Certe Continues Channel Expansion
News
Today the Empire of Certe continued it's aggressive expansion policy as it attacked and annexed another two channel islands. These islands are located in the channel between the Empire and the island nation of Vladachek. The two nations have a history of tensions and just recently the Vladachekian government warned that it would not tolerate any more imperialistic expansion.
President-for-Life Bestron made a statement that they have the right to be there as they were asked to invade by the island governments. "It's not our fault that they changed their minds later!" he explained, "That's just their tough luck."
THere have been rumors and reports of the Certean military building bases on the islands and some footage has been recovered.
The footage seems to have been taken from a boat. An island can be seen a few hundred meters away. Small figures and heavy machinery are moving about working on some sort of construction.
The Certean government denies that the islands will be housing any military units.

Offical Statement from the Parliament of Vladachek
The offensive actions taken by Certe will not be ignored. An offical embargo against the country of Certe is now in place, and any intrusion into our waters by warships of the Certian nation will be treated as an act of war, and dealt with accordingly.
Internal Affairs
The 21st and 52nd Infantry Divisions have been mobilised to take up positions along the coast, should aggressive action be taken by the nation of Certe. the Vladachekian Navy has stepped up patrols in the channel.

Night, off the coast of Vladachek
The surf pounded into the beach, the swoosh of the waves deceptively soothing. About a kilometer out there was a large splashing noise as a black shape emerged from underneath the water, followed by a clanking. Black-clad figures scrambled down the sides of the conning tower and into a small, black rubber boat. There was a whispered command and the boat began moving towards shore. as they dissepeared into the darkness the submarine silently sled beneath the waves. It's mission had been accomplished.
Sitting at his mahogony desk one pleasant afternoon, Grunstag Darkaxe looked at the pile of papers for him to sort through. Leafing through them he noticed titles such as "Union Workers..." "Terrorist Activities..." and "Dragons nearing extinction...". At the sight of the tireless barage of paperwork the large man sighed. Only after he sighed did he realize that his Chief Under Secretary, Depecano, had knocked on the door and was waiting patiently to be recognized.
"Come in Depcano, what is it?" Grunstag said heartily.
"Well sir, we have a feeling that our ally Certe may be getting in over their respective heads." Depcano said with a sigh.
"What now? Some countries not liking their imperialistic views?" Grunstag asked with a chuckle.
"Basically, here is the intelligence that you will require." Depecano said lightly as he handed Grunstag the black atache case.
Grunstag opened the case and leafed through the documents.
"Crap, this could be bad. Airlift the 116th Dragoon Brigade to Certe immediately to be placed under their control for the duration of this embargo. Also, station two brigades as security detail dispersed as best possible amongst all of our trade routes. Do not, I repeat DO NOT, allow our traders to be stopped by this embargo." Grunstag said with an air of power.
Depcano left the room and went to pass the orders along.

Peaceful attempts at expansion? Yet, you clearly stated that your military "continued it's aggressive expansion policy as it attacked and annexed" two islands. This is not at all a peaceful action. As such, we demand that you permit the Kingdom of Malkyer to send observers to the islands in question, to confirm both your allegations that a Certian presence is desired in the islands, and that you are not building a military presence in said islands. Doing so would only escalate the situation, and that could lead to, at worst, a war. In the interest of peace, we ask that you accede to our resquest.
With Regards,
Davis Hanson

Official Imperial Statement
The Empire applauds the unification efforts of the Certian government. Clearly it is the fault of the channel island governments for inviting a Certian military presence and then promptly withdrawing said invitation. As it stands, the Empire stands firmly behind the upstart state, and if necessary will commit military assets in defense of Certe and her new protectorate territories.

President-for-Life Bestron sat in his office, tossing a small rubber ball back and forth between his hands as he looked over all the official paperwork.
"Let's see...Dryniar is sending me some troops. I'll have to write them a thank you note. The embargo continues...and some nation wants to insure I'm not building military bases on the islands. Well, of course I'm going to build a military presence there! It's for my country's own defence. Some people just don't understand..."
There was a knock on the door. "Come in." he grunted. The door opened and one of his innumerable aids entered, carrying a plain manilla folder. He handed it to Bestron. "Sir," the aid spoke, "The Vladachek embargo is being a bit more effective then we thought it would. Although Dryniar's shipments are getting through we're losing money and trade. The Dryniarian troops have arrived and we're putting them up with the Presidential Guard for now. Oh, and the crew of the Silent Runner have reported back. They say they delivered the package."
"Ah. I see....Hold on a moment." Berston bent over his desk and wrote a few lines out before handing the paper to his aide. "Send that to Grunstag. And send this..." he wrote a few more lines on another sheet of paper, "To this Davis Hanson."
"yes sir. At once."

70 kilometers off the coast of Certe, at the enterance to the channel.
A freighter chugs on it's merry way. Until, that is, it is hailed by a passing warship bearing the Vladachekian national flag and naval ensign. "Attention frieghter Kasumi Maru, this is the Vladachakian warship V.S.S. Thermopylae, alter your course immediately. You will not be allowed to continue into the channel or land in a Certe port. Reverse you course or land in another nation's port. If you refuse to comply with these orders, you will be boarded and your crew forcibly removed. Than your ship ill be blown out of the water."
The ship began a slow turn, heading way from the channel. The embargo was working.

((OOC: Vladacheck, I think you're confusing 'embargo' with a blockade. An embargo merely means a cessation of trade with another nation and is legal internationally. A blockade is a forcible naval barrier set up along a nation's coast to stop vessels from entering or leaving. A quarantine is a less forceful version of a blockade, where vessels are turned back and not destroyed. What you seem to be enacting is a quarantine.))
Night, the Vladachekian Coast
Captain John Redwen looked out over teh water for a moment, before glancing back at his five-man team huddled in the shelter of some rocks, the boat held ready for a quick getaway. THey were waiting for a pick-up from teh Silent Runner. He and his team had been landed a few days ago to scope the area and discover how heavily defended the Vladachek coast was. So far the mission had gone well.
He lifted the transmitter to his mouth. "This is Eye to Runner, do you read? over." He waited for a few minutes then tryed again: "Eye to Runner, do you read? over."
Meanwhile...
Out at sea, about a hundred meters down the Silent Runner was getting into position.
"Surface!"
A few minutes later teh submarine broke the surface and the captain of the sub lifted his transmitter. "This is Runner to Eye. We read you. We are in position. Over."
Back on the beach Redwen let out a soft sigh of relief.
"OK, let's go!"

Night, the Vladachekian coast
A small patrol, supported by 2 gunboats off shore, was pickings it's way through the rocks. They had goten reports from some locals of some suspricious looking new arrivals to the local community, who kept mostly t themselves. So they had coem to investigate. The NCO in charge looked at his squad "Okay, last cove, than we're heading back to base." As they began to follow the path down to the beach, his radio crackled "Sargeant Wilhelm? We've got an unidentified shape out there in the water, we're moving in to take a closer look. You guys better scour that beach." Wilhelm thumbed hsi radio "Right. Alright boys, let's get to it." As they got closer to the beach, a small group of men, struggling with a black rubber boat materialised out of the gloom. the Sargeant signalled for his men to fan out as they approached, than raised his G3 assault rifle, flicking the saftey off. "You! Put your hands in the air! Now!"
The 2 gunboats were closing with the shape, searchights flickering over the water, when it dissapeared with a swirl. "Hey! It must have beena sub! Get on the horn and get a sub hunter in the air!" "Yes sir!"

Very well, we await your observer arrival.

Night, off the Vladachekian Coast
Redwen cursed and shouted at his men as he unslung the submachine gun he was carrying and started firing. "GO! Get out of here!" The team broke into an awkward run, splashing into the surf. The night lit up with flashes as Redwen and the patrol exchanged fire. Redwen had taken cover behind a rock and was firing in bursts, trying to keep the patrol's heads down.
Meanwhile, on board the Silent Hunter the captian was giving orders.
"Get me firing solutions! Load torpedo tubes!"
The crew scrambled to obey his orders, the sub swinging around towards the two patrol boats.
"Sir, I have a firing solution."
"Fire tubes one and two!"
"Firing now sir."

Every day, Kir had to look over a long series of reports on international incidents throughout the world. It was usualy rather boring, but he recognized the importance of keeping well informed. Besides, while most reports could simply be moved to the 'insignificant' file, occaisonally something interesting came up. Here, for example, was another report about that nation 'Certe' that had so dramatically announced itself.
At first, Kir smiled at the news, but as he read further his expression grew grim.
"This is ridiculous! It's getting to the point where one can't even annex a couple tiny islands without upsetting people. Delun, do we have any trade with Certe?"
Kir's advisor of Trade and Foreign Relations had been expecting this question.
"A bit, but not a great deal. I take it you'll be wanting that changed?"
"Yes. Encourage any merchants who are considering destinations to choose Certe."
"It shall be done."
Secret transmission to Certe:
President-for-Life Bestron,
I understand that Vladachek has chosen to place an embargo against you because of your expansionist policies? I have instructed my citizens to increase trade with your nation. Should you need anything, please let me know and I will do what I can to help. In these crazy times, those who appreciate strength are so outnumbered by those who do not that we must stick together to survive.
Good luck to you an your people,

Night, the Vladachekian Coast, PT-29
A sailor standing at the bow gun of the patrol turned, yelling back toards the bridge, "SIR! Torpedoes in the water!" the Leutnant in command nodded to the helmsman. "Evasive action!" The patrol boat spun to the side, barely avoiding one of the torpedoe grazed by, thought it's sister boat, the PT-19 not being so lucky. the small boat exploded in a brilliant flash of light, debris raining over the water as the munitions hold detonated. "Damn! Get me a fix on that thing's location! And call for destroyer support!"
Sargeant Wilhelm ducked behind a rock, firing nother burst as he did so. "Weber! Put down some covering fire with that LMG! Fireteam 2, flank to the left!" The patrol moved out, tracers hurtling over the unkown assailant's position as Fireteam 2, a group of 4 men, sprinted forwads and to the left, firing sporadicly at Redwen as they attempted to flank him.

V.S.S. Spitfire, crusier, 20 kilometers off the coast of Vladechek, inbound for Sutherland Naval Base
"Sir, we have a submarine reported by PT-29. PT-19 has been destroyd by a torpedo."

"Aye aye, sir."

Redwen cursed and grunted in pain as a bullet smacked into his shoulder, throwing him to he ground he tried to pick himself up, but found that his arm wouldn't obey him. He heard shouts and splashing followed by the sound of a small outboard motor. Good. His men were getting away. He lifted his pistol from its holster with one hand. He would not allow himself to be taken alive.
The rest of them team zipped over the water in the boat, heading for the rendevous point.

"we've got a problem sir. One of our intelligence teams is in trouble and the submarine has to run."

Grunstag sat patiently, awaiting the transmission from Certe. Minutes later an aide walked in, handed him the transmission and left. Reading it over Grunstag smiled. But as he did, he thought to himself. 'Why did I have to take over a country that is landlocked? Maybe I should follow Certe's example and expand. If I could get some coastline and a Navy, I may be more helpful to my allies in general.' After this thought crossed his mind for, not the first time in recent days, he punched the intercom button on his desk.

Imperial Military High Command, Generia City HQ
Lord General Ivan Mroskov reclined in his stuffed leather armchair with his feet on his desk. A fat cigar hung from his jowls, and thick grey smoke wreathed his face. His steel eyes gazed off into space, unfocused as his mind drifted. He had just recently been given the position of supreme commander of the Imperial regular armies, second only to Emperor Varus himself. In truth, the appointment had been rather shocking to him. He was not the usual type of man that the Imperial higher ups looked at for such a position. They seemed to prefer men of a higher calibur of breeding and affluence. More often than not, it was the sons of aristocrats who were given cabinet positions, not war heros.
The General had always been a military man, serving proudly in the War of Sarzonian Aggression, commanding the Praetorian Guard at Port Belgrade. When the SAP coalition forces had turned tail and run, he had been given a promotion and put in charge of the recruitment drive in the northern dominions; a desk job but one of importance nonetheless. When Lord Marius had turned against Varus and Antonius, Mroskov had sworn his allegiance to the true throne, and had commanded Varus's armies on the Alberian Edge. His victory there was now achieving legendary status.
Still, the general saw his achievements as merely average, and had accepted his position with some reluctance. Now, as he contemplated these things, an aid quietly entered the room, and offered a slight bow. Mroskov eyed him, and chuckled to himself at the display of respect. Lowering his feet, he leaned across his desk and gave the aid his trademark stare.
"Yeah?"
The aid was slightly unnerved by the man, having been accustomed to dealing with more refined officers.
"Lord General, as you ordered, Imperial satellites and GIIS assets in country have been monitoring the situation in Certe."
"Get to the point."
"Sir, we detected signs of a firefight breaking out about fifteen minutes ago. The nation of Vladacheck has already blockaded the coast, and expressed intent to initiate hostilities. Military intelligence fears an escalation of the situation."
The General reclined again and replaced his feet on the desk. He grinned. This was the kind of thing he lived for.
"Are the boys ready?"
"Yes, Lord General. The mobilization of Imperial military assets has occured as you ordered."
"Good, then what are we waiting for? Send the damn communique, and get 'em in country!"
"Yes, sir."
The aid bowed quickly and rushed out of the room, relieved to be out of the presence of the intimidating figure.

It was beign followed by a spotlight from the patrol boat, which was chasing the boat. Wilhelm was no seaman, but he knew that the small rubber boat couldn't last mch longer. He motioned to hs sqaud. "Set up a perimeter and we'll wait for our pick-up."
PT-29
The patrol was ruthelessly closing in on the smaller boat, bursts of .50 caliber machine gun fire sending up spouts of water around it. The damn thing was twisting and turning, making it hard to get a decent shot off. At the bow, the 50mm cannon fired again, sending up a spout of water that drenched the occupants of the rubber boat. Leutnant Walker slammed his fist onto the railing of the bridge "We've got them!" As the patrol boat closed in for the kill, the faint sound of a helicopter was heard, as well as the not so faint sound of a pane roaring overhead. He looked up as the sub chaser went by, searchlights playing over the water in a search for the unidentified sub.
A small rubber boat of there had been dropped as they turned to chase the black boat, and it was current;y searching for surviors of PT-19 among the still smoldering wreckage.

