Wow. I'm honoured to be on here, and with some people I consider the best of the best.

Also, I voted "Other" because I think it's bad form on something like this to vote for yourself. Especially when I genuinely respect some of the other people on this list as RPers.

AMF. All the others can't really compare to the sheer detail and atmosphere in his posts.

I would go with Sarzonia if the other choice weren't there. But i also agree with GE and Euro,and Sarzonia, there are alot of good RPers. Such as GE and Euro are both good RPers.

Well, I won't vote on this simply because there's a few extremely good RPer's there, however I will say this:

AMF - Brilliant story writer, but not wholly a wonderful RPer at times, yes he writes a mean storyline but perhaps it's too detailed sometimes? It's a matter of opinion, also I hate his brown-nosing crowd.

Sarzonia - One of my Allies-Enemies (I don't think either of us know which one we are), from what i've read of your stuff and the limited Diplomatic RPing i've done with you, you are excellent indeed.

Generic Empire - Read a lot of your stuff, due to having to review your RPing for several alliances. Excellent stuff all round.

Layarteb - An ex-RWC friend, never really knew you that well but you do have excellent RPing skills (see Earth II stuff generally).

The Parthians - I must say I like your Character RPing of the Shah loads, especially in the short time of the Evil Dicators Club thread. You military stuff isn't quite so good but still to a very high standard.

Of course there are many RPer's whose material i've read, which is of excellent quality, despite what the NS boarder's say about II, we do have our fair share of excellent RPers.

You can't judge somones RP'ing skill on opinion.

The Merchant Guilds hit it on the head as to one reason I didn't feel comfortable voting in this poll. There are plenty of people on this list who are very, very good.

AMF - Tells an awesome story and is one of the people I considered a mentor when I was beginning my RP experience here on NS.

Generic Empire - If he's the future of writing, it is a bright future indeed. That was the first thing I noticed about him.

Praetonia - From his very first post on NS, he brought a sense of realism to his country. Also a very, very good writer.

Pacitalia - Even though he won't read this, he does a great job of creating a story and is one of the people I look to for inspiration with special operations RPs.

Other folks I haven't seen enough of to comment, but there are a good many terrific RPers right here on I.I. You just have to know where to look.

Truthfully there is no best rper ... so the point is moot that’s what I find I didn’t vote sure there are some better than others but there’s no best..

There are a lot of respectable roleplayers on this list. I voted for AMF, because I've read more of his RPs than any of the others on the list. Great story, detail (sometimes a little to much) and environment.

Two others that I think should be on this list are Pantera and Amerigo. Old schools RPers.


And for worst RPer.....well, I won't give names. But it is a mispelled version of a famous final fantasy villain.

Before I forget, thanks to everyone who voted for me or who thinks highly enough of my work that they've considered voting for me even if they voted for someone else. It's gratifying to see people appreciate the efforts of people who invest their time and effort into this game.

Mike, only an idiot wouldn't think highly of your work. Your writing is better than 99.999999999% of all the books out there. ;)

"Other" for various obvicous reasoning, I've seen excellent RP from many players, a large number aren't on this list... some of them have only got a very small amount of posts because they are limited in the time they can spend on NS and others simply just don't post on International Incidents because most of the subject matter doesn't interest them.

Unsung role models of mine: Gehenna for her strong character roleplay and excellent character depth, Nathicana for her organisational skills (looking at the Coronation Thread which was 100% throughout despite how much of a nightmare it was to organise) as well as her high quality writing. Scolo because I love his puppets and the effort he puts into building and roleplaying all his nations completely to the concept he builds...

There are also many nations which I rate throughout Nationstates and International Incidents who I feel have improved at an exponential rate... I like it when players learn from their experiences and act on what they've learned. These players are too numberous to meantion all of them but I'm sure many of them know who they are from my compliments in the past on IRC or MSN or even in the thread itself.

So meh, is there a best role-player in NS? Damned if I know, even my favorite role-players (who I know are better then me, I may be arrogant as fuck but I know I'm hardly the best around here) have different strengths which cannot really be compared to one another. Ulimately this thread is kinda just a pointless way of flattering a small number of players when there are many who are getting better... and in my opinion I would rather celebrate those who are improving then those who are the best. Those who are the best are celebrated by their excellent RP and the fun they have.

There is no such thing as "best roleplayer". AMF is good, I also write good stories (heard it from many people), Austar Union also writes good stuff, Dread Lady Whatever, Treznor, Iraqstan... All of the NS writers have not been included, only II.

Sure there is a best RP'er. It's the person who does the best job out there in terms of RP'ing, content, and personality. I should add as a remark that this list is sorely lacking.

Different RPers excell in diferent things. For instance, AMF may be one of the best war RPers, but Steel Butterfly is definately the best character RPer. If there is going to be a "best RPer" thread, then at least take into consideration different categories.

I voted others mainly for reasons already discussed. I don't believe there is a 'best RPer', and each RPer has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. I guess what makes the better RPers is their ability to exploit other's weaknesses and I think what makes a good war RPer is the RPers ability to improvise on the scene.

Seriously, man, you're one of the first people who took me under his wing on NS when I first started. You were one of the chief inspirations behind the Portland Iron Works. I wouldn't be half the storefront owner I am now without your example to lead the way, and I don't think I would have done as well with this country as I have without you.

I'd have to vote for Sarzonia, if only because they have outfitted nearly my entire military. But seriously, trawling through the forums there are some excellent RPrs out there, who sometimes only post every now and then. Spend just ten minutes looking through and you can always find something interesting and well written.

AMF does have the sheer detail backing him up, and a really rich (if not confusing) history. Of course, no RPer starts out good. AMF started out by invading some other nation, which he did with a horde of allies and took over the capital before the other nation even reacted.

Then again, I guess I'd have to relate. We've all been bad RPers at somepoints in our RP history. My first war (where I butted into a good RP between White Tundra and Dresden) I sent 300 tanks through the enemy line and took the enemy's casualties. I didn't even know what "ooc" meant.

Speaking of ooc, shouldn't this be in the general forum? Or shouldn't it say OOC on the title? Just a thought.

That is certainly a solid list of great RPers...but my experience on NS is that some of the best writers and crafters of RPs often don't engage in the wide-spread RPs that offer "fame".

Take The Evil Overlord for example - great and highly detailed RPs - some of which didn't involve any other nations! Great stuff - but mostly unread.

I'd suggest that anyone who puts the time and effort into crafting a detailed and plausable RP deserves recognition. It's harder than most realize.

My RP strength can be seen inside my Factbook at the RP stories.

As the author of this thread stated, this is just a poll of those nations in II. Nevertheless, I agree with many of you here, there are an good deal of nations that are excellent RPers. You cannot just put them into a folder and number them. Sorry, success is based off many different things, it's a crime to generalize it.

EDIT: Author never stated it was for II. Nevertheless, the thread is in II, which would naturally be assumed to be limited to II nations. I don't traverse into the insanity of II, I only saw this thread b/c it was on the side menu while checking up on my nation.

Indeed...other than AMF, I can run off nine other names easily (sorry, myself included) that should be on this list. If you really wanted to do a thread like this, you should have left it open ended. Tappee, New Genoa, and most of the Trium crew would make it easily.
