Civil War! Country Divided Into Two!

The Upper Congo
03-03-2005, 20:41
Rebel Leader Hans Koberson stood up on the podium, shuffling a bit from the overwelming heat as it is summer and he is wearing an army jacket. He took out a few short pieces of paper and read his speach to 5,000 of his most loyal supporters:

Today, it has come to my attention that our government is just a multi-plex of corporations that suck off the countries teet and give us, the workers little or nothing in return. Pain, tears, hardship, loyalty, honour and many years we have given this great country and we get only more work, less pay and higher taxes! Is is worth all our trouble?!? No it is not!!!!! My only son died in the war against Guffingford defending his country and its useless government, I want revenge! I say we overthrow this pathetic excuse of a governemnt and re-write TUC's history with incredible achievements and glory, not pain and hardship! March with me brothers, in the end you will be rewarded!

A massive cheer was heard in the town hall and the citizens took anything that could kill with them to the nearest ammunition dump. An army helicopter was sent to see what the disturbance was and it unfortunately landed in the middle of the town square. 2 Pilots, 3 soldiers and a radio man were captured. All the TUC government knows that the people are armed with:

1,000 grenades
430 automatic machine guns
An army helicopter
A large assortment of popular shotguns, knifes, pistols and rocket-launchers.

All this was taken after the ammuniton dump was captured. President Tolts recieved another telegram, a disturbing one at that:

"60% of army not willing to fight under any circumstances, all men walk home, policemen on strike, airforce unwilling to do any bombing. Only Presidential guards, 1st and 9th Army Corps ready for action. Half the country under Rebel Influence as they represent a just cause, fuel and weapon supplies low. Rebels willing to take over peacefully if you resign, if not your head may be on a sharp stick. Good Luck"

President Tolts has been given 24 hours to clarify his departure or stay and fight.

These rumours of rebellion in The Upper Congo have not gone unnoticed by the watchful men and women of the State Securitate. The possibility of intervention is still not a "case closed" file.

Official statement

"Clearly the Upper Congo government cannot handle their own dirty laundry. It it in the world's best interest that Guffingford will do what it must. A peaceful Upper Congo means one hotspot less on this planet. A QRF fleet* is on its way to quell the rebellion and to restore law and order."

MINOR BATTLE BETWEEN TUC FORCES AND REBELS!

"Orders are orders they say, round up 300 men from the 9th Army Corps and begin anti-terror fighting. The city of Dawanda is at stake"

The garrison of Dawanda was small, maybe 700 altogether. Rebels had recently surrounded the city and begun a heavy bombardment with captured artillery and mortars. 2,500 rebels were slowly taking over the suburbs but the attempt at taking the whole city would be foolish. TUC Government Forces were losing ground day by day and things were slowly getting worse. The only thing that was keeping the rebels at bay for now was TUC artillery attacks and 6 machine gun posts situated in the middle of the city. There were rumours that President Tolts had resigned and handed over power to the rebels but that was unconfirmed by either parties. Newspaper headlines told the whole country the dire situation at Dawanda...........

GARRISON SURROUNDED, 12 MILES ALREADY LOST, ENEMY AT SUBURBS!

more news is to come.

RESIGNATION OF POWER BY EX-PRESIDENT MARK TOLTS

Today, after much thought I have resigned my post as leader of The Upper Congo as rebels have neared our capital and we have few fighting men left. I have willingly gone into exile at Sandmen65 and I hand over power of State to Hans Koberson, leader of the rebel forces. Forgive me for all that I have done.

After much consideration, the Empire of Xeraph finds itself in an unusual situation, that being that as Xeraph has little tolerance for rebellion without proper cause, and the cause of the Upper Congo rebelling against it's rightful government is without merit, Xeraph has no choice but to offer Guffingford any aid it would deem necessary to quell the rebellion. Relations between Guffingford and Xeraph have not been, shall we say, harmonious in the past, but in this case, we are on Guffingford's side.
Xeraph has two CBG's in the area, and can scramble air support on a moment's notice.
Let us know what we can do to help.

They are still there. Go to cia.gov and search The Republic of Congo. There is my map *including Gabon*

Hans Koberson has finally been made President of the Upper Congo and it's "colonies" A few islands off the coast remain unaware of anything and will soon be recieving a telegram from Parliament and the High Council. A new Parliament has come into power, not a democracy, not a republic but a Communist Republic. The flag will be changed within a few days and miners, farmers, factory workers and governemnt workers *teachers etc* wages have been tripled. The nuclear plan is still going ahead and the Navy & Airforce are recieving major reforms. Schools are being set up across the country and factories are being asked to produce twice as much manufactured goods.

