War on Piracy (FT, invited pirates only, open to normal nations)

The Imperial Navy
03-03-2005, 11:48
OOC: Ok this thread is dealing with Piracy in Imperial space, and will focus on an Imperial Pirate. If a pirate nation wishes to join in, they must telegram me first. Otherwise, all other nations are welcome.

IC: Covoy Alpha-7 was en-route to Tydus prime, with a cargo-hold full of Mining equiptment on each craft. Patroling alongside them, was a fighter squadron, Falcon squadron.

"I'm getting strage readings, but it could just be the Nebula."

"Rodger. Keep an eye on that."

On board the merchant flagship, Anubis, Commander Donalds paced back and forth with impatience.

"12 convoys have been ambushed along this route in the week. 12 for the moons sake!"

His subcommander, Tanya put her hand on his shoulder.

"And that is why we were given an escort. Don't worry, nothing will happen to us."

"Tell that to Beta-5. Entire crew killed, shipment of precious metals looted."

"I'm sure we'll be safe... I mean..."

Alert. Alert. Hostiles detected. Hostiles detected. Battlestations.

"SHIT! All crews to the cannons!"

Surely enough, large numbers of fighters were surging from the nebula, shooting at the latches holding the cargo containers.

"I knew they wer using that nebula for cover. Falcon squad, Attack!"

The squad of 12 TID Interceptors were doing a pretty good job, mopping up the attacking fighters with ease, while dodging incomming fire.

"I don't know why these flies caused them so much bother."

A sudden huge yellow burst blasted from the nebula, engulfing the command cargo vessel. From the nebula surged a ship of frightening size, larger than a Razor class Battlecruiser. It looked like a mish-mash of several old Imperial cruisers wealded together and upgraded. It had the body and engine of a Star destroyer, the command deck of a G'rnack heavy cruiser, and the shield generators of a Angel class carrier.

"What the hell?!?"

"Falcon leader, get clear! Go to hyperspace and report this! We'll keep them busy until you get away!"

"I won't abandon you or the cargo vessels!"

Another blast sliced another cargo vessel in 2.

"There won't be any cargo ships in a second. GO!"

A large number of fighters surged from the pirate vessel. More were comming, too many...

"GOOOO!"

Reluctantly, Falcon leader turned his ship and began to flee. He began to power up his hyperdrive.

"Protect him until he's clear!"

The fighters flew into the fray, attacking fighters in an attempt to draw attention away from Falcon leader. Luckily, their ploy paid off, and he made it.

"He did it! Now, let's go down in glory! Rig a collision course with that ship!"

The fighters grouped together and set full burn into the cruiser... but that yellow laser simply sliced out again, vaporising the remaining fighters. The remaining cruisers were swiftly eliminated, despite trying to surrender. A distress signal was sent shortly before their destruction...

----------------------------------------

Captain Cervantes of the Pirate cruiser Destructor Chuckled to himself.

"Heh heh heh. Fools! Ok men, pick up the cargo pods and lets go home."

Having collected the loot, the vessel disapeared into the Nebula once more...

Thank you. we wish you luck in your crusade as well.

-Earth-

The Fighter shot out of hyperspace over Earth, Quickly heading for Imperial airspace-and the protection of the defence platforms.

"Imperial command come in, code Hellfire! Landing at the following co-ordinates!"

Tapping furiously into the console, he made his landing.

-Imperial Palace, 2 hours later-

Lord Gregory and the Emperor were in heavy military discussion.

"According to the pilots interrogation, The pirates are back in force. Suggest we send Imperial battlegroup back to the co-ordinates and mop them up My Emperor."

"Gregory that would be exactly what they want. I'll bet they're waiting for us. What we need is covert operations. Activate and contact the 6th fleet. Admiral Yarris and his boys can infiltrate and destroy them from within."

"Yes my Emperor."

Lord Gregory quickly typed up the secret code in the console, and activted the transmitter.

Please enter voice verification. Level 1 access only.

"Gregory, Frank. Grand lord of Imperial Military command."

Accepted.

The screen came on, and a man dressed in Black Imperial uniform swung around in his swivel chair.

