The Factions
Back in the time before the Empire, Veskaland was split into several factions.
In reality each faction was a separate race each living on the same planet.

The Federation was one of the most powerful factions, they controlled almost half the planet of Veska, they were mainly humans but members of other factions joined as well.

The Reskans (pronounced res-Kans) were a secretive race, they left everyone else alone so everyone else left them alone, during the period of isolation they developed technologies that allowed tem to go into other factions territories without being noticed, so suddenly there was supplies going missing from the Federation, then the Drakska, then the Kalzon, the Reskans left the other factions alone for fear of starting a major war.

The Drakska (pronounced: DRUK-scar) were at first a weak race, but they researched the ways of cloning an army and finally they had a nearly invulnerable army of soldiers called the Guardians. To ensure the Guardians loyalty the Drakska created them with a weakness, they required Trillium D in order to function.

The Kalzon were a warrior race, they believed in honor above all else, they prided themselves on their traditions and rituals including the famous death chant. The main product produced by the Kalzon was a primitive brand of weaponry, from the axe to the spear to the bladed weapons.

The Cyborg were a race of people, half-machine half-human. During the period known as the Rampage period the Cyborgs invaded other factions and took people away to be assimilated into their race. In response to this invasion the Reskans and the Kalzon formed a tenuous alliance, involving non aggression pacts, free trade agreements et cetera.

Wading in the sea of space.
The Federation was invaded a total of 23 times in the 4 year period, at the end of which they looked for possible routes to escape the terrifying onslaught. One bright-eyed young man did several experiments involving faster than light travel. One attempt was successful, he used a refitted nuclear missile to act as his test vehicle.
His engines involved a mix of mater and anti-matter. When these two substances came together they canceled each other out creating a reaction causing a tear in space to form and for the missile to enter “subspace”. Subspace is an are of the Space-Time Continuum in which light moves at a different pace than in normal space and therefore ships/missiles etc. can travel at speeds faster then light without requiring infinite power therefore physical laws are still maintained.

Moving Day
10 years after Wren’s experiments the Federation had created a blast facility which would be used to launch ships into outer space. They were aimed into orbit of a nearby planet and were fired at massive speeds, when they escaped the atmosphere their engines activated and the ships went at speeds faster than light. Once all the ships had arrived at the new planet they immediately landed and created a secure colony. The Federation had finally moved away from the Cyborg threat.

The alliance between the Kalzon and the Resikans had ended due to the very nature of the peoples involved, the Kalzon believed that being sneaky like the Resikans was very dishonorable. The Kalzonian operatives within the science department of the Federation stole a prototype engine, this engine would no longer need the Blast facility, the way it worked was thus. The standard engines of the craft would push it up into the atmosphere, the stolen Impulse engines would then launch the craft into space and then the hyper-engine would create the tear and then the Kalzonians could follow the Federations example and colonize another planet. Which they did. They named the planet “Klishinzai” after the precious ore that was in abundance on the planet.

Starving
At this point the Kalzonians thought that they should expand and conquer the surrounding planets. But one of them was already inhabited by the technologically advanced race called the Golgotha, when the Kalzon invaded them, revenge was swift and devastating. The Kalzonians asked their old buddies the Resikans for help, the Resikans were at war with the Drakska at the time and could spare no recources to help the Kalzon. It turned out that during the period of Isolation the Resikans and the Drakska had both developed FTL engines and so the Drakska-Resikan war had the potential to become of interstellar proportions, luckily it was more of a cold war involving more espionage than actual fighting. The Kalzonians still required resources and so they turned to the Federation. The Federation rejected the calls for help as it interfered with their so called “Prime Directive” which stated that they could not interfere with any other race unless it affected the Federation directly.
The Kalzon had nowhere to turn to except the only race that wasn’t involved politically with anyone, well the Cyborg weren’t really involved in anything at all anymore, it was like that didn’t exist anymore. The Cyborg had no interest in helping anyone at all, but they had managed to locate the Kalzon and so they sent their FTL capable ships to attack and assimilate the Kalzonian civilization.

WAR!
As you know the Kalzon were a warrior race, they couldn’t stand the idea of being attacked twice in one decade. So they commenced construction of their first shipyards, the Kalzon Shipyards were mainly used for constructing warships, the first of these warships was the “Bird of Prey” class scout. This small ship approximately 3.5 meters from head module to tail engines, and it has a wingspan of 5 meters. On the end of each wing there is a disruptor cannon and a torpedo tube on the base of the head module. Seven of these ships were constructed by the time the first Cyborg ship had arrived. The Cyborg were not prepared for the Birds of Prey and although they lost two of their ships the Kalzon were victorious. The victory was an inspiration to all the Kalzonians, they increased their production and when the next Cyborg ship came the defense consisted of over 20 ships, with 1 lost ship the Kalzon researchers looked for more powerful weapons and constructed more powerful ships including the “Vor’Cha” class.

Withdrawal
The Cyborg had grown wary of the Kalzon defense forces ability to adapt to any tactical situation. The Cyborg found that threatening, they believed that without new and better weapons and defenses they would cease to exist. So they used their ships to move all the drones to the other side of the galaxy, this move took 46 years, 3 months, 5 days.

Expansion
When the Cyborg had finished their travel they set up a base. Unlike the other factions they did not set up their base on a planet, they made several interconnecting space stations called the Cortex. The Cyborgs decided that their small territorial holdings were too small and that they had to expand, but they encountered many races both hostile and passive on their trip, those races must join them or be annihilated.