Near Upper Congo territorial waters...

Captain Dafydd was again sitting in his comfortable chair on the bridge overlooking the sailors working beneath him. Overlord Ynsson gave Dafydd a green light for possible military intervention to restore democracy in The Upper Congo. This time there would be no retreat to aid an ally, since there's no war. The Upper Congo would be an excellent part in the new Imperial Reich of Guffingford, an empire based on the power of colonies.

"Captain, sir. Our factfiles tell us this Hans Koberson fellow is a bit of a communist, our intelligence confirms this."
"Goddamn reds... They're everywhere. My orders are to attack whenever TUC decides to commit acts of hostility."
"Aye sir, I will notify the crew."

Ha! Funny Funny!

"The country is now fully Communist. 9th Army Corps of 400 men are still fighting against us to restore democracy but they will soon be crushed, our forces are to big. 100 miles left to conquer under our red new flag and soon enough we will have complete control of The Upper Congo and it's colony Gabon. No one will stop our great legacy of peace, power & triumph."

"Loyalist attack! Get your fire-arms men!" shouts barracks commanded Niger... 140 rebels were staging an attack on the barracks kitchens to move to the main base and capture it. 135 Communist soldiers first mortar-bombed the enemies position and when the kitchens were captured by the Loyalists they set it on fire with flame-throwers. 30 Loyalists died in the blaze and soon they were forced to retreat back to the jungles. 12 men of ours were injured.

"In response to the military deployments taking place in the South Atlantic Ocean which we can only suspect of being involved with the Upper Congo military conflict, authority has been granted for the partial mobilization of the Eredron African Expeditionary Force, as well as the reassignment of the carrier groups Intrepid and Stalwart to international waters due west of the Congo, for military exercises."

Spokesperson, Military Command Staff

Private Communique, Upper Congo

The Republic of Eredron views the civil unrest within the Upper Congo as an unfortunate event, as all bloodshed must be viewed. However, with even greater concern we view the activity of nations who consider themselves to be empires, who'se delusions of imperial grandeur have brought them to your doorstep.

It is in the interest for both the Upper Congo, and myself - indeed, all African powers - that the civil war in the Congo not be allowed to escalate any further. Eredron has therefore assembled a diplomatic envoy, and observers, that we beseech you to accept into your nation, for the purposes of assessing the situation in the country, as well as negotiating for official diplomatic recognition of the fledgling government being forged, whose communist idealogy will undoubtedly provoke much hostile intent among some in the international community.

In the meantime, an emergency aid package of 150 million EM has been set aside for use in the Upper Congo to maintain the civilian population who unfortunately must suffer during war.

"We cannot allow any non-allied states to tread in TUC national waters. Eredron cannot place itself in an extraordinary position by barging in and telling people what to do. Strategic Command will handle this case, and we will follow their orders. The Guffingfordii 4th fleet, part of the Southern Captain Command, will maintain a defensive perimeter to defend the already embattled lands of The Upper Congo from foreign influences."

- Signoli DeFelice, minister of foreign affairs & Captain Max Merriwheter Dafydd, executive officer of the 4th fleet.

The ships of the fourth fleet began positioning themselves in defensive formation, to prevent any ship not allied to Guffingford entering TUC national waters - or to prevent TUC vessels and aircraft leaving their domestic waters. More transport ships carrying ammunition from the Cape Verde Islands arrived at the fourth fleet, which immediately began several major military exercises of various war scenarios.

A message from the Great Leader of The Upper Congo, Hans Koberson to whoever rules Guffingford:

The rebels, after much talk have finally accepted my leadership of the Upper Congo and Gabon. Guffingford, you seem to dislike me for some reason? I may be a Communist but that does not mean I am not a good leader. If you press on with your attack and blockade I will be forced to seek help elsewhere. Please, for the sake of our nations and our younger generation who are being forced to fight stop your military actions now. Thank you for your time.

Guffingford, do you think it is fair to try and re-store a government that fought against you, do you think it is fair that so many have died under it's rule? Do you think it is fair that you can pick & choose whichever country you wish to become (against their will) part of your empire? Do you think it is fair that the people rose up against their tyrants, installed a new goverment (which is doing quite well, may I say) and are as free as ever could be imagined? Do you think it is fair that you nuclear-bombed our country and killed nearly a million citizens while our missiles would run out of fuel before they even reached your country? I don't think it is fair. You want a war now?

