Jenrak is looking for a suitable Queen.

It is the second millenia of Jenrak's existence, and the country has fared extremely well, but it was nothing compared to the power of their former empire, Asherach. Now, however, is 10th year of the great Arborgard's ruling, the twelfth of his bloodline, and although he is distasteful as to his future marriage, he must go through according to ancient traditions. His Mouthe, however, is not content with merely marrying someone of Asherach's blood, but someone of foreign blood. Any nations interested in developing strong bonds with Jenrak by a marriage of someone with Arborgard will be welcome, and considered.

Arborgard stepped into the great hall with his shining robes and dazzling crown, his piercing eyes, giving a flex of power that emanated from his body. He held the stature of not a king that was strong and valourous, but a king that was efficient, effective, and would do many things to further expand the empire that was Ascherach, the shadow kingdom of the Two Lords: Nuir Enkur, the Necromancer of Vingelthrima, and Ciranaar Arkszen, the greater of the two, the black mage of Haasdra.
He had a brilliant complexion, not a handsome one, but one that fit his role; the role of warlord. His black eyes shifted across the hall as he walked the isle, and bequeathed himself onto the throne. His adamant crown, with a red ruby that belonged to Enkur stuck in the middle, and the emerald lacing from Ciranaar's robes. Skeletal hands gripping his scepter, he shifted his dark hair out of his way, as he peered at them.

(OOC: I'm just building his character description. Technically, he has no regard for human life, and he is unbelievably effective at what does: oppress people. Serrin, the person he loves, is on a ship headed towards Stewronia and Ferruga uses this as a chance to wed him before she returns and rots his freaky mind with her 'compassion'. I highly doubt anyone would want to wed him...no offense to him. Then again, I highly doubt he wants to be wed.)

Anybody interested?

Grand Duchess Cordelia Lucinda Tertia Catherine de Grawyn, leader of the Grand Duchy of Grawyn, would be pleased to meet with Arborgard, and to marry him if this meeting is a success and marriage is proposed to her.

OOC: I know that you are probably looking at this nation and thinking that I am a NOOB leaping in unprepared, Jenrak, but I assure you that I am experienced, and that I would’ve liked to use my other, larger nation for this, but my other nation has a King. Unless the good leader of Jenrak is a homosexual…

Additional: I shall post some general information and details about Grawyn soon.

OOC: Arborgard is not a homosexual. He probably would be the number one weapon against homosexuals, in fact. Just to give some details of information you would like to know about him...

IC:

Arborgard the Twelfth started out his pragmatic life as a farmer, and despite the lack of parents to nurture him, his best friend Nahk was able to watch him ever since his birth. The death of his parents is classified.
He was a disicplined young child in school, and although he was quiet and listened, he had no friends, and despised the concept of popularity.
During one day, he began to read some old scriptures from an ancient bible of Frinnm'ais, the Tome of Pain. He was compelled, and at the age of 16, when most people his age lived a normal life, he broke the language shield of the ancient tongues of Ascherach. The premise? He was the only person in the world who could speak the native tongue of our god.

Soon enough he began to fall into more and more corrupt ideals, as he began to teach himself the ways of the old traditions; pain, discipline, terror, and destruction. To make things worse, he was able to become king and eliminate vital enemy supply lines at the same time.

However, Arborgard would agree to meet with Grawyn, and the date will be at the most splendid piece of all of Jenrak; his homeland in the coastline province of Haasdra.

OOC: “Grawyn” is the name of the Country. Grand Duchess de Grawyn is the Sovereign. Lady Cordelia is acceptable in private or highly informal situations, as are any number of little nicknames, such as “Corey” if the person she is dealing with is close to her. I just thought I should clear that issue up before anything else was done.

IC:

Cordelia Lucinda Tertia Catherine de Grawyn was born into the top class of Grawyn to Grand Duke Charles Grawyn the Wise and his mistress, Lucinda Dovetail. The two had to be wed shortly thereafter to avoid disgrace, and Lady Lucinda later died under less than clear circumstances. Grand Duke Charles was no the kindest soul, and that had a negative affect on his relationship with Cordelia, who developed a natural code of honor early on in her life. She desired to be away from him as much as possible in her life, and to that end, she enlisted in the Grawyn National Police Force at no more than 16, which was the minimum age at which one could join the Police at that time.