OOC: You are correct in your assumption sir...Now where did Certe run off to...
Presidential Suite: Sahra Capitol
Harken D., president of Sahra, snoozed silently in his bed, dreaming of various foodstuffs. Various chocolate snacks raced around a random city blocking crying out for "attention". Harken's sweet* dream was interupted by his Military Advisor, Mitchell Schwiggs.
Harken shaked his head slowly as Schwiggs shook the Chief-of-Staff by his shoulders.
"Sir, we need to talk," Schwiggs shouldn't like it might be something important, Harken thought.
Harken replied, "Sure, sure... just... just give me a few minutes. I can still smell the chocolate icing"
Schwiggs raised his left eyebrow as he nodded his head and slowly marched out of the room.
A few minutes later President Harken D. stumbled out of his room drapped in his bed's comforter. To most this scene would seem bizare, especially for a political figure, but after a few months of serving under the rule of the excentric president, no one who worked directly with H.D. took notice.
"What is it Schwiggs?" Harken asked in a state of sleepyness.
It took Harken a few minutes to notice that Schiwggs was no where in sight.
Probably in my office, the President thought. H.D. trunddeled to his office, several hundered meters down the hall from the Presidential Suite. On his way down the hall, Harken past a few bodygaurds, some who took notice of his strange "outfit" (or lack there of).
H.D. got to his office door and proceeded to fling it open. Inside was Schiwwgs, playing with a mini-globe.
"Schwiggy, cut that out." Harken was dead serious when he said this; he took the well-being of his earthly possesions very seriously.
Harken hobbled across the room, rounded the left corner of his desk, and took a seat in its huge, padded chair.
"So what is it Schwiggs? Why`d ya get me `outta bed?" Harken asked in a dry, monotonous tone.
"Sir, its about the Crete-Vladachek situation. It is beginning to escalate, rapidly at that," Mitchell Shcwiggs said as he placed the mini-globe on a lamp stand located on the side of the west wall. He continued, "It might turn into a full blown war."
"So?" Harken replied promptly, despite his drowsy state, "Where do we fit in? It isn't any of our business."
Schwiggs frowned and just promptly as H.D. responded, sent forth his differing opinion on the matter; "I disagree sir. As a budding nation, we should start forming strong alliances, as well as making an image that displays us as a nation that disires peace and stability."
"Schwiggy, don't we really disire peace and stability? Why do we need to portray an image of the sort? Aren't most presented images fruads?"
Mitchell was silent for a moment. After a few seconds, Mitchell opened his to respond, but Harken cut him off.
"Plus, Mithcell, it still ain't none our business."
Mitchell Schwiggs went into a deep, pensive state for a moment or two, and then said, in a low, dejected voice: "You know, stepping in on behalf of Vladachek is the right thing to do."
"Is it Schwiggs? Stepping in one behalf of Vladachek would only make things worse. It be a repeate of WWI. And besides that, our army is still in its infancy. We only have a few naval vessels, army of about 140,000 individuals, and a small airforce consisting of about 300 various aircraft. Any large scale involvment would devestate our military. That is, when war does break out."
Schwiggs face went red. "Sir, those 300 various aircraft are top of the line, those 'few vessels' are the best money can buy, and those 140,000 odd some troops are highly trained and well prepared. And, for your information, I wasn't going to sugggest a large dedication of our military resources to this endevour."
"As far as our equipment and troops go, thats your opinion. And they`d still be outnumbered." sighed the Sahraian president "But I am initerested in your suggestion, whatever it may be."

Certean Helicopter, En Route
The pilot looked at his radio. "Shit...uh..." he pressed the talking button, rubbing one hand over the mic. "This is the private....*kssshhhh*....lost...equipment failure...*kshhhhh*" He dropped the nose of the copter, bringing it down to wave height.
"Hopefully that'll take us off radar and confuse them for a bit..." he peered through the canopy. "We're only a few more minutes away.."
Far ahead he saw the flash of weapons fire. He looked back at the gunner, "Looks like we're in for some heat. Get the gun ready!" The gunner nodded and slid the bolt back on the door M60. On the other side, another crewmember readied the winch that would be nessecary for picking up the members of the team.
As the two craft came intto sight the pilot brought the heliocopter in in a circle, giving the door gunner a clear shot. There was a dull chatter as the machine-gun opened up, spraying fire over the machine-gun gunners on the PT Boat.

A gunner screamed and went down, clutching his belly and groaning in pain. The leutnant cursed and ran to the machine gun, taking up the weapon himself. "Keep fire on those bastards in the boat! And get some guns on that helicopter! He has to stay still to pick up the guys in the boat!" he suited actions to words, spraying .50 caliber fire at the helicopter. Another sailor manned the twin 25mm anti-circraft cannons, swinging them around to bear on the helicopter and opening fire.
The 50mm boomed again, landing even closer to the rubber boat. More machine gun fire zipped towards the small craft, hoping to damage it or it's occupants.
V.S.S. Spitfire, 10 kilometers away
"Sir, we've lost radar contact with that aircraft. I got this weird message from them before I lost contact, though."
"Hmm...I don't like this...probably a Certe trick. Keep our present course. "
"Aye aye sir."
The ship sped on it's course, growig eve closer to the confrontation.
"Sir, our sattelites are picking up something." the technician said.
"What is it? A pack of wild dogs assaulting livestock again?" The team leader said nonchalantly.
"Umm...no sir, more like a small war going on off the coast of Vladachek." The tech said in all seriousness.
"What?" The Team Leader shouted, "Get on the horn with central, the President needs to know."

OOC: My same situation, drop me a telegram sometime, maybe we can reminisce about old times...I doubt Certe will mind, good head on those shoulders. And Vladachek seems to be pretty cool too.
Wire to Bestron:
Vladachek is likely to interfere? In that case, I believe I'll send a little surprise for them... Do you mind if I send a small convoy of disguised warships into your waters? Also, is there anything you're especially short on? My vessels will be able to carry a certain amount of cargo, though not as much as ordinary merchant crafts.

OOC: About the satellites: I never disputed that the battle would show up, by the way.
I've since checked the relevent formula:
The smallest angle at which two light rays can enter an instrument and still have resolved sources is equal to 1.22 times the wavelength divided by the diameter of the opening.
For visible light and a good-sized scope, this is an incredibly tiny angle; even considering the distances involved, atmospheric interference is likely to be a bigger factor. There is a minimum size, though...
Romandeos: It was described as 'open' in the first post, I think.

Confrontation of the Vladachek Coast
The small rubber boat zpped from side to side, trying to throw off the gunners aim as the tracer fire zipped overhead. Meanwhile, the helicopter, jinked to avoid the incoming 25mm rounds. There was a crashing noise and several holes appeared in the canopy. The man at the winch
slumped over and lay still.
"Oh SHIT!"
The pilot turned the heliocopter around, the gunner spraying machinegun fire over the boat. He jinked the craft until is was going right over the boat.
"Give me a willy pete!" the pilot shouted to the gunner. The gunner nodded and grabbed a grenade from underneath one of the passenger seats. He pulled the pin with a "click" and counted five seconds off. Just as thye wer about to pass over the 50mm on the bow he dropped the grande.
President Bestron's Office
"Sir, we've got a situation. Our agents have engaged with a Vladachekian PT boat."
"This is it then. Launch an all out pre-emptive strike on heir military installations. I want aircraft in the air now!"
"Yes sir!"
New Hope Island Air Force Base, 10 km from the coast of Certe
Colonel David Hortensen had been summoned from his bead. He had a phone call from the PResident himself. He took the phone from hisaide.
"Colonel Hortenson here."
"Colonel, this is President Bestron. I want you to launch a first stike on Vladachek's radar andari defense capabilitis. You will be launching the first on many such attacks. Other airbases will also be launching attacks. You are the spearhead Colonel. Good luck."
Hortenson slowly put the phone down and turned to his aid. "Put all units on alert. We're at war."
Televised Address
President Bestron calmyl walks up to a podium situatioed on a stage, the flag of Certe behind him. He clears his throat and begins to speak.
"Minutes ago I recieved word that several of our naval units, while conducting peaceful exercises in international waters, were atacked without provacation by units of the Vladachek Navy. There was great loss of like on our part and this incident has forced me to declare a state of war to exist between our two nations. This unprovoked attack will not go unpunished. We will reign victorius!"
With that he truns and walks off the stage as the Certe National Anthem begins to play. The broadcast switches over to a recruiting drive for the Certe Armed Foces.

PT-29
"Look out! Grenade!" one of the crewman screamed. Than there was a dull "Crump!" as it went off, scattering shrapnel across the bow. Of the 3 man manning the 50mm cannon, 2 were down, and 1 of those was almost certainly dead. The third man, Gunner's Mate Janus, swayed on his feet, blood running down one of his legs as he shoved the 50mm shell heheld into the breach of the cannon and swung it to aim at the boat, which was trying avoid another burst of machine gun fire. Janus jerked the lanyard and the gun roared again, than he turned, stumbling back toward the ammo box that lay on the deck near the gun.
V.S.S. Spitfire, 2 kilometers from the firefight.
"Sir! PT-29 is under attack from a Certian helicopter!"
"Certian bastards...That must be the aircraft we picked up. Get me a lock on him."
"Aye sir!"
The AA missle launcher mounted forward swung upwards, tageting datastreaming into it's electronic brain, activating the protocols that sent a missle screaming off into the night.
Ekleburg Radar Station
The radar operator frowned, than turned to his superior.
"Sir, I'm getting a large signal incoming from Certe airspace."
"What?" The officer looked over the screen, than pulled the telephoen off it's hook.
"We have incoming from Certe. Repeat, we have incoming from Certe. Code 4. This is no drill. Repeat, no drill."
Ekleburg Air Force Base
Pilots where shaken from their beds, dressing as they ran down the corridors to the runway. They sprinted out onto the tarmac, where their planes waited for them. They clambered abord the planes, which had been prepared for just such an evantuality and began prepping for take off.
Confrontation
The small boat dodged another 50mm blast and machine gun fire, trying desperatly to outdistance the PT boat. One of the men fired a burst from his submachinegun, watching as the bullets richochet off of the boat's front.
In the heliocopter the pilot looked in horror at his control panel. The little red light was flashing and there was a constant tone in his ears.
"Incoming missile!" he screamed as he dropped the heliocopter straight down. Seconds later there was an explosion directly above them THe heliocopter went into a flat spin. The pilot realized, with horror, that his tail had been blown off. He struggled with the control yoke. He loked back to the gunner and shouted, "Get out! THis thing is going down!"
The gunner tucked himself into a ball and dived out the door, hittting the water with splash. The pilot looked out of the canopy as the PT boat filled his vision. He shoved the stick all the way forward, trying toget the heliocopter right on top of the boat, then sprinted for the door.
Missile Silo, Undisclosed Location
A hihg-ranking military personage stood in a room filled with consoles and personell. The red phone next to him rang. He picked it up.
"General. This is high command. Alpha-Zulu-triple niner. Five birds in the bush. You are go."
"Right."
He replaced the phone nad shouted to the room: "I want five Hammer Mark ones in the air. Target Vladachek's primary military bases. Go!"
There was a flurry of activity as buttons were pressed and co-ordinates entered. The doors slid back and the tips of missiles slid into the open air.
"Ignition in five...four...three...two...one...we have lift off!"
THere was a roar and five bright objects lifted into the sky.
"General, ETA to targets is 15 minutes."
Skies over the Channel
Three squadrons of F-18s streaked through the sky, inbound for their targets. They wer equipped with Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground missiles. THis would be the first strike.
OOC: The missiles aren't nukes. They're just really long-ranged cruise missiles. 10-tons of explosive.

Official Imperial Communique
To: Certian Leadership Authorities
From: Colonel Aleksander Norovic
We have seen the unprovoked aggression from the armies of the nation of Vladacheck, and are disgusted. The Imperial armies long to lift the Imperial banner and shed blood in the name of the Emperor to preserve the glorious deeds of your promising young nation. We ask that we be granted permission to deploy our forces to your shores so that we may do battle beside your soldiers against the armies of ignorant self-righteousness. Should we be so allowed, we believe that this conflict may be the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship between the Imperial government and that of Certe.
Colonel Aleksander Norovic,
Advisor to Emperor Varus Tiberius Alexei
------------
In the streets of mighty Port Belgrade, beneath the alabaster towers and the iron goliaths, so recently rebuilt out of the devastation from the War of Sarzonian Aggression and the Second Great Civil War, the Imperial army was mobilizing once again. A sea of the grey and red uniforms of the Imperial regulars flowed past the crowds of onlookers, who cheered wildly, overcome with the renewed sense of nationalism the newly coronated Emperor Varus had brought them.
The time was one of great national pride. Having valiantly fought back the SAP invaders and overcome a bloody civil war, the Generian people felt stronger than they had in a long time. A powerful new cause and a foreign campaign were just what the Emperor needed to drive this wave of patriotism home.
The warriors being deployed were a mix of veterans of the battles of the Alexian Planes and the seige Port Belgrade, coupled with new regular divisions that had just finished rigorous training on the frozen borders of the northern dominions. All were eager to heft their sabers once again to shed blood for the Empire.

Televised Response to Certe, by Prime Minister Arthur Berlitz
The Prime Minister stands at a Podium with the sela of hsi office on it. In the background is a Vladachekian flag. "This grossly false accusations by the Empire of Certe are fully denied by the Vladachek government. In fact, my sources tell me that one of our naval patrol boats has been destroyed by an unknown submarine, and that another has been attacked by a helicopter bearing Certian markings. I call upon all civilised and decent nations to stand by Vladachek in her darkest hour. We will defend our country on the beaches, on the streets, and in the fields. We, the people of Vladachek will not be intimidated by these so called 'empires.' In response to these allegations and the declaration of war, all of our armed forces have been mobilised."
PT-29
The PT boat swerved hard to port, narrowly avoiding the falling wreckage as it sped after the small boat ahead of it. Now that there were no obstacles, the larger boat was now quickly catching up. They pulled alongside the smaller boat, machine guns pointing at the occupants "Heave to immediately and place your hands in the air, or we will open fire."

White Stone City, Capital of Certe
As the sun begins to rise the full armed forces of Certe are mobilized. The dark green adn blue uniforms of the Certean regulars march through the city to the train stations to embark for a journey to the port city of Portside. Tanks and LAVs rumble through the streets, some going by road, others by rail. Jet planes fly in formation overhead and recruiting stations are opened as patriotic young men flock to enlist. The war is on.
Confrontation
The men in the boat slowly put their hands above their heads. It was pointless to resist when you were looking down the barrels of a few machine guns.
F-18 Squadrons
"This is Home Base to all units, we are detecting incoming enemy fighters. Be on the alert."
"Copy that Home Base. Moving to engage. We have to clear the way for the follow-up waves and heavy bombers. Red and Blue squadrons, go high. Green squadron go low. Prepare to engae. We are now weapons free."
The F-18s split into two groups, one ascending higher intothe atmosphere, the other dropping lower as they raced towards their targets.
Upper Atmosphere
The five Hammer Mark Ones reach the apex of their flight and began their drop back to earth, the warheads arming. ETA: 5 minutes.
Bidol, Drynarian Capital, Night:
President Darkaxe stands on a lit balcony with a microphone in front of him. Looking down on the assembled people below him, seeing his finest troops lined up in perfect military formation lifted his heart. Behind the soldiers was a mass of civilians, who had been watching the news all night long. Raising his hands for silence the crowds roar dulled.
"I have gathered you all here to announce something." He said as he threw a packet of paper off the balcony, "However, I never was one for speeches. Here is what it comes down to. Certe is in trouble. They are entering a state of war. As their allies we are going to assist them in this time of need. I have the orders for the First Dragoon Army on my desk right now. As soon as I sign them they will be shipped out to Certe to help as best possible. I want you all to know that this is a time of war, so anything you can do to help the country, just do it. People will die, people will come home heroes. That is the nature of war. I just hope that we can be allowed to continue our own expansion without recieving hostilities for doing so."
With that Grunstag turned and walked back inside.

Official Imperial Statement
With the official acknowledgement of open hostilities between the nations of Vladacheck and Certe, the Empire hereby declares her full support for the Certian government.
In response to the increasingly aggravated actions from the Vladacheck government, the Empire officially declares that a state of war shall exist between that nation and Generia. At the moment, the Empire is readying to deploy the first and second reformed Imperial Black Sea assault fleets to the conflict zone in addition to 15,000 Imperial Praetorian Guardsmen and 45,000 Imperial regular infantrymen.
With this declaration the Empire also hereby demands the surrender of the government and armed forces of the rogue state of Vladacheck to the nation of Certe, to be done with according to the pleasure of the Certian government.

The sky was overcast as the Imperial assault fleets set out, cutting through the dark waves of the Generian Black Sea, a stiff wind blowing cool across the deck. The Imperial standard waved from the mast of the flagship, the newly commissioned Emperor Antonius, the first of the Alexei class heavy battleships. Her 24 inch guns were silent for the time being, but when any of her seamen set their eyes on the massive cannons, they could hear the thunder and see the destruction that they would bring upon the enemies of the Emperor.
Darkwood Air Base, Northen Drynarian Wastes, Dawn:
The sun broke bleakly over the distant mountains, not yet warming the frozen wastes that were predominant in the north of Dryniar. Almost as one 25,000 soldiers raised their hands to their eyes to shield out the sun. The soldiers were amassed in their Woodland Camo DCU's and awaiting airlift to Certe. The only sound to be heard for miles was the roar of 100 C-5 aircraft's engines coming to life. The aircraft would be flying non-stop all day and into the night to ensure the safe delivery of these soldiers to Certian soil. Gradually the soldiers boarded the planes and then one by one they took off with their F-16 escorts. The first plane would land in Certe by noon.

Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Melina Hadassah Knight of His Majesty’s Royal Navy gazed into the depths of her coffee cup, rocking the cup gently in her hands to swirl the liquid in it around in circles. Her mind, however, was not focused on the powerful black drink that her cup held, but rather on her current operational orders.
FROM: Adm. J. Linda, NAVCOM
TO: R-Adm (LH). M. Knight, O.F. 1
- GATHER YOUR FLEET AND PROCEDE TO INTERNATIONAL WATERS CLOSE TO THE TERRITORIAL WATERS OF VLADICHEK AND CERTE.
- UPON ARRIVAL, YOU ARE TO HOLD STATION CLOSE BY TO MONITOR ALL FIGHTING BETWEEN ARMED FORCES OF VLADICHEK AND CERTE.
- DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SHORT OF A DIRECT ASSAULT ON FORCES OF THE ROYAL NAVY INTRUDE INTO THE TERRITORIAL WATERS OF CERTE OR VLADICHEK.
- IN THE EVEN OF AN ATTACK UPON YOUR FORCE, YOU ARE GRANTED THE RIGHTS OF SELF DEFENSE BY HIS MAJESTY AND PARLIAMENT.
Her mind was going as she tried to think about all of the possibilities. What if the Certean forces attacked her ships? Her orders told her she could defend her fleet if necessary, so it had probably been deemed likely that they would attack her ships, but she was untried, as was everybody under her command. If attacked, how would they fare?
Her XO had told her they were a day away from their destination, and so her questions of how they would react if attacked might well be answered soon enough.
Attention: all nations aligning themselves against Vladichek
The Empire of Xeraph will not tolerate any interference from nations seeking to interfere with the situation between Vladichek and Certe. Xeraph itself has no interest in the situation aside from letting the two sides battle it out for themselves.
If there is ANY interference from ANY nation, Xeraphian Forces will attack and destroy those forces firing on Vladichekian or Xeraphian forces.
Let it be further known, that Xeraph will not fire on Certe's forces unless fired upon by them.

To the Republic of Vladachek:

The now arrogant and crazed with power Emperor looked over his newest reports. He had fallen behind, and now all the fun stuff was at the bottom. He had hurried through it only to find one report of that genre. He opened it, his excitement now gone and his eyes grew wide, and his smile sinister.
Apparently the nation of Certe had annexed the two islands and now a whole big fuss had come about. Maybe this was what Certe had intended? No, no one is as smart as Kacin, and only he would think of something like that. He ordered a brief meeting to alert his aides, and generals of the up and coming situation and ordered the military to be mobilized. For if necessary, the Dracun Remnant would go to war for it's first time, and under Kacin's banner.
They would support Certe, because although he said it was a peaceful annexation, they all knew it was aggressive and imperialistic. Yet since the Remnant was focusing on expanding it's borders they would support Certe.
Official Message to the President of Certe
We pledge our full support to you if required. We will, with your permission send a taskforce to assist in the defense of your nation. May warrior's fortune smile upon you!
Emperor Kacin
We will help the nation of Vladachek againest the force that wish to destory it. We have readied 250,000 Republic Guardsmen and the 4th Fleet for Vladachek's defense.
A supply of our specialty Arbalest Missiles have arrived onto Certe's shores, along with elite squadrons codenamed "BackWater." These units will follow your orders, Certian government, but know that our priority is not to reinforce your army, so that once you have washed your army up on the shores of Vladachek, you may claim it, but to find more of our heritage in their archives once you have defeated them.
Know that although we are your ally in this, do not expect a degree of loyalty from us. We will back out of this incident if Vladachek agrees to give us access to their archives regarding our great lords.

*As Certe's soldiers run forward and start interrogating the BackWAter, the leader, a cunning apprentice of Nahk named Herrissian, stepped up to the front of the line, and he met with the sargeant.
"What is your business landing military weapons in unsanctioned zones, soldier?" The sargeant asked him.
"That is no business of yours." BP (Black Patriarch) Verika answered, gripping his sword tightly. He was a man of anger, and his sadistic views know no bounds.
"I will not repeat the question. Why did you land in unsanctioned?" The soldier repeated, spit flying wildly from his mouth.
When the last drop of saliva hit the Patriarch's skin, he was furious. No one was allowed to touch him. In return, Verika lunged his sword deep into the sargeant's stomach, and pierced it dashingly apart. Blood seeped out and sprayed all over his armor, but he could care less.
At that moment, the soldiers from Certe drew their weapons, and before any could pull their triggers, BackWAter ducked, and hidden behind them were machine guns latched onto the top of the ships that carried them. Bullet fire sprayed the ground, and very few were left.
Immediately, a captain came to Verika, and he exclaimed. "Did you have to kill them? We need all the help we could get, not fight amongst each other."
Verika answered, "To know our customs captain, you will have to live within our country. And by then, I doubt you would survive." He turned around and withdrew his sword, and went to help his men activate the haulers that carried the missiles.

As the sun rose on the second day, the silhouettes fell from the bleak shadow of night, and were apparent, gliding over the glass sea towards the mountains of a foreign land. Below the decks of the transport vessels, nearly 100,000 trained and bloodthirsty warriors waited, longing to spill the blood of the enemies of the Empire.
On the bridge of the GIS Emperor Antonius, Admiral Nikolai Czerska stared out with stone face at the land of Certe. His hands were clenched firmly behind his back, and an ornamented saber hung at his waist. He was a man of fifty years, and had for long been the rock of the Empire’s navy, one of few competent parties capable of effectively directing an engagement at sea. He had fought valiantly at the Battle of the Crimean Coast, though his luck had run out at the hands of the SAP naval forces. However, his valiant display had led the Empire to put him in charge of the reformed Imperial navy upon its creation, and now the stoic old naval veteran had led the first and second fleet to make war on Vladacheck.

Colonel Aleksander Norovic looked up from the papers spread out upon his desk as an attractive young woman, his secretary, entered the room.
"Sir, you have a telephone call from Emperor Kacin of the Dracun Imperium."
The Colonel nodded as he picked up the red telephone set off to the side of his desk. Though Emperor Kacin had no doubt requested to speak with Emperor Varus, it was rare for the Generian Imperator to recieve calls personally. Most dealings over the telephone were accomplished through proxies, the Imperial advisors.
"What can I do for you, your lordship?"

Excellent. We are currently prepping our own forces for the invasion. They are currently embarking. We will have to annhilate their air forces and navy before we land troops or any attempt of invasion will fail, horribly. OUr Sea nad air forces are already engaing them.

Remove your so-called "help" from our shores. We do not want men who will kill our our own forces as well as our enemies. You have 24 hours to comply.

The armada set sail for not Certe, no but for Vladachek. Over 80,000 troops and more on the way sat in their transports, waiting for the chance to prove themselves to their emperor. Since the massive emigration, only the loyal had stayed in the Remnant. Therefore every man and women was prepared to die for their "Savior", which is what Kacin wanted.
Dozens of carriers, battleships, submarines, destroyers and the rest sailed across the gentle current of the ocean. Fighters zoomed overhead for more show then for actual use. This was all under command of Supreme Commander Drake Carter, a relative of the Emperor.

Meanwhile in the water between Certe & Vladachek
The small sub pack was given the order, and instantly began the hunt to hunt down Vladachek's merchant ships, and their navy. They were under command of Sea General Larkin. Larkin was a merciless men and it was nessecary with his job.
However he ordered 2 of his 3 subs to surface and launch a volley of cruise missiles, "Surfacing Sea General!" The officer announced.
"Excellent, when we surface launch launchers 1-6," Larkin said with a sinister smiled,” And aim for the capital of Vladachek."
Soon enough they surfaced and out shot 12 cruise missiles, 6 from each of the two surfaced subs and they headed straight for the Vladachekian capital.

You truly do not know how our customs are done. However, if Certe believes that they would see a deficit in letting the weak live, then I will remove my apprentice at once. I know see that it was a mistake to bring such a fervour to foreign lands.
As I am speaking of now, my apprentice should be leaving your shores. My missiles are being transported back, as I doubt you would know how to operate them. Plus our language is different.
However, know that although BackWAter is being sent back, I assure you my apprentice will be punished heavily for his crime. He has been told repeatedly not to do so. Also note that though my forces have left, you will see undoubtly in the final assault. Whether I am fighting against or with your forces, we shall see.

The Empire is disappointed by your entry into the war on the losing side, and we do not wish to see your nation so shamed in defeat. Therefore, we are willing to make a deal with you to abandon your support for Vladacheck and leave this conflict to us. Should you agree, a sum of 1,000,000,000,000 American dollars will be tranferred to your government from secure Imperial accounts in Switzerland and the Caribbean.
We hope that you will see reason in our offer.

Nahk's ship silently gladed upon the mirror smooth water, as he observed the battle of Vladachek and Certe, his former apprentice at his feet, cast down in a pool of his own blood.
Looking from the command center of his ship, the erstwhile Cyrius, he dictated the possible movements of the enemy, and although Certe would most likely have an advantage, it seemed that Vladachek's defense would even thing out. It seemed the favour of the war was no one's hands, and that this wholesale slaughter was out of reach for both of them.
"Sir, shall we help Certe?" the naval commander asked.
"Unless they call for our help, we will observe. Our priority is to retrieve any lost information of our past, not to assault a foreign empire." Nahk answered.
"Yes, sir." The commander answered.

Five hours before the surface portion of Observation Force 1 arrived on station, a nuclear attack submarine quietly drifted into the area. It was the Skipjack-Class submarine RSN-005, operating under the command of Commander Frederick Litchenberger. It maintained a speed of only six knots to keep from making too much noise as it sailed in international waters to the south of the channel between Vladachek and Certe.

The armada entered the water between Certe and Vladachek. The Dracun flag soared beautifully in the air. News had come in that the submarines had launched cruise strikes against Vladachek's capital city. Which was all fine and dandy, although it would ruin the surprise possibility of the attack, they would be fearful, either way worked for the Supreme Commander. He looked out the view screen onboard the Freedom Class Super Dreadnaught Vengeance , which was a gift from his cousin, the Emperor. In front of him were 4 more Toldeo Submarines, to his right and left sailed 20 Lion Medium Cruisers, along with another 15 Praefele destroyers, and surrounding the fleet was over 16 Titan carriers. The fleet was vast and more then enough to deal with any threat in the Certe/Vladachek Channel.

Official Declaration of War on Vladacheck, by the Dracun Imperium
It is with great spirit that I, Emperor Kacin, Lord of the Dracun Remnant declare war on the pitiful and soon to crumble nation known as Vladachek. With forces already in position, an invasion shall commence. With only 80,000 Dracun troops, and assorted weapons of war, the invasion might take a well but in the end, it shall become the first colony of the Empire. More reinforcements are being prepared, may a fiery hell rain down upon our enemies!

The Supreme Commander ordered the black flags of war raised on the flag poles. Battlesations were ordered, and the troop transports prepared to make way under heavy guard toward the Vladachekian northern shore. They would land in three waves, in different places along the coast. Each a 1 mile apart, the waves would consist of 26,000 troops a invasion point and they would move quickly. First however, the aircraft carriers launched their Euro Typhoon fighters 2000s into the sky, which escorted more heavy Super Hornets. They made their way to various Vladachek cities. War had come, and the Dracuns intended to win.

IC: Rear Admiral (LH) Knight woke up to a young Royal Navy sailor shaking her shoulders in an attempt to rouse her.
"I'm awake," she told him as she pulled herself out of her rack and began getting dressed. If it was important enough that they had woken her up, it had to be important enough for her to get dressed.
He nodded and stepped back.
"Ma'am, Captain Villela sends his compliments and has instructed me to inform you that we have arrived on station," he said.
Knight looked up at the sailor for a moment and blinked in confusion before her mind caught up with things. Captain Andrew Villela was her Chief of Staff and her XO.
"Very well," she said. "My compliments to Captain Villela, and inform him that I will be joining him shortly."
"Right away, Ma'am," the sailor responded, then saluted and left.
Vladachek Army Depot
A Sahraian C-130 touched down on a small airstrip located on an isolated Vladachek Army Depot. Nervous Vladacheck soldiers watched as the four-egined-turbo-prop taxied to an extremly tiny terminal, no bigger the a highway side gas station. Ground crews secured the aircraft as its engines spun down and the ramp lowered. The pilots of the plae exited out a side hatch, while Sahraian army engineers and members of The Sahraian Elite & Tactical Warfare Force exited via the cargo ramp. They were followed by a Willys Jeep. After the jeep came, among other things, military crates, water scooters, and wet suits.
Major Gerone Tigris marched into the terminal, where he was met by a cadre of Vladachek Officers. They stood in a delta, organized by rank. The highest ranking officer, Brigadier General Mulin Voles, spoke in an urgent tone
"We need to get into the briefing room," he sounded like his wife was in labor. "we have very little time to use."
They walked through the base. Every where Tigris looked, there was activity. Many of the storage buildings were being emptied, their contents loaded into trucks. The ocassional armoured APC would roll by, or in front of them. A Vladachek helicopter flew overhead, Tigris couldn't identify it. They reached a small concreate box with a door. Once the door was opened, it revealed a a stairwell that went done several flights.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Tigris started down those metal grate stairs as the General prompted him.

Ready all forward torpedo tubes and relay orders to the Nemo and the Nautilus to do the same. These bastards won't know what hit 'em"
"Torpedos loaded, firing solutions locked in."
"Fire."
THe Torpedos were away, streaking through the water towards the vulnerable carriers like bullets from a gun. The war had begun.

The carrier Osprey, surrounded by her 14 destroyer escorts and 6 crusiers, steamed north. They were to take up station here and attempt to prevent any and all landings on this side of the island.

Admiral Nikolai Czerska recieved the electronic situation update on the bridge of the Emperor Antonius. The Dracun Imperium had fired the first shot, and now the dance was on. The Imperial assault fleets were to move south through the channel and initiate an assault on the southern coast of Vladacheck. The Vladacheck airforce had also been reported to be mobilizing in strength to repel an assault. The Empire would do her part in bringing it down.
On the decks of the three Imperial nuclear supercarriers, the Anja, Natasha, and Seranja the Imperial pilots scrambled to the cockpits of the F-78 Sokols and the recently implemented GIF-1s. With this equipment, the Vladacheck airforce would fall to her knees.
The aircraft rocketed off into the midday sun, bound for military targets on the southern coast.

Air Commander Antilles, a veteran commander watched his squadrons do their thing, attacking. It was quite a beautiful sight, explosions sounded everywhere and it was deafening. "Incoming enemy aircraft!" One of the many pilots of a super hornet announced.
Antilles looked, and nodded, they were definitely going to get some action, Antilles smiled. While the super hornets had all but emptied their ammo, the Euro Typhoon Fighters had not. " Escort Squads form up in individual wedge squadrons, on my mark fire." A chorus of clicks responded. Antilles got a lock on a fighter and heard the bing of a target lock, "Open fire!" Dozens of missiles zoomed into the sky, their flames burning behind.

