuge weapon, or centrifuge "gun". So, instead of using self-contained cartridges containing powdered propellant (gunpowder), the DREAD's ammunition will be .308 and .50 caliber round metal balls (steel, tungsten, tungsten carbide, ceramic-coated tungsten, etc...) that will be literally spun out of the weapon at speeds as high as 8000 fps (give or take a few hundred feet-per-second) at rather extreme rpm's, striking their targets with overwhelming and devastating firepower. We're talking about total target saturation, here, folks. All this, of course, makes the DREAD revolutionary in the literal sense, as well as the conceptual one.
According to the DREAD Advantages Sheet, "unlike conventional weapons that deliver a bullet to the target in intervals of about 180 feet, the DREAD's rounds will arrive only 30 thousandths of an inch apart (1/32nd of an inch apart), thereby presenting substantially more mass to the target in much less time than previously possible." This mass can be delivered to the target in 10-round bursts, or the DREAD can be programmed to deliver as many rounds as you want, per trigger-pull. Of course, the operator can just as easily set the DREAD to fire on full-auto, with no burst limiter. On that setting, the number of projectiles sent down range per trigger-pull will rely on the operator’s trigger control. Even then, every round is still going right into the target. You see, the DREAD's not just accurate, it's also recoilless. No recoil. None. So, every "fired" round is going right where you aim it.
http://defensereview.com/dad/DREAD%20Brochure_Page1_Trinamic%20Technologies,%20LLC.jpg
The only thing the DREAD's operator will really have to worry about is running out of ammo, which isn’t likely. Any reasonably skilled gunner (Humvee, APC, Apache attack helicopter, etc.--doesn't matter) should be able to avoid running through all 50,000 (or more) rounds of .308 Cal. or 10,000 (or more) rounds of .50 Cal. ammo prematurely, especially when he or she can dial down the DREAD's cyclic rate to 5,000 rpm or slower, if necesssary. Even if it becomes necessary to increase the DREAD's magazine capacity to upwards of 100,000 rounds (.308 Cal.) or 20,0000 rounds (.50 Cal.), and run the weapon all day and all night for weeks on end, this will have absolutely no effect whatsoever (positive or negative) on the reliability or durability of the weapon system. The DREAD is both heatless and frictionless, and doesn’t generate any high pressures. So, there’s virtually no wear and tear on the system, no matter how many rounds are fired through it back-to-back, even if it's run constantly on full-auto at 120,000 rpm, the whole time.
Here's the kicker: because it's electrically powered and doesn't use any powdered propellant for it's operation, the DREAD Centrifuge Weapon is virtually silent (no sound signature), except for the supersonic "crack" of the metal balls breaking the sound barrier when they're launched. This makes the direction that the rounds are coming from, and their point of origin (firing source), very difficult for enemy forces to identify. It also allows the operator to communicate easily with his team, or with his command structure, while he's still firing on the enemy (with the DREAD). With the DREAD, he won't have to fight to communicate over his own weapon's firing report. And, since the gun doesn't generate any muzzle flash or heat (it's heatless and frictionless, remember?), it doesn't produce any flash signature or heat signature. So, identifying the gun itself with IR (infrared) sensors will be impossible. The vehicle that the DREAD is mounted on is the only thing that will display a heat signature. That leaves you with a difficult-to-detect/locate weapon with a virtually endless suppy of ammo. Even if the DREAD-equipped vehicle does get identified and fired upon by the enemy, the risk of a catastrophic explosion from a bullet strike on the ammunition supply is zero, because the DREAD’s ammunition doesn’t contain any propellant. There’s no gunpowder onboard to blow up. That just leaves the gas tank (vehicle’s). Nothing’s foolproof.
More Info On DREAD
The Weapon
Imagine a gun with no recoil, no sound, no heat, no gunpowder, no visible firing signature (muzzle flash), and no stoppages or jams of any kind. Now imagine that this gun could fire .308 caliber and .50 caliber metal projectiles accurately at up to 8,000 fps (feet-per-second), featured an infinitely variable/programmable cyclic rate-of-fire (as high as 120,000 rounds-per-minute), and were capable of laying down a 360-degree field of fire. What if you could mount this weapon on any military Humvee (HMMWV), any helicopter/gunship, any armored personnel carrier (APC), and any other vehicle for which the technology were applicable?
That would really be something, wouldn't it? Some of you might be wondering, "how big would it be", or "how much would it weigh"? Others might want to know what it's ammunition capacity would be. These are all good questions, assuming of course that a weapon like this were actually possible.
According to its inventor, not only is it possible, it’s already happened. An updated version of the weapon will be available soon. It will arrive in the form of a...
tactically-configured pre-production anti-personnel weapon firing .308 caliber projectiles (accurately) at 2,500-3000 fps, at a variable/programmable cyclic rate of 5,000-120,000 rpm (rounds-per-minute). The weapon's designer/inventor has informed DefRev that future versions of the weapon will be capable of achieving projectile velocities in the 5,000-8,000 fps range with no difficulty. The technology already exists.
The weapon itself is called the DREAD, or Multiple Projectile Delivery System (MPDS), and it may just be the most revolutionary infantry weapon system concept that DefenseReview has EVER come across.
The DREAD Weapon System is the brainchild of weapons designer/inventor Charles St. George. It will be 40 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 3 inches high (20 inches high with the pintel swivel mount). It will be comprised of only 30 component parts, and will have an empty weight of only 28 pounds. That's right, 28 pounds. The weapon will be capable of rotating 360 degrees and enjoy the same elevation and declination capabilities of any conventional vehicle-mounted gun/weapon.
The first generation DREAD (production version), derived from the tactically-configured pre-production weapon, will most likely be a ground vehicle-mounted anti-personnel weapon. Military Humvees (HMMV's) and other ground vehicles (including Chevy Suburbans) equipped with the DREAD will enjoy magazine capacities of at least 50,000 rounds of .308 Cal., or 10,000 rounds of .50 Cal. ammo.
But, what is the DREAD, really? We're talking about total target saturation, here.
One of the ammunition types the DREAD will be delivering downrange is the "Collision Cluster Round", or "CCR", that will be used to penetrate hard targets. The Collision Cluster Round (CCR) is explained in more detail on the munitions page of the DREAD Technology White Paper (links below). The DREAD Advantages Sheet also lists all the other advantages that the DREAD Weapon System enjoys over conventional firearms.
And, all this from a weapon that doesn't jam. Remember how at the beginning of the article I wrote “no stoppages or jams”? The DREAD won't jam because, according to its inventor, it can’t jam. The DREAD's operating and feeding mechanisms simply don’t allow for stoppages or jams to occur. It thus follows that the DREAD Centrifuge Weapon will be the most reliable metallic projectile launcher/ballistic device on the planet. DefRev is not at liberty to publish exactly why the DREAD can’t jam, since Mr. St. George hasn’t given us permission to describe the gun’s operating and feeding mechanisms in any detail.
