occ:As you can see my nation is run by a loosley affiliated and very weak Senate. The only time they get power is when they go to war. Each City state has it's own military, and goverment much like ancient days.

This thread will be an ongoing thread for each City State War, you can join whenever you want.

IC: Greek National News
Tensions are rising between Athens, and Sparta again. Already many city-states have begun to choose sides, which only adds to the increasing tensions. If a war does break out it will be the Military Dictatorships vs the Demacracies again. The last time it happened it lasted for 5 years and was very damaging. The Democratic Alliance had barely come out victorious if not for the battle of Athens.

Yet now that Sparta has had time to rebuild people believe the outcome will be different.

The daily intelligence briefing was Prime Minister’s Tetley first agenda after breakfast. It was a good time of day, being after his morning shower and tea. The Central Directorate compiled a shortlist of all the important international events, especially those relating to states with whom the Commonwealth maintained diplomatic relations, through their own means of intelligence gathering and from the observation of foreign news reports. Thus, it came as no surprise that Tetley heard the CD man refer to the City States of Greece, a new nation that the Commonwealth was proud to have established ties with. “And according to native news reports, it appears as if tensions are increasing between the two dominant city-states – Athens and Sparta. Currently it seems as if they are similar to the ancient Greek polis system with each city maintaining its own government and armed forces. Presumably, the victorious state will become the guiding hand of the loose confederation of all city-states.”

Tetley nodded, “so where do we stand in terms of deployable assets to assist our friends?”

“For that, sir, I’d have to defer to my counterpart from the Defence.”

The attention turned to a captain in the Royal Navy, a man who belonged to the Office of Royal Navy Intelligence (ORNI). “Well, Mr. Prime Minister, currently we have very few forces in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean theatres. There is a single nuclear submarine operating in the Med and another in the Atlantic. However, given recent deployments of our assault ships to the Verdant Archipelago and a deployment ‘exercise’ to out southeast, we have no real deployable assets that could provide on-the-ground support. The best we could do would be to dispatch a carrier group, but that would take nearly two weeks to arrive.”

Tetley nodded, “So, gentlemen, until we gain territorial assets in the Atlantic theatre, our actions to support our friends and allies are still limited. I want you to relay to your superiors my displeasure at finding out we have no military bases near the Atlantic. However, being that such complaints won’t do anything for the Greek city-states, I want to be able to provide them with access to our nuclear sub. But I suppose we’ll need to take sides.”

In the long run, a Greece ruled by Athens would be warmer to commercial ties rather than military ones, which was something that the commercial empire of the Commonwealth found more agreeable, however, if the Commonwealth wanted to expand militarily into the Atlantic region perhaps Sparta would be a better fit. This was Tetley’s dilemma, two different long-run benefits to interference that both fit into his strategic long-term goals for the Commonwealth.

Yet, he knew that free-trade was the most beneficial element of the Commonwealth’s security. Military assistance could provide him with bases and overseas security, but without any true colonies so far away, a base would merely ease logistical concerns when operating in the Atlantic or Mediterranean.

Encrypted Message to Athens

The Commonwealth is watching the developing events with unease as we have no desire to find our new friend falling into chaos after just meeting them. To that end, the Commonwealth has a single nuclear-powered attack submarine operating in the Mediterranean that would be able to provide limited assistance to your city should hostilities actually break out.

You might be suspicious of our motives, and I assure you that in part there are ulterior motives. You see, the Athens of old was always interested in securing maritime trade – and to that end ancient Athens and this Commonwealth are very similar. Our nation is an archipelago that depends upon free-trade over the seas. And so we are more than willing to assist those states that espouse and practice democracy and free-trade because at the conclusion it may be possible for our states to sign trade agreements to the benefit of both our nations.

OOC: Athens will be blue, Sparta Red

IC:
The Current king of Sparta, Melos watched with interest as his military paraded the streets of Sparta. They were preparing for a sneak attack on the Athenian Empire, and officially end the corrupt reign of the Athenians. Melos would bring an empire under Greek influence, promote dozens of colonies and soon they would rule the Mediterranean as the Ancient Romans once did.

Over 1,000 troops half of the Spartan Military. Dozens of tanks had been prepared as well. Although The U.G.M. (United Greek Military) numbered close to 10,000, Sparta could take them on and win. Now Melos ordered the beginning.