Explosions rocked the water, as two carriers were hit, along with a few destroyers. Two destroyers were severely damaged at first look, along with the two carriers. Another destroyer sunk.
The subs below didn't wait for orders, they sprung into action, finding the source of the enemy they turned and went for them. They arrived a few moments later and hoping they weren’t noticed fire their own salvo of torps right at the enemy subs.
(OoC: Thank god I came in a bit early...phew...)
The Cyrius rerouted course, as flashings of light dawned upon them. The radar was eschew with information, and the waves rippled violently, as the capital-class battleship hulled itself in the sea, still and quiet, with a ghostly emanance. The dark clouds filled with flashes of sharp light, and the windows tried vainly to block out the defeaning roar of the enemy ships, pounding each other heavily. Turning his crippled head to the radar control center, Nahk checked the routing radar signals.
"What news do you have for me?" He asked quarily, as his eyes dashed across the screen.
"A small invasion class manuever, lord." The naval captain answered, his hat tipped slightly to refract the blissful rays.
"Certe is employing infantry to land at multiple locations. Hammer MK. 1 weapons dropped upon the lower area of the islands and the coast. Enemy troops moving out to engage." The strategist responded again.
"No," Nahk replied softly, as he gazed closer at the windows, "it's something else. Someone is making another move." He looked carefully at it, until he finally responded; "Move the vessel to the southeast border of deep waters, then cross the units A3 and B5 at the center of grid location 12. Deploy the birds." Nahk answered, his determination rising.
As the massive winged fighters began to ready themselves, their power began to dissipate, and their secondary fuel cut off by some unknown source. Nahk, furious, yelled out, "Arborgard?!?! Show yourself!"
As he shrieked menacingly, the clavid face and claw-like crown of the warlord king appeared on a giant screen. "You are not to harm anyone." He answered, his voice detectable of authority.
"And why not?" Nahk asked questionably, his tone rising.
"Because they do not trust us because of your [I]flawed apprentice. Perhaps, if you send out aid to them again, they will accept it. Remember, our goal is economic stability, archival retrieval and to aid our allies, which I have mentioned many times before; they are similiar to us." He answered fruitfully.
"You are becoming untrustworthy, old friend." Nahk threatened.
"You know perfectly well that my deception is what made me king, and that my cunning is what kept you alive, Territurari." The king Arborgard answered.
"Very well. I will send out messages to them, but do not expect another welcome, if they are as us." Nahk answered, as the Cyrius began to submerge quickly, and the crew felt all the pressure of the war.
To Certe,
I have sent you this message before, and I am quite certain you will most likely deny it this time. However, for the King I will ask you once again. I have infantry attachments ready, with all the matter of our missiles.
Know that it was due to my apprentice's fault that you lost many men, but also know that they are at peace, as my apprentice is dead. [I]BackWAter is dissolved, and the only group left to help you is one of our greatest, and most trustworthy; Zealotry.

The squadorns began to settle back into formation as the F-18s that had been promised swept up onto their left side. "Alrgith boys, let's give 'em back some of their own medicine. Fire at will!"

The Reinforcement fleet was well on it's way. It however was comprised more of ships then of troops. Over another 40 ships had been dispatched to blockade the northern Channel, and prevent any enemy reinforcements from arriving. Sea General Ulysses Manverio watched from the bridge of the Ultra Carrier Avenger. His fleet was majestic as well as powerful. His fleet, unlike the Supreme Commander's blunder, was organized with the subs around, but they were however sea squid submarines. Regarding recent acts of hostility from the nation of Xeraph, the Empire has no choice but to authorize a declaration of war. Additional Imperial assets are undergoing mobilization as we speak.

As the fleets cut their way through the waves towards the southern entrance to the channel, the Imperial cruisers armed a payload of cruise missiles. With a roar, 600 of the weapons exploded from the decks of the Imperial ships, targetting SAM sites and shore batteries to clear the way for an aerial campaign and eventual invasion.

An officer watched from his camoflaged position, amazed at the number of ships he could see on the water, the wakes left by the landing craft were countless. How on earth could they hope to survive this? He turned to his men, hoping to appear confident "Alright, let 'em come inland, than cut them off and chew 'em apart. Something was wrong; General Elkins looked over the battlefield and ordered a halt. The sounds of gun fire stopped, and the general observed the area. "They are drawing us in; let's fall for their little trap, march forward!" He ordered and thousands of troops ran forward guns blazing.

The officer watched as thousands of troops ran forward, firing their guns at nothing. "Why are they wasting their ammo?" he wondered aloud. Oh well. Time to spring the trap. He motioned his troops to prepare to fire, smiling as he lined up a shot with his rifle.
On the flanks of the landing, the 13th armored Cav, w3ith it's 7,500 men and Bradley AFVs, was preparing to engage. On the other flank, thd 79th Armored Division, 200 Leopard 2A6 tanks, supported by the infantry 33rd Division rumbled forward, mowing into the flank of the oncoming Dracun troops with machine guns and cannons blazing.
The officer revcieved the order to open fire and relayed it to his men, and firing began to crackle up and down the MLR. MG3s, G33 assault rifles, rifle grenades, mortars, and artillery poured onto the advancing enemy.

The General smiled as they pounced their trap, "Just as I suspected... tsk tsk tsk, order an air strike!" The call went through as explosions rocked the ground. Dozens of Super Hornets zoomed over head attacking and harassing the artillery and heavy weapons.
Meanwhile down the beach however, the rest of the troops were landing, over 80,000 Troops, tanks, and artillery pieces. The General over here, General Rieken smiled. "Yes Elkins played his part fluidly, launch artillery strikes!" Dozens of missiles flew into air, as the missile artillery was shot off.
The bridge clunked loudly with the metal of his new apprentice, a cunning warrior named Kalius. She wore a brasive armour, and a long sash of hair, as she stood beside Nahk, in respect of his presence.
"The war is burning fast." Nahk answered.
"The enemy is ready. They are preapring their final assault." Kalius answered.
As they talked, a sleek fighter reared towards them, and readied their weapons. The General however, commanded them to pacify the weapons systems. Surely enough, as that happened, the jet flew past above them, and left to battle the others.
"I am bored, master." Kalius answered. Nahk's jaw twitched in anger, as his apprentice was impatient.

The Imperial assault fleets had cut south through the channel, and were beginning to establish the blockade of the southern entrance. Imperial SSNs lurked silently beneath the waves, cutting a patrol back and forth across the wide entryway. The Two Imperial battleships, the Emperor Antonius and the [i]Emperor Kreschnev[/b], accompanied by seven Imperial pocket battleships began moving into position to begin a coatal bombardment after the second Imperial missile barrage.
The Imperial destroyers and cruisers meanwhile armed a second volley of cruise missiles, a total of 136, and fired their ordinance at remaining enemy SAM and shore batteries. Above, a second wave of Imperial GIF-1s moved in to saturate the Imperial landing zones.
Aboard the massive Imperial transport vessels, the Praetorians and RI readied themselves for war.

Good day, Major. The Empire is pleased that you have decided upon negotiation as a viable strategy, though we must regretfully inform you that we find a lump sum to be not stimulating enough an offer. However, we will not end the discussion here. Indeed we shall add to it.
The Empire will declare an end to hostilities towards your nation should you grant us the following:
-A total of one quarter the area of your northern coastal regions, to be transformed into an Imperial colonial province
-12,000 Individuals, 6,000 male and 6,000 female in good physical condition and between the ages of 17 and 24 as prisoners and official property of the Imperial government, to be done with according to Imperial will.
Should you meet our very generous and reasonable demands, we shall withdraw immediately from the theater, and leave you and Certe to work out your differences as you please.

As the last missile slammed into her target on the shores of Vladacheck, the Imperial Praetorian Guard readied themselves for the invasion. Veterans of the brutal combat against Sarzonian forces on the Alexian Plains, these men were no strangers to war and death. Bred for war and trained from a young age in the arts of slaughter, the Imperial Praetorian Guard was the pinnacle of Generian military prowess and ferocity.
Indoctrinated in the nobility of shedding blood for the Emperor, the Praetorians would face death head on, fearless and with a thirst for the blood of their enemies. It mattered not to these beasts who the enemy was or what transgressions they were guilty of. If they stood against the Imperial banner, they would pay dearly.
As the guns of the dozen battleships continued to shell the coast, the first wave of Praetorians boarded the moderately sized hovercraft landing vehicles deployed by the enormous Imperial transport vessels. With a roar, the landing craft burst forth, towards the shore, sailors manning the heavy machine guns along her stern. In the belly of the vehicles, the Praetorians checked their heavy GIR-37 assault rifles. Armored from head to toe, and bearing the emblem of the Imperial throne emblazoned on their helmets and uniforms, they were an imposing sight.
As the first batch of landing craft reached the shore, pulling up onto the sand, the massive steel doors slammed open, and the forces of the Empire poured forth. With a great warcry, the Praetorians opened fire on the remaining shore defenses as the Imperial standard rushed forward. RM-30 'Emperor' heavy battle tanks rumbled off of several landing craft in support of the infantry force. Artillery shells fell like rain further inland, and GIF-1s rocketed overhead.
The Imperial saber had come to Vladacheck, and now the world held its breath.

It seemed that war had come suddenly upon the normally peaceful nation. But, it was still war. Over the sound of oncoming tanks and aircraft, a faint rumble, like thunder was heard. Than death rained on the beach. 105mm shells slammed into the beach head as artillery further inland pounded the beach. The Vladachekians, outgunned and out manned, were fighting a defensive war. They were going to bleed the enemy to death.

As the artillery shells began to fall, the Imperial Praetorians maintained their headlong charge towards the ridges at the end of the beach, where they would seek cover until air support could take care of the Vladacheckian emplacements.
Imperial satellites had located the location of several enemy emplacements that were currently assaulting the invasion force on the beach. Several flights of F-78s in the area were redirected from their patrols to move in and eliminate the harassing artillery.
With the roar of supersonic engines splitting the blue sky, the Imperial aircraft rocketed in over the jungles and ridges off the southern coast. As the aircraft came in range, they unleashed a hail of ASMs at the enemy emplacements from high above the Earth. A second and third wave meanwhile took to the skies to take care of any additional threats.
A fourth wave would penetrate towards the southern Vladacheckian cities, and unleash hell on the hapless citizens, lowering morale and brining a swifter end to the campaign. The Empire was not known to often distinguish between civilian and military targets, and as far as the Imperial Military Command was concerned, if they were born in-country, then they were as much a threat as a tank. Coupled with a massive Imperial propaganda export, this doctrine could prove exceptionally effective against an outgunned enemy.
The Imperial Military High Command had exected that the Vladacheckians would turn to a campaign of firing withdrawal and later guerilla warfare when faced with such overwhelming odds, and so were not terribly surprised when they recieved word that the beach had been undefended. A guerilla campaign was often the factor that could turn a war into a quagmire. Still, the Empire was no stranger to war, and she had a few tricks of her own up her sleeve.
In the streets of Generia City, Alexium, and Sofia, the immense video screens that hung from the sides of skyscrapers in all Imperial major cities were busy broadcasting footage of the Imperial bombardment and the recent shore landings. Imperial propaganda blared from loudspeakers, broadcasting news of the "glorious campaign against the unwashed communist dogs of Vladacheck."

"Sir, it was an order made by the General on the beach, he didn't want to risk-"

Public announcment from the Government of Vladachek, as read by Prime Minister Arthur Berlitz
The Prime Minsiter sits in a chair in front of a table. He is dressed in civilian clothing.
"I have in front of me an offical statement made by my government, which I shall read as directed by the Parliament. As the country of Vladachek has been unlawfully assaulted by superior forces, and since the Vladacgekian people have no hope of victory, and an extended war would only cause further unnessecary death and destrucion...the government has ordered all soldiers of the Vladachekian Armed Forces to lay down their arms and go peacefully into captivity. An offical surrender ceremony will take place in the near future, on a date set by the leaders of the victorious armies."
Prime Minister Berlitz lays down the piece of paper and looks into the cameras that are filiming him "I have resigned, effectively immediately, from the position of prime minister in protest of this descision."
He stands and gives a salute as the Vladachekian national anthem plays and the picture fades to 2 very surprised looking newscasters.
Secret Orders to all Members of the Vladachekian Armed Forces (Secret IC)
You are hereby ordered to hide and secure as many small arms as possible, in the event that they will be used in the future. The Prime Minister's announcement had been broadcasted repeatedly throughout the day, intermixed with footage of Imperial soldiers moving in to secure Vladacheckian cities and government buildings. Impromptu parades filled the streets of the Imperial cities as an overjoyed populace basked in the moment of peaked nationalism.
Aboard the GIS Emperor Antonius, General Slobodov Cjerskyoi grinned as he raised the glass of champagne before the small group of officers that had gathered in the vessel's large Captain's quarters to celebrate the quick victory.
"Brothers, today we add another great victory to that long list! Today is yet another testament to the strength of the Imperial armies, and a warning to all those sons of bitches with the balls to stand against 'em. To Generia!"
The toast was echoed, and the General drained his glass. An aid appeared beside him and whispered into his ear.
"General, sir, the Imperial Mobile Infantry and Armored divisions are moving in to secure the southern cities as we speak. Do you ahve any additional orders?"
The General nodded.
"Good, good. Send my personal congratulations. Once the cities are completely secured, tell them to follow standard procedure. The boys deserve their reward, even after a short campaign."
--------------
Standard procedure was in effect the mass looting of all conquered Imperial territories. Once the Imperial standard flew proudly over the government headquarters' in the various southern cities, the Imperial army would have a veritable field day.
In the smaller cities, this had already begun as night fell. Imperial soldiers rushed through the streets, breaking into homes and businesses, taking everything of value, and firing at anyone who protested. Laughing uproariously, the Imperial soldiers carried off women, the wives and daughters of Vladacheckian government officers and soldiers, and set fire indiscriminately to homes and offices.
The flames licked the black sky, as the sounds of mirth drifted upwards and Welcome to the Jungle blared over the city loudspeakers and mobile propaganda vehicles that sat parked in the street. The campaign had ended in victory, and now the time for raucous celebration had come.