"My Emperor. What is your wish?"

"Yarris. We're sending you all the data via encoded transmission, as well as your orders. You know what to do."

Yarris punched a pad, and quickly read through.

"It will be done my Lord, and my Emperor. For the glory of the Empire. Yarris out."

The screen flicked off.

"Are you sure we can trust him Gregory?"

"More than likely, my Emperor. He's the best covert officer we have. His victory will be swift."

The Borg Collective Of Blackgrue is willing to send 1 tactical cube, 2 fusion cubes and 5 normal cubess to help you wih your piracy problem. They all have a standard compliment of escourts assigned to them (mostly assimilaters and interdictors although thre are a few diamonds, demonspikes, demons teeth and spheres lying around)
The Imperial Navy
03-03-2005, 14:52
Your help is apreciated. All we need right now though is more escorts for our merchant vessels. An operation is underway to deal with the pirates, but i'm afraid we can't tell you more than that.

03-03-2005, 14:56
Escorts you say TIN? We could maybe provide escorts if you wished?
BLACKGRUE
03-03-2005, 14:57
In that case cubes would be unnacceptible based on their low manuveravility. we instead offer 20 assimilators, 5 interdictors, 20 spheres, 20 demons teeth, and 15 demon spikes. these are all VERY light compared to the cubes.

FTL-Wave transmission incomming:

Greetings.
This is the United Enclave Forces (UEF) High-Command.
We heared about your problems with beeing attacked by pirates. The basement of civilisation is merchandising, wether it is between villages or the stars. Attacking this basement means to attack civilisation itself.
We would be pleased to help you, as our sphere of economic interest is far away from yours.
With your permission a convoy of eight Medusa-class carriers will enter your space fourteen hours after you reached this message.
Each carrier carries 100 fighters, designed to attack capital-ships. These fighters do not have FTL capabiltiy so the carriers will have to escort the merchantmen and to deploy the fighters if neccessary.

Looking forward to blowing some pirates out of space.

Since we have been accepted as escorts the nation of Maldaathi will hearby send 8 'Justice' class Destroyers. Each ship has 500 marines and a hangar large enough to hold 150 fighters. They also have marine shuttles for ship to ship boarding. We hope they can be of assistance.

OOC: I understand I can't destroy the big pirate ship with the wicked laser due to story lines.

As the Nation of Hakurabi is currently unable to supply military support, we can recruit privateers from the civilian populace to defend your merchant ships. Many of our civilians are known to own heavy fighters, and some even corvettes or frigates. As such, we have a fairly substantial mercenary base to draw upon.

Indeed, with the prospect of work like this, many of the able pilots are forming into squadrons, intrigued by the chance to leave their work behind, if only for a little while.

Soon, the bulletin boards proclaimed "Individual Citizens to be recruited for escort work in The Imperial Navy space, Enquire at nearest interface unit."

Flight squadrons signed up in droves, who were soon tested and sent through hyperspace to recieve escort assignments.

It wasn't long before the first squadrons arrived, fitted with a range of weapons and shields.

A refit freighter then entered the system, and began heading towards the nearest planet.

OOC: The 'Privateer' idea is a little different - The ships are fitted with a 'battle merit' device (insert technobabble), which records 'credits' which are in turn used in fitting the craft with equipment.

It goes something like this.

The pilot can 'purchase' a package that provides them with a long range fighter and basic loadouts. From there, they learn to fly it and are allocated a certain amount of credits depending on their score. They can train in a simulator for however long they want, and they are awarded further credits in completing different challenges in the simulator.

In actual battles, the battle merit unit judges performance, kills, etc. (don't ask how), and changes the credit limit accordingly.

Pilots who are forced to eject will lose credits based on the circumstances.

The credits are not so much 'spent' but more a limit - equipment can total up to the credit amount.

This system is handy in that it ensures that more skilled pilots recieve equipment that is less likely to be lost in combat.

They surged through the tradelane gracefully, their engines emmiting a healthy blue glow.

"Check sector x of quadron 7. There's some odd readings there."

"Just a flock of space eels. Don't worry, everything's fine."