Meanwhile 30 Cruise Missiles flew and exploded in the Athenian Airbase closest to Athens. Planes flipped over and fire flew everywhere. Causing widespread horror.

Spartan Air Base
Dozens of Fighters flew into the air, escorting bombers. They flew to the Athenian Air Space, and for some reason not harmed or warned. They flew over Athens...and all hell broke loose.

=================

Suddenly fire exploded into the streets of Athens, people ran for cover. Fighters flew over and people screamed in pain, agony, and shock.

The Athenian high command was instantly into action.
"What, and how did this happen, why didn't radar pick'em up?" Octavius shouted. He was the President of the Athens, and therefore leader of the Democratic Alliance.

"Apparently a flight was arriving from a good will tour ... we thought that was them!" The Defense Commander shouted over the noise of bombardment.

"Well, launch a counter strike!" Now Octavius's anger was unchecked.

"We can't, they attacked everything we are completely disabled." The Defense Commander Continued.

The Defense Commander shouted, the bombardments was getting to the point of deafening.

"Get a hold of them now!" Ocatvius said, adding to the shouting.

"Aye, Sir" The Defense Commander left the building.

The ancient subs soon crept forward undetected due to the chaos in the city. They moved quickly with no fear of detection, they arrived at their target and unloaded. Dozens of ships were hit. Some exploded, others just were severely damaged. Now with Athens no longer a Naval Power. The Spartans would easily take Athens.... and Greece

Operating in the Aegean Sea

Captain Frank Pierce studied the images and reports with a close eye, apparently no response had been yet given to the Commonwealth and already Athens was being attacked by Sparta. The idea would have been comical to him for he had been reading recently on the Peloponnesian War, and here he was stuck in the middle of the modern reinterpretation. However, without word from Athens granting him permission, the cruise-missile submarine could do nothing but wait for orders.

The center section of the submarine carried twelve land-attack subsonic stealth cruise missiles, the forward torpedo room had six extra heavy 533mm torpedoes and the vertical launch system had six anti-ship cruise missiles ready to deploy in addition to the six torpedoes in the tubes already. Pierce contemplated the availability of targets, studying the diagrams and locations of Spartan military assets provided to him by Commonwealth satellites. He was in the midst of reviewing Sparta’s naval power when his communications officer interrupted him.

“Captain, the word came. Apparently Athens has appealed for our assistance. They’ve apparently been completely disabled and their docks are being invaded by a maritime invasion force.”

Pierce nodded, that would cement the first targets. The Spartan naval ships outside Athens. He rose and made his way from the cabin to the control room.

Ooc: what sort of ships and how many are the Spartans using to attack Athens. That and if cruise missiles were to be launched to… eliminate Spartan leadership and command and control, where would my satellites and Athenian intelligence point my sub to?

One of the Commonwealths many spy satellites circling over the planet was passing over Greek territories relaying real-time images to Pheanix Intelligence Agency, also known as PIA. Various intelligence officers were analyzing the images, while the Director of the PIA Samantha was meeting with the Prime Minister to bring him up to speed on the current events unfolding in the Greek States.

“Haven’t those Greeks learned how to work peacefully?” the Prime Minister moaned as his Intelligence Director finished her report.

“So what do you want to do Erick?” she asks the Prime Minister closing the folder in her lap and handing it over to one of her aids.

“Call a meeting of the Chief of Staffs, have them come up with a plan to end this problem quickly”

“Yes sir…but what side shall we help?”

“Who else the Spartans, with a strong military in charge it will be easier to avoid more needless war between them. Don’t you think?”

“I guess you right Erick, I shall see to it that this is quickly resolved.”

Samantha quickly too her leave and went to call a meeting of the Chief of Staff to come up with a plan to help the Spartans win the war. Hour after hour passed as the Generals, Admirals and Marshals enters into a heated discussion about what should the Commonwealth Forces do and their role in the war. By mid afternoon they decided on a plan and presented it to the Prime Minister, who after another few hours of deliberation approved it, ordering the beginning of Operation Olympus.