It is said that during her time serving in the National Police, her hatred for her father became stronger and stronger as she witnessed numerous acts of oppression against her people, and was sometimes forced to take part in them.

Grand Duke Charles de Grawyn died of a mysterious heart failure on his 55th birthday and power in the Grand Duchy quickly shifted to his daughter, Cordelia, who ordered a medical autopsy to be performed at once, but the results showed that he had been a victim to a textbook heart attack.

Since assuming power, Grand Duchess Cordelia has introduced a limited Democracy. However, she still holds ultimate say in all affairs of her country.

OOC (2): Her physical decsription is being touched up now.

Constantia looked up as a servant entered the room. "Any word from Jenrak?" Her beautiful face frowned delicately.

The servant frowned, keeping his eyes lowered. "Actually, yes, Your Highness. He...rejected your offer to meet."

"But...he was the one who requested to meet foreign ladies, wasn't he?" she asked in surprise, and a little offended.

"Well, apparently, he's no longer interested in looking. He's only willing to see Grand Duchess Cordelia Lucinda Tertia Catherine de Grawyn."

Constantia frowned slightly but nodded.

Your Majesty,
I would seek an explanation as to your immensely rude refusal to respond in any way to my request, especially seeing as it was you who requested noblewomen to meet with. It is my understanding that I was the first person to respond to your request, the representative of the largest nation to do so, and responding to an invitation directed at more than one woman in its wording. This is not an insult to our nation which shall be forgetten in the future and I insist upon some explanation for your behavior.

Sincerely,
Constantia the Faithful

This is Saerus, Sage Patriarch of the Zealotry Class, Lord of Scourwe

I am despondent to your letters, noble. I am Saerus, a Sage Patriarch. I do not know what criteria was chosen for Arborgard, but I know this much; unless my knowledge is entirely flawed, it was Ferruga in charge of this. Our king has no say in this, since his knowledge is obscured.

I am sorry for Ferruga's denial of your offer, but know you must send the letters to him instead. I have intercepted this message to have Arborgard not know the entirety of the proposals. So, please if you may, direct your questions at Ferruga, not me, not my King.

A courier was sent under the aegis of the now rather irate King of Artoph himself, bearing a letter from his daughter which he refused to give to anyone except the king.

Your Majesty,
I have been informed that Your Majesty has been kept uninformed of my previous missives to you. I do not know how or why I have offended them but certain elements of Your Majesty's government seem determined to prevent my missives from reaching you, the proper person for a lady of royal blood to address, and insist that I correspond with lower functionaries of Your Majesty's government.

It is with the best of intentions that I wrote to Your Majesty to express my wish to attend what we were, apparently falsely, lead to believe was to be a gathering of many women from whom Your Majesty was to choose a bride. My missive simply went without response without anyone even bothering to know anything of me. All of this, of course, constitutes an insult not merely to me personally but to my nation. We had wished to offer our friendship to Jenrak, but now we are somewhat doubtful of the prospect. We do hope Your Majesty will rectify the insult done my country.

Sincerely,
Constantia the Faithful

*Ashili Saratirn, Red Matriarch of the Jenrak Military

Ah, so you are alleged Constantia dear Saerus talked so much about. I am Ashili, General of the Knowledgeless faction of the Jenrak army. I command quite a deal of killers under my jurisdiction, dear Constantia. Although I know that from your urgency you wish Arborgard to respond to this, I am sorry since he is currently in his private chambers, since this task of a different coronation bears much weight upon his soul.

I know your intentions are to meet a king, a lord who controls the people, but you know, the one who replied to you days ago, the Sage Saerus, does fancy you, whether you know it or not.

He might not be king, but he, like I, am a General of Military proportions, and controls a great deal of popularity amongst the people, and his equals. Many people would sacrifice themselves for him, including me. You could say, I admire him, in a mutual sense. Meeting him would indeed create strong ties with Jenrak, as well, you know.

If you wish meet Saerus, please send over more false information. I have no doubt he will be intercepting those as well. However, if you wish to continue your search to break Ferruga's hold, then I cannot help you. The wretched mouthe controls more than we thought.

