It was a great day in Astropolis, capital of the Tri-System. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing lightly, and there was not a cloud in sight. People could be seen sunbathing on lawn chairs and swimming in swimming pools, and the skies were unusually devoid of most traffic, being a Saturday. Victor Anthony was dozing in a chair in his yard, grateful that Saturday was a day off for government employees.

Victor worked in the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), watching foreign nations make their wars and speeches and spacecraft, deciding which one was threatening, and which one was not. He even briefed the Emperor every week, being Director at the ISB and all. But for all his job's perks, it was very stressful and time consuming, and so he enjoyed every minute off of work.

But being Director of the Imperial Security Agency meant that even on off days you still had to work if needed, and a telephone thrusted Victor from sleep. Annoyed, he was tempted to simply turn off the phone until he saw who was calling. He flipped on the hologram projector, thinking that it had better be important."Victor here." he said, trying desperatly to appear fully awake.

"Victor, we need you here at the ISB." the man on the other line said, noting the sleepiness in Victor's voice, "Right now. We've recieved word of an attack on station Tango-Beta-5. We are at full alert now, not looking too good."
"Jesus! I'll be over in a few minutes."

Victor turned off the projector and went inside to dress for work. After a few minutes he pushed a button on his watch, and he was. . .not at work? He was suddenly confused, the place his personal transporter had taken him not being ISB headquarters. Where the hell am I? "Greetings, Mr. Anthony," it was the man on the phone.

"How the-"

"It was simple, really. We just sent out an FTL transmission on an emergency channel, forcing your transporter to take you here. Where is here? 'Here' is station Alpha-Charlie-2. You are placed under citizen's arrest for abusing power, supporting a corrupt regime, and opressing the people."

"But-"
"But nothing. You know it is true. We know you have killed many children, raped many little girls, and so many other injustices. And you are not the only one we have taken."
"I haven't done anything of the sort! Release me!"
"Oh, we'll release you all right. Gaurds! Take him to his cell."

Two large men dragged Victor to a slimy, filthy room. They threw him onto the moist steel floor and activated the containment field. They then activated the torture field, and Victor was endlessly assaulted by pain until he finally passed out. When he finally awoke, he realized that the man who shared his cell was the Emperor. In other cells, he could see other high-level officials.

Green Sun is curious on what's going on. Further investigations will be made.

The man on the phone now stood by Victor and the Emperor's cell, having had a gaurd tell him the two were awake. He entered a code on the keypad and he, flanked by two armed gaurds, stepped into the cell while another gaurd reactivated the field, should anything go wrong. A chair had been brought into the cell, and the man sat on it. He didn't want his uniform to get dirty from the grime on the floor.

He's got to be ISF, general by the uniform, Victor thought. The last encounter he had been too confused to make note of the uniform, and the torture would have made him forget in any case.

"Greetings, traitors. I am sure that you are now sufficiently confused as to what is going on. I am General David Jones, and I am going to unveil the corruption of you two traitorous dogs and your cohorts. As you can see--" he waved his arms to the other cells"--we are taking all of you traitors down at once. You two, you are special. We are going to try you in front of the people, and let your corruption be known. And after your peers--well, not peers, these men are honorable, unlike you--find you guilty, we will execute you in front of the galaxy.I hope you, you, shits understand that. That is all."

Before they could speak, he was gone, and they had passed out from yet more torture.

Meanwhile, General Jones met with the captains of all the ships based on his starbase, and briefed them on their next mission.

"My men, word has reached me that our Empire, our people, are under grave attack by traitorous forces within. The Third Fleet, based at Alpha-Charlie-Ten, has initiated a bombing campaign and kidnapped numerous government officials. Our orders, comming from what is left of the Imperial Council, are to defeat this menace. At 1600 hours, all ships are to be fully manned and are being placed under the command of Colonel Ivan. Colonel Ivan will initiate hostile activities against the traitors, and I have left the operational planning up to him. The only ships to remain are the Black Gaurd, should they launch a counterattack. Dismissed!"

The Admiral left, meeting in his quarters with Ron Ahola, Chairman of the Imperial Council, Acting Emperor. "The mission is go, Chairman. In a few hours the largest enemy fleet will be wiped out, and Astropolis will be ours for the taking. We have won, Chairman."

A few hours after leaving the starbase, Colonel Ivan's forces disengaged their faster-than-light drives and engaged their cloaking devices, splitting into three groups to attack from three directions. It was easy hiding the ships, as there were only three carriers, with their fighters still docked. After prepping the fighters onboard in the safefy of stealth, the carriers decloacked and the struggle began. There was not turning back now, and the entire Empire--probably even the entire galaxy--would now know something was up.

The space battle raged over Astropolis as Colonel Ivan's forces engaged the enemy, and those gazing at the stars could see the fireworks from the explosions and the eerie glow of the starship engines. The Third Fleet was taken completely by suprise, and the battle drifted toward the usurpers.

