Brand-spankin'-new Robot (well, sort of) for Sale!

The Resi Corporation

From: The Resi Corporation
To: Address Book; ALL
Body:

In honor of the ancient Dozle war, we are re-releasing another version of the SOAT-bot that valiantly defended the nation of Dozle from brutal attacks from Vrak and Lunatic Retard Robots, among others. These SOAT-bots were such effective killing machines that after the war the nation of Vrak incorporated them into their own forces. The SOAT model has long sense been retired, but has been re-modernized and re-released as the SOAT mkII! These SOATs have the latest in Carbon-60 armor, making shell weapons nearly useless against them by protecting their inner workings with a layer of superdiamond buckyballs. For those willing to equip their armies with the best in combat robotics, you may click the following link and place orders as a reply to this e-mail.

Due to such an extensive order, we are afraid we cannot ship you your S.O.A.T.'s immeadiately. However, we'd be more than happy to ship the grand total of 2 million over two years, at just over 83,330 units a month. Of course, with this it's more than acceptable to pay for the units as they come to you, making for a monthly payment of $500,000,000,000 a month.

The first shipment has been sent, enjoy!

OOC: For clarification, there was no Nation of Dozle. Dozle was a rogue prince of Valinon, possessed by an ancient Takan artifical intelligence known as Adam. Adam--through Dozle's body--dreamed of of holding complete dominion over all of known space. As can be seen by the fact that few even bother to remember the Dozle, or Adamite as they are sometimes known, Wars his plans obviously did not come to the end he dreamed.

21-02-2005, 06:00
The Ascendancy wishes to purchase the following units of the S.O.A.T. Mrk. II SpecOps All-Terrain Robot.

Unit number: 5,000

Total Price: (w/ Gaian rate of exchange) - $422.550 Billion

These will meet our SpecOps needs rather well, rather than for front line assets. (Our OmniMechs and Angel Gods meet that criteria.)

Two Union-C DropShips will be sent with a Frigate to retrieve the units.

((OOC: We're advertisers, not historians. We pass what looks good on paper as the facts. There's no need to say Dozle was a rogue or that he was possesed by a potentially crazy A.I. while he lost that war, or even that he lost the war. The important thing is that he used our robots in the war and they were his primary troop, and that he held his own against a trifecta alliance of two experienced NS nations and one I haven't heard of before. He, for lack of a better word, owned the competition royally with the robots in the short run, and that's all the consumer needs to know. :p ))

The Sovereignty of Kyanges would like to outfit the rest of our forces with these robots, the first shipment of units has performed far beyond previous performance expectations and we can't wait to get our hands on the next. However, 2 million units is hardly enough to adequately defend all of our interests. Therefore, we'd like to inquire about a deal where The Resi Corporation would be the main supplier of continuous shipments of the S.O.A.T. SpecOps Droids until our needs have been filled.

Current estimates total at around a whopping 7,000,000,000 units. However, more realistic proposals top around an additional 4,000,000 S.O.A.T. Mrk. IIs to our previous order of 2 Million.

We are considering a plan of 1,000 units annually, with a payment of $6,000,000,000 to be made for each shipment, until we have met our needs.
We need to know the estimated matainance costs and average operational life span for each unit however, before we make our final decision.

With proper maintenence every five years, operation of these robots is indefinate. As for maintenence costs themselves, we provide maintenence free of charge to our customers, provided they transport their robots to the nearest International Robotic Nano-Maintenence Center (IRNMC) on ResiCorp's main island or any of its assets abroad. The cheaper alternative for an army like yours would be to pay us $120 million to build a large-sized IRNMC in your capital, therefore making yourself completely self-sufficient as far as the robots are concerned. As for maintaining the IRNMC, it maintains itself with virutally the same system it uses for the robots.

We have entered the script for your order into our distribution program, and you have your choice of rewards for being such a generous buyer. You may either have a free shipment of 1,000 S.O.A.T.'s, or 2.5% off the total sale price of this extended deal.

