Ramissle Begins Construction of "El Duro Line"

Fifty Miles East of New Rome, Ramissle
Bob pulled a lever. A large bucket moved up, full of frozen earth. Soon after, the load was dumped into an HEMTT, which the goverment leased out to Bob's construction company. He was on just one team of hundreds, digging a thirty foot deep trench. Further down the trench, another Heavily Expanded Mobile Tactical Truck was dumping its soil, fresh from a large hole. Bob paused for lunch, and bit into his sandwich.
Statistics
What is it? The "El Duro" is a 1300 mile system of underground tunnels, forward SAM sites, outposts, and area bases between The Incorporation and the Boneric Empire. Each 150 mile stretch is seperated into three areas, each with there own area bases.
http://img164.exs.cx/img164/7285/inviniline7rj.png
Example of one area (50 miles)
Breakdown of "El Duro"
Area: Fifty miles of Outposts and SAM batteries. Consists of five outposts, one area base, and 20+ batteries. One military company is posted in an area.
Area Base: Command post for area. Uses both land lines and wireless communication to recieve and send orders. Also acts as a refueling station for Armoured Battalions.
Outpost: An outpost has one major purpose, and that is to defend the area. At each post there may be any sort of weaponry to keep the enemy away.
SAM Battery: Usually consists of four to five underground SAM silos. Most kinds of anti-air missle can be fired here.
Underground Tunnel: Just like it sounds, an underground tunnel. Three checkpoints below ground must be passed through to reach the outlaying bases and outposts. Steel doors may be remotely activated to close off sections. Above ground, a three mile expanse of land is covered with mines and pillboxes. All of which, of course, are heavily camoflauged.

No doubt said about the one in France. Well, I assure you, this is not to keep people out, more as a deterrent from an overland invasion. Besides, its not like anyone is going to go through Belgium to get into my country.
Plus I know its going to have problems, and I expect to make some nice RP's out of it.

Doomingsland Imperial Intellegence HQ, Doom City, Doomingsland
"Sir, latest sat photos of the Ramissle defensive line." said a lieutenant, stepping into the office of Marius Cassius, High Director of Imperial Intellegence.
"Thank you, el-tee, put 'em on my desk." he said, not bothering to look up as he sipped his coffee and typed away on his keyboard.
The DII had been aware of the construction of the line as soon as it had started, and had immediatly put three satelites on geo-sync orbit one mile into the Borman border, allowing them to constantly watch the constrcuction of the line. They were monitering the placement of suface-to-air missle batteries and the placement of tunnel entrances via live tactical footage of the area, which was what Marius was doing at the moment.
He had already contacted the Emperor, who had immediatly authorized the placement of the satelites, and even the movement of Special Intellegence Gathering Units (SIGUs) into the area, who would attempt to infiltrate the Ramissle border and moniter the defenses ahead of time (and possibly sabotage some things).
At the moment, Marius was busy remaking the invasion plans for Ramissle...
OOC:Next post will include me inserting the SIGUs.

2 Miles from Ramissle-Borman Border
A lone MV-68 Banshee refitted for the SIGU unit operating out of it shot across the sky towards the mountains of Ramissle. Inside were the four men assigned to gather intellegence on the new defenses. The men were equiped with the VEPR SS (sneaking suit) system, the absolute latest in covert operations technology, and carried suppresed M85 SMGs. One man carried an SR-25 sniper rifle in addition to his SMG. Their leader was a man known only by his first name, Gaius, a seasoned intellegence officer who had done this type of work before. They had no ranks or affiliation with the Imperial Government, meaning if they were discovered, knowledge of their existance could be easily denied.
They were, in effect, dead men. That is, until they won back their lives by getting home.
As the sleak looking aircraft neared the border, it's active radar wave cancellation system went to work, preventing detection. It was flying under the cover of a snow storm, and would hopefully be able to bypass the border stations without being spotted. As it neared the previously designated LZ, it kicked on its vectored thrust and wing mounted fans, putting it into a hover. The men quickly piled out into the freezing cold (yes, they remembered jackets) as the aircraft shot off back towards Borman.
As was mentioned before, they were now dead men.