There's more. Since the DREAD/MPDS (Multiple Projectile Delivery System) is a centrifuge weapon, projectile velocity can be adjusted instantly back and forth between lethal and less-lethal/non-lethal modes. This means it can be utilized just as effectively for embassy security and peacekeeping roles. As an embassy security weapon, the less-lethal/non lethal mode would most likely be the way to go, in most cases. Less-lethal is usually adequate for any crowd control or riot control situations. However, let’s say the crowd starts storming the gates, and now presents a lethal threat to the occupants inside. Well, just pull your Marines inside, switch your remotely-operated battery of DREAD's on over to lethal mode, and make survival above ground impossible for anyone outside the embassy. No one gets in. Same thing goes for military base security. Remote DREAD Centrifuge Gun Pods can be outfitted with heat and motion sensors, and left in unmanned areas. These remote pods can be either human-operated, or pre-programmed with both less-lethal/non-lethal and lethal protocols that will function automatically and not even require human operation. Mobile robotic platforms, including remote-controlled Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicles (UGCV's), could also be outfitted with DREAD systems. And, the list goes on. The technology application possibilities/potential uses are virtually endless.
Look out, DREAD's comin'.

Anti-Mine Warfare
As for anti-mine warfare:
The system, called Zeus-HLONS (Laser Ordnance Neutralization System), uses an industrial solid state laser, normally used to cut metal, but can also ignite explosives up to 300 meters away. Normally, engineers have to approach such munitions (shells, cluster bombs aircraft bombs) or roadside bombs, place explosives next to it, then move away, trailing a detonator wire behind them, and then set off the explosive to destroy the bomb or unexploded munitions. Using the Zeus laser is a lot cheaper (a few cents per laser shot) and safer than the traditional method.
Zeus is particularly useful when you have an area with a lot of unexploded munitions just lying about. The munitions are often unstable, meaning that just picking them up could set them off. The Zeus system can be fired up to 2,000 times a day. Last year, a Zeus-HLONS was sent to Afghanistan for six months last year, where it destroyed 200 items, including 51 in one 100 minute period.
The Engine
The Muwatallis main battle tank uses breakthrough fuel cell technology, introducing a compact next-generation fuel cell stack that dilivers higher performance with increased range and fuel effieciency, and is designed to operate at temperatures as low as -50 degrees celcius. Cold weather operation is one of the most significant technical barriers to the mass-market application of fuel cell technology. Using the Ultra-Capacitor originally designed by Honda the fuel cell now has a supplementary power source to the main power source - the fuel cell stack - for more powerful preformace under varios driving conditions.
The fuel tank is larger than the conventional fuel cell tank on a normal car, which gives this massive behemoth a powerful velocity of 40kph, for a range of three hundred kilometers. It has a ten gear transmission to avoid over taxing the transmission which gives it a longer life time on the battlefield, avoiding freqent breakdowns.
Of course, the supply vehicles, need to be specialized to refuel the tank. For every twenty tanks a five hundred thousand dollar truck needs to be built which converts solar energy, as well as hydrogen and natural gas, into fuel through a purifier and inverter.
However, this technology makes the tank engine noise null, and provides for quieter tanks. The only thing an infantryman would hear would be the tank treads, and even those can be made quieter. A new age for a tank has come!
The Main Gun and Turret
The gun in use a 155mm ETC gun with the internal "R" rings which is just thousands of springs nanometers in length that cut down on recoil and muzzle flash making the gun much more effective.
To make the turret turn quicker the turret and the chassis are divided in two by a central gyro circular sheet of composite metals, using McPhearson strut like bars, interwoven in springs (much like the shocks on your cars) and then smaller gyrating bars, to make the movement hydraulic, consequently, making it much faster.

As the Dat' Pizzdy representatives arrived, they were pointed over to where the DDI representatives were errecting the M/ST-29 exhibit. They'd set up a number of flat panel screens with demo videos of the tank single handedly obliterating an entire enemy company in under a minute using its freakishly powerfull weapons and targetting systems. Also there was one of the first crews to be issued the vehicle (which had been in service with a number of armies for quite some time) to tell any potential customers the power this vehicle posessess first hand. Finally, they had an actual M-29A1 sitting parked with the crew standing around. Suddenly, the crew piled into their vehicle, and the engine whirred to life, making a futuristic sounding start up. The turret began to rotate, as well as the miniturreted 25mm centrifuge gun, making a hoard of reporters storm the exhibit and bombard the representatives with questions.

The ST-29 Next Generation Battle Tank (M-29A1 'Arbiter' Doomingsland designation), a cooperative design between the nations of Soviet Bloc and Doomingsland, was designed not as a battle tank, not as an infantry support system, but as a local area ground superiority armored fighting platform. Simply put, this incredible vehicle will kick your ass without compassion, it will decimate anything it faces, anything that comes across its fire control system, anything that dares to challenge the immense power it has confined within itself. From its massive electro-thermal main cannon to its auxiliary fire support system, this tank can easily breeze past any type of opposition while its armor and defensive suite repels any enemy attack with a sincere vengeance. The direct neural interface system creates a perfect mating of man and machine, creating the ultimate killing machine, unmatched by anything anyone else can provide.
Possessive of such features as its near-impenetrable armor and defense system to its awe-inspiring weapons load-out, the ST-29 is an armored vehicle with no equal. Incredible upgrades in technology have elevated this tank above the rest, above its own brethren, its own flesh-and-blood, the ST-21. The ST-21 is a child's plaything compared to the ST-29, a true next generation battle tank.
Internal Design
The internal design is about as revolutionary as this entire tank, utilizing an attack helicopter-type format. Due to the presence of the DNI and an auto-loader, the conventional internal turret design has been scrapped in favor of a tandem type 'cockpit' much like an attack helicopter. The commander sits on top with access to the commanders periscope systems and other targetting and tracking systems while the gunner sits below with weapons sights, tracking and targetting systems, and weapons systems. Both can operate the systems with the DNI, however, auxiliary controls are present for manual operation. Directly above the commander is his access hatch. Above and to the left of the gunner's position (the 'cockpit' is situationed on the right side of the turret), is the gunner's access hatch, which as a 7.62mm anti-personnel machine gun for anti-personnel applications.
All tank ammunition is in an armored storage box, as is the entire main gun system (since its seperate from the crew compartment). Freon systems are present to extinguish any fires.
Propulsion
The ST-29 uses a hybrid powerplant to provide propulsion and power to its vast amount of systems. Initially an MVE-8901-EXA1 900 horsepower diesel engine provides general power, however it is assisted by the Electric Assist System (EAS) which is a hybrid Fuel Cell/Battery system. The hydrogen fuel cells recharge the batteries (or directly assist the engine) and the batteries store energy as well as assist the engine. Also recharging the batteries are a series of electric generators attached to the non-driving road wheels, as the wheel spins from movement, the generator creates electrical energy, storing it in the batteries.