Official Message to all the Greek City States,
“Fellow citizens of the world, we are grieved to hear you are once again up in arms against in others. It is sad to hear that the cradle of western civilization continues in this day and age to fight amongst them getting nowhere, only achieving the destruction of their own people. For this we have decided to intervene and lend a helping hand to the Spartans, who although are the aggressors in the war are the only strong enough to maintain order and prevent this from happening if they are victorious. So from this moment on, the Commonwealth of Pheanix pledges its assistance in men and war materials to the Spartans and their allies.”

Encrypted Message to Prime Minister of Pheanix

The Commonwealth of Azazia has intercepted your message to the Greek city-states and has found your course of action highly disturbing. Surely an elected Prime Minister such as yourself fully realizes the value of democratic traditions in a developing state as well as the importance of such government in advancing the economic situation in a state. Therefore, I find it odd that your nation is supporting Sparta with their brazen, aggressive, and unjustified assault on Athens. It is Athens which truly invokes the democratic spirit of government, it is Athens where democracy was born, and as democratic nations we ought not to support those that wish merely to snuff the flame which brings light to the world. We ought to vigorously defend against those who wish to douse the flame that lights the world of freedom and hope.

As to your mere concerns about enforcing peace after the conflict has come to a close, in that regard we advocate for strengthening the Greek states into a more federal system of government that would create a stronger Greek nation-state instead of an inefficient system of city-states that continuously bicker and fight. Do you not seriously think that should Sparta be victorious Athens would remain silent and obey Sparta? Athens will find a way to rearm herself and throw off the reigns of Sparta. And of course if Athens wins, she will subjugate Sparta. Consequently, the course of action we must follow is to look for the long-term solidification of a Greek state. In the interest of democracy and freedom we should hope to help the Greeks build a system of government styled after Athen’s own democracy, and not the authoritarian military dictatorship of Sparta. And should Athens win, surely the Greek city-states would be more likely to create a powerful federal state based on democratic traditions.

I strongly urge you to reconsider your loyalties in this conflict, as they will benefit no one in the long run.

We know that Athens is the cradle of democracy and freedom, and we also know that the unjust Spartan attack on Athens should be condemn, but we must still support them as they shall bring stability back to the region once they defeat the Athenians and their allies. The Commonwealth is backing the Spartans and their allies in this conflict, we shall strength them to keep the Athenians checked once they are defeated. By aiding the stronger faction we can end this bloody conflict faster and bring peace to the region.

Surely you know that we can’t impose democracies in nation who don’t want them or don’t need them, how many monarchists are loved by their respective subjects? It is a matter of common sense not every country in the world wants or need to be a democracy as long as their citizens are happy, we of the Commonwealth shall help them maintain their status quo. Besides after the conflict is over we shall maintain a substantial military presence in Spartan Greece, to make sure that they don’t mistreat the citizens of the defeated city-states. I’m sure that your fair nation would be sway from helping the Athenians if they too could keep a military presence in the area, although both things would have to be discussed with the Spartans.

The Commonwealth understands your concerns about post-conflict stability in Greece; however, your assertion of self-determination fails to account for the extreme likelihood that Sparta will impose its own style of government upon Athens. There is indeed precedent for it in Greek history, the establishment of the Athenian oligarchy after Spartan victory ended Athenian democracy. Thus allowing Sparta to be the victor defeats entirely this purpose of self-determination, which I should note we also agree upon as being a fundamental aspect of any nation of people. However, the Athenian democratic system will allow for the defeated to elect their own style of government, should those people choose a despotism the Commonwealth would not be opposed to its implementation; however, the Spartan system of government inherent to its nature does not allow for such self-determination.

We are more than willing to work with your government to create a stable Greece, however, I am quite certain that the superior numbers of our united national effort could easily crush any resistance offered by the Greek city-states as individually they are quite incapable of fielding large armies that could resist the thousands of troops we could pour into Greece. It is our two states that are the strongest factions, and should we desire we could easily ensure the victory of Athens, or some other third party that we choose. One of the inherent traits of loosely-governed states is a weakened coherent military force, and I am more than sure that our combined forces – or individual forces – are more than enough to institute whatever victor we choose.