The courier was not the princess. He was just a courier. He frowned at the man's words. "Then I will wait. I have orders to deliver this letter into the hand of the king and only the king. It is from one monarch to another and for any other person to respond would be an insult to our nation. Another such insult will not be forgiven. The issue is not who Princess Constantia will or will not meet. Nor is the issue to break the hold of this Ferruga. That is your internal affair and none of our concern. The issue is whether or not you deal with our government as a sovereign government. Doing so means dealing with our sovereign as a sovereign. To do otherwise is to deny to recognize our government as a sovereign government on this earth. It is to deny our existence as a state and thus to negate any chance of friendly or any other relations. If I am allowed to deliver my message to the king, then we will consider allowing this Sage Saerus to court Her Highness as the basis for what you call strong ties. If not, our king cannot enter into relations with a nation which refuses to acknowledge him as a king or his children as royalty."

Ferruga walked down the silver fountains, his robes dangling gracefully along the floor, as they tottered with him.
"Is all done?" He calmly asked a cloaked figure, tall and menacing.
"No." The figure spoke unnaturally.
"Why is your voice different?" Ferruga asked the figure.
The figure lifted his hood, and did not reveal any ordinary man; it revealed a towering, gaunt man, with one eye, rasping on life support, held up by machine.
"Nahk!" Ferruga gasped, as he was siezed by the throat violently and lifted high into the air, his feet dripping blood.
"Such a fragile body, mouthe." Nahk clicked through his life support. "When you scum took the oath, it was to preserve, not steal." He tightened his grip.
"Nahk, I can assure you, I didn't...ah!" Ferruga gasped, as Nahk gripped harder. Things were awkward for the shift of power, and it began to become more dangerous as Arborgard himself walked down the isle, headed towards the Halls of Torture.
"Let him go, Patriarch." Arborgard commanded imperiously, his voice echoing throughout the hall.
"Lord, I have caught our..." Nahk began,
"I said, let him go. You can die a second time, General, but I find that it would not be wise to kill you." He threatened.
"I found our betrayer." Nahk answered simply.
"Have you?"
"Yes. Ferruga is plotting to corrupt you. He sent out messages, openly denied one, and now he is attempting to place you in danger." Nahk answered, his grip on Ferruga loosened, unwaveringly.
"It cannot do good now. I have to meet the Grand Duchess. But I assure this will never happen again." Arborgard angrily replied, as he walked past Nahk, grabbing the mouthe Ferruga and dragging him into the Hall of Torture.
"I c-can explain, lord!" Ferruga attempted to pacify him before his death.

All that was heard in the chamber later, were two hours of blood-curdling screams.

This is Arborgard the Twelfth, to the nation of Artoph.

I am sorry for not realizing the damage done by my friend, Ferruga. It seems power destroyed him. However, that is not the matter of the message I am sending you. What is the matter is that I am sorry that I could not meet you, since my date is with the Grand Duchess. I prize loyalty above all assets.

If I could, I would ask a noble if they were interested in marrying your greatness. However, the greatest of my nobles is Nahk, who I doubt has any feelings of love. I do not if any nobles would want to marry your greatness. I will be talking to you personally from now on, unless my mind is preoccupied.
Artoph
27-03-2005, 23:58
Your Majesty,
With all due respect, being loyal to the invitation you extended to one woman is no reason to be disloyal to the terms of your own invitation. That is nothing but defining loyalty as disloyalty and honor as deceit. You invited any noblewomen who wished to to come and meet you. You have allowed one to do so. There is no disloyalty to her in allowing another as well. In fact, there is only loyalty to your original offer. You have not choosen a wife yet. You are choosing who to meet to select your wife. I do not see how you can make that choice without arranging to meet with all respondents. If the Duchess is a woman of honor, she will see the truth in this as well. I appreciate your acting as though you recognize our nation now. However, to establish a friendship, you must also deal in good faith and honor your word as a king. I do not care who you choose to marry. I do care that you choose after honoring your word. Should such a choice be made at a ball with all the respondents present and should it not be me, then and only then, would I consider marriage to any other Jenraki man. Friends honor their word to friends.

Sincerely,
Constantia the Faithful
Princess of Sanhame

"What is this?" Saerus asked, as he intercepted more of Arborgard's papers.

"Yes."