--------------------------------

Hiding within the nebula, the Destructor made it's plans.

"Captain Cervantes, large convoy approachin', and she's carrying food!"

"Good, this'll feed us for a week. Prepare for ambush!"

"Captain, I'm picking up alien ships alongside them!"

"Never mind. As long as we have the Lethe cannon, nothing can stand against us!"

"Aye sir. Preparing to move."

One of the pirates slowly backed out, and exited the deck. Walking into a dark corner, he activated a handheld command console. Admiral Yarris appeared on screen.

"Report"

"It seems sir, that we have discovered who stole the experimental Lethe cannon."

"I had a feeling that was the case. Continue undercover, and see if you can sabatage the ship in any way. We will arrive soon."

"Aye sir. Covert unit 6 out."

-------------------------------------

The Destructor exited the Nebula, weapons armed, ready to train her guns on the alien ships. Fighters roared from her bays, and spilled out over the convoy.

"Kill 'em all! And take anything not boarded down!"

The Ships reacted instantly to the threat. They launched their fighters, which numbered One thousand two Hundred. They each had four Missiles and their machine cannons. The Battlestars anti Fighter cannons began fireing, their small Blue Bolts moved up in rapid fire. Then the top cannons moved up, and the eight Double Shadow Cannons pointed towards the Enemy battleship.

-Fire on my mark, Ready, Move, fire!- Came a Mechanical comunication to all ship.

There was a slight ripping sound, which didn't travle outside the Ships, but not visible shots had been fired. They where there though, Four hundred and Eighty Black Lances moved towards the ships, their only signs the fact the stars where bloted out when they moved past them.

The cannons lanced out, targeting an alien vessel. It began a cutting motion, trying to slice the vessel in half, while Fighters engaged one another.

"Kill 'em! Kill 'em all!"

Communique to TIN.

Your problems are obviously stemming from a strong pirate fleet, with a charistmatic leader. He must be taken out, and immediantely. If nessecary, we will offer one of our Destroyers the job of planning he appropriate amubush against the Pirate. When you wish, they will strike quickly and annihilate him. And let me assure you, one Destroyer is easily up to the job.

The First ship, taken offguard, was cut in half, Exploding in Purple fire. The Weapon turned on a second ship, encountering no as much luck. A huge shadow had moved into the path of the weapon, holding, if barly, the powerful weapon. The Sheild followed the deadly weapon, seeming that it was always about to crumble, but it never actually did.

The Fighters where taking out their counterparts, the fact they where outnumbered countered by the Anti ship fire coming from the Warships. The Missiles On the hammerheads wings would be taking their toll as well, with the cold in space, the heat, trail and frequencie would make the attackers moral weaken.

The Ships themselves fired their Shadow Cannons towards the enemy ships, targeting anything big enough to warrent the cannons attetions.

Enemy ships, leave now and you will not be ended, if our sheild buckles you will be destroied. Came a mechanical voice on the enemy ships. While back at Terra Hevon the message was the location of the attack. Also giving a time they would protect the ships before launching three stars in Suicide while Shadowing the rest of the forces they had, Ten minutes.

Spaceport of Maldaathi, Maldaathi
Officer Martinez paced in front of his Navy Pilots. Contemplating the mission his officers were to face.

"Ok men. The Imperial Navy sent out a declaration of war against space pirates attacking her trade routes and raiding the cargo transports. We are going to be dispatched as escorts for said transports against further pirate attacks. Reports have said the pirates appear from the nebula and then launch a superweapon that wipes out all escorts. But the difference? WE WONT FALL!"

The pilots raised their fists to the air in a declaration of defiance. No pirate would bring these pilots down.

"After we dispatch the Imperial Pilots, you are to link up with The Imperial Navy forces who will then allocate you a cargo team to escort. Should you encounter the pirates try to DISABLE the pirate destroyer and raid the ship for the said laser. You have your orders, now to your ships and dock onto the 'Justice' Class Destroyers. For the Emperor!"

"For the Emperor!"

They saluted each other then turned to their ships.