We hope to do business with you in the future, although I must ask- is there a particular reason this particular machine was picked? Was it symbolism, or was it just an interest in the mechanisms of these particular machines? Or something else entirely?

To the Esteemed Potentate of Tiburon:

True, but as of now nations have invested heavily in these new 'bots, and it hasn't even been a sales year yet. Betraying our customers at this juncture would do horrors for our international reguard, and our brand-name trust. Anything with a ResiCorp logo on it would be highly suspect, and that's something we don't want.

As for why we chose the S.O.A.T.'s, it's fairly simple. These are battle-tested robots. Their design is proven to be pretty close to a be-all end-all of combat robots. They were Dozle's troop, and reguardless of the fact he lost the war they put up a damn good fight. Not only does it have the "battle-tested" label tagged onto its name, but it also has "historic memorabilia" labeled on there too. The S.O.A.T.'s are, for better or worse, a very effective piece of history, and history sells.

The price of these constructs is simply too high in respect to it's performance. The Autarch would be willing to conclude a contract for purchase, but it must be at a reduced price.

However, The Autarch is still interested in purchasing a number of these constructs for use at our yet to be built terrestrial base, simply as it is logistically more feasible.

The price of these constructs is simply too high in respect to it's performance. The Autarch would be willing to conclude a contract for purchase, but it must be at a reduced price.

Open letter to the Engineers Guild:

These robots were tested through the Dozle War and passed with flying colors, a trial-by-fire that not many robots could match. Should we have known you were going to use these robots as a vessel for self-promotion, we would not have sold them to you. As such, we will not sell you more at a reduced price.

In parting, we feel obligated to point out that it's a little suspicious when a collective such as yours tests our robots against theirs, and somehow their robots win. The phrase "conflict of interests" comes to mind.

OOC: That is somewhat of a hyperbole or even an outright lie. They were only effective in massive wave attacks against energy weapons and electromatic propelled ordinace. Hell they were smashed in huge numbers by 30mm CIWS weapons using explosive shells at less that 2000 meters.

Of course the CIWS systems had to be on armored platforms to survive the incomming fire of the SOATS,
but still they still mangaged to do signigicant damage to the Dozle assult.

And of course the SOATs had a real weakness is against gravemtrically suspended armored drones with energy weapons. Which was shown in the Breakthrough at Tunnel 18.

((OOC: They were in battle, some survived, and they took down large numbers of enemies. They didn't WIN, but they did some major damage and aren't inherantly flawed in any way, shape or form. That counts as a trial-by-fire. I'm not saying we didn't exagurate, but that's our JOB.))

The constructs built by the Engineers Guild are not for sale to anyone. Therefore it would be pointless for the Engineers Guild to stage fixed tests to promote the superiority of their constructs, it would serve no purpose. It has also already been decided that the constructs we purchase for our new terrestrial embassy will be provided by a terrestrial manufacturer. The Engineers Guild is not competing to provide these constructs, nor will they.

Your constructs were given a standard battery of operational and survivability tests in which they scored in the 'average' range on all tests. Your constructs were never tested 'against' any other constructs, but against a range of variables that calculate performance in an unbiased manner.

We will continue to look for a terrestrial supplier.

To the esteemed potentate of Gordenia:

We are sorry that your order has been backlogged, we are experiencing a period of civil unrest that proves detrimental to production. However, we are doing our best to fulfill your order as soon as humanly possible. These units you have ordered are being transferred from our factories in Defacto Russia, far from the unrest in our nation's capital. Please note our sincerest apologies as to this delay.

The units will arrive each in their own way, the Ravens and Tanks simply flying themselves over to your nation, while the robots and weapons will simply be shipped via spaceplane, as will the construction crews for the modern city packs. Expect delivery gradually over the course of the next year.

Also, your payment plan is acceptable, but with one minor change. Should you send any of your purchase into battle, we will require the last part of the payment plan from you on those units even if they are damaged. Damage on the battlefeild, after all, is far from normal wear and tear.