Given our immense amount of military power, I urge you to look at the long-term stability of the region. The despotic rule of the Spartan military will surely result in strife in the other Greek city-states, whereas if Athens is able to instill democracy the individual city-states will be able to institute a government that suits and serves their own needs best, not that of Sparta. For it is not merely the mistreatment of citizens that we fear, but the very nature of Spartan civilization spreading throughout the rest of Greece. And unfortunately, cultural diffusion is not something that can be stopped with sword and shield.

I should also warn you that should you elect to support Sparta against Athens, it might become necessary for our military units to act against your own, which is something I dreadfully wish to avoid happening. I dearly hope that we can resolve our differences peacefully before our own blood is spilt by the other.

Then we are at a crossroads my friends, although I seem to have the advantage right now. Thanks to our satellites we know that you don’t have many assets available to deploy in the theatre not to mention that time is against you right now as the Spartans are quickly gaining the upper hand by themselves, and the Commonwealth troops are almost ready to enter the fray. We know that Azazia warrior as fierce as are Pheanix troopers, and a clash of our military forces would be disastrous to the Greek people since most of the battles would be fought there.

We of the Commonwealth of Pheanix never intended for our forces to clash but such things are inevitable if we help opposing factions, but one thing you say intrigues us helping a third party win the conflict. It would be wise to explore this option and to some extent make a compromise of who should rule the Greek peninsula, but what other City-State is powerful enough and respected enough to unite the Greek people under their banner?

But if such compromise cannot be reach between our nation, I fear for the consequences of a clash between our forces will have to the Greek peninsula. Although we cant promise anything right now, our forces will neither target nor attack any troops you may send to the region…for the time being.

Then we have arrived at the juncture I have most feared. You may well enjoy the advantage right now, but like any dog backed into a corner, the Commonwealth will fight until the bitter end, exacting inexorable casualties on all those who seek to endanger her way of life or the way of life of her friends and allies – and a friend we do consider Athens.

It was in the interests of the Greek peoples that began these negotiations, for any conflict between our two sides would surely result in the utter devastation of their infrastructure and the basic implements of their industry. Perhaps in the interest of saving the Greeks from their own destruction it would be possible to strengthen a third party to force negotiations. In this case, (ooc: assuming that the Greek city-states are all along the same ancient lines as they have so far been maintained to be) we would nominate the island of Aegina or perhaps Corinth which sits between Athens and Sparta. However, we would need to move quickly if we are to stem the invasion and destruction of Athenian culture and way of life.

However, should you want to persist in your course of action in aiding Sparta, we remind you that not all who suffer from disastrous surprise attacks remain beaten. Those on the defence often have the upper-hand. And so, in response to your non-targeting of Commonwealth military assets that may enter the area, when our forces arrive, they will not target Pheanix soldiers, sailors, or airmen unless fired upon first.

"Mother, the White Tower has just recieved intelligence that the state of Greece is descending into Civil War." An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah curtised as she reported. "Rise Daughter, the cities in Greece are fighting among themselves? Interesting.... However we are knee deep inside the Euroslavian Civil War crisis and the situation here in Haven is not good as well. I don't think its wise to deploy any more divisions of the Tower Guard overseas anymore." She looked at her Keeper of the Chronicles. "Indeed Mother, however we must strive to foster good relations with Athens without being directly involved in their conflict. According to the Oni Gang Spies, other nations are getting involved in this conflict. Furthermore there is a small chance that a third party might try to attempt a coup and rule Greece."

The Amrylin Seat nodded her head, "Very well, we will observe this conflict without sending troops in but we will provide whatever humanitarian aid that these cities require, remember we are to take a neutral stance on this crisis. However....if another nation decides to try and take over the nation, we will intervene and will try our best to stop them and also have Spymistress Q deploy several Oni Gang Spies into all cities for observation purposes, I want unbiased reports from the conflict. Until then we will watch and wait." The other Aes Sedai nodded, "As you command Mother."

After a few hours of deliberation and consulting with my Intelligence Service, we choose Corinth as its prime location gives it a great location to oversee both Spartan and Athenian de-miniaturization. The 99th Marine Division and the 7th Armored Division will begin getting airlifted to the plains around Corinth to defend the city while they rally their own troops. The rest of the 1st Expeditionary Corp is almost ready just give us another week and they will be in theatre, as they just got underway by boat.