While the Guffordians where blockading, or attempting to blockade TUC national waters the taskforce sent by the Grand Armada cleaved through the waters of the south atlantic. Crew where preparing combat systems and training turrets up and down as finaly preparations began in the holds of the LPD's.

A brigade of marines was sent with the taskforce inside six LPD's of the Grand Armada and their support troops followed in a Rosian class transport. ETA was two hours untill the blockade...

At sixty miles off shore the taskforce's escort carrier launched a Thunderhawk transport towards the Dumpsterdanian embassy, the company of marines inside where to fortify and reinforce the two companies already present there, the craft transmitted its ID signature and its destination to TUC air controll and then proceeded on to the embassy grounds in the middle of a cleared patch of jungle.

200 Marines were sent by train to the suburbs of Libreville. Marching for two hours straight they encountered the Loyalist force. Commander Faltho of the Government forces sent a message to ex-king Daniel, it read:

We have outnumbered you 2 to 1. If you wish to survive surrender now and I can assure that you will be sent back into exile, unharmed. But if you press on with your attack I will be forced to attack. Don't make me do this.

The Ex-King soon replied:

I have come here witha worthy cause, to restore myself upon the throne, myself and my guards will fight until our claims are recognized! We will march on!

Commander Faltho issued the order for attack, his men marched forward, guns in hand, much to the surprise of everybody everyman knelt down on his knees towards his Highness, a symbol of respect. They all shouted "Forgive us your Grace for our treachery! We swear allegiance to your cause! Commander Faltho, who happened to be nearby, falsely declared "Our new King!" We march upon Libreville! By the time they got to the city many people looked with awe when they saw their King, they had remained loyal even after all these months had gone by. No resistance was noted, the city just.... surrendered, even the garrison.

We'll send military transportplanes to brazzaville,to take our staff home...

Noted, thank you for your co-operation.

A telegram sent to the President of The Upper Congo

Sir, it is with great regret that I must inform you of the capture of Libreville by forces loyal to the King. No-one was harmed in the take-over and the city garrison of 2,000 men have joined together with the Loyalists. They are currently marching South towards Owando. The city garrison is loyal to our government and has chosen to fight against the evil foe. Do you wish to authorise a full-out attack against the Royalists?

President Koberman soon replied

I am glad to see we still have support within our ranks, the treachorus people of Libreville shall pay for their mistrust and misfortune in our great plan for the nation. I have spoken to the Head of the 1st, 4th, 9th and 10th Armies and we can dispatch some 14,000 men within 45 minutes of recieving this telegraph. If you think you need the men notify me immediatley.

The message never arrived, Owando could be DOOMED.

Permission GRANTED. If you agree with our request you will need to let us check for any illegal substances of any kind.

President Koberman called General Deary to his office

"What are we to do with the situation in Owanda, we can't send troops because of the strong allied presence that might intervene, I am left clueless" said General Deary
"General, you have had past military experience, have you not?"
"Yes Sir, I crushed the Loyalist rebellion and the Communist one within 12 hours of each other"
"So you can do it again, the King is heavily afraid of you"
"But sir, we do not have the same amount of men we had back then!"
"I have experiecne in the Navy and airforce, I will handle those two branches, you will cooperate with my orders"
"What are you planing sir?"
"A blitskrieg, we bomard the enemy, attack them with our tanks and finish them off with light infantry!"
"But sir, one important facture in our success, what if the enemy intervene?"
"Fight to the death, give the enemy hell. I already have my subs, cruisers and machine gun boats on their tails every waking hour, if they make one wrong move towards our direction we will make it hell in the ocean!
"What about the missile silos and airforce?"
"The missile silios are aimed at Guffingfords following ships:

1 Xerxes 1st class flagship
5 Zumwalt class stealth destroyers
9 Kidd class destroyers
20 Dolphin class attack submarines
20 LA class attack/defence submarines
10 Kraken class attack/defence submarines
10 Seawolf class attack submarines

Our missiles wont destroy all of them but will badly damage most.
Guffingford
09-03-2005, 21:23
OOC: You do know this means you are going to die. The Xerxes flagship is fully protected to withstand EMP and has many defensive features to destroy incoming ICBM or other surface launched ballistic missiles.
Surface launced ballistic missiles cannot target submarines, unless you want the fallout to his them. And unless you RP something to get around the massive stealth features on the zumwalt class its ignored.