A quiet clang rang through the building. Jerry had just finished a bowl of vanilla ice cream at work. It was Frozen Treats day at The RIO, or Ramissle Intelligence Organization. He, along with half of The Incorporations finest snoops were having there lunch break. He walked down to his cubicle. Jerry began the standered check up procedure, searching for unauthorized airspace penetration as well as odd sattilite operation in Geo-Sync orbit. He began the check, and although the snow storm masked any visual confermations, the radar printouts from the last hour should have shown something. He checked. Nothing, as usual. Jerry checked the space records for the last day or so, and saw something interesting. Around the Borman border, he saw a couple sattilites. Being on his side of the border, he called it in, deeming it unauthorized.
"I see. And you are sure? Ok, I'll relay this to the General, see what he makes of it. Thank you Jerry, and make sure you come to my place for the big game Saturday. Bye." Phillip hung up. He was an "administrative assistant" for General Statton, the commander of the Ramisslian Army. Phil put the faxed communication on Statton's desk.
Statton exploded when he saw it. Spy satillites above Ramissle? He knew that this was a prelude to war with not only Borman, but also with Doomingsland, which had obviously put them up. He began to ponder what to do with them, and was wondering if ASAT's were feasible.
OOC: I know Borman isn't involved, but I felt that saying that made it more realistic.

Inside Ramissle Border
The four man team had been successfully and covertly inserted into enemy territory, and had established a satelite link with their headquarters. It was cold out, not the kind of weather a Doomingslander would appreciate, but they'd gone through arctic warfare training in Shenyang and Alberia. They were used to it by now. The men were quietly traversing the mountains, always keeping an eye out for enemy patrols.
At first glance, they could easily be mistaken for civilian hikers. Well, that was the idea. They wore thick coats over their suits as to keep them warm and act as a disguise. The nearest outpost was just five miles away, and would be the first objective to be surveyed firsthand by the group.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the three geo-sync spy sats assigned to moniter the construction of the El Duro Line had been joined by another two sats. They were all technically over Borman territory, but they could still look into Ramissle territory (thanks to their high orbit and simply by tilting over a bit). They had been constantly monitering the placement of SAMs, pillboxes, and (to a lesser degree) the general area where mines were being set.

General Statton was pacing around the room. As he walked, he thought about the current conflict. He would obviously have to call the Navy back, but would they hold up against the Doomingsland Invasion? Oh well. He would just have to find out.
New Flame, Ramissle
The Military base was bustling. The First and Second Divisions were currently in training, all 120,000 of them. New Flame consisted of five sections: A barracks complex (enough for five divisions), a firing range, an air field, a weapons/vehicle depot, and a large silo battery. Major General Norwich was currently in the firing station right now. He sat down in an extremly comfortable armchair.
"Gentlemen, this may very well be the start of a war. If we win, we will do so modestly. If we lose, we shall do so with dignity."
He pressed a big red button, and they heard a low rumble as Silo number four opened up. The rumble turned into a thunder when the ASAT Two stage rocket ignited. It flew into the atmosphere, guided by its previously designated target to one of the spy sattilites. Four more fired, from silos five through nine. A prelude to war it was.
OOC: I know, the sattilites are on his side. But they don't know that.