The drive train is an electrically fired hydrostatic transmission system using electrically operated pumps to regulate hydraulic flow to the hydrostatic transmission. This allows the vehicle a smooth acceleration, smooth deceleration, and an infinitely variable speed. An emergency mechanical linkage with six forward gears and two reverse (all 'low-gear' for improved traction and power/performance [no speed]) is present and can be used in situations where the electrical system fails or when the electrical system is overcome (such as a really nasty mudhole). Due to the nature of the drive system, the vehicle is fairly fuel efficient, getting about 4.5 miles per gallon.
Top road speed: 54 miles per hour
Top off-road speed: 45 miles per hour
An added plus to this system is the fact the diesel motor can be disengaged and the tank can drive under battery and fuel cell power, meaning its completely silent.
Armor
The armor of the ST-29 is incredible, a perfect blend of Doomingsland and Soviet Bloc technology, that provides a near-impenetrable level of defense capable of preventing the most powerful tank cannon rounds and missiles access to the core of this awesome fighting machine.
Beginning with the outside is the AERA-II 3rd Gen. ERA system. The AERA-II is the most advanced reactive armor the ARSB can provide. The AERA-II works by having the primary layer ignite outwards with the second layer following behind after a certain time-delay nearly doubling the effectiveness of the system (especially against kinetic and saboted rounds). The primary layer ignites when a proximity sensor/network detects an object with projectile-like movement coming towards the tank, then using an onboard supercomputer it quickly calculates the variables of tank speed, tank heading, projectile speed, projectile heading, wind, weather and projectile altitude to determine where the projectile is to hit... Upon finishing the calculations (with plenty of seconds to spare before the round hits), the computer activates a 2-4 ERA block area (made of primary layers) to ignite at a set time with the second layer following after. An auxilary system, although not as effective, works to ignite the ERA blocks upon contact with a high-speed projectile...
The conventional layer(by our standards) begins after the AERA-II. The initial layer of the conventional armor is composed of a diamond helix bonded through double carbon bonds and other ADBOND designs around and through a buckyball matrix, layered in 240 nano-meter strips. This is further enhanced by a layer composed of a slanted titanium honeycomb layer (which gives it incredible kinetic energy absorbant powers). Behind this is a layer of solid steel which surrounds a coarse ceramics, kevlar, boronated plastic bond (the boronated plastic absorbs radiation). A final thick layer of boronated plastics and carbon elements protect the crew from radiation.
A tertiary layer is a large alunimum tank (well, not large) roughly about an inch and a quarter thick that contains electrolytic fluid (which changes its viscosity when hit with an electric shock). When a round is detected coming towards the vehicle, an electric firing system fires an electrical pulse towards the electrodes protruding into the fluid across each individual tank (there are a series of these tanks, each covering different portiosn). This means, that when a round impacts and penetrates the primary layer, it will hit the gel-like liquid and then it will harden (well, thicken) and spread the energy across the tank, reducing its effectiveness. To prevent spillage, each tank is cordoned off with metal strips to prevent one hit from draining an entire tank. This entire system is the Liquid-Based Passive Defense System (LBPDS) or Electrolytic Fluid Defense System (EFDS). The tanks are present on the front glacis, turret sides, turret front, turret rear, turret top, vehicle rear, and vehicle sides.
Instead of using the AERA-II to defend from top-attack threats, the ST-29 uses the Pilum Close-in Anti Missile Defense System (CAMD) provided by Doomingsland. The Pilum consists of 35 packets of 6mm, high velocity, armor piercing flechettes. Each packet contains 2300 flechettes and their propellant. When the computer in the Pilum detects incoming missiles by utilizing some of the same systems used by the AMRRS and AATDS, it fires off sections of the appropriate packet at it, showering the missile with the flechettes, which will eliminate the missile completely, or detonating it prematurely, with minimal, if any damage to the vehicle. The Pilum system is mounted on top of the armor of the tank, making for a nearly impenatrable screen that hostile missiles would some how have to bypass. However, the system is disabled when the commanders hatch or gunners hatch are open to prevent potential lethal effects.
Close-In Defense and Active Countermeasure Systems
The ST-29 carries the Next Generation Armored Vehicle Missile Defense Suite, which is a system composed of both Soviet Bloc and Doomingsland-designed technology. The system completely enhances the vehicle's defensive capabilities and increases its survivability exponentially.
The first system is the Advanced Airborne Threat Defense System (AATDS) which is a series of three weapons mounts, one to the rear of the turret and the other two mounted in recessed portions of the forward area of the turret. Each AATDS turret is composed of a bank of three 'armored centrifuges' (the armor is light and basically only protects against shrapnel or ricocheting rounds). These three centrifuges are located on 360 degree traversing turntable with three hydraulic actuators which allow the three 'centrifuges' to move up or down a number of degrees. The first centrifuge covers an area from -15 degrees to +30; the second centrifuge covers from +20 to +80; the third covers from +60 to +120 degrees. This allows for each system to engage ground level targets, line of sight missiles, and top-attack missiles. Each turret is faced to allow for full overlapping and defensive abilities. Each AATDS 'centrifuge gun' is a centrifuge, although it fires conventional rounds in an arc pattern (since it spins it releases the rounds to cover an arc of space) at incredibly high rates of fire (up to 120,000 rpm). The projectiles used are the 6.5mm ball ammunition used by conventional infantry forces. No propellant is needed but the ammunition fired is capable of velocities as high as 8000 feet per second, and are fired so close together that they are only 1/32nd of an inch apart, meaning complete and utter target saturation. Employed as a close in defense system, this system is incredibly effective. The AATDS can also be used against infantry and is tied into the 'Active Engagement Suite', which is a series of systems designed to actively engage opposing forces that have fired on the tank (i.e. ATGM crews). Each AATDS turret has its own thermal imager, however all weapons systems are tied into the 'Integral Fire Control Suite' which is a series of threat detection systems and fire control systems such as thermal imagers, electro-optical, millimetric radar receivers and emitters, light detection and randing (LIDAR), laser detection and ranging (LADAR), and low-light optics.
In addition to this, it also has an anti-missile rapid response system (AMRRS), which makes use of all auxilary weaponry systems (commanders weapon, gunners weapon, any other weapons, unless in use by crew) to rapidly engage ATGM crews. It uses the same systems used by the AATDS to detect the missile, but instead of firing at the missile, it calculates the point of origin of the launch, and quickly lays down suppressive fire on that area. This especially effective against wire guided weapons. The system is also tied into the JD-3AE (active engagement) to allow for even more accurate fire against the crews of laser guided weapons.
