OOC: comments welcome.

The Shusaka Class Battleship was originally planned for Admiral Okura Ryusaki, however, once he had been elected emperor, the design was scrapped.
Now that Admiral Suzuki, Ryusaki's successor, is now the Grand Admiral of the IJN, the Shusaka concept was brought back to life, and with some
modifications, presented to Admiral Suzuki as the flagship of the IJN.

Statistics:
Length: 653m (2142 ft)
Width: 202m (662 ft)
Draft: 17m (52 feet) empty, 20m (65 ft) full
Displacement: 630,000 tons empty
980,000 tons full
Powerplant: 4 Pebble Bed Nuclear Reactors
9 x 638mm ETC gun
18 x 127mm ETC gun
52 x 25mm AA gun
8 x Quad ASM-3
32 x CIWS mounts
4 x 90 Cell VLS
2 x Type-68 torpedo tubes
12 x STOVL Aircraft

Cost: $70 Billion
Build Time: 16 years

(note: mass produced version, as seen above, is monohull, unlike the ship
commanded by Suzuki, which is a trimaran. In addition, the flagship will have an additional 3 638mm guns and will carry 35 aircraft.)

Notice: Export Version has been cleared for production!

Some differences between Export and Shusaka to know:

Export will have a regular nuclear reactor, not pebble bed.
Export will be monohull.
Export will have AEGIS.
Export will have Goalkeeper CIWS, rather than MKXIIIJ.
Export will have nine 584mm guns rather than nine 638mm.

New Cost: $55 Billion
Build Time: 10 Years

All who wish to purchase must agree to the following declaration:

I, (name), representing (nation), agree never to engage in or allow reverse engineering, unauthorized use or resale of this vessel. I also acknowledge, that this vessel will never be used against Japanese Antarctica, otherwise, I give full authorization for Japanese Antarctica to reduce my country to nuclear rubble.

Does this ship have missile based AA capacity? Having only flak guns leaves it very vulnerabale to air attask unless it is escorted by a dedicated AA ship.

Great observation. Forgot to mention the AA missiles, thanks for pointing it out.

OOC:Actualy, the SM-2 is capable of being launched from VLS cells, so you might want to replace those with more VLS.

Been taken care of, but thanks for the reminder.

SECRET IC:

We would like to inquire about any potential production rights for this ship. Barring that, we would like to buy 4 for the Virginian Combine Navy for USD$280,000,000.

(OOC: Awesome, JA! When I get my sovereignty back, if I'm allowed to purchase weapons/vehicles/et. al., I'll definitely buy some of these! The only thing about it that I'd change is the price; IMO, it's just a tad too high.)

Re: Purchase Inquiry

We regret to inform you that at this time, production rights cannot be sold due to the top secret nature of certain technologies used on this ship. However, Shizuoka Shipyards is working on an export version that can be produced much more cheaply and quickly. Once the design for the export edition is completed, you will be notified.

OOC: just check the thread this week, i'll have the stats for the export version sometime, but right now I have to do physics work. goes for Wirraway too. (i just remembered, technically, we're not IC enemies yet, because that other RP was aborted, so I can sell you the ship.)

RB, yeah, it's expensive, but keep in mind that this ship is enormous.

other than serving as flagship, it is doubtful there is much use for such a big ship... considering ordering a pair of them, but given that our trade surplus is only 3 billion, it would take 33 years to pay for them.

so we would have to pass...