Mt. Doom Facility, Doomingsland
"Sir! ASAT launch out of Ramissle detected!"
"Shit! Time to impact?"
"Thirty seconds." replied the nameless tech sergeant as he watched the blips on his screen representing the missiles get closer to the blips representing the satelites. "Ten seconds." by now, several people had crowded around his work station in anticipation. "Four...three...two...one...impact now!"
As he said that, all of the blips on his screen disappeared. "All recon sats have been completely destroyed, sir."
"Damnit. Get me the High Command."
"Yessir."
Thirty minutes later...
A lone satelite weapons platform hovering over Borman territory came to life. It was armed with twelve tungsten rods and three point defence lasers, and had two extra defensive sats in the immediate area. It had been ordered to retaliate against the base at New Flame, but was to target only the silos, thus minimizing casualties on the part of the enemy. The Doomingslanders had no intention of being blamed for causing the war.
A few hundred or so miles below, two men sat at the controls of the platform in the middle of nowhere. They'd both recieved launch codes from the High Command, and were preparing to turn the keys...
"On my mark, three...two...one...mark!" at that, both men turned their keys, and imputted the proper launch codes. Finally, the moment they'd been waiting for. A panel turned over, revealing twelve switches. "Ready?"
"Always."
"Good." replied the other man, as he and his comrade turned eight of the twelve switches, causing the satelite to launch eight tungsten rods.
It was actualy launching from roughly one hundred miles into Borman, but they were doing so on an angle, allowing for the rods to come crashing into all five silos plus the weapons depot and airfield at a velocity of roughly mach 20 (making for a very large penetration and explosion). After that, they turned the other four switches, which sent the remaining rods down towards the remaining silos.
As that happened, another 6 spy satelites took up geo-sync orbit one mile into Borman territory.
It was the move of the Ramisslens now...

Connor Lagunti looked over the ridge with his binoculars. He was on a joint training/survellience mission of the Bormon-Ramissle border. He and his squad, in a Z114 APC. He got back in. The tracked vehicle continued along the route. At the next ridge, they stopped again. Connor got out. He looked through his binoculars once again, and this time saw something. Four men were walking across the open snow, wearing civilien clothing. But Connor was suspicious. The area along the Borman border had been temperarilly closed off to citizens, without express written consent from the Department of the Interior. Connor ordered the driver to get closer to them, then stepped out. He looked at who appeared to be the leader.
"Hello!" he said, with his OICW in hand. "You folks have permission to be out here?" He waited for a response.
New Flame
The military base had finally lived up to its namesake. The eight tungsten rods had obliterated the base, and only the two barracks holding the two divisions remained unharmed. The Third Mechanized division had been completly destroyed, as did the silos and everyone inside. A prelude to war it was.
OOC: This is why I've been building the line. With the area bases, you would essentially have to destroy 26 bases, along with all the SAM sites to completly remove me from the area. And didn't we say something about orbital bombing?
EDIT: One more thing. I do have another set of silos, in my colonies. Obviously, much bigger and more robust. Plus I can always use the SAM sites for ASAT's theoretically.

OOC:You could do that, but I'd see you trying to fit the SAMs with ASATs. We said no orbital weapons DURING the war, this is technically before the war. There's four men, not five, BTW.
IC:
The four men wore balaclava style masks, both to conceal their identity and protect them from the cold. Gaius took out a falsified authorization paper. "Yes we do, sir." he said, handing to soldier the papers. They stated that they'd been hired by the department of the interior to do some contracting work, not actualy specifying what kind. They were, however, master forgeries, and would be very difficult to spot.

Connor looked at the papers, and gave them back.
"Everything seems to be in order. Carry on."
He headed back to APC, somehow senseing that he'd see them later on.
The driver started the engine again, and drove the treaded monster over the ridge again, headed to a newly finished outpost in the north.

As the APC dissapeared in the distance, the men breathed a sigh of relief. Now they could get on with their mission. The men ran up into the brush as to better conceal themselves, and headed towards the outpost. They'd taken up position on a nearby ridge, carefully concealing themselves and entrenching themselves. The then began to plan the infiltration of the post...

General Statton looked at the report on "El Duro". Five hundred miles of the line in the north had been completed, along with 100 in various other spots. He took a look at the pill box design.
http://www.montagna.org/med/photo-gallery/Albania/Bunker.jpg
They were low profile, almost fully into the soil. Heavily camoflauged, the mountain design even had a covering of fake snow on it. Two men occupied a bunker, each with a FN Minimi.
He sighed. He knew Doomingsland was planning something. Just what, he didn't know.

The Doomingsland High Command was almost as well informed as General Statton on the progress of the line, keeping an accurate 3D model of what they could see on the satelites. The one thing they couldn't see were the tunnels (obviously), but that wouldn't be much of a problem, provided their operatives got into the base....
Meanwhile, on that subject, two of the four men had decided to head into the outpost, the other two covering it with the sniper rifle.