The said ship was crushed in the flurry of fire, along with the Sheild that looked like Spilt ink. Immidietly all bets where off, and the fighters for all but three of the ships initiated Combat landings. Sheilds where put to full strangth and the ships moved as close to the Transports as possible, while the Three ones with remaining units moved towards the ships. One was torn apart, but the second and third held.

In a few minutes, there was what looked like a massive black bag that came from nowhere and consumed the Ships and their Charges. When the hole left, only the two ships remained. These immidietly overloaded their engins and they exploded in a Black Outmoving shadow. These would not reach the most powerful ship, but the smaller fighters and other such would be consumed.

The Ships waited in the Realm of Anuar, but was soon droped out in the Destination of the convoy.

Losses where heavy, how did Pirates get such weaponry? came a critical voice.

A Shadow Sheild would work, but it took the Sheild power of all of our ships to hold enough to use one. And even then, the thing snapped under pressure from anything else. I am not up to the task, but Lithia may be. Perhapse.......

The Destroyers exited hyperspace to find a floating wreckage. TIN cargo transports were utterly destroyed. The chances of survivors was close to none. The Admiral who was leading the escort group shuddered to think what could have caused this much destruction in such a short amount of time. As the small group wandered through-out the fleet the Admiral noticed something odd. There was very little remains of Lessir Tsurani escorts. If TIN convoys were under attack it would make sense that their would be escorts. Lessir Tsurani offered assistance and had been ordered to protect a convoy. Maybe this was the convoy? Why wern't there MORE fighters or Destroyers littering the area?

"Launch a small amount of marines to conduct a search of the various TIN vessels. Search for survivors and check for remaining supplies."

"Why supplies sir?"

"Well if the supplies have been raided it can be safely assumed that pirates conducted this ruthless attack."

"Yes sir!"

"This is a message from group Admiral, Admiral Beretil. All marine search parties head to the search pods. You are to search bombed out Imperial Navy vessel to verify what supplies and survivors are left behind. Report back within 30 minutes. Come back safely."

"Good job officer."

"Thank you Admiral."

7 Search pods were launched into the wreckages. The pilots skillfully manourvering around the debris. Pod #371 was the first to land inside a destroyed TIN cargo transport... or what was left of it. The pod hatch opened up and 5 marines rushed out guns raised incase of any pirates remained onboard. They rushed down what remained out a hallway watching the scanners built into their suits. One marine turned to his commander and spoke softly.

"S s sir? I have located a lifeform. They are nearly dead, I keep losing the signal."

The commander turned to the lowly soldier and surveyed him through his mask. The sign of a veteran.

"Lead the way soldier."

The soldier nodded his head and raised his gun to his left and began to rush down a severely destroyed hall before stopping at a wrecked door.

"Sir the vital signs are fading and the only apparent way to him is through this wrecked door."

The commander let out a heavy sigh before pointing to a heavy weapon specialist behind him.

"You there. Do you have a explosive device of any type on you?"

"Yes sir! I have this XE-Type 90 explosive charge."

"Yeah that'll work. All units head down the hall while this man plants his explosive. Set the timer for 10 seconds. Afterwards you gun it down the hall and wait for it to go off. Hopefully it will move the door without causing critical damage to the hull."

"So be it." the replied in unision.

The squad rushed down the hall and around the corner while the shaking soldier knelt down to place the charge. He put the charge down and began to type rapidly into a comm unit on his arm. He turned and ran down the hall yelling.

"Charge set! Hit the floor! Hit the floor!"

The squad layed prone on the floor as the heavy weapon soldier ran as fast as he could out of the blast zone.

3...2...1...

He skidded and began to jump as the charge went off. The blast blew the door into nothingness and sent the marine hurtling in the opposite direction of his team. As the force of the blast ended the team stood and began to mourn the loss of a fellow soldier for a few moments.

"May the Emperors family watch over his soul."

"His, ours, and the nation of Maldaathi." they replied together with a hint of sadness in each marines voice.

"Alright men let us go. How is the vitals on the lifeform?"

"Steady sir, for now anyhow."

"Move out then!"

The Marine took lead again heading down the now destroyed hall. Now the door had been destroyed the squad could successfully see what layed beyond.. the control room.

