E&E Aerospace unveils new luxury airliner

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Europe and Eurasia Aerospace in conjunction with the imperial civil aviation design beureu is proud to present the EEFB-200 Flying Boat, the largest and most luxurious
airliner ever to be contructed.

The EEFB-200 was the brainchild of famed designer Norman bel Geddes who drew up the first drafts of the design in the late 1930s, these designs were recently rediscovered in the Imperial hall of records and work soon began to update and refine the initial plans. With heavy input from the Emperor himself the plan retains its original design almost in its entirety, with the exeption of replacing the piston engines in the plans with state of the art jet turbines and adding modern conveniences to the planes interior. The EEFB-200 is designed to
be a veritable flying cruise ship, this mammoth plane is capable of carrying 606 passengers in their own private staterooms and first class suites, as well as leaving room for a large dining room/dance floor, two private dining rooms for high paying customers who want a more intimate dining experience or are holding a small function onboard, a fully stocked bar, a promenade deck running the entire length of the planes leading edge with large windows to give the passengers a panoramic view of the landscape beneath them, seperate male and female solariums with on staff masseurs and masseuses and an onboard cinema with a 25 meter screen just to name a few, all of which are staffed by our crew of 120 people, giving this remarkable aircraft facilities and service never before seen in the air.

The EEFB-200 is powered by 20 Imperial heavy machinery jet turbines located
in a seperate upper wing to keep the noise away from the passengers, these
power the plane at a brisk but leisurely pace of 550 kph, the speed may not match that of the 747 or other airliners in the air today but it does provide a
good speed to get to the destination on time while letting the passengers take in the views on the promenade deck.

This is a triumph of imperial engineering, Europe and Eurasian airlines is already planning to scrap its current flying boat fleet and replace it entirely with this fine aircraft. The first EEFB-200 to be completed, the Emperors official transport, Imperial 1, is scheduled to take off on its maiden voyage to the Carribean in a few days, friendly governments are invited to join us on this historic journey and be our guests on the flight. Be advised also that the plane is for sale at a price of 505,000,000 US Dollars apeice.

We welcome your replies,

OOC: I do not like to debate the validity of such a transport, because I believe anything is possible with the right amount of funds, research, and willpower. One thing I am certain of, though, is that it is underpriced. Way, way, way underpriced.

I think you should push the price up to the ~$500 million range, considering how big it is, the amount of "luxury" involved (staterooms/suites), and the many services available onboard.

True, true, I was basing the price on the price of the original 1930s design (DAMN YOU, INFLATION!!)

This is actually very feasible, and a better approach to my dead "Green Ship" propossal of an inter-continental ship like the Freedom Ship that could actually fly.

Nice idea, very nice, and it would cost about (from my readings) 620mil, about, in my opinion. Remember: Services payment, maintance, cleaning-crews, engine operators (with those engines, you will need in-lfight watchers and controllers next to the pilot and co-pilots). Ohh, and pilots. You may also want to have armed agents onboard, which could cost, since one of these will prove a big target for terrorists and such who like things that run into stuff and makes a big BOOM.

Nice stuff, I might be thwarted to purchase one agenst my self-dependacy belife as an other price ship nex to the Emu (Concorde replacement).

Rating (I always include this in aircraft designs): 9.5/10

Thank you for the kind words, if I recall you commented on my nuclear fighter too, correct? Anyway, I think that the current price that I have for it now is satisfactory, the quoted price is only the initial cost, like all good salesmen the long term "running costs" like the wages of the crew and maintainence costs are not mentioned.

OOC: Just thinking about landing, you would need huge reverse thrusters to stop it from flipping over forwards. But take off - the highest point of thrust is at the top, and the highest point of resistance/friction, is at the bottom, so how is this thing going to take off without flipping over forwards?

But it's a really nice idea, maybe altered placement of the engines could alleviate this problem.

I knew this question would come up sooner or later, yes it does look a bit silly to put the engines so high up and put so much weight below it, but you must remember that this system of engine placement is tried and true on flying boats (the Dornier DO-X is a good example) and the large, thick wing of the plane will provide much lift with only the slightest provocation so that it only has to move a little distance to create enough lift to releive the weight of the plane from the water enough so that the engines dont tip the plane over (although we did have to move the engine wing back a few meters to make it work) As for the landing,
yes it does look a bit tricky but the engines in the plane were specialy designed
to create reverse thrust if needed, so they could all be reverse thrusters if need be (hopefully never)

Fascinating. The Regime of Adejaani is currently considering purchasing one... And possibly a second. Though we wonder if the "luxury" aspects can be toned down to a no frills high (person) capacity airliner.

The Empire of Europe and Eurasia is pleased that you are considering buying our wonderful aircraft, however, the Emperor has given stict orders to never build models that are just "flying cattle carriers" as he calls them. The EEFB-200 was specificly designed to be a luxurious experience unparalleled in the air, a "getting there is half the fun" sort of vehicle. The Emperor is afraid that if we start making no frills high-capacity models then money hungry airline companies will only buy them, so the EEFB-200 will never be well known for its comfort and service.

Yes, I belive I did (mentioned alternatives to nuclear-powered bombers and large transports, if I remember right). I hope I was not rude, I sometimes get like that if I am in a kikarz mood.

IC:

The Truitt and Hughes Corporation wishes to purchase a single EEFB-200 for their trans-atlantic flights from South America to Africa and Europe.

This is a terrific add-on to the Emu Fleet, which is a fleet of extra-large luxery airliners.
