In a growing crime wave of terrorism, sabotage, and murder, communist geurillas from nearby nations bombed warehouses in the industrial sector. One of those warehouses was used to store fireworks for the upcoming celebrating of Archon-Designate Aleksandr Schaeffer's twenty-first birthday. All of the warehouses were occupied by workers.
Reports so far indicate that the geurillas died in the blast, driving a tanker truck packed with explosives and gasoline through a security fence in order to achieve their goal of destruction. Official accounts put the number of dead at seventy-three, with more than four hundred wounded. Special Rescue indicates that at least thirty-five warehouse employees remain missing, with little hope of being found alive. The fires caused by the explosion were contained as of late this afternoon, but fire fighters were unable to extinguish the blaze, opting to let it burn out on its own.
Police Commissioner Franz Schmidt of the Sarna Industrial District Police Headquarters stated, "We believe this is another senseless act of violence by the communists bordering our fine nation who resent all that we have accomplished in our short time as a free nation. Until we can rid this land of their filthy presence, we cannot underestimate the harm they will try to inflict on our people."
When asked if the State Department of Defense would be passing out arms and munitions to civilians to aid in stopping terrorist attacks as had been done during the brief wave of terrorism committed by muslim extremists, Commissioner Schmidt said he felt it inapproriate to the situation and that "most civilians own guns already, so we hardly need to spend more of the budget arming them again."