And finally, it features the JD-3AE integrated laser rangefinder/warning/self-defence/missile response device. This system uses a high-powered laser to directly attack the enemy weapon's optics and gunner, potentially disabling the weapons system or the operator. This latest version of the JD-3 has a built in 25mm airburst grenade launcher, similar to the OICW concept weapon. Using the IFCS (Integral Fire Control Suite) and the JD-3AE laser rangefinder, the grenade launcher takes data gathered from the range finding system to calculate a proper aiming tragectory, then launches several HE grenades which would burst over the heads of the hostile crew. The JD-3AE us also tied into the AMRRS, allowing for multiple weapons to be brought to bear on a hostile ATGM crew. This allows for the enemy gunner to be engaged as soon as the laser system responds.
The system includes a laser warning receiver (LWR - the dome-shaped device on the turret roof behind the commander's position), that warns the crew that their tank is being illuminated by an enemy range-finding or weapon-guidance laser. The turret of the tank can then be traversed to face the direction of the enemy threat, and the laser self-defence weapon (LSDW - the box-shaped device on the turret roof behind the gunner's position), can be employed against the source of the enemy laser.
The procedure of the laser weapon would first use a low-powered beam to locate the optics of the enemy weapon. Once the enemy weapon was located, the power level of the laser would be immediately and dramatically increased. Such an attack would disable the guidance optics of the enemy weapon and/or damage the eyesight of the enemy gunner. This also allows for the 25mm grenade launcher to be employed against the missile crew.
The final active defense system is the ARENA Mk. III. This system uses a mini-turreted microwave emitter as its active missile defense system and was jointly developed by both Doomingsland and Soviet Bloc, although its roots lie in the aircraft mounted AFR/SIRR microwave emission system. The emitter uses microwaves to fry an incoming missile's electronics at ranges of several hundred meters, rendering the missile useless and likely either causing it to crash or detonate prematurely.
Primary Armament
This is where the ST-29 trully reigns supreme, from its death-inducing main cannon to its comparably fearsome auxilary systems, this tank is armed like no other, and armed to the point that any enemy it faces will be scared shit-less. There is no way an enemy will survive a one on one engagement with one of these, their systems will be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of firepower thrown at them. Your best bet against an ST-29? Surrender because there is no way in hell you'll survive otherwhise. Good luck on making the correct decision.
The ST-29s primary armament is the 145 mm SB-NTC Electro-Thermal cannon. With the SB-NTC-145, the projectile is loaded into the barrel, behind which there is a "propellant", which is a dot of light metal (solid or liquid). A powerful electromagnetic force is applied to the metal, which causes its atoms to "switch" directions. This happens so violently that the metal turns to plasma, and this expanding gas then drives the projectile forward. Since the cannon is built into a turret, it can rotate 360-degrees and can aim upwards 32 degrees and -7 degrees. Around the firing mechanism and the barrel is enclosed in the SB-AHAS Heat-absorbing and dissipating shroud which absorbs the heat and dissipates it over a wide area. This cannon can easily destroy most main battle tanks at ranges out to 5 miles with diminishing effects thereafter (less effective, less damage).
The cannon is stabilised on double axis' and can fire on the move.
Ammunition- Can effectively use any type of ammunition (in 145mm) as long as the round's own propellant (and casing) is removed (this includes ball-type, discarding sabot, HE, DU, tungsten, etc.). The cannon also fires barrel-fired ATGMs or other missiles.
Next Generation Auto-Loader
The ST-29 employs the Doomingsland-designed autoloader, given an ARSB designation of TL-M-90A. The autoloader works with a duel feed system going into a mechanism going into the breech of the gun. There are two belts of ammunition going into the mechanism. This would allow for the round to be dropped right behind the breech at virtualy any angle, as it follows the cannon up and down, and a hydrolic arm would push the round in. An electronic system, the Advanced Target Designation and Aquisition System (ATDAS) allows for the gunner or commander to pre-designate hostile units for destruction using a thermal tracking system. In addition to this, an intervehicle communication system allows for other tanks to see which hostile units are already designated for destruction, as to allow them to more evenly spread their fire and conserve ammunition. This would allow for them to designate the order in which they are engaged, and what type of ammunition is used. In addition to this, an intervehicle communication system allows for other tanks to see which hostile units are already designated for destruction, as to allow them to more evenly spread their fire and conserve ammunition. Once the targets are inputed, the first round would drop in and get slammed forward into the breech. As soon as it was chambered, the following round would drop into the mechanism behind it. As soon as the chambered round was fired, the breech would be opened and the round instantly slammed in, and the process would be repeated, giving it a theoretical rate of fire of around 30 RPM.
Secondary Weaponry
The primary second armament is a triple-barreled rotating 25mm cannon mounted in its own remote-controlled (by commander) mini-turret with its own thermal imager. The cannon is tied into the tank's 'Integral Fire Control Suite', which ties in all offensive/defensive systems into a centrally operated threat detection/targetting system. This allows the cannon to target anything the tank's main gun is tracking or targetting or anything that shows up on detection systems, meaning this cannon can target and annihilate anything seen on the thermal imagers, millimetric radar, LIDAR, LADAR, electro-optical, or low-light optical sensors. Now, this 25mm cannon isn't a conventional weapon as its a centrifuge-type weapon, as mentioned above. Instead of a conventional system, the 25mm cannon fires using a centrifuge-layout with the rotating barrel counter-rotating to the rotation of the centrifuge (therefore reducing wear on the barrel while stabilizing the rounds). The rounds fired are 25mm slugs with no propellant (safer, no noise, no muzzle flash) and are fired at firing rates reaching 120,000 rounds per minute (capable but not likely). The centrifuge's electrical motor is programmable to firing rates from 1000 rounds per minute and up and can program the velocities from 1500 feet per second all the way to 8000 feet per second. Can you say total target saturation? Not to mention the fact that each round exits the barrel only a 1/32nd of an inch behind the round in front of it meaning you fire a quick burst at a tank and you can maybe punch through its armor, imagine the effects on infantry fighting vehicles, light vehicles, helicopters, aircraft, and infantry? Ouch. The mini-turret is also connected to the active missile defense systems and can be used to target missiles, aircraft, or other enemy units (such as ATGM crews). The mini-turret also maintains a 40mm grenade launcher.
The coaxial weapon on the ST-29's primary turret is a 25mm conventional-firing auto-cannon.
Additional weaponry includes a mini-turreted (and gunner or commander remote controlled) 12.7mm machine gun with its own secondary thermal imagers. This system was mainly designed for taking out close threats including infantry, helicopters, or other threats. It can be used in conjunction with the close in defense systems.
The final weaponry includes a crew served 7.62mm anti-personnel machine gun, which can be recessed and covered in its own 'storage' box.
