the two weeks since they had emerged from the surreal void of thirdsea into this alien system had been interesting, they had been lucky to find that double planet at the edge of the system so conveinently located. most the rest had been spent in heavy decelleration to enter orbit of the ringed planet. it was truely a marvel of nature, a few hours of observation had located a plethora of natural satilites in addtion to the rings, now, it seemed they would meet the natives, these beings known as gaians,

Gaian High Command had ordered the area around Planet Emerald cleared, as the Nadesico-Yamato came in alone, an approach towards the darkside of the planet. All other vessels of the Fleet and even the starbases and space stations had been vectored away to keep the arrival area clear of anyone that would startle the guests.

The High-Mobile Battleship drew under the large M-Class world, the Ascendant 'created' world, about the size of Sol's Saturn, but gravity well, rotation and all wise, no different than a normal Terran type world, other than the size that 'normaly' prohibit such a world existing.

This System was far from normal. As were events of late. The wide, green and white rings of Emerald, strewn a shadow over the Nadesico-Yamato.

The vessel was passing into the dusk side of Emerald, when Ruri caught the first sensor trace of the alien craft.

":: ~ Approach vector confirmed. Level two stations please. All crew prepare for arrivals. ~ ::"

A few moments later Lady Funaho and Lord Akito came up to the bridge deck. "You found them?" Akito asks. Ruri replies. ":: ~ One vessel about 500,000 standard kilometers from us, already near Emerald Prime.

..the signature is what we expected from inital reports. ~ ::"

Funaho nods. Hold position and send out a welcome beacon for them to follow to us." Ruri turns back. ":: ~ Yes milady. Hori.. ~ ::"

":: ~ You got it. ~ ::" The vessel's XO responds and sets the vessel's transponder to a broadband tracking frequency. This would allow the guests to find them easily.

Meanwhile the Mobile Battleship held position near Emerald, awaiting.

"it seems they want us to go to them."
"alright, compute fuel avalible."
"based on what we have seen thus far, I wouldn't reccomend getting much further into the system."
"ok, and duration?"
"optimal departure angle in approximately fourteen hours."

{spectator one approaches the gaian ship}
"look at the size of that thing!"
"yes, quite interesting, try and open communications."

Comm replies out. "Sensor contact is trying to hail us."

Ruri.. ":: ~ Open all channels, and engage the translators incase they have a different dialect. Which wouldn't be suprising... ~ ::" Ruri then turns back to Lady Funaho. ":: ~ Do you wish to open the exchange milady? ~ ::"

Funaho looks back at Akito, then replies to Ruri.. "Standard hail and greeting. After they have opened the exchange, we'll take over if they wish to meet in person."

Ruri nods. ":: ~ Acknowledged.. ~ ::"

I am Nicodemus frisby, Commanding officer of Gelfland research vessel spectator 1, quite the planet you have there, if you don't mind my saying so.
it seemed that the Ascendancy was at least willing to talk, this was a good sign, hopefully, he would not do anything too insulting, Nicodemus and the crew had trained as best they could, but it would be a surprise if there wasn't some aspect of gaian culture completely unlike anything they had prepared for.. they would just have to wait and see.