Captain Durling darted up and down, navigating through the debris and slow capital ships until he approached the Brilliant Star,, the ISF command ship. His flight's orders came from Colonel Ivan himself, and it would teach this rebel commander a thing or two. Little did he know, he was destroying that which he sought to protect. But that didn't matter now.

Expertly dodging the fan of missiles and laser fire from the wedge-shaped battleship, Durling and his flight zoomed in close. "Echo Flight, engage. Repeat, Echo Flight, engage nuclear missiles." Each pilot flipped a switch in the cockpit, and a pair of nuclear missiles arced from the fighters at twice the speed of light. The missiles slammed into the ship at impossible speeds, and after the hull had been penetrated, the one-gigaton missiles went off, slicing the battleship in half in a brilliant flash of light. Air from the dying vessel buffeted the retreating fighters as they swooped down on another target.

Meanwhile, General Jones had intercepted the TFU communications and sent his reply. A similar message was sent to Green Sun.

I have reason to believe a rebel faction has targetted high-level government officials, and I require immediate assistance in securing Astropolis, the Empire's capital city. These rebels have infiltrated much of the fleet, and I need help to reform the government and restore order.

Semi-IC: Neo Black Sun is willing to aid the rebels in this cause if Green Sun is to aid the current goverment. Supplies are being readied to be shipped to them.

General Jones was nothing if impatient, and so he decided he would strike Astropolis immediatly. Inside his command center, he contacted Colonel Ivan. "Colonel, your victory over the rebel fleet is stunning. But now we must take Astropolis. Gather all of your forces, and prepare all People's Gaurd soldiers to drop into the city. I will link up with you via shuttle. Jones out."

On board the Oblivion, Colonel Ivan had begun plotting the invasion of Astropolis and defending it against possible "rebel" forces. Also with him was a list of missing officials, which he scanned over slowly. It then hit him that the day he attacked the Third Fleet was the day the Emperor and so many advisors went missing. He also realized that that day also saw the addition of several prisoners to his home station. The bastard is trying to take over the Empire! And he used me to do his dirty work. He's gonna pay. He turned to his Comm officer. "Comm, put out an alert that a shuttle pretending to be General Jones is traveling toward the fleet. Have it shot on sight. Also, warn the station to free the prisoners, as new evidence has shown they are innocent."

The shuttle approached the fleet and broadcasted codes to the fleet identifying it as General Jones's personal bird. With no warning at all, the fleet started firing at his shuttle, but chance would have it that the General saved himself. He broadcasted over Comm channels his voice, ending the fire just as soon as it started. "This is General Jones! Who the hell ordered the shooting?! I'll have his head for this!" Jones commenced landing on the Oblivion, where he met up with Colonel Ivan.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Private Ivan? You almost killed me! For that I am stripping you of command, and your rank. You will report to cell 2AD at 0600 hours for detention." That caused Ivan to snap, and it sent a ripple through the fleet. "Yes, sir! If you can get away with imprisoning the Emperor, then what will you do with me?" The revelation caused guns to aim inward at other ships, and individual crewmen looked at each other in anger and rage. It took only one spark to not only light the fire, but make it explode. "Arrest the General!" It wasn't known who shouted it, but that started the shooting.

The Colonel pulled out his short range blaster and shot the General dead, right as his crewmen took sides and started shooting one another. He took cover behind a console on the bridge, and started picking off the Jones supporters one by one. The hail of fire was quite beautiful to watch, if very deadly. Weapons ranging from heavy repeating energy cannons to light pistols added to the storm, and in an instant the Oblivion was secured by Ivan's men. Then ships started shooting at one another, and it became a chaotic fire fight to the death.

"What's the situation?"
"The city is crawling with rebels, sir, but a conventional orbital bombing would take too many civilian lives. We can't do as you suggested, sir, without risking war."
"Then don't do a conventional orbital bombing. Send in the fighters after we use recon drones to locate the rebels. Once we do that, we'll destroy the buildings in which they're hiding and drop down soldiers to reclaim the streets."
"It's still not a good idea."
"THEN SEND IN TEH SOLDIERS TO KICK SOME ASS!"
"That's a good idea, sir."

Colonel Ivan took the initiative in his command of the Oblivion. Contacting the ships in the fire-fight and deciding who supported who, he ammassed his followers and managed to take control of the situation. The Jones supporters, having no leader, were outgunned and out manuevered, and one by one the vessels were destroyed. But the firefight caused him to completly ignore the Green Sun vessels, providing an excellent window of oportunity for Green Sun to take Astropolis.

The Green Sun dropships hovered just a few feet off of the ground as it unloaded it troops. Armed with their Laser-Assault rifles and Plasma grenades, they set up a peremiter. They could hear fighting as the Stellar Empire troops met with the rebels.
"Move soldiers, move, move, move! I don't want to have to get a new ass after this is all over!"