"Sir I believe the survivor is a TIN pilot." the marine called to his commander over the sound of the feet of his fellow marines pounding behind him.

They reached the door in a haste.

"It can be opened but it will needed to be done manually. All of the squad open the door as I provide overwatch." The Commander turned and raised his Bolt Rifle sight to his eye as his marines slowly opened the control room door.

The door creaked and opened with some force to find a solitary pilot struggling to breathe on the floor.

"Commander we found him."

The pilot looked up and let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god. We were.... argh attacked by pirate... Lessir Tsurani escorts fled.. laser desimated our fleet and remaining escorts... send word... TIN doesn't know... communications knocked out... after distress signal sent. Go now."

The pilot closed his eyes and his head hit his chest. A marine checked his pulse.

"Nothing sir."

"Ok Im going to send a databurst to the group."

Databurst to Maldathian Escort Group
Send word to TIN that pirates attacked the convoy and Lessir Tsuranian escorts fled. Pirates used a destructive laser. Get info on laser. No survivors. Returning to fleet.
End Transmission

"Allright men head back to the fleet!"

OOC: Lessir Tsurani, TIN said that there were no survivors and that your escorts fled. Arm and fingers hurts..

The squadrons began to form up at the nearest TIN planet, awaiting assignment to one of the convoys.

They floated silently in space, as the freighter communicated with those on the planet.

OOC: I'll just be waiting for the next convoy.

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, had no chance to go online yesterday)

The eight carriers, each of them formed like a large spindle and about 1.5 kms long, fell out of the hyperspace (or however you would call it).

A few nanoseconds later (as soon as the computers had had enough time to check the surroundings, double-check the results and mark the discovered ships as possible enemies) the alarm sounded.

Fighter and gun crews manned their ships and stations and before the alien ships were able to answere the order to identify the carriers were ready for battle.

No one on board of the carriers knew that the hakurabian (?) ships were allies. At the moment every non-UEF or TIN ship was supposed to be a pirate unless it was able to convince the UEF-crews of the contrary.

"Attention Hostile Alien Vessel. This is the Hakurabian Refit Freighter Capsiacin. We are here on assignment as merchant escorts. Identify yourself."

Detecting the armed weapons, the Privateer squadrons responded in kind, turrets emerging from the larger vessels, and fighters locking on the various ship bays and turrets.

OOC: You're unidentified, and have weapons online - therefore, you must be hostile.

OOC We didn't flee, Iscs made a tatical desision, realised his ships would have only died without causeing damage after the Shadow sheild went down and went to the desination point to Rave at TIN how he lost so many ships and asked WHY!

IC Iscs ran the files again, numbers perfect. That was the problem he mused. He had been running the lasers power output through a program that made calculations on how much power was needed to indefinetly create a sheild. He had done it, perfectly, the problem was the power required was more then a common EverKingdom World. He made the equivilent of a sigh and tried again.

"Capsiacin, this is the fourth carrier squadron of the United Enclave Forces. If you are here to support and escort TIN merchant ships, we're allied forces. Turn off your offensive armament untill we are able to confirm that."
(UEF officers, and especially the empyrean ones, are known for there arrogance. And beeing the commanding officer of a carrier squadron sometimes makes it even worse).

At the same time a request for information about any hakurabian ships supporting merchant-ships was sent to TIN.

The final scout marines finished their search of the wrecked debris that was once a marvellous fleet of merchant cargo transports and re boarded their designated 'Justice' Class Destroyer. A cloud hung over the entire escort fleets heads. They had lost 4 men on just routine scouting.

The Head Admiral of the Escort Fleet slumped into the debrief room to address his marines and give them a status report.

"Atten hut!"

The marines stopped the chatter and stood to attention raising their palms to the right side of each persons chest.

"At ease soldiers."

The soldiers lowered their arms and widened their stance.

