Government Status in AST Kazuma, and a Potential Civil War

AST Kazuma
27-02-2005, 22:10
AST Kazuma is currently governed by a system of three houses: the Royal House, consisting of the royal family Diamont; the Common House, consisting of a 29-member popularly elected parliament, led by a Prime Minister; and the Just House, a council of eight judges led by a Grand Judge.
The Royal House, led by current monarch King Calvin II, is in charge of military, domestic policy, and foreign policy. The Common House, led by Prime Minister Henrietta Raaby of the Militant Party, is in charge of civil policies, budgets, and complaints of the people. The Just House is in charge of laws, and settling disputes.
There are four active political parties: the Militant Party, currently the majority in Parliament, led by noblewoman Henrietta Raaby, and promoting militant views, expansion of the army, and the deposition of the king, etc.; the Union Party, promoting a capitalist republic style of government, led by prominent entrepreneur Jacob Long III; the Royal Party, which supports the power of the king, and whatever views the king currently holds, led by adviser Darvin Wallach; and the People's Control Party, advocating a constitutional monarchy in which the king is a figurehead, led by James Arwork.
The King is popular with his people right now.
Henrietta Raaby was revealed by Jacob Long III to have rigged the last election for Prime Minister in her favor. She denounced him and denied the allegations. She then ordered an assasination attempt upon him, which failed.
She is currently rumored to be massing a troop force called the Alpha Army on Red Dirt Island in order to attempt a coup or revolution and install a one-party government. Her army is said to number around 50,000 from reconaissance reports.
The King has ordered an elite force to attempt raids on the Alpha Army base to slow down their preparations and buy time for the King's Army to prepare the defense of the capitol.
More details will be given as the events occur.