We still need to help Athens as its facing almost immediate defeat by its un-readyness for battle, but until the rest of the 1st EC lands on Greece I have no way to help them. We have instructed General Krook, a veteran of a few wars, to treat your nations troops as neutrals for the time being, although an alliance between our nations would be welcomed. He is to coordinate the defense and submission of the other City- States with your theatre Commander, as to better use our military power.

Puton Airbase

All over the airbase the ground crews were running from place to place making sure the airplanes were in perfect order as the 7th Armored Division and the 99th Marine Division finished loading into the massive rows of C-130 Cargo planes. General Krook was among the officers supervising the loading, making sure every marine and tank crew had enough supplies for a few days as they didn’t know what to expect.

A few hour later the massive C-130 Hercules Cargo Planes took off one by one toward the conflict ridden Greek territories. Sixty F-22 Raptors took off from nearby airfields to provide escort for the many Transport planes, almost half of the Air Mobile Command was in the air right now so those planes needed protection ASAP. Thirty F-16 Falcons joined the escort planes a few minutes later, it was a massive air mobilization from part of the Commonwealth of Pheanix but it was for a just cause.

Trent Naval Base

All kind of supplies were being loaded into the transport ships, from food and water to bombs and ammunition, and that’s not counting the normal supplies for the rest of the Carrier Groups. It was a momentous naval mobilization, one to test the will of the Pheanixian Navy; thankfully the many transport ships were being protected by the pride of the Navy, the Norad and Ultra, Flagships of the 1st Fleet of the Pheanixian Navy.

Admiral Rad stood silently atop the bridge of the Ultra Battle Carrier watching the loading of the many different kind of airplanes and choppers into the mighty ship. It would be another day or two before the gigantic fleet went underway, although he sent some elements ahead to scout and secure a route toward their objective. This was something for the history books to remember, specially if they achieve their goal.

IC:
The Senate was in uproar, yet it wasn't about the attack Athens, it was about Athens getting help from outsiders.

"Athens, you know the laws, never would we ever except help from outsiders, no foreign military power was to touch ground in Greece, after the war is over, we will all be there to watch Athens suffer punishment" The Corinth and Thebes representatives yelled at Jason, the Chief of the Senate.

"But-"

"No buts! War is coming to Greece, not some puny city-state war, but an actual invasion! They are plotting even as we speak!" Sparta yelled.

"Sparta, although you are the cause, you have the most able military, we shall name you current Chief Councilor, until war's end." The Argos Representative announced.

"You can't do this!" Jason screamed.

"In our eyes, Jason" Corinth hissed his name, "You are a traitor, Guards take him away!"

10 Armed soldiers surged forward and handcuffed the Former Councilor, he was taken away.

"Thank you all, I will promise by war's end I will lay down this power and let democracy flourish, but until then we must all unite under one banner, let our enemies tremble, let them quiver under our feet!"

Chorus of yells shouted into the Senate building.

The planes prepared to take off on the flight to Greece, it was 1 hour flying time from the Austian Island, and the 500 bombers would hit Sparta in 2 hours time, 1 hour after the 7th fighter legion ahd taken out the enermy forces.

the 7th was launching from Sicilia Austini (Southen Scicaly) and would be in enermy airspace within 20 minuates, there the 500 hounds would engage enermy forces.
---------------
Austian Legionary base=Sicilia Austini

The Austians begn to climb aboard boats on there way to attack Sparta, they planned to land on the east coast of Corinth, near where a golden statue of Zues once stood and then they would push south towards Sparta.

25,000 men where climbing aboard the boats, the other 12,500 and the tank corp coming from Aust in the far south, they would arrive the 10 days, so until then the Austian forces would have to fight for themselves.

They had air cover of course, but the massive flotialla of Austian transport ships would be vaunrable, so the where hoping that enermy navys would be deployed elsewhere.

I endeavour to bring you fair news on this day of tragedy in Greece. However, it seems as if we have a common purpose though our paths have never before met. We both seek to save Athens from the unjustified Spartan assault. Our satellites have detected a large number of Austian ships making way for the Greek states, though with little apparent naval support. Currently I have a single nuclear attack submarine, very advanced, and very silent, operating in the Aegean. It’s been given orders to launch an attack on important Spartan military targets. Afterwards, however, it should still retain a reasonable capability to fight off foreign naval vessels – though its store will be limited without our resupply. Consequently, I am offering you the protection of the Royal Navy, as much as a single submarine can accomplish, should you be willing to accept our assistance.