The Northern Cities
As the Dracuns moved from the beach to the cities they brought terror to all once the Dracuns had treated their POWs with respect... no longer. The new military code of conduct had specifically ordered looting, killing and such. They would strike fear into their new subjects, any means nessecary. They ran through the streets, shooting and setting aflame anything they could get their hands on, "Warranted Searches" commenced in buildings, and housing throughout the northern cities. The Soldiers screamed victory and they looked forward to a successful "occupation" of the territory, "till it was fit to rule itself again".
Northern Vladacheck
Enemy occupation became weakened, as they believed they had taken over the area for sure. However, as their soldiers gazed famishly into the dusty sunlight, and they savoured their sweet and well earned victory, they lost their guard.
The night was tense, and the air frigid near the sea. The sun has just set, and the stars had just crept past the silvery trees. And as the soldiers and the wepaonry laid dormant, a creeping mass floated towards.
Aboard the bridge of the flagship Cyrius, Nahk issued his commands. "Launch the entire fleet. Send forth all powers to the left wing, and maintain aircraft focus on the right wing. I want air superiority immediately. The arbalest missiles will be launched now. Kalius," he answered, as his young apprentice stood behind him.
"Yes, lord." She claimed.
"Lead the charge against the ground troops." Nahk answered, as she hurried to the amphibious carriers.
***
The sky was silent, but as the patrolling officer glazed his steps around, he saw an eerie set of lights flash in the sky, until he he focused carefully, and saw, much more delapitating, the twinkling lights turn to needles, and then, missiles.
The sky was on fire. The missiles shattered acre by acre of enemy land, and weaponry and manpower was incinerated quickly, their bodies crippled to dust. Swarms of enemy fighter planes appeared out of nowhere, their missiles and machine guns blazing violently in organized fashion. Spray of lead of shot around, and mountains of metal sheered its way through the occupation.
As the enemy readied itself, battleship barrages had them effectively pinned down, enemy shells scarring their base. Within nearly a half-hour, transports arrived, and they ceased Arbalest fire, and artillery bombardment. Leading the infantry was Nahk's own apprentice, and she valiantly sped forth, yelling loudly, "To the greatness of the king!" before her men poured out of the transports, and they flooded in unmolested.
Within hours, the occupation fell, and although the countryside was damaged, their losses were minimal, and their defense of the southern cities was in motion. Hopefully they could move before the enemy knew their arrival.
Meanwhile, in the ancient city of Sirun...
"At last, all of my greatest have come together to full circle at my request." Arborgard answered, his draped robes, dangling magnificently, as he peered around the audience.
"We have been summoned by you, Arborgard. What is your wish?" Serrin asked.
"You enjoyed your trip to foreign lands. Correct?" The king responded.
"How did you know?" She asked, surprised.
"I know many things. Don't underestimate me." Arborgard answered. "A fleet of many men and women have been sent to quell uprisings that may prove a problem to Certe, commanded by the Red Patriarch. However, we made a mistake, and our forces were banished. Now, our retaliation is at full circle. We have been given access to Vladachek's archives. But there is an obstacle." Arborgard answered.
"What obstacle is that my lord?" Saerus asked prudently.
"Nahk himself. If he is killed again, then my efforts of rejeuvenating him were for naught. Ashili, you are a great daughter of the empire, a fleeting power before the masses. Take your fleet, and bring swift upon our foes. Defend Nahk's fleet, while he prepares for the stroke."
"I will be prepared immediately." Ashili answered, as she strode off.
Even as the war waged on another corner of the world, another fleet was getting ready, to meet enemies in battle.
Vladachekian Capital
Once news of the surrender had reached President Bestron he had broken out the champagne and ordered his troops to secure the capital. Moving up from the south, and bypassing looting Imperial Troops, they had entered the capital of Vladachek and begun securing it. Vladachekian POWs were being hauled to the rear in trucks and Certean Navy warships entered the harbor. Berston himself arrived by jet a few hours later. As he landed an aide handed him a intelligence report. "Sir, we have reports that beoth Imperial and Dracun troops are looting, killing, and burning indiscriminately. We also have reports taht Jenrak is begiing an offensive."
"Damn. Have they no rules of warfare? Send a message to the Dracuns. They seem to be doing the worst damage...As for Jenrak...we'll deal with them in short while."
"At once sir."
He collected himself and stepped onto the gangway of the airplane. He was met by a cheering group of Certean soliders, some firing their weapons into the air. A flight of jets flew overhead in diamond formation, wing smoke trailing them. He waved to the crowd and made his way to the Parliamentry building. It was time for a speech.

"To death. But they survived?" Arborgard asked.
"Yes, they will survive, they will live past this insurgence of power, but fate spares them to banish them to a greater pain." Enkur answered again.
"What pain?"
"The fleets of their ships will burn all in their path, and their fire will scorch and scar the earth they swore to protect. They will all their enemies, but the victor is truly neither."
"Will Vladachek be free? Will their past be intact, for their future?"
"It is the matter of whose perception triumphs."
"What do you mean, great lord?"
"If Vladachek wins this war, and their defenses hold, and all of their power stays with them, then Certe will no doubt learn from this lesson and wage a greater war, a war of deathly proportions. However, if Vladachek falls, then the people who are taken will revolt in time, and their suffering upon the kingdom will be an echo of this once again."
"What should I do?"
"Fight them. There is no peace in times of war. A war is a test of strength, and cunning. Do not adhere to rules of conduct in mass slaughter, youngest of my sons. Do what you must to achieve, because if you battle with honor, then you will have wrought more death and pain then what you would have if you had done what was neccessary."
The spirit had concided, and the chamber was filled with an creeping silence once more.
*************************
The smogish water rippled carefully, as the south of Valadachek was in motion. The second offensive was quiet, as the fleet of Ashili soared closer to the mainland. Aboard her own flagship, the Purge, she began a swift stroke of espionage.
"I want lurker ships to follow the transports to the mainland. Send out heavy flashes, and follow them with my carriers. Deploy the factories, and keep them protected under the front wing." Ashili demanded, as she watched from the Purge.
"Mistress, the Lord Saerus has sent a message." A naval officer retorted.
"Display." She commanded. As the flickering message brought through, the young, marked face of the General Saerus answered, clutching a bottle of water in his right hand.
"Ashili, Arborgard's apprentice will be coming to this war himself. He will be arriving in his flagship, and his own fleet." Saerus answered.
"IS HE MAD?!?!" Ashili demanded.
"He is not mad. I do no doubt his skills, since he single-handedly suppressed all other enemies before. Remember?" Saerus exclaimed.
"I remember. What about you?"
"I have to stay here. In the meantime, the king is spending more time in seclusion. I believe power is rotting his common sense."
"It is not power. It is our anscestor."
"What?"
"Never mind what I said. This war is our priority." The message was shut.
As the sun shot over the sky, a giant array of flash missiles soared above the enemy lines. The occupation of the southern cities was strong, and the soldiers disciplined, but they did not know how to 'hunt' like the soldiers of Jenrak. As they fired at the missiles, mistaken for bombs, they suffered severe optical damage, and only a few could see, if not at all.
Transports dropped out onto the beaches, and the soldiers flooded out aggressively. The hunters began searching for their prey.
As the soldiers were blinded, the legions of Ashili swept north, along the eastern coast, where the darkness protected them, and the scarred blackness of the lands gave them a distinct stench.
"I want dissention among their ranks, now." Ashili ordered.
As the enemy infantry looted the captured cities and arsoning their buildings, they welcomed what seemed to be reinforcements. However, as they found out, hours later, that the soldiers were merely wolves in sheeps clothing.
Meanwhile, in the highlands (or lack thereof) of Vladachek, Nahk's men pushed forwards, supported heavily by aircraft, dragging along the power of the Swarm, and the ancient teachings of war from their lords. They were carrying a massive trebuchet, according to their heritage. Certe would not be prepared for the attack Nahk had in mind.

Message to the Occupying Forces of the Dracun Imperium and teh Generic Empire
We have surrendered to you, and now you callously abuse our civilians. We must demand that you cease at once.
OOC: Dracun Imperium, I assume you're talking about my recent post, not the surprise one, since the surprise one didn't seem like godmoding to me. So, in recognition, I've put on another part. Hopefully you're happy with this.
"It seems that the enemy was stronger than we believed." The Patriarch answered, as his men fell quickly to an unsuspecting spray of bullets. "An ambush. Is it possible they were expecting her?" He queried from his flagship, drifting hauntingly from the edge of the borders.
"It might be, sir, but they've planned it out to the greatest extent. They shouldn't have known that the Matriarch was coming." The captain answered.
"She has much to learn." Nahk answered angrily, his supports hissing and vibrating threateningly. "I will launch my own trap. Bring the assault forces - Zealots 1 and 2, to the north again. Close the trap with a strike team at checkpoints A6 and B2. Launch the Lurkers at the south. Ready the missiles. I will contact the Matriarch."
"Yes, sir." The captain answered.
He flicked on a blue switch, and the flickering ligts appeared on the screen for a few moments. In a couple minutes, the un-expecting face of Ashili warped up on the screens.
"What do you want?" she demanded precariously.
"Stop the Hunters. The trap is failed. They are onto yours - and my - movements more actively since the assault. Take the eastern borders, do whatever you can to stop them. Hold your position." Nahk demanded.
"Alright, but don't expect positive results." She retorted, as she flickered off the screen.
"Launch the second trap." He demanded, "Hopefully this time she doesn't get in our way."
OOC: To Dracun Imperium...
That should fix it. My deception failed, and some of my elite guys are killed. That'd the even the score out. But I still have my treb, you can't deny that. Also, if you aren't complaining about my recent post, and about my surprise attack post, then from what I see, it's not godmoding. Obviously it looks like it, since the occupation falls within a short period of time with minimal losses, but then again, my general did deploy his entire fleet, which means you know the exact size, and that it was in surprise, and also I bombarded quite a bit before pushing forwards with ground troops. Plus, it's worked in history before.

Official Imperial Communique
To: Dracun Occupation Authorities
From: General Slobodov Cjerskyoi
As the great Imperial standards wave over the cities of our once callous fallen enemy, I must extend our congratulations to you for an honorable and swift victory. Also, on behalf of Lord Varus, I extend an invitation to you to accompany me to the Vladacheckian capital to discuss terms for a formal alliance. Afterwards, we may begin the official distribution of captured territories and begin to set up borders and boundaries between our new colonial lands.
General Slobodov Cjerskyoi,
Head of Imperial Occupation Authority
----------
As the sun rose high on the third day, a semblance of order had returned to the Imperial army. Specific units assigned to continue an organized looting of the conquered territories. Other Imperial divisions were beginning the true occupation of the cities, and the establishment of what would become an Imperial puppet government. For the time being, martial law was in effect, and a curfew imposed for 5PM.
Throughout the day, Imperial C-130 cargo aircraft began landing at secured Vladacheckian airports, turned military compounds, unloading supplies, soldiers, and an assortment of GIIS and GICE agents. The workings for a provincial Civil Enforcement bureau were beginning to come togethor.
((OOC: GICE, or Generian Imperial Civil Enforcement, is the official name for the enigmatic and feared Imperial secret police agency. GIIS is the multi-branch Imperial Intelligence agency.))

To the General Slobodov Cjerskyoi
I accept with great honor and pride. Today marks a great day in our great nations, for today not only marks the beggining of the Dracun Empire, but also an alliance that will make others tremble.
General Elkins, Head of the Occupation of Vladachek
To Certe
They had surrendered, that is quite correct, and unless you wish to suffer the same fate, I suggest that you keep your mouth silence
General Elkins, Head of the Occupation of Vladachek
OOC:Explanations...
All right, Dracun Imperium, I'll answer your questions. The first is what tech I am.
-I'm a present tech, as it should be. I have no lasers, no fancy blaster weapons, no robots, etc. All of my weapons are capable of being reproduced in the technology we have today. The treb, well, let's just say I like old school.
Second question is, how did my fleet get there so fast?
-Well, if you read my posts (which I highly doubt anybody did), my fleet was there the whole time. Suffice to say, my entire army is split up into five sectors, each with their own commander. My fleet, the fleet that attacked your occupation and was ignored, was there the entire time, just drifting aimlessly on the water. If you read my posts, you should have seen that it was there. After Certe banished my forces, I didn't send my ships back; I made them stay, and they stayed. I even put up warnings to people not to attack my neutrally passive forces.
How did your troops land so fast?
Well, the landing I chose was reduced to a certain rubble, thanks to excessive battleship bombardment. Suffice to say; there wasn't much terrain left. It doesn't take long to cover land in short time. My land forces were pushed to an extreme. It is quite possible. It happened before in real life.
What are these missiles you speak of?
Ah, yes. My Arbalests. I assure you; there is nothing special about them. I merely changed and altered their design to fit my army's style of attack. They're not that different from a cruise missile, only the firepower is toned down to make it more accurate. Why did they cause so much wanton mayhem? It was the sheer number of missiles I launched. It is not impossible either; I said I launched my own missiles: no other, so it would be quite possible if I say, had nothing but this for missiles, which from my post, seems like I obviously did use nothing else.
Hope you're happy with my response. I assure you, this does not look like godmoding to me. However...

The windows were full of sun glare, as the conquered lands of Vladachek was ripped asunder. The navy had failed in their attempt at aid, but it did not matter anymore.
"Assemble the fleet. We are preparing the final offensive." Nahk answered profusedly.
"But lord, if we do, then 1/5 of the nation's fleet shall be destroyed." The naval captain retorted. "To fight such large and powerful enemies is foolhardy."
"I do not want to fight the soldiers of the enemy." Nahk replied, his eyes showing a delicate hiss of anger. "I want to make sure that what they have captured is nothing more than a wasteland."
"Sir, our priority is to defend the nation. If we purposely destroy it then what use will it be? They will have fought for nothing!" The captain answered.
"What would you have do then?" the Patriarch queried.
"Return now, Patriarch." A static voice answered across the room, the radios abuzz with sound.
"What?" he asked.
"I said, return now." The voice said, with a tone of finality. "I have risked too much to have you die again Nahk. I want you to return to Jenrak immediately. Captain," the voice answered, as the naval captain straightened himself, "Prepare the entire fleet. We are going to launch a final assault upon the enemy. If we have failed, then hopefully our ruins will weaken them enough for future generations to destroy them. If we succeed, then our goal is finished." the static voice imperiously control commanded.
The Cyrius drifted back homeland, a journey that would take many days and nights, as the men and women under Nahk's previous command readied for a final assault.

A small road in southern Vladachek
A patrol of Generic Empire troops rumbled down the road in a truck, unaware of their impending doom. Up ahead, around a bend in the road, a small group of men were setting up one of the many MG3s that had been saved by the army of Vladachek. All the men were former members of the armed forces and were preparing to strike a blow against the invading soldiers. As the patrol turned the corner, the machine gun opened fire, accompanied by the crack of small arms fire, and even the dull "crump" of a grenade launcher.

Secret IC, Eastern Vladachekian Coast:
The submarine Colorado glided through the waters off of Vladachek's eastern coast. Moving slow and deep, the submarine moved as close as it could to the coastline without risking detection by occupation forces. This was a relatively empty spot on the map, but there was no need to be careless.
The Colorado had been a ballistic missile submarine, but had been converted into a special-forces delivery vessel, by replacing the missile tubes with a series of pressurization chambers and airlocks, permitting SCUBA divers to exit the sub at depths of up to one hundred meters. That was exactly what they were doing now.
One of the silo doors opened, and eight divers departed the dark, cramped silo for the cold of open water. Once they were clear and had their equipment, the door closed and the submarine descended into the water until it disappeared into the black.
The divers swam toward shore, ascending slowly, so as to avoid the bends. Once they reached the shoreline, they found a large rock about ten meters out, and using a small shovel, buried much of their SCUBA gear underneath it. With that done, they completed the last stretch and came ashore (http://www.imaging1.com/gallery/images/US%20Navy%20Seals.jpg). Hiding behind rocks and driftwood, they removed their drysuits and buried them.
After a moment, SEAL Team Four was moving inland, their night-vision goggles giving them perfect sight in the dark of night.

"Yes General!" He saluted and marched out the office.

"The General's idea is quite excellent, give him full support." The Emperor told the officer who had brought the message to him.
"Your orders shall be relayed." The officer bowed and withdrew from the grand throne room of the Emperor.

Various Cities of Northern Vladachek
Vladachekian males started to disappear, dozens... maybe even hundreds. There would be a knock on the door, and they would be gone. As this began rebel attacks began occurring in the cities, gun fights between Dracun Soldiers and now identified rebels.
The rebels did what ever they could to cause damage, many times killing their own Vladachekians. Explosions rocked the cities at least once a day it was a terrible time. However the Dracunian seemed now to be fighting for the Vlacheckian's protection.
OOC: There not real rebels, but really kidnapped Vladachekians being told that they could save Vladachek by assaulting the cities. They are in fact Dracun controlled rebels.
As the SEALs moved inland, a small light flashed in the distance, signalling the team. The VLA was waiting for them.
"Down!" ordered Captain Lewis when he spotted the light. The team dropped behind whatever cover they could find, and began scanning the area around them, weapons ready.
Lewis whispered to Sergeant Lefkowitz, "Do you think they're VLA?"
"Maybe. They must have spotted us with NVGs, does the VLA have those?"
"I would imagine so. Smalls!"
Private David Smalls, the team's sniper, glanced quickly at the captain to show he heard him, and then went back to peering through the scope of his rifle.
"Smalls, can you see anything?"
"Yeah, a few soldiers. I don't think they can see us, but they know we're here. They aren't wearing Dracun uniforms...I don't think they're Generian either. Could be Certian troops."
"Private...Would occupation troops signal a commando team sneaking through the woods?"
"Uh...good point, Captain." Lewis grinned. Then he took his small penlight, and raised it over the log he was crouched behind, and signalled in Morse Code:
Vladachekian? We are friends.