Integrated Modular Side-Turret Weaponry Mount System-
This system is a series of slides and pivot joints to allow for the addition of multiple weapons to the side of the turret, those weapons are as follows:
.50 MG (AA)
Any higher-caliber AA Cannons (up to two on each side)
ATGM missiles
ATGM missile pods
LOSAT (Line of Sight- Anti-Tank)-tubes
Unguided rocket pods
SAM Missile Pods
Sensor equipment
Communications equipment
Rear Turret Weapons System
The RTWS is a bank of weaponry that can be mounted on the rear of the turret. The foremost of these systems is the MGL-56D missile launch system. The system includes an armored 'bank' of a dozen laser-guided munitions. The bank is hydraulically lifted or tilted (its default setting is tilted at a fifty degree angle). If a target is chosen, the gunner illuminates a target with a laser or infrared beacon and fires a missile. The missile locks onto the infrared beacon (which can be set at a certain infrared wavelength [usually towards the end of the infrared spectrum that is hardest to create using flares, heat, etc.]) or laser and maneuvers toward the target, even being able to change course (assuming target is far enough away). The ATGMs fired are a variant of the ATM-7B anti-tank missile with their guidance system replaced with an infrared beacon/laser locator. Some of these missiles are modified to carry grenades (releasing grenades over a target) or a down-ward facing shrapnel round for engaging enemy infantry lines. The laser designators and infrared beacons are located on two small rotating turrets that can be used together or independently to target two different vehicles (commander targetting one, gunner targetting the other) and firing two missiles at the same time.
Also, standard ATGMs can be mounted to the rear of the turret.
SYSTEMS
Without fire control systems, a tank is nothing. The ST-29 has an abundance of inter-connected fire control systems, all working together to make this tank the most advanced tank in the world.
3ADS (ARQ-690)- Integral Fire Control System- This system is a series of infrared, IRST, millimetric wave radars, and flat panel directive wave radar systems designed to give the commander an all-around view of the tank and anything within its viewing range. The system utilizes these modes of detection located in many different 'banks' of sensors which are usually armor protected. The system is connected to a threat identification computer as well as a fire control computer (which is then linked to the AEISCN or Soviet Bloc DefenseNet) giving the commander and gunner the ability to fire on targets while watching targets on the sides and rear (which can be miles away but being detected using another tank's sensors) and even fire on those targets using ATGMs or firing the cannon in a way resembling artillery. This system also works in conjunction with the close in defense systems.
ALMRS/TTAC-09 Mk. V system: Tracks up to 90 enemies and ranks them according to range, heading, threat level, and tank-type to provide best possible firing solution. Also computes MOA and other variables and automatically sets turret and barrel to correct heading (when this feature is engaged) and can fire on up to two targets simultaneously (assuming ATGM's are on their respectable slides). Also tracks and targets enemy targets at up to 500 ft. altitude and up to 30 miles away (Depending on weather conditions, terrain, and other factors).
SB-AFCS-S1 system: This advanced fire control system allows for the ST-29 to engage moving targets while the ST-29 is on the move. The barrel will always remain aimed at target while tank is in motion and will not waiver even over small hills, dips, bumps, and other obstructions. The barrel will always target enemy unit unless commander targets a new target or disengages system. The SB-AFCS-S1 system will continually track all targets and align barrel to fire on the target even if the target is on the move, the barrel will constantly update and move with the target while computing wind, weather, and MOA abilities for the best possible accuracy. The barrel will move on two different axis'. The commander's station is outfitted with nightvision capabilities, infrared capabilities, radar tracking capabilities (if an EW, radar aircraft, or radar station is near and able to send information), and advanced targetting systems. The commander's station is also outfitted with a periscope with nightvision, infrared capabilities, and a computerized screen to locate targets if they are obscured. Coupled with this system is the ALRS (Advanced Laser Range-finder System) which utilizes a laser rangefinder with a triple layer screen with crystals at different angles to scatter any enemy lasers that are attempting to disable the rangefinder. The rangefinder laser passes through a roughly 3mm hole in the screen.
SB-AMWRS-01- Millimetric wave radar
SB-ALDRS-58D - Joint LIDAR/LADAR system with emitters, receivers, and central processing unit.
ARENA Mk. III NEW- The ARENA Mk. III is a revolutionary new system, using a mini-turreted microwave emitter as its active missile defense system. The emitter uses microwaves to fry an incoming missile's electronics at ranges of several hundred meters, rendering the missile useless and likely either causing it to crash or detonate prematurely.
Shtora-3 defense suite: Scrambles enemy laser rangefinder, making it nearly impossible for enemy tank to fire, unless they guess the range. Also scrambles enemy communications systems and tracking systems. Also interferes with enemy laser-based systems and laser-type weapons by using a controlled beam of ultraviolet rays to scatter the laser (communications systems, weapons systems, rangefinder systems).
*Note- The Shtora-3 system can be seen on the very top picture, directly above the cannon, well, at least the emitter portion.*
AEISCN-03: Shares target information with other friendly tanks in the field along with other information, also allows friendly tanks in large numbers to make coordinated attacks through out the battlefield. Also allows friendly tanks to instantly reorganize into new squadrons and divisions for new assaults and also relays all information back to command. This system also checks in every 2 minutes (or shorter; can be adjusted) with GPS and military satellites to update terrain and enemy movements [ARSB satellites aid this and can pinpoint location with an accuracy of 30 feet). Also takes updated information and relays it to the commander's screen which displays all friendly tanks, enemy tanks, standing orders, enemy formations, buildings, objects, and other environmental objects. Coupled with this system is the SB-LRRCS (Long-range Radio communications set) with a range of roughly 450 miles.
NBC System SB-CAP-1 - This NBC system protects against nuclear, biological, and chemical threats as well as seal of the internal areas of the tanks from the outer environment, relying on an SB-AIR-M air recycling and cleaning unit to provide breathable oxygen to the tank's crew.
Periscope systems- Twin periscopes (commander periscope mentioned before)- Gunner periscope is outfitted with infrared technology, night vision tech, and the AEISCN-01 system (which shows enemy units based on satellite and aircraft intelligence or intel from other friendly ground untis). Also, on both periscopes is an active recording/viewable video camera (that can record or display in infrared, low light, night vision, millimetric radar or with computer-added symbols [arrows, boxes; to display locations of enemy units, friendly units, obstacles])
Direct Neural Interface
The DNI-AV (Direct Neural Interface- Armored Vehicle) is a Direct Neural Interface system (originally developed for the VEPR NGCS Infantry Combat System) that allows the crew to operate the tank using their own minds, although auxiliary systems are present to allow for manual operation. Targetting information is transferred directly into the gunner's and commander's own minds, allowing each to target and fire using their own respective systems. A direct feed allows all three crewmembers (driver, gunner, commander) to view all data gathered by the detection systems, allowing the driver to use millimetric radar, thermal imagers, low-light optics, LIDAR/LADAR, electro-optical, etc. to drive the tank and avoid targets while allowing the commander to designate targets in a three dimensional space for the gunner to target and fire on using the main gun. The DNI is a neural implant that intercepts signals from the crew's mind and transfers it directly to a computer system (or vice versa; computer to mind). The system allows the driver to drive and control all facets of the tank's propulsion and driving through his mind, while the two combat crew utilize the system to create a perfect mating of man and machine, creating such a lethal pair that this tank is bound to come out on top against any opponent it faces. This combination of man and machine gives the crew a level of capability that is unmatched, making the ST-29 the perfect killing machine.
