Invasion of Gambia (Earth DA)

The Real ALM

Kimiko Ayasugi was pleased with the Progress of the "Yamato-Go" Plan- her plan to take as much of Africa as possible. Now, as Senegal was being contested, she made her play for Gambia.

RALM Agents, driving into Gambia from Senegal, made good use of the pourous border (and the large-value gold sovereigns they brought with them to "persuade" the guards in case the borders did not prove so pourous), to begin sneaking in agents ofthe Tokko, and its military arm, the Tokko-Rikkusentai.

They also began to sneak in guns. To facilitate this, the RALM used its front company, KSC Enterprises, to purchase a small airport. There, guns of all shapes and sizes were soon shipped into Gambia.

The RALM soon had enough agents and arms to begin an insurrection. All they had to do was persuade a government official who hated the present government to join them.

As with any such case, they found one: a lower level Lieutenant in the Gambian Army. However, he had grown tired of a lack of promotions, and the general state of destitution in the area. Plus, the RALM's religion was really attractive.

So, with that, the rogue joined with the RALM to begin a coup.

The coup soon tore the country apart, loyalists and rebels were soon at each other's throats. The rebels were winning with the help of the RALM, blood was being shed, things were going to hell.

Again, just what the RALM wanted, for the Virginians would be coming.....

--------------------------------------------------

The Jeb Stuart Battle Group offshore Senegal soon got orders to send a portion of their forces, along with naval detachments from Cape Verde, to the Gambia. RALM Agents in country would soften them up, the rest would be up to the Virginians.

A fleet of 5 Arliegh Burkes, 4 Oliver Hazard Perry's, 12 Wasp Amphibious Landers (One Marine Unit), and two Sacramento Supply ships moved off the coast of the Gambia.

Before long, they moved in, landing troops on the coast and bombarding the shore defenses with Tomahawks, taking out what was left of their defenses.

The Marines then landed, and began to move quickly, sweeping away the weakened Gambian Army, divided by rebellion and damaged by the Virginian use of combined arms. They were close to the capital city, and everybody knew it would be a matter of hours before it fell.

Before long, they would join up with the RALM/Rebel Factions, and help them impose their rule on the rest of the country.

Of course, there was the matter of cleaning up....the Government still wanted to fight. This was expected, but they would be rooted out soon enough.

OOC: Anybody want to be the government troops?