I hope this letter finds a fellow royal well and in good health.

Somewhere in International Airspace

The many C-130 Cargo Planes stayed on course, under the protection of a powerful military escort to ensure their safe arrival on theatre. But the ever-changing politics of the world would cause a great set back to the Pheanixian forces, although they will continue with the original plan.

“Sir we are receiving new info on the Greek problem” the communications officer of Generals Krook C-130 said to him.

“What seems to be the problem Ensign?” the General asked wanting to know how it would change his strategy.

“Well Sir, it appears that the Greeks have united against foreign incursion, the Spartans have taken the helm and the Athenian leadership is in the process of being imprison” the Ensign read from the message, adding a few minor details here and there. A few seconds after the Ensign finish reading the first message a second one came through the secure link with Pheanixian HQ. “Sir, another nation seems to be backing Athens, things are getting pretty chaotic out there.”

“This seems to have become a hotspot for international deployment, huh Ensign” the General responded as he look over some maps to check out their landing zone, “alert all planes and order them not to fire unless fire upon first, we shall land on the Plains between Athens and Corinth”.

“Yes sir” the Ensign respond saluting before relaying the message to the rest of the flying armada.

I see you both of you are intent on backing Athens in this upcoming conflict, but you both lack some important assets in the theatre. In approximately less than a week, two Carrier Groups and two Amphibious Groups will be arriving with the 1st Expeditionary Corp to help stabilized the region. Two of their Divisions are already en route via airlift, the 7th Armored and the 99th Marine Divisions; they shall land in the plains between Athens and Corinth.

Thanks to the recent turn of events our nation is now going to back the Athenian government. We urge that our forces work together to help the Athenians, although our stance is that another City-State like Corinth or Thebes be place in power to end the squabble between Athens and Sparta once the war is over.

Emperor Mikhail I
If you could provide us with naval support it would be very useful, most of our navy is in Aust or in action in The Merchant Guilds, the few ship we do have in the mediteranian are stationed to protect our colonys there.

We where hoping our overwelming Air Power would keep our ships safe, but a your submarine was invaluable.

HMS Sandtiger
Operating in the Aegean Sea

“Weapons officer, set target for Missile 1. Set target SP-HQ-BL2.” With his first cruise missile Pierce would target the Spartan military command, hoping to cause enough death and disruption to cause absolute chaos within the Spartan ranks. “Set target for Missile 2. Set target SP-AB-BL2/A. Set target for Missile 3. Set target SP-AB-BL2/B.” The second two missiles were targeting the bases where Spartan aircraft were just beginning to land and refuel. Hopefully, the high explosive warheads would ignite over the field, showering the runway with enough debris and craters to make it unusable. Secondly, he hoped to damage and destroy most of the Spartan airforce on the ground. “Set target for Missile 4. Set target SP-NB-BL3. Set target for Missile 5. Set target SP-NB-BL4.” The fourth and fifth missiles would be launched at the Spartan naval yards with the objective of disabling any Spartan vessels from sortieing on a mission to intercept Allied naval vessels. “Set target for Missile 6. Set target SP-GB-BL5.” The last missile on this launch would target the largest army base used by Sparta. The goal was to simply destroy as many supplies as possible and cut off the logistical train at the very source.

Pierce listened to his orders being repeated quickly and efficiently, something that bade well for the future of the Royal Navy. When he heard the last command repeated he began his new sequence. “Weapons officer, commence firing of Missiles 1 through 6 of the center battery.”

“Commencing fire of Missiles 1 through 6 of the center battery, aye, sir.” From a hidden spot not to far from the Spartan coastline six large stealth cruise missiles broke the surface of the water and sped off towards their targets within Spartan-controlled territory.

Pierce would normally have congratulated his men, but he knew that the antiquated Spartan submarines operating near Athens would surely want revenge for the ensuing death and destruction about to befall Sparta. After all, as Athens hadn’t been expecting a surprise attack from Sparta, surely Sparta wasn’t expecting an attack from a submarine that wasn’t really there.

“Navigation officer, make best silent course and speed for the Austian convoy.”

