Official Statement by Major-General Warner, Head of Joint Chiefs of Staff:

"At 08:30 hours this morning, the Republic of Skinny87 successfully deployed and detonated its first Nuclear Weapon. The weapon, detonated in a large deserted area in Northern Skinny87, is the first of several Nuclear Devices that the Republic has built."

"We would like to assure the International Community that these weapons will never be used in any circumstances except the defence of our national borders and land. As per Presidential Order #450, all Nuclear Weapons will be stored in an un-named but highly secure weapons containment facility under extremely heavy guard. Once again, we reassure the community that these weapons will never be used outside of this nations borders, and only in the most dire of consequences, such as an invasion of this country."

Details:

The Class I Nuclear Weapons are small devices created over several years by the Republican Military for use in the Battlefield against invaders. As such, the payload of each device is relatively small, especially when compared to the Nuclear Capabilities of many other Nuclear Equipped Nations. The power of each device is the equivalent to 5 Kilotonnes.

In order for these devices to reach their maximum capabilities, there will be two different ways of utilising the devices. The first will be converting a device into a Nuclear Warhead, attaching it to a small ICBM and launching within our borders at a target. The second procedure would be to drop the device from a Fighter-Bomber over the intended area and detonate it in an air-burst pattern, covering a small area.

Thus these devices are Tactical-based Nuclear Weapons and not Strategic-based, and will never be used within another nations borders.