"Today was a bad day for many nations. 'Escorts' have been destroyed and some showed cowardice, merchant ships have been raided and then pillaged and then to our losses..." The Admiral lowered his head solemnley. "We lost 4 marines. 4 marines! On a routine scouting mission! Sad but still unacceptable. We have not recieved a message from TIN as of yet so our next course is to head to a TIN System and dock to await further allocations or until we are recalled to Maldaathi. We are positive pirates attacked the convoy but we are still unsure as to what kind of weapon caused so much destruction without leaving a trace of the weapon itself. The Imperial Navy has not disclosed details to us of yet but when they are released we shall act accordingly. Anyway, dismissed." he waved his hand away.

As the situation was diffused, the weapons powered down, though shields were still online.

Meanwhile, the chatter with the base continued.

Some of the ships returned to the freighter to be fitted with training weapons (just special low-power lasers that the device interprets for score) and shielding (just in case).

Soon, the squadrons were engaging in friendly combat, and little red and blue lines were to be seen passing between squadrons.

"A toast to a most prosperous victory!"

Cervantes drank deep of his wine, as he and his men feasted on a massive food haul. A few cries came from the crowd.

"Captain, you're the best thing ever to happen to us!"

"Yeah captain you're alright!"

"Fools! You don't even deserve me. You'd still be raiding scrap ships if it werent for me!"

"Err... anyway captain. We have enough food to last a month. What will we do until then?"

"We continue our attacks! You can never have too much of a good thing. Return us to the Nebula. It is time to suprise our next target!"

The man nodded, and then left the room. He then flipped open his comm device.

"Admiral Yarris. We're being returned to the nebula. On the next attack, i'm going to see if I can extract the Weapon encoding chip."

"Understood. Try your best. That chip effectively IS the weapon. And if you fail..."

"I shall activate my tracker, so you can hunt down and destroy the ship with the moonstone cannon."

"Now you understand your orders. Get to it soldier."

Iscs made the Calculations againt, wishing not for the first time he had Lithia helping him. He was about to give up until he noticed a small problem, one single number that if done right could manipulate the hole power draw. He laughed.

-I have it, it might however be a problem, we need half a planets worth of power, please respond.-

As soon as the hakurabian ship turned off the weapons energy, the fourth carrier squadron went from condition red to yellow, what meant that weapons and shields were still on-line but the tracing was set to passiv mode.
As always the crews took the chance to train their tracing abilities and fired dozends of salvos of virtual missiles and energy beams upon the smaller hakurabian ships.
Meanwhile the fighter crews were sitting in their small coffins of steel, ready to start and blast anything out of the skies...and mourning about the unfinished illegal game-of-chance session at the pilots' mess.

It was eating time aboard the commanding vessel which was planned to be the last meal at the TIN Merchant Fleet Wreckage and the Admiral was digging in. The loud sound of knives and forks clashing against plates was all that could be heard aboard the Destroyer in the Mess Hall. Admiral Goron picked a few bones out of his genetically bred chicken when a Petty Officer appeared behind him and tapped his shoulder.

"Im sorry to disturb you sir but we have recieved word from The Imperial Navy requestion permission to make contact."

The Admiral sighed deeply and began to lick the chicken flavour off his fingers before wiping them onto a nearby napkin.

"Lord Gregory sure does have great timing... right at dinner time! Dinner!"

The Admiral continued mumbling as he stood, pulling his gloves on, and followed the petty officer to the control bridge.

"Did they disclose anything else in this said message."

"No Admiral sir, just a request to make contact."

The door to the bridge sensed the 2 officers movement via a advanced AI and a nearby surveillence camera which was armed with advanced weaponry.

Name ID# and Password

The admiral began to look restless and put his hand on his hip.

"Admiral Joseph Goron. ID#3395-7105. Password is..." The Admiral stepped closer to the password reciever that just came down from the roof.

The Admiral stepped through the now open door followed by the officer.

"Alright... Lets see this message."

"Now let's get down to business Admiral. We are preparing a suprise attack on the Pirate vessel with a covert fleet. We cannot discuss that further. Now, we have agents already on board the pirate ship, attempting to steal the chip powering their superweapon, the top secret Lethe Cannon, stolen from us by Captain Cervantes... who helped to develop it. We need more agents, and we ask you to send any covert workers you may have, and we'll gurentee we can get them on board."