General Cjerskyoi’s converted commercial jet touched down in the former International Airport of the Vladacheckian capital city. Awaiting him as he stepped off of the plane was a flotilla of Imperial armored IFVs, all identical and unmarked save for the Imperial emblem on the side panels. The General and his bodyguard of eight Imperial White Gaurdsmen stepped into the rear of one of the vehicles, and the convoy departed.
Arriving in front of the former capitol building, the General and his guards disembarked and walked through the front door. Imperial Praetorians patrolled the grounds, and the streets surrounding the building had been closed off. Heavy air cover in the form of Imperial GH-2 gunships rumbled overhead.
Inside, a wooden table had been set up, and on it sat the document that represented the soon to be made official alliance between the Imperial government and the Dracun Imperium.

The GICE agents working with GIIS and military authorities in the past weeks had established a headquarters in a fortified former military compound just outside the largest southern Vladacheckian city. GICE outposts were also in place and functioning in each of the Imperial occupied cities, monitoring transmissions, phone calls, and individual citizens. An Imperial propaganda machine was also slated to be introduced in the coming days, replacing the Vladacheckian news services that had been removed soon after the occupation.

Let's try this again.
*ahem*
A Small Road in Southern Vladacheck
Captain Mikhail Lyirgy fondled the M-27 rifle that rested in his lap. He sat back against the uncomfortable metal siding of the Imperial APc that was rumbling over the muddy track in southern Vladacheck. It occured to him that this place was not that different from Buchiana, the rogue Imperial province where he had spent the first seven years of his service fighting first the Buchianan national army, and later the freedom fighters of the BLA.
His hands had been permanently stained with blood in that land, and it had wracked his conscience ever since. It had been a request for a transfer that had put his name on the list of soldiers to be deployed to this third world theater. It was a hellhole, but at least it wasn't Buchiana.
His musings were interrupted with an explosion beside the vehicle, which shook the compartment violently from side to side. TheAPC halted, and then rapidly accelerated. The Imperial military had perfected a strategy for dealing with ambushes while fighting the Buchianans, and now all APC pilots were taught never to come to a complete halt until the source of fire was identified and could be dealt with. Lyirgy gripped his rifle tighter, and braced himself. Above he heard the heavy hum of the machine gun mounted atop the vehicle. The 'tink' of rounds slamming into the side of the APC became ever more audible, coupled with more explosions. He was unsure of what exactly was going on outside, but he felt the armored car careening wildly over the road.
Suddenly, the APC lurched, and the world spun head over heels. He had neglected to harness himself to his seat, and was flung from it, his body slamming like an iron ragdoll into the opposite wall. He went unconscious for a few seconds, and awoke on the cieling. Looking around, he saw the bloodied faces of several motionless men, still strapped to their seats, or lying crumpled on the cieling like he was. The roar of combat pierced the confines of this steel grave, and he sat up, rubbing his head.
He examined himself, and found that he had been left virtually untouched save for a few cuts and bruises, unlike his unlucky compatriots. Groans filled the rear compartment as several other fortunate ones began to unfasten themselves. Lyirgy grabbed his rifle, and moved towards the rear of the vehicle. Locating the emergency lever, he smashed away the metal cover, and pulled it. The door burst open, and daylight flooded the compartment. The sharp noise of explosions and gunfire met his ears, and he rushed out into the gulch where the APC had overturned.
He realized with apprehension that he had lost his helmet in the incident, but decided that there was no time to go back for one. Rushing up the side of the ditch, he readied the M-27. Another APc sat burning in front of him. Several Imperial regulars ad taken cover behind the vehicle, and were firing at the hidden enemy. Liergy said a prayer and rushed across the road, diving the last few feet to take cover behind the burning vehicle. He put his back to the wall, and checked the clip on his M-27 for the second time. He was in it now.
((OOC: Hope that's better. I was in a huge hurry last time, and wasn't really thinking about what I was saying. Also, Vladacheck/VLA, if you want to get on AIM to plan anything out, feel free. My sn's listed under the info below the nation name.))
Road in Southern Vladachek
Leutnant Bernhardt of the VLA, crouched behind a log, etting off bursts of fire from his G36. They had taken the Imperials completely by surprise, but now things weren't goign quite so well. The small ambushing force had taken a few casualties from the return fire, and they were down to the last round on their grenade launcher. At least they had taken out 2 APCs. The last grenade round flew overhead and exploded against the APC which the Regulars had taken cover behind. the explosion faded, just as the last of the belt ran through the feed of the MG3.
"Alright boys, pack it up! Displace and meet back up at the woods. You know what to do!" The officer gestured to hsi men and they began to melt away, keeping up a sporadice fire as they went, hoping to the keep the Regulars distracted for at least the few minutes they needed to get away.

Pilot First Class Wilson peered through the canopy of his Black Hawk. He was ferrying a squad of Certean troops to the capital from one of the bases in the far south, just below the Imperial Occupation zone. He started as he spotted a plume of smoke coming from a road a few kilometers to the west. He turned to the squad in the back, yelling "Looks like there might be some trouble up ahead. I'm taking us in."
Sgt. Hendrick the professional looking veteran in charge of the squad, nodded and yelled orders to his men. THe soldiers loaded their CAR-2 assualt rifles and one of them slide the rack on a combat shotgun. Wilson's door gunner chambered a round for the M-60 and glanced out the door, looking a bit nervous.
A few minutes later the Black Hawk came over the trees, heading for the ambush site. Wilson could see an overturned APC with Imperial markings and another APC burning, with a group of Imperial troops taking cover behind it nad exchaning fire with an unseen foe.
"Spray those trees!" he shouted back to the gunner as he brought the Black Hawk in. THe Black Hawk turned until the door was facing the trees and the gunner had a clear field of fire. The gunner opened up with the M-60, the machine gun bullets passing over the burning APC and zipping through the trees, leaves and bits of bark scattering form the impact. After a few bursts Wilson brought the heliocopter down onto a clear area of the road, about ten meters from the firefight. The grunts cleared the vehicle and spread out, moving towards the APC and their Imperial allies, using cover when possible.
Wilson jerked the stick up and the Black Hawk lifted off, starting a circut of the area.

Captain Lyirgy gritted his teeth as the adrenaline began to fade from his bloodstream, and the pain from his arm attacked his psyche with renewed vigor. One of the other soldiers peered around the corner of the armored vehicle, squeezed off a few rounds, and returned to his cover. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he glanced over and noticed the Captain and his bloodstained sleeve. The man bore a red cross on his own sleeve, and immediately grabbed the medical bad at his feet. Grabbing the Captain’s arm, he shouted over the din.
“Hold still sir!”
The man removed a suture kit and some disinfectant, and began dressing the wound. Suddenly, a grenade round slammed into the side of the APC, and the medic was blown backwards by the shockwave transferred through the metal. The suture came away with him, and the stitches ripped through Lyirgy’s flesh, leaving a tangled mess of raw skin and string. Lyirgy yelled out in pain, and grabbed at his arm. He looked down at the wound, and then over at the unconscious medic. Gritting his teeth again, he grabbed the knife from it’s sheeth at his ankle, and brought it up to his arm. Working the blade over the wound, he cut the needle and the excess string free, and discarded the bloody mess in the dust. He grabbed the medic’s overturned bottle of disinfectant, and poured what was left over the wound. He then grabbed hold of his shredded sleeve, and tore it free, wrapping it like a bandage over the bleeding gash in his arm.
The fire began to fade as the enemy withdrew, and as Lyirgy finished securing the makeshift bandage, he grabbed his M-27 from where it lay in the dust, and looked to the other five men who were taking cover with him. The other APC was engaged up ahead, and Lvirgy knew that it was unsafe to stay where he was. The other officers appeared to have been killed or incapacitated, so it was left up to him to get his men out of there, and then if possible pursue and destroy the ambushing force.
He called to the others over the chatter of a machine gun.
“We’re toast if we stay here. We’ll have to make a break for that gulch, and then move up the road to rendez-vous with the rest of the platoon. I need suppressing fire while we cross that open stretch, and then we’ll cover you as you follow. Got it?”
The men nodded, and Lyirgy crept to the side of the APC. A man with a GLAR light machine gun moved to the opposite end. Lyirgy said another prayer.
“Covering fire!”
The man with the GLAR whirled around the corner and hit the dirt, unloading on the enemy position. Lyirgy and two other burst from their positions, and sprinted headlong towards the gulch twenty yards away. One of the men turned to fire while running, and caught a bullet in his leg, sending him stumbling head over heels. A second bullet slammed into his stomach, and then two hit his face, dissolving it in blood. Lyirgy heard the cries, but never looked back, diving and rolling into the gulch with the other man. The two then peered over the edge of the gulch, and opened fire. They had a better shot here, and could get a view of the enemy. Taking aim, Lyirgy squeezed off a round directed at the top of an enemy’s head. Unsure of whether he hit or not, he switched to full automatic and unloaded on the enemy. Suddenly, the sound of rotor blades met his ears, and Lyirgy looked up to see a Certain helicopter coming in low over the hills.
“‘Bout damn time they showed up for this war.”
The two support units dashed across the road and jumped into the gulch.
Crouching, the five men made their way along the side of the road as the enemy fire faded and the rebels withdrew. Up ahead, Lyirgy caught sight of the other APC as the Certain gunship opened fire with an M-60 on the woods where the enemy squad had retreated to. Lyirgy climbed out of the ditch, and led his men to the scene. Several bodies lay scattered in the dust, and two medics were rushing about, tending to the wounded.
An officer approached Lyirgy, and saluted.
“2nd Lieutenant Czerskoi reporting, sir.”
The Captain returned the Lieutenant’s salute.
“What’s your situation here? Where’s Colonel Drechka?”
The military convoy’s mission when it had come under fire had been to transport a certain Colonel Drechka to the newly established Imperial occupational capital of Wikhelm.
“KIA, sir. He was directing a counterattack, and a grenade landed right at his feet. We lost another two, and have about four wounded. That makes you the CO, sir.”
Lyirgy cursed under his breath.
“Alright, get those wounded in the APC. These bastards could be coming back for seconds. Also, get some medical personnel back down the road. There are wounded in the overturned APC.”
The lieutenant saw the makeshift bandage over Lyirgy’s forearm, and his eyes widened. Thick black blood was beginning to drip through the edges.
“Sir, you should get yourself fixed up as well.”
“It’s just a scratch. Don’t worry about it.”
“Yes sir.”
The lieutenant shouted to the medics, who carried the wounded into the rear of the APC. Lyirgy took a look at his force strength. Counting himself, the four others who had followed him, and those unharmed from the tipped APC, he had about twenty men capable of holding a weapon. It wasn’t much, but he knew that if he failed to counterattack, not only would he be risking allowing the enemy to regroup, but he would also face a likely court marshal for neglect to do his duty. The surviving and capable soldiers were falling in around him, waiting for orders.
“Alright. Here’s how it is. The bastards who ambushed us fell back into those woods. We’re going to have to chase them down or they’ll regroup and come back for more. If we wait for reinforcements, we’re just inviting them to come back. If we head in there now, we’ll be fighting on our own terms. I want four squads, two assault and two support, to move in on my command. If we’re lucky, we can flank them and catch ‘em with their pants down. Watch out for traps and ambushes, and keep it quiet. Go.”
The men saluted, and broke off into squads. Lyirgy led his men up to the edge of the forest, while the others fell into position. He gave the signal, and they moved into the woods, weapons ready, heads on a swivel. The hunt was on.
Sgt. Hendrickson led his men up the road, walking past the overturned APC. He turned to the squad medic, PFC Lee. "Lee, see what you can do to help out the Imperial medics and the wounded."
"Yes sir, I'll get right on it."
Lee broke off from the rest of the squad and jogged towards the Imperial medis to offer his assistance. Hendrickson motioned the rest of the squad forward. He loked around, trying to find the man in charge. He spotted a man wearing the insignia of a Imperial Captain leading his men into the forest. He signaled his men and they broke into a quick-step, falling in in the rear.
Meanwhile, Wilson had brought the heliocopter around and was searching the area for any signs of the rebels.
Southern Vladachek
The Leutnant motioned hsi troops back, rapping out rderes quickly as bullets from the circling helicopter whirred overhead. "Alright, 1st squad, take the wounded and displace back that way 150 meters. Set up the MG and give us cover fire when we fall back, than we'll do the same. Move out!"
the 1st squad moved out. As they fell back, Leutnant Walker and his remaining squad fired shots back at the advancing Imperials. A soldier exposed himself to much and fell back witha grunt, a bullet catching him in the chest. Bernhardt was wondering what the hell had happened to 1st when the familiar sound of the MG3 opened up and bullets began whirring overhead "Displace! Move it!"
The squad fell back again, leaving behind a few simple, but always faithful and always nasty tripwire/grenade booby traps and Claymores, along with a 'bouncing betty' mine quickly hidden underneath the body of the dead man.
After recieveing the second message from the VLA, the SEAL team gathered up their weapons and moved toward the copse of trees where the light had come from. Corporal Mendoza was on point, and was the first to make contact with the VLA troops.
"Hiya. How ya'll doin?" Without taking his eyes off the troopers, he whistled a signal, and the other seven SEALs appeared through the trees, weapons pointed at the ground but ready to be brought up at a moments noticed.
Captain Lewis walked forward, and said "So. What do you need us to do?"

40,000 FT, undisclosed location,SETWF C-130.
The Sahraian C-130 engines were at full power, the cargo plane was at its top speed. The ten Sahraian Elite & Tactical Warfare Force members prepared their weaponry and equipment. Tigris checked his Calico Carbine a third time. Sargent Mikin and Sargent Yimir also went over their Calicos. Sargents David, Pears, and Theodore attached their M-14 to their equipment bags, which held ammo, gernades, rations and other items. Lieutenant Larry Yellson made sure his AT-4 Rocket Launcher was saftyed; didn't want a anti-tank rocket to punch a hole in your chute. Master Sargents Yeppie and Flander brandished G36 machine guns, and carried four pounds of C-4, each. Th SETWF troops were ready to drop into to Occupied Vladachek, and reak havoc on the enemy invasion force.
C-130 Cockpit
The Pilot looked to his left. His escort (two Vladachek Tornados) break away. He watched their desert camo fuselages grow distant as the fighters kicked in their after burners. The C-130 was veunerable now, crossing into Vladachek. They would soon come into range of enemy radar instillations, but that wouldn't matter. The Aircraft would only venture about 20 miles into Vladachek, only far enough to give the SETWF boys a head start into occupied territor.
Thinking he would be safe, the pilot was quite surprised to see four blips on the radar. No friendly aircraft operating in the area, it could only mean one thing: enemy fighters. The C-130 had only flares as a defense, so the pilot did the only thing he could do, which was give the jump order, and head back the the isolated Vladachek army depot, still in Vladachek control (but for how long?)
The ramp dropped. The special forces soldiers filled out of the aircrafts rear once the jump light was given, parachutes at the ready. As soon as the last man was out the back, the planes pilot radioed the escort for help, and did a tight 180 turn, hopeing he`d make it to safty.

