This is for an idea of mine to create a StarCraft Role-playing thread. Different nations could be different groups from StarCraft, and we could go totally away from StarCraft and end with, say, Arcturus Mengsk being executed by the Confederates, or something along those lines.
These are the factions I was thinking of

The UED Expeditionary Fleet (Terrans, UED):

The Earth Defense Initiative (Terrans, UED):

The United Earth Directorate (Terrans, UED Leader):

The Overmind (Zerg, Zerg Leader):

Jormungand Brood (Zerg, Zerg):

Grendel Brood (Zerg, Zerg):

Garm Brood (Zerg, Zerg):

The Fleet of the Executor (Protoss, Protoss Empire):

The Defenders of Aiur (Protoss, Protoss Empire):

The Judicator Caste (Protoss, Protoss Empire Leader):

The Dark Templar (Protoss, Dark Templar Leader):

Note: I realize that there are quite a lot of Confederate factions. This is intended to show its disunity.

Note2: I know that StarCraft never mentioned the Earth Defense Initiative. I just created it as the UED defensive fleet.

If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to comment with constructive criticism.

I simply love StarCraft. I'll have to be doing some reading on the factions, though. Wasn't Arcturus Mengsk killed in the "Omega" mission in the expansion "Brood War"?

No, Mengsk survived the battle and returned to Korhal.
But even then, if he had died, it would have been the Zerg killing him in battle, not a Confederate execution. Also, this is starting from the beginning of the first game, when the Sons of Korhal were just a small terrorist group and Chau Sara was still around.
Each 'squadron' in Confederacy acted independently from the others.
Also, I was thinking that Terran and Protoss factions could swing loyalty to other groups, or even form their own group.

And, Kyanges, what do you mean by 'sounds familiar'? The EDI, the concept, or something else.
And before you worry, Kyanges, Communist Spain is still going to kick your Korean ****** in CnC Earth.

Another thing I was thinking of is that we could shrink or increase the number of factions as many players as there are. I'm just throwing this idea out on the table.

There was a Starcraft RP awhile back, but it died. I'd love to do one again. This one looks more organized, I think it could do well.

Yay! This is really going well. I am going to unofficially end this poll one week sooner, on March 1, so we can begin signups. Technically, the poll will still be opened, but no votes will count then.

Possibly, fewer factions. We don't want too many people joining, as it'll become slow and wicked crazy to keep track of.

Yeah, I'd like to sign up. But hey, could I lead Kerrigan and her forces? It'd be fun to recreate the Zerg power struggle.

Yeah, we could do a lead into a Kerrigan takeover. Just remember that she starts out with the SoK. You could be a Zerg brood, and absorb Kerrigan. Then we could RP the Overmind's death and Kerrigan takes over. But whoever plays the 'Overmind' would have to agree to go from Zerg leader to a Zerg underling (no pun intended).

Just a note: I'm missing the "zerg-protoss hybrid" faction of Samir Duran, as alluded to in the secret Broodwar bonus mission ;)

uhh. . .this takes place in the beginning of StarCraft Vanilla. Samir Duran isn't even around yet, RP-wise.

Well.. it is implied Samir Duran is at the very least several centuries old, and repesents a force (probably Xel'Naga) operating behind the scenes - carefully influencing developments.
He himself also claimed to be around before Mengsk seized power as a member of the Terran Confederacy. But admittedly roleplaying such a character would soon result in Godmoding. And since I'm not playing I'll shut up now ;)