Targetting information is gleaned from all active and passive detection systems and organized into easy-to-understand, readable displays in the crew's minds. Each system is seperate and shows each seperate crewmember information specific to their mission. A central computer system takes all data and turns it into three streams (one to each crewmember) which then enter the crewmember's mind directly by stimulating different portions of the brain.
Modular Construction
Its been proven that the more technologically advanced something gets, the more it breaks down. This cannot be helped as there are far too many things that can malfunction. However, the ST-29s designers took this to heart to create a modular tank. Each 'sub-system' is independent of each other and in the event something malfunctions it can be removed within minutes and replaced (providing the correct logistical support is nearby). Its engine is mounted on a sliding mechanism that can slide out and stay suspended in the air (on its rails) and be serviced in that position (giving the repairers the ability to repair anything on the tank and not just the visible portion [as would be on a conventional tank] or in a maintenance shop). The engine compartment was designed to be pulled out with little assistance. Four men can accomplish it. The engine itself is even modular, composed of eight distince 'pieces' which can be easily removed and replaced. The suspension is its own sub-system as is the drive train. The transmission is its own subsystem composed of three modular sections. The turret can be removed with little effort. The commander's section and its computers are all designed for easy replacement as is every other notable feature of this tank.
The average field service time for this tank (a complete field overhaul [in ARSB's standards] is the replacement of the following: engine, transmission, drive-train, track system, ERA panels, and the driver compartment) is now at a record time: 36 minutes. Of course, this is providing that you have the logistical power to do this. If you have little logistical support for an advancing armor group, then don't expect the modularity of this tank to help too much. But if you have strong supply lines, great logistical support, and efficient maintenance personnel, then you'll be able to watch as a burnt out hull of a tank is returned to active duty in a little over half an hour.
Other
The ST-29 maintains an enhanced frame, strenghtened braces, low radar signature (due to absorbant materials coating outer layer of armor), low heat signature (Using SB-AHAS [see SB-NTC cannon]), low visual signature (low height, fairly narrow) for survial systems.
Ergonomical features- Engine based heater (for winter), Central air cooling system or underside-opening vents for fresh air, heated seats, defoggers, dehumidifier (to reduce moisture in air and reduce condensation inside turret), low-noise fans, ergonomically-placed lights
Storage is present for the storage of up to three assault rifles and ammunition.

Origins
- The MCA (Medium Combat Assault) program began in the early days following The Second Great War for a mass production tank to fill the ranks of the armed forces, wat would be capable of matching any contemporary tank on the battlefeild. Now in it's sixth incarnation as the MCA-6C, the MCA program is still going strong, recieving massive ammounts of funding from the government to constantly devlop the next generation. The MCA-6C was devloped over half a decade using the latest in composite fiber technology, as the right metals (Steel, Titanium, Etc.) are scarece in Dostanuot Loj.
Combat History
- The MCA-6C has seen combat in numerous environments, ranging from mountians, desserts and grass lands, to jungles, arctic regions, cities, and everything in between. In all instances of combat, the MCA-6C has proven both reliable and capable of whatever task given it, even to the point of suceeding where the heavier DC-4 tank series have failed.
Armour
- The armour of the MCA-6C is unique in that it contains no metal, yet is incredibly strong. The composite armour is capable of deflecting rounds from contemporary high velocity cannons, such as the Rhinemetal 120mm L-55, as well as dealing with a number of handheld anti-tank weapons. The RHA capabilities of the armour is classified, but is known to be somewhere around or above ten times stronger against penetrating shots then laminated steel of the same thickness.
The forward section of the hull contains the thickest armour, as well the forward half of the sides of the hull. The armour is aranged this way so as to allow the tank to manuver on the battlefeild more effectivly while still presenting the thickest frontal armour to the enemy.
The thick composite armour is decieving in it's weight, the fibers and resign being used are quite light carbon based materials. A recent innovation that has allowed Dostanuot Loj tanks to acheive amazing agility with thick and strong armour.
Mobility
- Mobility is the key to winning ay battle. This is the theory behind the MCA program, an armoured fighting vehicle with the abinily to out-manuver any opponant on the battlefeild. The key to this is the advanced torsion bar suspension system, as well as the high-power drive train (Producing approxemetly 25 horse power per ton).
The vehicle is heald up on seven road wheels, each with it's own independant fluid-torsion bar suspension, which is able to adjust automaticly (Via computer) to the terrain at hand. The tracks themselves, are designed using the same composite material as the armour, and are designed to provide maximum turning speed, as well as performance on soft ground and to attain a high speed.
Armament
- The main armament of the MCA-6C is a Nineveh 105mm Hyper Velocity Cannon. The cannon is a smoothbore weapon, designed to maximise penetrating power of the projectile. Secondary to the main armament is a 7.62mm belt fed machine gun, for close in defence. The commander has a 7.62mm machine gun that he or she can opperate via remote control for close in defence, or air defence of the vehicle.
Four banks of twelve grenade dischargers provide close in defence, and a smoke screen ability. The grenade dischargers are placed in two banks on either side of the main gun, and two banks on the rear sides of the turret.
Systems
- Many of the systems on the MCA-6C are classified by the Dostanuot Loj government. The systems include a central computer to coordinate the systems of the tank, such as the drivrtrain, suspension, and sensors. In addition, the targeting computer has three systems to allow it to track and engage targets, including laser, infared and a miniture forward pointing radar system (Simmilar to a radar gun). Ultimatly targesting is done by eye of the gunner, through a complex optical system.
The commander and driver are equipped with screens connected to carefully placed and armoured cameras on the outside of the vehicle, to allow maximum visibility. The screens provide as much, or more, visibility then the crew would have even with their heads outside of the hatches. In the event of a system failure dissabeling the screens, pariscopes are provided in the contemporary fashion.
Cost per unit: $3,400,000 USD.

IPHA- 'Puma2'
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/puffinwing04/Nationstates/pumambt.jpg
This is the Intelligent Products Heavy Armour - 'Puma2' LBT. It features all the latest in equipment, including revolutionary ideas, and is a reasonable price. This tank was orignally a main battle tank, but it has been stripped down and now is used as a light battle tank.
Main Features:
-Crewless Turret
-Armoured crew pod
-Kaktus ERA
-Missile Pod
We are confident that this tank should suit our LBT requirements for some time to come, it has performed well in all the field tests it undertook.
