Indomitable class CGN

Oologah
28-02-2005, 05:50
The Democratic Dictatorship of Oologah is preparing to launch a new line of heavy missile cruisers. The Indomitable class CGN will be 800ft long, have a crew of 450 enlisted sailors and 27 officers while in service in the Oologah navy, and will have a top speed of 37kts. Primary cannons will consist of 4x 8-inch cannons, mounted in twin turrets on the bow and stern of the ship. There will also be a state-of-the-art CIWS consisting of 14x 30mm gattling guns. The missile systems will consist of 40x SSM-14 Astro surface-to-surface missiles, with 30 being mounted in 2 vertical launchers (one fore and aft), and the other 10 being mounted in twin quintuple swiveling launchers (again, one for and one aft). These missiles have a range of 45 miles, have a speed of Mach 2, and have a 1kT nuclear warhead. For air defense, there will be 150 SAM-6 Crucifix surface to air missiles mounted in a vertical launch system in it’s own dedicated housing in the middle of the ship. These missiles have a range of 80 miles against non-maneuvering targets headed towards the ship, a ceiling of 85,000 feet, and have a speed of Mach 4. The ships will also incorporate a 3rd generation stealth suite, consisting of advanced radar absorbent materials, an advanced active sonar jamming unit, stealth shaping, and retractable gun and missile mounts. The radar will consist of a SSCH-2 unit, which has a range of 150 miles for surface searching, a ASCH-5 unit, which has a range of 250 miles for air searching, and has advanced discriminators to minimize the effects of jamming (these have shown a 53% drop in the effects of enemy ECM in trials). For tracking, it will have an ADVSBTRK-1 tracking suite, which can track and engage 20 different targets. The radar mounts can also be retracted. Depending upon what type of preventative maintenance is done by the yard crew, the weapons and radar systems can be retracted/engaged within 5 minutes. The cost will be 750,000,000,000GC per unit, and the Oologah Navy has 3 ordered. They will be the Indomitable (CGN-19), Pillar of Salt (CGN-20), and Envy and Malice (CGN-21). Steele shipyards will be happy to take any foreign orders.