"Great. Now, can you tell me what this thing is?"
Joe the Electritian began to speak.
"Alright, I just hooked up your basic AFTAS to the computer guided turrets up top. Provided you are in a state of war, all you have to do is sit at the computer and confirm targets, and it will automatically fire upon them. In order to use it however, your platoon commanding officer must send you the firing codes. Got it?"
"Clear as crystal Joe. Now, to use the elevator you must use the pass card, am I correct?"
"Yes. Also, the security guards downstairs have a heart moniter. If both of the guards die at any of the three stations, the steel doors at each checkpoint will automatically shut."
"Ok Joe. I believe you have lunch break before your next stop, correct?"
"Yep. Leftover calzones from last night. Your wife ok after that nasty fall?
"Sure is." Johnson looked out the window, and a look of fear crept up his face. "Joe, who is that?"

As Johnson said that, the man he'd spotted suddenly disappeared from sight. He hadn't moved (as far as he could tell), just disappeared, as if he was hilusenating. The truth behind this was that the VEPR SS system came equiped with an optical camoflage system, allowing for the user to stay relatively invisible when staying in place. He had, in fact, not moved an inch, and was standing right there. He would wait for the Ramisslian to look away before he moved.
Meanwhile, the other man had been ahead of him, and was rapidly approaching the bunker. As he got to the entrance, he snaked a fiber optic cable beneath the door to look inside...

As they looked away, the man dashed over towards his comrade. As he did that, Johnson came off the elevator, and headed towards the entrance. The first man (Gaius) motioned for the second to back away into a fireing position. Gaius was directly next to the door as it swung open. When Johnson stepped out into the cold, Gaius siezed him, putting him into a sleeper hold, and having him on the ground in under five seconds. He was throroughly knocked out.
In order to cover this up, Gaius used an old technique. He took out a metal flask, and poured liquor into the man's mouth, leaving it next to him. Now it appeared that he'd been drinking on duty.
After that, they took the key card off of him, and headed into the elevator.

He walked over to the cell phone, and closed it. He then motioned for the other man to hook his OPSAT up to the computer desk.
The OPSAT would then run a program to copy all of the files off of the hard drive into the mainframe at the DII HQ. The program was made to look like it was a memory allocation error, so it would go undetected. Once it was done copying, Gaius took a cup of coffee and spilled it on the keyboard of the computer, making it look as if Joe had electricuted himself and knocked himself out accidentaly.

The AFTAS Project was put forth to the Ramisslian Army in late '03. To use it however, the Commanding Officer of the Platoon must send firing codes in order for it to work. Otherwise the turret is simply operated by the human at the firing station.

He looked down the tunnel, and saw something odd. The elevator door closed, and went up to the top. He got up.

A lone man walked through the six inch snow drifts. Equipped with only a map and a barrel full of anti tank mines, his mission was clear: Activate the mines, place them on the ground, and mark them on the map. Carefully placing one, he shivered as another gust of wind sharply hit his back. His hand quivered, and he marked the spot. When his route was over, he and over a hundred other men would submit their maps to The RIO. The maps would be interpreted, analysed, and stored until the afterwar cleanup occured.
Meanwhile, a construction crew was busy fitting a hidden set of tubes with TOW missles. The setup was remotly connected to the outpost nearest to it, there a soldier would fire via his computer. A few feet away from them was a backhoe, digging a small trench to stop the impending tank assault. These men would be the real heroes of the war. No matter what happened.

A soldier walked past the command center. He saw a couple men, and kept walking. He got to the kitchen, were he made himself a sandwich. As he started to eat it, he began to relize what he saw. Sandwich still in mouth, he ran with his gun loaded. He pointed the gun at the men, and told them to turn around. When he remembered his sandwich muffled his mouth, he spit it out and repeated his command.

As soon as the data had been copied, an alarm went off, and the command center was quickly surrounded...
