The Macabees

This here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=399606&page=1&pp=15) is the main thread - this isn't designed as an OOC thread, but can be used as one although it probably wont - this is just an index which you should tag or bookmark and visit every once in a while..I'll update it accordingly and bump it after each updated.
FYI: The Island of Rose has offered to host peace talks over the situation at Melgaria.
Official and OOC Casualty List
Most of the casualty counts are hazy at best and don't give me an definate amount of casualties, so I'm going to have to go with Ayaddha's news report for most of the casualties counts. An early pardon for anybody who has a problem with this.

Latest ANN News:
<theme music fades>
"At the top of the hour..." began the anchor, "the battle for Malgeria has reached a new and deadlier phase. This report from the capitol city of Malger by ANN's Fatima Ajouff..."
On the screen the image of Fatima Ajouff appeared. There was no opportunity to shoot separate clips, one for Muslim sensibilities and one for Westerners, or, in other words, with and without the veil, so Fatima arranged to have her veil hang loose like a cowl, fluttering in the strong wind that was sweeping the capitol. As conservative as the Ayadi were, they were also practical; wardrobe malfunction in a stiff wind was simply not that big a deal.
"The battle is breaking up into separate fights between the various participants, and events are changing almost by the hour. Offshore to the northwest of here," she yelled, glancing in that direction. Over the wind and the roar of machines, there was an ambient noise that had been missing yesterday. Fatima knew what is was. Distant explosions. "The fleet action has split into two battles, close enough together to affect each other's outcome. One is between the Parthians on the one hand, and the forces of Abu Arabia and Al-Kabah on the other; at this hour it remains unclear who will prevail.
"Nearby, a larger battle is shaping up between the Macabees and MassPwnage; even though that battle is farther off, the sound of exploding missiles can be heard like thunder over the horizon, from hundreds of kilometers away. We're hearing from the air traffic controllers that thousands of missiles are being fired every minute, quantities of ordnance whose cost per side is exceeds the GDP of many small countries."
She paused momentarily to let the enormity of that fact sink in to her viewers, and then continued.
"As we indicated earlier, Tocrowkian troops are arriving at a staggering rate; the flow of men and material has literally consumed the entire transportation capacity - air and land - here in the capitol. Getting anywhere among the flood of vehicles is almost impossible.
"They're streaming northeast to meet an impending Maldaathi landing. There are reports - unconfirmed - that the Maldaathi are already ashore near Al-Azir, but government officials are vehemently denying this. What is certain is that they will be met almost immediately by MLF militia, who will try to hold them back long enough for Tocrowkian reinforcements to arrive. Once that happens, it will be a race to see who can throw more men and machines onto those beaches, as the Maldaathi attempt to push inland and the Tocrowkians and Malgerians attempt to throw them back into the sea.
"Finally, should the sea battle near here be resolved, elite forces from Al-Sabah stand ready to meet the Parthians and their allies on the shore in defense of a number of key islands north of here.
"And more nations seem to be gettinng involved with each passing hour."
The camera cut back to the anchor, "Thank you, Fatima. In the next half hour we'll try to get a graphic together showing these developments."
"There is an attempt in the midst of all this fighting to negotiate a cease-fire and possibly a settlement..."
~~~~~~~~~~
Off camera, Fatima and her crew retreated to the relative safety of the parking garage. There would be more to report, soon. There were casualties among the MLF - her government contact had informed her as much - but as of yet the worst cases had not yet managed to be evacuated to the capitol for advanced care. When they arrived, she'd have to be there to get pictures. People needed to know what war was like, without any sugar coating.
Between now and then she'd try to get some sleep. But sleep would be difficult and not, Fatima was ashamed to admit, just because the people of Malgeria were suffering. Her gnawing fear was much more personal.
Where in the Great Name of the Divine was Justin?!?