IC:
"ALARM! Incoming ballistic missiles!"
"Disable all equipment and send an emergency signall to SC. Activate all precautions, and fire the anti-radar canisters and target them at the missiles."
"Sir, it's too la..."

Before this happened the alarm bell rang at strategic command, it seems The Upper Congo decided to be stupid. Stupid people they are, they have just asked for the same faith Godular and Glemte Hage have witnessed. All of the vessels targetted and some others - including two Aasimar's, a Belknap, a Zumwalt, and four Dardo's have been destroyed in the blast. The rest of the ships have suffered major damage by the shockwaves, though, the EMP did not do very much damage, our ships are well protected against EMP strikes. When the Führer heard this news he was appalled and shocked. His first question was whether Captain Max Dafydd was still alive - yes he was. Thank God, the catastrophe is not as bad as he thought it was. Options? A full-scale chemical and biological strike. Bombing the nation to dust, using agent orange to de-leaf the rainforest, dumping toxic waste... Endless choices. Deployment of humans is out of the question in the first stages, their airforce is nothing. We must focus on destroying them from a distance, like shooting fish in a barrel.

*****

From the carriers who have not been targets by the TUC missiles all fighter and bombers took off, loaded with Sarin nerve gas. Their mission was to annahilate all Congo citizens. Fighters gave vital backup while the bombers dropped their lethal charges above Pointe Noire, Madingo-Kayes, Loubombo and Kayes. Above all of these cities large clouds of this deadly mist were hanging, the most lethal smog you can imagine. From the remaining ships who are still able to operate all missiles were fired at the capital city of Brazzaville, around thousand MIRV missiles.

OOC2: Realistic numbers please. When Sarin bombs are dropped like I am doing now the death rate will go in the tens of millions. Sarin is an odorless, colourless gas so saying you grab gasmasks isn't really possible.

They have agreed on a resolution providing monetary and military aid to the rebels. We will be sending any spare money or weaponry that we can.

In other news, the Dumpsterdanian embassy is still operational and its garrison has begun laying more mines in the 500 meter clearing at all sides. We expect no TUC troops to intervene this close to the shore, since our battleships are within striking range of the embassy compounds while in international waters.

The President of The Upper Congo has today declared war upon our sworn enemy Guffingford. Our docks are highly guarded with heavy artillery protectted in heavy-duty bunkers, mines have been scattered by hundreds of airplanes across the coastline where any invasion is possible and the Army is recieving more funds than ever to get ready for the pest that call's itself Guffingford. We have experience fighting against them, another blow to their ego won't do much harm?

In a secret meeting with Prime Minister Honders with Muslamic-Terrorist Rhiad. A taped message went like this;

"Good to see you Rhiad, your fighting men are highly trained and are worth the effort you have put into them"
"Thank you, hours of practice has seemed to make us a major threat to your nation!"
"I have been sent here by President Koberman with a proposition"
"Tell me it then!"
"If you join our fight against Guffingofrd we can assure you control of Angola, the country you seem to desire"
"What if we refuse?"
"Our men will crush your dreams and flatten your villages"
"I accept, where do you need us to attack first?"
"I need you to send 10 fanatics with plausable alibies to the Guffingford capital city, from there on you will need to destroy any government building, any political leader and anybody that stands in your way"
"It shall be done, hopefully this agreement will bring peace to our region"
"I am sure it will, also we need you to send suicide attacks upon Guffingfords navy, our missiles have done a lot of damage, we need you to just finish it off"
"Fine, but beware, if your break your part of the promise hell will ensue"

The tape was sent to President Koberman, who was by now a recluse in his concrete fortress, safe with two armies, a whole mechanized division and 400 guards and 70 dogs protecting him and his family. Nothing would stop his plan of restoring communism to all who oppose. Nothing.................

From the Ticonderoga class cruisers a non-stop fire of tomahawk missiles began, locked on all of the vile red bases. This time anti-ICBM satellites had been redirected to scan the battlezone for activity, and it would prove difficult to let missiles slip past all the security. In the meantime more ships had arrived from Cape Verde. B52's continued to bombard the countryside with chemical and biological weaponry (tabun and smallpox; geneticly engineered) causing even more unnecessary deaths among the civillian population of The Upper Congo.