Ensign Theodore James Bolden of the Romandeosian Royal Navy Infantry Corps was not a morning person, which was probably why he was being so very unpleasant right then as a Lieutenant (JG) of the Royal Navy outlined to them what there overall mission was, and assaulted them all with questions at random moments to ensure they understood what was assigned to them.
“Mr. Bolden, do you remember your radio call-sign for this mission?” the officer asked.
“My radio call-sign for this mission is to be Seetiger Six, Lieutenant,” Bolden replied.
“Indeed,” the officer nodded. “Now what is to be the radio call-sign for Captain French?”
“His radio call-sign is to be Haifisch Six, Lieutenant,” Bolden replied.
“Right you are, Mr. Bolden. Now, once you have been inserted into the mission zone…..” and it continued for more than four hours as every detail was covered. At this rate, they’d have everything ready in relatively little time, and the sooner they got ready, the sooner it could all be done.
OOC: My boys will be in country in no time at all!
The sky was bright, the clouds fading into the soft blue tone. The water rippled smoothly, and the cackling of the sea birds as they soared across the sky, searching for promising salvage. The littered beaches of hundreds of bullets, bodies, and fragments were strewn across the beaches, and the day was complacent.
Across from the sandy beach was a wavy sleet of metal, as the ships bared across, closing in. The battleships readied their turrets, and the transports carefully lulled their engines, the smoke spewing furiously from their backs. Destroyers, Carriers, and all the manner of Cruisers slowly and carefully drifted towards the shore.
“Does the enemy suspect?” The captain asked.
“I do not know. They have been quiet in their communications. We haven’t been able to intercept much.” The aide responded.
“Very well. I will prepare for the deployment.” The captain exclaimed.
“Sir.” Another aide requested, pointing to his screen. “A message from the flagship Nihilist.” The aide said.
“Well,” captain answered impatiently, “play it.”
“Captain, this is Saerus. The patriarch has returned homeland safely. I am sending you this message as to tell you that reinforcements will not be arriving. If you are going to kill yourself, then you will have to do so alone.”
“I am aware, sir.” The captain alleged. He stood up to his full height, and he observed the battle from his bridge.
“Fire the missiles now.” He commanded imperiously.
As the day wore on, the missiles launched from their pods, and they skidded across the mirror smooth water and rammed into the beaches.
“Let’s get ready. They will be expecting us soon.” The captain ordered to his soldiers, as he prepared his gas mask.

The missile pods stopped firing, frozen in their berths. The cannons siezed up, and the aircraft could not move at all. The transports returned, and the ships began to turn around. A message from the Nihilist was flashing aboard every screen on the bridge.
"What have you done to my fleet!" The captain asked precariously.
"YOUR FLEET? It is not your fleet. You have been called to return home, captain. I am making sure you do." Saerus answered malevolently, his eyes peircing through him, carefully observing his next movements.
"I..." he submitted, "I will go home."
"Good. Let us stay here no longer. The Lurkers are already back."
"But what about the VLA?" the captain notioned.
"Leave them to their fate. They'll survive." Saerus commanded.
OOC: Yay! See ya. VLA, I hope you win! :mp5:

Lewis shrugged, and gestured for his men to follow as the Malkyeri followed the VLA soldiers into the woods.

Emperor Kacin,
It has recently come to my attention that you have crossed certain lines in your recent war with Vladachek. I care not about your reasons for war, but I do wish to make something clear.
Your treatment of civilians in the occupied territories is absolutely unacceptable. For the past several days since Vladachek surrendered, your forces have carried out systematic attacks and horrific violence against the innocent civilians of the country. It is unnecessary that you punish the people for whatever crimes their government has commited against you.
Please, heed my words. I have known you since you were a child, and you are better than this.
With Regards,
Dayan Saarad
OOC: Dayan isn't talking about the rebels you're training, but just the stuff that happened after Vladachek fell. Basically stuff that would be known by the international community.

Zachary Harrison set down the piece of paper and rubbed his temple. He looked up at an aide who stood by his desk. He sighed.
"I want full documentation of what they have done. Have Davis draft a message to Ramissle. Does Dayan know? About their response, I mean?"
"No, the staff hasn't talked to him since this morning. He'll be out of touch until at least tomorrow. He's giving a speech to the Ottoman House of Viziers, and then having dinner with some noble family."
Zachary smiled a little. "He won't be happy." The smile faded. "Damnit! How come whenever he leaves me in charge, it's at a time when war is a very real possibilty? And the Dracun! Again, we butt heads."
"Well, we beat them last time, sir."

"Maybe Kacin will do something stupid."
"Meh. Too bad, really. Dayan always did hold out hope for the boy."
Plains of Vladachek
Tigris looked over the landscape through binoculars. The hilly terrain was covered in Spruce trees and grass reaching four feet in height, a few hundered yards from the SETWF troops location was a river, and over it, was bridge. About 250 yards from that, to the North East, was what appeared to be Mobile Refueling Depot. By the flag that was flying from a make-shift wooden flag pole located in the center of the depot, the Major was able determine that the mobile facillity was owned and operated by Generic Empire.
There were a hodge-podge of vehicles. Nothing heavy, like tanks or APCs, but there were a number of jeeps and fuel trucks. Tigris also spotted something that looked like a open top tractor, circa 1927. There were three large 200 gallon fuel tanks at the Eastern end of the depot. The depot also had hundreds of little barrels dotting the area. Guards were armed with standerd rifles, and Tigris saw a lone gaurd tower that appeared to be a few feet away from the flag pole. It's occupants were probably snipers or machine gunners. There were a few small buildings (three of them, each about 700 sqaure feet in floor size). These buildings could be barracks, could be barracks, could be ammo storage buildings, could be military offices. He couldn't tell for sure, but Major Tigris decided they were all barracks, but he couldn't tell for sure.
It would be tricky gunning for the base. While the facility was small, there were still a rather large number of gaurds around the MRD. Also, there was no way to know if an armoured column was about to roll through the area, looking for gas. No, thought Tigris, it be better to pass up the MRD itself. Targeting the depot itself could turn out to be a very, very poor tactical maneuver. That didn't mean his team couldn't render the facility useless. The bridge was the only way traffic routed through the depot could proceed into Free Vladachek, at least, without making a major detour.
The plan; Yeppie and Flander would open up with their machine guns, surprising the troops at the MRD. Speacilist Jeremy (Who I neglected to mention in my last post) would, from an isolated location, use his M-14 sniper rifle to pick of the Gaurd towers occupants. Larry would stay hidden; no need for his RL on this mini-mission. Tigris would take some C-4 from Yeppie (1 pound; 2 charges) and take the rest of the team onto the bridge were they would place the explosives on the the structer. The bridge was obviously not desinged to survive explosive charbges of any sort, so two randomly placed 6 ounce C-4 charges should have no trouble totaling the stand-free bridge. The men with M-14 would move behing those with Calico Carbines, and pick off any gaurds who got to close. Mikin and Yimir would act as heavies for Tigris, though those with M-14s and G36s would do the most killing. After the "excursion squad" made it off the bridge, Yimir (who would keep the detonator in his hand, for insuarnce reasons) would blow the bridge sky high by triggering the C-4. Then, when the damage was done, the team would fall back into the tall grass, and head about 5 klicks Southwest of the MRD. Major Tigris doubted the gaurds of the refueling depot would be willing to swim across a river and chase a special forces squad. And that was the plan.
The men of SETWF moved in position and begun the operation. The hail of bullets ushered from the G-36 streaked forth from the grass lining the rivers bank, headed toward the Mobile Refueling depot, while the M-14 sniper let of four shots aimed at the heads of four individuals in the gaurd tower. One minute after the G-36s had opened fire, Tigirs and his assault team (6 men, including himself) moved out onto the bridge.

Dracun-Vladachek News Brief
Today dozens of (Dracun) rebels were apprehended, and paraded in front of Vladachekian citizens. They were gunned down by an execution squad, and their heads put on pikes and put in Central Square, of the newly named Vladracan, formerly known as Elkeburg. A small fire fight broke out in the city between armed rebels and Dracun forces. Three rebels were killed the rest fled, two Dracuns were hurt.
Dracun Military Base
Explosions rocked the ground as mortars and rockets flew into the base. The base went into alert immediately. Already a dozen troops were dead, and another 8 injured. The machine guns were manned and they laid chains of fire into the forest. Snipers were in towers and searched for enemy VLA forces.
In the small helipad, three apaches soared into the air; they fired their own rockets into the forest, while unloading their guns onto different positions. The tactic was simple, flush the enemy out or kill him with overuse of force.
Meanwhile in the base, flamethrowers were being grabbed, by special infantry forces, to use if the attack didn’t stop soon. Infantry soldiers ran out taking cover and opening fire where rockets were fired seconds before. One soldier was unlucky and hit by a rocket in his face.
Dracun military Base
3 rebels had been killed by the return fire from the helicopters cannons, and a furhte4 wounded by a rocket that ahd landed too close. Their objective accomplished, the rebels began to withdraw stopping to fire the occasional mortar round, until they were about 1 kilometer from the base. Once that was done, they took their weapons and scattered, moving to their homes and businesses to resume their apperance of normal civilians.
The bodies of the dead had been left behind, laid on top of 'Bouncing Betty' mines. They would not alow their dead to be identified by the occupational forces. To have sucha thing happen would mean retaliations against the men's family and freinds.
Message to the people of Ekleburg, from the Vladachek Liberation Army(Posted on posters put up around the town)
The men you saw killed today were not members of the VLA. They were citizens of Vladachek ruthlessly used by the Dracun Imperium. Resist the invader by any means possible! Do not allow them a moments rest! For freedom and Vladachek!

Lyirgy hit the dirt as gunfire exploded around him. The man on his flank took a shot to the chest, and reeled, but managed to pull himself to cover behind a tree, the heavy armor having saved his life. Lyirgy put his eye to the heat sensitive scope, scanning for signs of enemy movement. He caught a rebel in his sights as his support teams opened up on either sides, setting up a crossfire directly in the path of the enemy’s retrear. He squeezed off a burst at his target, and jumped to his feet, leading his team into the woods. He leapt over a branch, hollering orders to the other teams as he fired on everything that moved up ahead.
Suddenly, he heard a distinct ‘click’ behind him, and an explosion ripped through the air, showering him in dirt and small rocks. He turned to see one of his men cut in half at the waist, screaming and trying to grab at one of his legs, which lay just out of reach above his head. Lyirgy grimaced, and raised his rifle. He pulled the trigger and fired a single shot into the man’s head, ending his misery. He motioned and continued his charge through the woods.
He could see the enemy clearly now, as a clearing appeared through the woods, and he switched his rifle to automatic and opened up on the retreating foe, taking cover behind logs and in the underbrush. Suddenly, the second assault team opened fire from the side, creating yet another crossfire.
A man appeared on the ground beside Lyirgy, and began to take aim through the sights on his GIHR.
“Good to see you, Cap. We thought we lost you boys back there.”
The man opened fire, and Lyirgy rolled over, covering his ears. The second support team moved up and began to suppress their victims. Lyirgy motioned to his men to follow him, and he began moving around the left flank of the clearing. When he reached the position, he took aim at an exposed head and fired a round. He stood, and rushed towards the enemy position with his men as the second assault team did likewise, flanking their enemy.

Imperial Mobile Supply Depot
Alarms resounded as the enemy opened up on the base. Two of the guards fell head over heels from the towers. One of the others had spotted the telltale glare of a scope, and hit the ground, while the other’s life had been saved as the bullet grazed his reinforced helmet, which protected not only his cranium, but his neck, and large portions of his face.
In the center of the facility, the Imperial Praetorian Guard sprung into action. Ever ready, the Imperial elite were accustomed to jumping into action at a moment’s notice from decades of training and the experience earned on the harsh battlefields of the Alexian plains and the Buchianan suppression. In the barracks, soldiers strapped on their armor and helmets, and grabbed their heavy GIR-37 rifles, rushing out to defend the installation. Imperial snipers took cover behind low walls and in towers, and searched the fields for the attackers. Cracks rang out as the snipers opened up on their targets.
Praetorians jumped on the heavy machine guns that lined the entrances and walls of the installation, and opened up on the direction of the enemy fire, while others took cover and opened up with their GIR-37s.
Major Mikhail Dreschkov grabbed his saber and helmet as he heard the explosion of battle in the courtyard outside. He shouted to an aid to get on the radio and call for air support in the form of ImperialGH-2 gunships. Lowering his armored faceplate, he crouched and ran out to join the fray, taking cover behind an armored IFV with a group of other soldiers.

Secret IC:
Terrace of a small café in Wikhelm, Capital of Imperial Occupation
The ice clattered against the glass as he raised it to his lips. His eyes scanned the street from behind a pair of dark sunglasses, examining the faces of each passerby. The foot traffic was moderate at this time of day in the downtown area. By now, most people had begun returning to whatever jobs they had held before, if they still held them, or had found work with one of the Imperial companies that had come to the new territory to rebuild the infrastructure and make a killing in a new market.
He looked down at his watch, and sat back in his chair. He drained the remaining contents of the glass and set it down. The air was unusually warm, and the cool liquid was refreshing. A face caught his attention in the crowd, and he watched it out of the corner of his eye as it moved onto the terrace. The second man casually took a seat across from the first. He addressed the man softly in refined Generian.
“Hello Alex.”
“Nikolas.”
“It’s been awhile. Last time I saw you was in New Bucharest three years ago.”
“There hasn’t been much work that would bring us together since then.”
The second man, Nikolas, chuckled.
“Buchiana. Heh. That was a hell of a time, wasn’t it.”
“You could say that.”
Nikolas reached into his jacket pocket and produced a pack of cigarettes. He placed one between his lips and raised a polished silver lighter. Exhaling a cloud of smoke he spoke again.
“So what are we doing here, Alex? Tell me, are we in for more of the daring adventure, the swashbuckling highlife we spies always find ourselves landed in?”
Now Alex, Aleksander Nilovy, suppressed a chuckle.
“Counter-insurgency.”
“Again? Don’t the boys back home have anything else for us.”
He smiled sarcastically.
“Alex, I’m beginning to fear that we’ve been type-cast.”
“Frankly, it’s the only job we’re qualified for.”
Nikolas took a long pull on the cigarette, and exhaled a ring of smoke that wreathed his head like a devilish halo. He grinned sardonically.
“I’m not sure I mind that. These folks seem to be feeling awfully brave lately. I do believe they have no idea what they have coming. If I were them and I knew that a few old rogues like us were back together again, by God, I’d have shat myself and ran for the hills already.”
Alex sat forward and leaned in.
“Well my friend, as much as I’d like it, we’re not the tip of the spear this time. They’re making a big move back home. I hear rumors of a full deployment of the counter insurgency special teams. Some may already be in country, watching and readying themselves. You know how they think. For now, we’re playing it the same way, watching and waiting. Calculating and planning our next move. This is not Buchiana, Nick, but it sure as hell feels like it. Don’t forget what we’ve been taught. We’re always the eyes first, and then we become the fist.”
Nikolas stared straight ahead as he took this in. He nodded, locked eyes with his old compatriot and spoke.
“Either way, old friend, they will learn fear, as we have learned to love it.”
He dropped his cigarette at his feet, and crushed it with his heel, before turning and walking off into the crowd. Alex watched him silently before standing. He dropped a few coins on the table, and vanished into the city.

The Apache helicopter searched the area, for remaining survivors, and the search began. After one bomb incident, the bodies were shot several times to make them explode. The total attack had left, 21 dead, and 13 injured.
The posters in Ekleburg, were left up. The message was that these were the rebels putting these up to make the Dracuns look like bad guys and that they shall be left up to show the stupidity and desperation of the rebels. Images of Dracunians saving Vladachekians were posted everywhere, as well as shown on the news continuously. The General promised not another Vladachek would die, under these terrible rebels.