Victor Anthony was astonished that he was free. He, the other advisors, and the Emperor had never expected to walk out of their cells. The Emperor, understandably, ordered the execution of numerous gaurds who mistreated him and his allies, and he assumed control of the now deceased General Jones's space station. His first order of business was to assume control of his Empire, but he did not recieve communications from Astropolis, only from the other two planets in his Empire. After learning that he should be able to contact Astropolis, he sent a recon fighter to investigate.

Captain Tolbin flew his fighter squadron over Astropolis, snapping photos and broadcasting them live to the Emperor. From his bubble canopy he could see flashes and explosions that could only mean fighting, and he watched as the Green Sun troops advanced into the city. The Imperial Gaurd troops stationed in the city were not combat troops; they were more like elite police officers, and ill equiped to face actual soldiers of any training. The Captain swooped down and strafed a unit of Green Sun troops with his light energy cannon before returning to orbit.

Colonel Ivan now had defeated the last remnants of the rebel fleet, save for the [i]Thunder, a medium size cruiser that had barely been able to avoided crashing into Astropolis.

The Thunder was down, but not out. Her Captain ordered her troops to join up with the Green Sun troops and aid them in capturing the city, claiming he was part of the legitimate government. A skeleton crew left on the Thunder repaired her air-defense cannons and placed them under the command of the Green Sun commander.

"Corpral! I've just been notified that the Star Empire ship Thunder has been put under your control!"
"WHY? I'm not an Captain in the Navy I'm a Corpral in the Army! Tell them to contact Admiral Jones."
As he said this the enemy fighter swooped down and fried the Corpral. The stunned private took a heavy hit but still could command.
"Do as he said! We've got to fight, not command! And tell Admiral Jones to send in reinforcements!"

The Thunder's captain heard the request--more like order, really--from the private to contact General Jones. In the hopes that Jones was still out there, the captain broadcasted a transmission to the now angry and unified Imperial Fleet. "General Jones, our allies here in Astropolis request immediate reinforcements. Repeat, request reinforcements! We must secure the city."

This message was recieved by Colonel Ivan and forwarded to the Emperor, who gave the expected order rapidly. "Colonel, or should I say General, request that the forces in Astropolis cease and desist in their efforts to take the city and lay down their arms. Should they refuse, kill or capture all enemy forces. Find out who these guys are."

General Ivan broadcasted his own message in all frequencies to the city, in the hopes that the Green Sun forces heard them.

"Attention all enemy forces in Astropolis, this is General Ivan of the Imperial Space Forces. Lay down your arms and cease hostile attacks against our capital city now or you will face dire consequences. Most of our fleet now sits in orbit above the city and have declared a blockade. Any attempt to flee will end before it starts. Any attempt at resistance is doomed to failure, as there are enough Imperial Marines in this fleet to take an entire planet. Lay down your arms and cease fire and you will be spared. After you lay down your arms you will be able to return to your home nation. That is all."

((There's been a bit of confusion. I'm helping the emperor.))
"They think we're attacking them? We're trying to help them but they're shootin' at us!"
"Well, then show that we're friendly! Disengage these guys and find a rebel-controlled building!"

[[There has been confusion. General Jones was the rebel commander, and he kidnapped the Emperor and co and plotted to become Emperor himself. He intercepted some messages, I think, and sent them off to you, claiming to be a legimate commander who needed help with rebels in Astropolis. Astropolis is firmly in non-rebel hands, and apparantly you took the bait hook, line, and sinker, even if you intended to help the legimate government. But let's run with it anyways.]]

General Jones noted the Green Sun troops disengaging with the Imperial Gaurd military police and sent his own, real, soldiers down to investigate. Though courageous fighters and elitely trained, the Imperial Gaurd was a police unit unsuited to combating normal units. As such, most of the dead the soldiers found were on the Imperial side, and those remaining officers were those who adapted to combat from the trail-and-error of their fallen comrades.

Lieutenant Zacharias Anacletus--"Ell-Tee Cletus"--was placed in charge of the Imperial Marines group sent to investigate and make contact with the enemy soldiers, so that the situation could be ascertained. He approached a group of soldiers with the magazine in his gun fully removed and in view. "I am Lieutenant Zacharias of the Imperial Space Force, Marine Division. I request permission to speak with your commanding officer on behalf of the Star Empire to understand the situation."

"Don't take another fucking step closer or this Laser Rifle will tear you to shreds. I don't care what the ehll you have to say. I'm not doing shit until I get Admiral Jones on the horn. He's going to get whoever is in charge of this damn country so we get briefed. We went in thinking we'd be shooting at Rebels, not Imperial Gaurds. Dammit, this job is for teh Forge Force, not the Army!"