In Detail:
Sytems:
The puma2 has been fitted with a CACS and diety sytem identical to those on the Pz-4, Pz-5 and Revenant MkIIU. These allow it to operate in line with other systems in the modern army.
Armament:
The specification for the IPHA Puma2 LBT was that it should be able to compete with the latest light tank designs in the NS world, as well as being manoeuvrable and able to fight infantry effectively.
The main gun is a 80mm gas gun, made by Venom Defense. This cannon has twice the muzzle velocity of a normal gun, so is equivalent (in KE terms) to a 160mm normal cannon.
There are no crew in the turret, and are replaced with more ammunition and electronic systems, as well as an autoloader capable of between 8 (sustained) and 14 rounds per minute (max).
This cannon is capable of firing 4 types of round:
-Shaped Metal slugs (AT work)
-HE rounds, good against buildings/infantry
Coaxial with the main cannon, there is a 12.7mm MG, that fires Teflon coated armour piercing rounds, for extra power when firing upon those pesky 'Technicals'.
On the top of the tank there is room for a rack of 2 Stinger or TOW missiles, and a dual 12.7mm MG. These are for targeting helicopters or armoured vehicles as well as infantry. The MG fires partially guided rounds.
There are also two sets of 6 smoke grenade launchers on the turret.
Armour:
The armour is comprised of the super lightweight composite armour, known as LASH-armour. This is very light and tough and has the equivalent of this amount of RHS:
Turret: 1600mm
Glacis: 1200mm
Lower front hull: 1000mm
Hull Side: 400mm
Hull Rear: 150mm
In addition, blocks of Kaktus ERA can be optionally installed on the Glacis plate and turret. The ERA has been proven to snap a 120mm APFS-SABOT in half, due to the slicing motion it employs.
Engine/Performance:
The engine is a tried and tested turbo-diesel, capable of propelling the tank to speeds, on road, of 52mph and on rougher terrain up to 46mph.
This speed is due to the small weight of the tank, only 49 tonnes.
Crew Protection:
The crew are safely encased in an armoured pod inside the hull; this protects them from any internal explosions, for example the ammunition exploding. Hatches that are placed to the rear and to the front of the hull at the top, allow the crew to move in and out. The pod is not completely airtight in the standard version, but the HE (Hazardous Environment) version, as well as the command version (K), can be sealed for up to 1 hour.
Fire control systems are present inside and outside the pod. All tank functions can be carried out without leaving the pod.
Stats:
Crew: 3
Weight: 49 tonnes
Top Speed: 52mph
Armour Max: =1600mm RHS + ERA
Armour Min: =150mm RHS
Armament: 80mm gas gun, 12.7mm Co-axial MG, Dual 12.7mm MG, 2 missiles (either Stinger or TOW), 12 smoke grenade launchers.
Cost (Normal): $8,000,000
(HE): $9,000,000
(K): $10,000,000

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder showing it's fording capabilities.
Note: All above tanks are NOT fitted with the final weapons and technology.
History:
After the failure of the IPHA Puma MBT to acheive decent export sucesses and it's unreliability in service, Venom defense, was contracted to produce a replacement MBT, that performed well as a partner to the admirable and unbeatable Revenant MkII. The tank needed to be as good as or better than the Revenant MkII.
Description:
-CACS/DEITY BATTLEFIELD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder is fitted with the CACS (Computer Aided Control System) designed by Pheonixius. Generation IV – Basic computer navigation of the vehicle, utilising navigational aids, weapon system control, group co-ordination. This means that the system communicates with other CACS systems, generation III or higher, so that navigational data, such as that from radar systems, can be exchanged for better situational awareness. Data can also be sent to Deity systems so that an entire battlefield can be viewed in one location from all the various devices used. 512-bit encryption is used to allow secure transmission between systems. Friend or Foe targeting allows the computer to carry out the warfare almost on its own, identifying enemy units and aiding allied units This is done by communicating with object, and if a friendly signal is detected then it is passed over – if an enemy signal, or no signal is detected then the object will be identified as a target to be destroyed by the system. There is a manual override to allow fire-lock and to do the targeting manually.
The Deity system is a battlefield wide system that takes all the data sent by the CACS and sorts and merges it. It then makes this information available to all systems that can use this data such as CACS, Warrior headsets, PHBVS and other such systems. This means that the tank can display locations of freindly units, as well as enemy units spotted by allies.
-ARMAMENT
The primary weapon of the tank is a 145mm electro-thermal-chemical (ETC) gun, identical to the one that is due to be installed on the Revenant MkIIU.
The projectile is loaded into the barrel, behind which there is a "propellant", which is a dot of light metal (solid or liquid). A powerful electromagnetic force is applied to the metal, which causes its atoms to "switch" directions. This happens so violently that the metal turns to plasma, and this expanding gas then drives the projectile forward. The autoloader on this tank can fire at 15 rounds per minute (sustained) and 20 rounds per minute (theoretical max).
The cannon can rotate 360-degrees and has an elevation of +35 degrees and -10 degrees. The recommended range of the cannon is 4.8 miles with a maximimum of 5.8 miles (not very effective).
The rounds for this gun include: APFSDS, SCRAMjet, HEAT, HE, HESH, 'Balls of fire' rounds (ball bearing and napalm), and ATGM's.
The commander’s weapon on top of the turret is a remotely controlled small gatling gun wiith 8 12.7mm barrels putting out 2000 or 3000 RPM, making it an excellent anti-infantry and anti-helicopter weapon.
The coaxial weapon is a 12.7mm machinegun, specially suited for anti-infantry work.
On top of the turret, there is a small 'pop-up' box, holding two Awe King SAM missiles. Upon detection of enemy aircraft the CACS system pops the box up and fires at the target. When both missiles are used, the box dropps down into the turret and is reloaded. There are only 4 missiles for this feature stored within the tank usually.
In addition, there is an 80mm mortar in the tank, this saves valuable ammunition in a firefight and gives a tob attack capability allowing the tank to fire over obstacles. This is coupled to the CACS system for automatic targetting.
-ARMOUR
The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder uses multiple armour types, including hardened steel, composite, Triada and ASH.
ASH: The first layer (hardened steel) prevents small calibre rounds and fragments penetrating. Then a layer of Hard-Foam slows many shells and will stop HEAT. Then a layer of non-flammable, dense liquid, helps stop Anti-Tank SABOT rounds penetrating. Then some 'secret composites' are used, followed by a layer of steel. This armour is light and very strong.
The ASH is mainly around the front of the hull (Glacis plate and so on) and on the turret. A thin layer is present on the turret roof, providing extra protection against top attack ATGM's.
Triada: This armour is composed of the following layers: the first is a self-healing layer, similar to that in the Triad Armour; the second layer is a thin layer of a titanium-aluminium alloy; the third is a layer of Depleted Uranium, increasing the protection of the tank; the fourth layer is a titanium-aluminium alloy, threaded with carbon-whiskers; the fith layer is composed of a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first four layers.