In the occupied cities, the Imperial propaganda machine was running full force. From secure studios within military compounds and occupied and fortified television stations, GINN Vladacheck broadcasted the Imperial message 24/7. Massive screens were mounted on the sides of buildings in major squares, and footage rolled constantly of Imperial soldiers valiantly fighting off the rebel VLA and saving the civilians while distributing food and medicine. Recruitment adds were interspaced with the broadcast to help bolster the ranks of the newly formed Vladacheck Imperial Territorial Militia.
Martial law was still firmly in effect, along with the imposed curfew, which had been raised to 7 O'clock in order to allow people to go to and from work safely.
Still, in the capital the voice of the former parliament was proving a thorn in the side of the occupation forces, and the Empire decided it would need to be dealt with. During a regular meeting of the parliament, the representatives were shocked to find the doors exploding inward and the room rapidly filling with teargas as Imperial GICE forces poured in. Those in attendance were arrested by official Imperial edict, and herded into armored vehicles for transport to one of the fortified Imperial detention centers.
GICE vehicles appeared at the houses of the arrested men, and in a lightning fast sting, their families were taken as well, to be brought to separate detention facilities for processing and later deportation to the Imperial mainland. Arrest warrants were issued for the representatives who had not been present at the time of the operation, and their image was broadcast across the airwaves, with a description of the men as wanted terrorists, and a threat that any found harboring or aiding the men would suffer harsh, unspecified punishment.
As the SEALs continued to follow the VLA soldiers, one of the Malkyeri started to get impatient.
"Hey, how much longer? We goin to do any fighting or just hike all day?"
"Weathers, shut the hell up," replied Captain Lewis. Just what he needed, one of his men to piss off the only friendlies for miles.
[Leutnant Bernhardt cursed. They were being flanked. Shit. "2nd Squad! Displace!" The NCO in command of the 2nd squad nodded and began shifting beackwards, keeping up a steady fire as they went. They had to get out of this damn flanking maneuver. Bernhardt looked at the NCO "Get out of here. We'll cover your retreat!"
"Yes sir!" The 2nd squad turned and sprinted away, darting in and out of cover as they retreated from the area. Bernhardt turned back ot the firefight, keeping up a steady fire. They had to give them time to get away. The man next to Bernhardt jerked backwards as his face disapeared in a puff of blood. Bernhardt turned as he heard the crash of armored feet. Looming over him was a heavily armored soldier, a sabre raised in one hand. The man brought the sabre whistling down as the young Vladachekian rolled to one side, dropping the rifle and comign up with his combat knife in one hand. The bastard was stronger, better armored, and had reach on him. No way he could win. But he could damn well try. The man brought hsi sbare up again, moving forward to crush the insolent Vladachekian, when the Leutnat brought his other hand up and pulled the trigger on the pistol he kept on his belt. "Die you schwine!" he yelled, and squeezed the trigger.
Williamsburg, Vladachekian capital
Of the members of parliament not in attendance, 2 were later found attempting to flee the city. The other 3 remained at large, aided by the VLA, they and their families had gone underground.
SEAL Team
One of the Vladachekians chuckled "Would you rathe rbe footsore or dead? 'Cause that's what you'd be if we didn't take the long way to the safe house."
The hike continued for another 20 minutes, before they arrived at a small cabin in the woods. Inside, there were rations, weapons and ammunition, along with 4 more members of the VLA.
"This is our units HQ. We've passed word our arrival up to the top, so General Berlitz should be here sometime in the next week." the officer in command said, one Hauptmann Arthur Von Aunswit
Jeremy took a few seconds to readjust his scope, only fine tuning was applied. He then took aim at the he barley hit, taking a few extra seconds to make sure he was aiming at the center of the mans face, for a solid hit. He pulled the trigger, and hoped the other sentry he had missed, the one that had ducked, would pop his he up again, and squander his second chance at life.
The asssault team moved up the road, only 75 yards from the bridge now. The MRDs alarms were blaring loud and far. The riflemen gaurding Tigris's back saw a good twenty soldier pour out of the barracks, all in battle armour and equiped with some mean looking assualt rifles. As planned, the three riflemen went into knelling position and took aim (at the gaurds, off course), and opened up with their semi-automatic rifles. Bullets were classified as armour piercing, but they did have limited ability againts metal body armour and kevlar located around the torso. They would just have to aim for the head, or knees. Mikin and Yimir trained their G36s on the gaurds appearing out of the barracks. However, just as Yimir got a clear vector on two very unclever and dim witted fellows, his gun went dry and he had to reload. As soon as he did this, he went back to firing at the gaurds, but his two easy kills had become difficult targets, correct by a commanding officer no doubt. Yellson sat tight. He would appreciate some "applicable targets", but ultimatly he wanted this hit to go off without a hitch. Ergo: Tanks would be fun, but probably not safe. It was proably a coincidence that Yellsons next thoughts were of GH-2 gunships.
43 seconds after Yimir had reloaded his gun, Tigris and his "bodygaurds had reached the bridge. The rifle men were still taking carful aim at the advancing gaurds, take a shot at one target at a time. The machine gun cover from the bushes was still tightly trained on the advancing horde of gaurds as well. The situation worsened for the SETWF troops as 15 more troops emerged out of the barracks, and took covered behind an armoured vehicle (IFV). A sixth of the way across bridge, Tigris droped and armed his first C-4 charge. At this point, the Generic Empire gaurds started lobbing 7.62mm full metal jacket shells at the SETWF boys.
Southern Vladachek
Wilson juked the helicopter around, catching a fleeting glimpse of figures fleeing through the trees. He brought the heliocopter down into a clearing in the woods until it was a few feet from the ground. The door gunner found himself looking at some very suprised rebels. He squeezed the trigger, the M-60 kicking into his shoulder.
On the ground Hendrickson and his squad had hit the dirt when the mine went off and had now scrambled to their feet and sprinted into the woods, bypassing a dead Preatorian with both legs blown off. They slithered through the undergrowth. Suddenly, Hendrickson heard the distinct click of a Imperial assualt rifle being loaded.
"Hold your fire!" he shouted, "We're Certean troops!" He slowly stood up, assualt rifle pointed down, but ready to come up if it turned out it was just a rebel using a Imperial weapon...

Bernhardt’s bullet pierced Lyirgy’s side, skirting the armor and burying itself in one of his ribs. He winced and clutched at his side. The adrenaline surging through his veins began to dull the pain, and he regained his senses. Having dropped his M-27 in the struggle, he grabbed his combat knife and charged the Vladacheckian who was getting to his feet. He grabbed for the hand holding the pistol, and knocked it to the ground. Baring his teeth like a wounded animal, he wrestled the rebel commander under a hail of bullets, struggling to bring his knife to the man’s throat and end it there.
The other assault teams paid no attention to the man on man battle, and pursued their retreating foes while the support units maintained their suppression.
---------------
A calm descended over Sergeant Vladek Mroskov as he peered through his scope, while the hail of battle flew all about him. He was looking for something, someone amid the chaos. He knew that out there in the hills his counterpart was waiting as he was, to deliver swift death to his enemies. The other man was simply a second half to a whole, an identical force of the opposing side. Mroskov now made it his duty to find and eliminate this second half.
Three years earlier the twenty-three year old Buchianan sniper had come to this realization, that the man he was hunting was merely himself in a different uniform. For eighteen hours he had sat perfectly still amid the ruins of a department store in Deskograd, watching for his prey, waiting for movement amid the opposing rooftops. The crater checked street had become little more than a perfect arena, undisturbed and dateless. There had been nothing to take away from the contest of lethal skill for the Buchianan loyalist, and when his prey had moved, he had performed to the essence of perfection. A single round to stir his enemy, and a second to put him away forever.
Now, this scene repeated itself in Mroskov’s mind. The arena had changed, and the sounds of battle raged all around him, yet his serenity was as it was three years ago. A flash, and a glimmer of motion in the trees. He moved his rifle and fired directly beside where he had seen the movement. His enemy would be flushed out and he would claim another trophy.
Elsewhere, eight other Imperial snipers were training their scopes on the ballsy team of demolitions men who were charging for the bridge. They took aim and fired, again and again while the Imperial machine gunners lay down their brilliant lead coat.
Bernhardt grunted, swore. The man on top of him was big, wearing body armor. He struggled hard, pressing the hand that held the knife in an attempt to keep it from his throat. His other hand was pinned to the ground, and he struggled to bring it up. He couldn't. He saw the blade move closer His life began to flash in front of him. His childhood, high school, basic, officer school, his girlfriend, waiting for him. "No..." he grunted, and brought his knee up, slamming it into the back of the man on top of him, flipping over so that he was on top. He struggled with the one hand to twist the knife around, while trying to bring the pistol up with the other. "I amnot going die here!" he grunted as he struggled with Lyirgy, "Damn you, I am not going to die!"
2nd squad sprinted off through the woods, dodging around trees as they moved deeper into the forest. They knew this place. They could lose the enemy soldiers easily. If they could out run them.
The remains of 1sr squad were hot on their heels, when the helicopter dropped down in front of them. "Oh sh-!" The roar of the M60 filled the clearing as soldiers dropped, their lives cut away. One had managed to drop to hsi belly as the shooting started. he twisted a grenade off his webbing and tugged the ring out, lobbing it into the helicopter that sat a mere 2 or 3 yards away.

Lyirgy shouted in pain as the man bent his arm at an awkward angle, the sickening crack of a snapping bone audible. Blind rage filled him, and pure arenaline coursed through his veins. With a mighty roar he pushed himself to his feet, the man still grappling onto his back, and dived backward, slamming his opponent into the dirt. Seizing the opportunity, He grabbed his opponent around the collar, and administered a powerful headbutt to the man's face, knocking him to the ground.
Lyirgy dived forward, in a last attempt to destroy his opponent, but suddenly a great searing pain pierced his abdomen. He looked down only to see his enemy withdrawing a bloody knife from his stomach. He watched in a state of shock as the man rolled hos body over, got up, and dashed off into the forest. A calm suddenly fell over Lyirgy, blocking out the pain, and a darkening haze drifted over his eyes. He saw nothing, and everything was gone.
((OOC: More tomorrow. Tonight I sleep.))
Hendrickson motioned his men forward. They jogged into the clearing. A Imperial soldier lay on the the ground, uncouncious. He had suffered a knige wound to the stomach and his arm was at a sickening angle.
"Get Lee up here!" he orderd Private Rieden, then pointed to the treeline, "Keep it moving!"
A few moments later Rieden, followed by Lee re-appeared. Lee bent over the Imperial soldier as the rest of the squad continued deeper into the forest.
Wilson heard the gunner scream "GRENADE!" and hunched into his seat. THere was a "crump" and he heard shrapnel richochet of the armored seat and saw bits of it hit the canopy and control panel. He glanced over his shoulder and saw the gunner, unmoving, thrown against the rear of the chopper. "Shit..." he muttered as he started to bring the heliocopter up.
((OOC: Yimir and Mikin are not maning the G36s, it is Yippie and Flander. Sorry about this. This means that it is Flander holding the C-34 detonator, not Yimir. So sorry about this!))
Mikin took roughly thirty rounds to the chest, 5 recived from snipers, the remainder from GE army machine gunners. Due to the SETWF standard issue kevlar, this wouldn't have killed the the Sargent, however, A bullet to the head (as well as left leg) would. Mikin was the first man down. He was not the last. Pears, one of the riflemen covering the Tigris and his cadre of soldiers took a sniper bullet to the head, and spiriled backwards onto the pavment of the road. SgT. David stumbled back a few feet as five MG rounds impacted his protected torso. Yimir and Tigris escape injury and/or death for the very reason David did; all the bullets that hit them were stopped by Kevlar body armour. Tigris did loss mobility however, whe three bullets ripped through his right leg, and another into his foot. He went to his knees. Yimir, as trained, knelt infront of his superior to protect him from bullets. Tigris, pumped on adrenilne, managed to arme the second C-4 charge and place on the side of the bridge. Yimir realized the two wouldn't make back the way they came, so he improvised. He Major Tigris by the collar, sprited to the Northwest side of the bridge, and made a 14 foot jump into the river below. Yimir's shoulder was grazed by round from a sniper rifle, and several other bullets flew into his body armour. SgT.s Mikin and Theodore made there retreat. Still 75 yards from the bridge were able to make a hasty dash to safety, being that they had less ground to cover then Tigris and Yimir, who had made it half way across the bridge. The pair did not go unhindered however, their backs were racked by bullets. If it weren't for their kevlar, the two would have fallen dead, instead of just stumbling into the tree line and grass.
Flander didn't imediatley take out and activate the detonator (and therefore the C-4); he waited about 8 seconds, hoping that Mikin would make the same hop that Tigris and Yimir had. After 8 seconds, though, he knew the third man wouldn't be joining the two jumpers. Flander halted firing from his MG to take out the C-4 detonator and pulled the devices trigger.
OOC: What happened to everyone?*bump*
Bernhardt swayed to his feet and sprinted off into the trees. He had to get away and lie low. The Imperial troops would be combing this forest. He'd have to hook up with the rest of the squad later. he stumbled into a small stream bed, and scrabbled into the culvert through which it ran. He'd hide here until everything blew over.

::Official Statement from the Northern Nation States Ministry of International Affairs::
We are remiss for not having intervened sooner, after Certe's first display of aggression we should have kept closer tabs and prevented the violent expansion that led to this conflict. To remonstrate this massive failure we are prepared to offer all possible support to oppose Certe and its allies. to this end a battle group has been dispatched pending approval by Vladachek and its allies.

Embattled Imperial Mobile Supply Depot
Major Mikhail Dreschkov emptied the clip in the direction of the enemy before taking cover again.
"Sir, they've reached the bridge!"
"Damnit! Kill the bastards!"
Dreschkev slammed a clip into the GIR-37 and broke his cover behin the IFV, sprinting head on towards the low wall near the gate. Switching to semi-automatic, he peered through the scope, and took careful aim at the head of the enemy soldier holding a small black box, the detonator for the C4.
His finger hammered on the trigger again and again while the machine guns sawed away at the enemies on the bridge. Suddenly, the dull whir of rotors added to the cacaphony of battle. Turning, the Imperial soldiers watched as three GH-2 gunships appeared over the hills.
"Hostiles confirmed. Moving in for an attack run."
Missiles streaked towards the ridge where the Sahran soldiers had found cover. The GH-2 pilots brought their machines to bear, and swerved to unleash a broadside of heavy machine gun fire.
-------------------
As the VLA forces retreated, the Imperial soldiers ceased their pursuit, claiming victory and avengeance for the day. Firing their weapons in the air, they shouted and cheered.
Lvirgy came to momentarily to see a man kneeling over him.
"Wha-, did we...?"
Before he could finish the sentence, he was once again enveloped by blackness.
He came to once again in an unfamiliar white room. It took a moment for his brain to process things after being dormant for who knew how long, but soon enough, the sounds of his surroundings came stampeding towards his splitting head. The dull whir of strange machines and the repetitive beeping of a heart monitor stood out against anything else. Lyirgy looked down at his body to see that he was lying in a white bed, and was covered in bandages, with all manner of tubes protruding from his arms.
He grabbed hold of one of the tubes and ripped it from his arm, letting it drop to the floor beside him. He propped himself up against the bedboard, and tilted his head back, closing his eyes in an effort to alleviate his aching head.
He heard a creak as the door opened, and two men, both in military unifomr stepped into the room. One, a low level officer from the look of it, took position by the door, while the other, a far more decorated individual, approached the bed. The man’s hair was white, yet his face seemed to maintain a sense of youth, clean shaven and brilliant. The man extended his hand, and Lvirgy summoned the strength to lift his own arm and return the handshake.
"Captain Mikhail Lyirgy, I’m General Slavochka Tatayov, commander of the 15th Imperial army.”
Lyirgy, taken aback at the man’s identity, raised his hand in salute.
“Sir, I regret that I can’t stand.”
“Don’t think a thing of it. You should be proud of those wounds.”
The second man, the low level officer, approached, and produced a small case. The General took it gingerly, and held it before him.
“Captain Lyirgy, it is my honor and privilege to present to you the Imperial iron infantry cross for outstanding valor going above and beyond the call of duty.”
The General opened the case, and presented the award, a small black and silver cross. Lyirgy again raised his hand in salute, before taking the medal. The General returned the salute.
“I’ll leave you to your recovery, Captain.”
The officers turned and exited the room.