The long slender hull of the submarine slowly turned about in the calm waters, before engaging her twin propellers at revolutions pushing the submarine forward at twelve knots, a speed at which she was still extremely quiet and hard to detect.

Message to Aust

As you wish, the naval groups have departed their respective ports and are underway toward greek territory, they shall arrive in about four days and have been instructed to lend any vessel flying either Azazia or Aust flag any aid they require. The advance guard of our Expeditionary Corp is currently landing and setting up a defensive position in the plains between Athens and Corinth, we should link up our forces and let our generals meet to come up with a plan to deal with this conflict.

Landing Zone

With a loud rumbling sound the large C-130 Hercules Transport Planes appear over the horizon, the many planes providing escort following close by. As quickly as they appear the massive cargo planes started descending, their destination the plains south of Athens. The men inside quickly checked their gear one last time, as they knew they were approaching their destination, all ready to die in honor of the Commonwealth. Although the Armored Division would not be ready for a few hours as the tanks needed to be unloaded before they could advance, something that the tank crews didn’t hated as they wanted to get into action as soon as possible. General Krook was pleased; everything was going smoothly and easy, just as plan.

With a quick order from Alpha Leader, half the escorting planes broke formation and headed toward the Spartan City-State, their mission to bomb the hell out of them. Over 70 planes headed into hostile airspace, all alert as the enemy still an air force to defend themselves, but the Commonwealth pilots were ready this was what they were trained to do. The rest of the planes stayed covering the cargo planes and Athens from enemy aircrafts, who can come from anywhere as the Senate had declare war on any foreign power that touched Greek land.

A few minutes later the first of the many C-130 Cargo planes landed on the plains, quickly unloading its precious Marines who were more than happy to exit the cramped plane. This first contingent was one of many ordered to secure the designated area by the edge of the plains to keep enemy troops from entering unannounced and disrupting the unloading process. It was a dirty job but someone got to do it and the Marines quickly went ahead with the task. They were joined by more and more contingents of troops as they landed and made their way toward the perimeter, by nightfall the 99th Marine Division was on the ground.

While that happened, the Cargo Planes carrying the 7th Armored Division makes its way toward the Athenian airport, needing better facilities to land such a cumbersome force. Their unloading process was slow to say the least, as the Athenians were preparing for such a force to come help them right now. The Division was task with protecting the city from enemy incursion, all they could do now was wait, their turned would soon come.

The Pheanix forces would soon succumb to the Greek Air Might. The Fighters had waited for them to land, all SAMs had been deactivated for this reason. Now over 100 EuroFighter Typhoons flew in wedge formations to show the enemy forces what Greek Bravery was all about. They arrived and instantly saw enemy fighters, squads Alpha to Game pealed off and headed for them while the remaining 6 squadrons moved in on the transports landing, and the marines.

They sprayed the enemy ground while the other fighters were engaged in air battle.

Sparta
While the various cruise missiles struck home causing various damage, it still would have no effect. The Spartan High Military Command had been moved, and the fighters had taken off, however most bombers were still on ground and dozens had gone up in flames. The Airfields were the biggest problem but could be fixed with just landing in an other city-state territory.

Corinth Intelligence HQ
"Sir you may want to look at this"

"What is it ensign?" Naval Commander Valez wondered.

"Apparently a large convoy is heading towards Greece, what should we do?"

"Simple. Order the Sub Pack to move on an intercept course with them, it should....cause some damage" with that the commander smiled.

"Orders are being relayed ... the enemy convoy should come under attack in around (Insert Time Here)."

"Excellent, inform the High Command of the U.G.C.S. (Unified Greek City States), that we will begin Operation: Greek Spirit as soon as the enemy lands."

"Excellent"

The Corinth navy had come up with a few ideas to help...stop the enemy. From mine laying around the coast of Sparta and Athens all the way to establishing bunkers around the two main city states. This was done to protect Sparta, and keep Athens a prisoner.

In the Air

Beta Leader was over flying Athens patrolling the skies when he got the first red blip on his radar, “Oh, shit. Well boys the fun is about to start” he said as he ordered his squadrons to form up and face the incoming enemy fighters, “Fire at will boys, Fire at will”. Knowing they were overwhelmed Beta Leader quickly radio his counterpart assign to bomb Sparta, “Alpha Leader this Beta Leader do you copy?”

