Praetonian troops march into Britain

<Drumbeat>

First up, Praetonian troops marched ceremonially into Great Britain yesterday evening as the government in Westminster formally submitted to Praetonian rule. Lucius Memor, MP for Praextremis South West comments,

"The British are a proud people, and this deal allows them to maintain partial sovereignty protect by the Imperial Praetonian Navy in exchange for allowing Praetonia to station troops and collect taxes to be limited to a certain degree by the Westminster devolved government. This is an excellent deal for both Britain and Praetonia."

Resistance to Praetonian rule has been found in former British colonies such as Gibraltar and The Falklands, the military garrisons of which have so far refused to surrender. Rumours are abound in Praeton about possible Praetonian military deployments to secure these vital strategic areas, and, as one MP put it:

"A vital and historic part of British culture and history. With Gibraltar and The Falklands Britain cannot be whole."

The Imperator himself is to travel to the UK tomorrow night to formally sign the Treaty of London[i] alongside Her Majesty the Queen. Security is going to be ultra high, but an ostentation military presence will be avoided, according to one Defence Spokesman,

"We won't make the Praetonian military presence obvious if possible. We don't want to put the British people on edge, nor do we want it to appear as though the Praetonian army will be enforcing Praetonian will upon the semi-autonomous Britain."
The Macabees

Macabee sattelites were already twirling around Europe, orbiting in their new positions, taking a good look at Gibraltar defenses. It was obvious that Praetonia found the Gibraltar as one of its hot targets and it would be the Macabee's task to hit the Gibraltar before Praetonia would be able to react - the unification of "Greater Spain" was at hand, and with the Gibraltar in Macabee hands the Macabees would lunge into Morocco and the Western Sahara. Consequently, while the sattelites were gathering the information needed the 50th Infanterie Divisionen, twenty thousand men, along with the 13th Panzer Divisionen, and the 11th Independent SAM Brigade, the 11th Independent Panzerwerfer Brigade and the 20th Independent KriGud brigade, were already moving south from Madrid, ready to take up positions on the souther outskirts of La Linea which looked right over 'the rock'.

The small, yet potent, martial force was thought to be enough to overrun the British defenses which were most likely out dated in relation to Macabee technology and comparively small. Moreover, the Macabee forces would be ready by train within the next [RP] day, or at the longest the next two [RP] days. So, with little time left the generals began to create and forge their strategy for a campaign which had never succeeded before and had daunted even the best military commanders, including Napoleon.

PWS United Kingdom, Mediterranean Sea

High above the landscape of Europe, pockmarked through the ages by battle, from Agincourt to Waterloo. These particular satellites were peaking down into the realms of Macabeean Spain, and in particular, looking for naval and other military buildups near the Straight of Gibraltar. They were well aware that Spain would likely want to take this opportunity of British weakness to try to seize the Praetonian sovereign territory of the Gibraltar.

The Cruiser United Kingdom was cutting sleakly through the waves of the Mediterranean, heading at maximum speed towards the Rock, and the British naval base beyond. Hopefully they would get there first. Still, could they even really do anything with just a hundred or so marines. Perhaps. Perhaps.

OOC: The UK is a Lion Class Cruiser - http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=400550 It should probably arrive in about 1 NS day too :)