Optional AERA: With the AERA-II 3rd Gen. ERA system, the primary layer ignites outwards with the second layer following behind after a certain time-delay nearly doubling the effectiveness of the system. Upon finishing the calculations (with plenty of seconds to spare before the round hits), the computer activates a 3-5 ERA block area (made of primary layers) to ignite at a set time with the second layer following after. An auxilary system, although not as effective, works to ignite the ERA blocks upon contact with a high-speed projectile...
Optional Kaktus ERA: Kaktus ERA can also be installed. This system uses the idea of plates of metal sliding sideways upon impact, increasing the amount of metal the HEAT warhead has to burn through. In addition, this rapid action has been known to split APFS rounds in two.
-COUNTERMEASURES
The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder has standard flare/chaff pods, in addition to 16 81mm grenade launchers on the turret.
There are several jamming systems to attempt to stop missiles, as well as linking the CACS system with the commanders gun to allow automatic firing on enemy infantry threats. The SAM pod and the 80mm mortar are also linked.
There is an extensive NBC protection system to help the crew and equipment to survive EMP pulses and radiation, as well as toxic chemicals.
-ENGINES
The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder is equipped with an improved INCM V8I-2000 Powerbar diesel engine providing 1,900hp at 2,900rpm. The engine provides a road speed over 45mph and cross country speed up to 28mph.
The tank also has a Turbomeca TM-307B gas turbine auxiliary power unit to provide power when the engine is switched off.
-AUTOLOADER
The Pz-4 uses the perfected TL-M-50 auto-loader. This autoloader does not require the cannon to be brought down to a horizontal position but instead follows the cannon up and uses a variable drive assembly system to load the shell into the cannon's chamber at any elevation. This auto-loader only has a ready-rack of about six rounds which is then fed by a 'chain-link drive' to the ammunition storage compartment. Each time a shell is fired and one is loaded into the weapon, the armored partition (between the ammo storage compartment and interior of turret) opens, a hydraulic arm pushes the shell onto a 'plate' which then runs the shell to the auto-loader ready-rack. The auto-loader can also load a barrel-fired ATGM providing that a crew member put the weapon on the rack and designate its firing properties.

Pz-5 Wolfbane HBT

Specification A
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v636/sp00ked/wolfbane2.jpg
Specification B
History:
The huge success of the Pz-4 made it seem that nothing more could be done to improve tank design. Then came the Pz-5...
The Pz-5 is designed to be a heavy tank, surpassing others in armour and armament, but lacking in speed. Speed was not a necessity, as escorting Pz-4's could handle that. Featuring a weapons array rivaling that of four normal tanks, the Wolfbane is sure to send enemies running.
Description:
-CACS/DEITY BATTLEFIELD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Pz-5 is fitted with the same CACS (Computer Aided Control System) as the Pz-4, but optimised for the new weapon loadout.
-ARMAMENT
Specification A
The primary weapon of the tank is a 145mm electro-thermal-chemical (ETC) gun, identical to the one that is installed on the Revenant MkIIU and the Pz-4.
The barrel is covered in a structure that dissapates heat to reduce IR signature considerably.
The rounds for this gun include: APFSDS, SCRAMjet, HEAT, HE, HESH, 'Balls of fire' rounds (ball bearing and napalm), and ATGM's.
Specification B
This uses a 6 barrel gas gun.
By compressing a chamber full of hydrogen with a weak railgun driven piston, then igniting the hydrogen, a projectile be moved at a little less the speed of sound in hydrogen (3.2km per second). The improved ammo capacity is due to the fact that all thats needed is a tank of hydrogen to propel the shell, making it completely caseless.
This technology, combined with tank development from Venom Defence engineers has resulted in an awesome tank killer weapon. Six 70mm gas guns are mounted in a circular shape, with a large hydrogen tank driving all of them. They are all loaded with shaped tungsten slugs, then when fired each gun fires one after the other, in extremely quick succession (takes .2 seconds to fire all six) at one point on the target, designated by a laser (the guns all can move slightly, allowing them to adjust to the correct distance). They all hit in rapid succession at over 2x the velocity of a normal shell.
This added velocity makes up for the smaller weight, as can be seen by the equation: KE= 0.5 x mass x (velocity x velocity). The slugs have more Kinetic Energy than a normal shell 140mm in diameter. Add to this the fact that all six slugs hit on the exact same spot on the armour at a very short interval, and penetration of the armour is almost guarenteed. The range is up to 15km.
Both
The commander’s weapon on top of the turret is a remotely controlled minigun with 6 12.7mm barrels putting out 2000 or 3000 RPM, making it an excellent anti-infantry and anti-helicopter weapon. The gun has been partially covered to reduce IR signature. The ammunition for this gun includes guided ammunition:
The spin of a normal round makes it difficult to hit a target with perfect precision. But venom defense have designed a system that can overcome this shortcoming with the use of two micromotors to deal with the spinning and stationary sections of the bullet separately. Resulting from this innovation, bullet can alter the projected path of the bullet in accordance with the location of the target by moving the non-moving head of the bullet to make it point in different directions. In addition, the intense kinetic energy of the spinning portion boosts the effects of impact thus making the round more destructive.
The rounds will be cost effective as they will be manufactured with standard materials. Further reducing the cost is the fact that bullets will not require an internal seeker to be effective, the gun just needs to have a small invisi-laser pointer. Accuracy is a result of the actual system and the bullet together, not just the bullet by itself. Last but not least, these rounds are compatible with current gun systems.
The coaxial weapons are dual 12.7mm machineguns, specially suited for anti-infantry work.
In addition, there is a duel 40mm mortar system in the tank, this saves valuable ammunition in a firefight and gives a top attack capability allowing the tank to fire over obstacles. The duel system allows for a higher ROF to keep infantry under cover. This is coupled to the CACS system for automatic targetting.
There is also a small 7.6mm MG on each side of the tank, these are fully controlled by the CACS system and fire upon targets to the front and sides.
-ARMOUR
The Pz-5 uses multiple armour types, including Triada, LASH and composite.
LASH: The first layer is a titanium-aluminium alloy, very hard and brittle, but with a film on the inside that will hold the fragments in place after a hit. The second layer is a dilatant liquid (the more pressure you apply, the tougher it is) inside multiple compartments. This helps aid the prevention of the penetration of SABOT rounds. The next layer is an extremely heat resistant foam, stopping HEAT warheads burning through. The final layer is a titanium-aluminium alloy, with carbon fibres extending through it.
The LASH is present over the entire turret, and on the front and sides of the hull.
The Triada is present on the turret and the front section of the hull.
Optional AERA: With the AERA-II 3rd Gen. ERA system, the primary layer ignites outwards with the second layer following behind after a certain time-delay nearly doubling the effectiveness of the system.