“Beta Leader, this is Alpha Leader whats the mattered?”

“Incoming enemy aircrafts with overwhelming numbers need reinforcements, over”

“On our way Beta Leader, over”

With that Alpha Leader began relaying instruction to his planes quickly turning around and accelerating to help Beta Leader and his pilots. “Well boys lets show this Greeks how we fight” were his sole words, but enough to make cheer erupt from his command, which were all ready to give the enemy pilots a run for their money. But to be sure he sent a message to the Aust forces in the theatre, “This Alpha Leader, Commander of Airwing 77th of the Pheanixian Air Force, request aerial reinforcements in the vicinity of Athens to defend its airspace and our troops already in place. I repeat request back up in the vicinity of Athens, please respond.”

On the Ground

General Krook was directing the fortification of the plains while his 7th Armored Division finished unloading from the cargo planes. One of his staff quickly brought him up to date about incoming enemy fighters, and tried to take him to cover but being hotheaded the General stayed with his troops out in the open directing personally the defense. There was no time to erect more anti-air sites or the like, the General only had his mobile anti-air artillery to work with, which weren’t that many but still it was fine as long as they could bring down the enemy.

The Marine Division was anotehr story, the marines had been constructing some defenses to protect Athens from a land invasion from the south were Corinth and Sparta were located. Although not completely finish they still had some anti-air gun in place, and some platoon even carried Stinger Missiles with them so at least they would die fighting. But since most of the troops weren’t equip to fight aircrafts they simply dove for cover behind the armored vehicles, hoping to make it out alive.

Naval Convoy

The Carrier and Amphibious Combat Groups had been underway for some time now, but they still needed to traverse a lot of open water before arriving at their destination. CAP’s were being flown all the time since departure and the guns manned at all times, in the last war the Pheanixian Navy suffer a heavy blow but this time things would be different. Admiral Rad was reviewing the landing plans as to make it go as smoothly as possible, especially since he was receiving reports of enemy aircrafts attacking the Pheanixian forces already in place.

OOC:Just some things that were probably my fault.
1. Azazia I couldn't afford two sub packs, so I meant the one that was attacking athens my apologies,

2. Athens is under U.G.C.S control . They took control of it quickly after they asked for assistance. Since the Senate was there it was a main objective.

Im sorry guys but can you edit your posts, thanks

Ooc: don’t worry about it; but before we get into it, if we get into it… can you give me any background on the subs?

HMS Sandtiger
Operating in the Aegean Sea

At a speed of twelve knots the long teardrop hull of the Sandtiger slid through the deeps of the Aegean Sea, to the west of Sparta off the Peloponnesian Peninsula. Two hours ago he had raised the ship to communications depth and had taken the latest intelligence reports from Royal Navy Headquarters back in the Commonwealth. Reports of submarine launched attacks on Athenian docks had ceased and the ground operations were continuing. His cruise missile strike had been a slight bit off, though he had managed to knock out a good part of their bomber fleet – something that would give the Athenians perhaps one good bit of good news. However, he was now left with seven cruise missiles to strike Spartan targets to halt their advance on Athens.

By this point, it seemed as if the Greek city-states had united behind Sparta to repel a foreign invasion. To some extent Pierce sympathized, however, at the same time Sparta would surely not allow Athens to go unpunished, and the world’s founder of democracy would cease to exist as it formerly did. The Commonwealth would not abandon Athens, no matter how perilous the situation of its lone combat vessel.

The Austian fleet was approaching from the west, and he now had to act as the vanguard for a massive invasion fleet. It was always interesting, of course, to be outnumbered and outgunned – for it meant the slyer the opponent, the more likely he were to be the winner. Unfortunately, the Greeks had a history of sly commanders, one merely need to look at Odysseus.

But Odysseus was long since dead, and Frank Pierce now played his role. Finding a way to defeat the massive armies of Troy, which ironically were now the same Greeks the real Trojans had fought on the shores of Asia Minor. The most likely goal of the Greeks would be to stop the invasion of Aust, but he still didn’t know where exactly they would be landing, but he could take a few guesses. Sparta was surrounded by mountain ranges and hilly climbs except to the due south, where a river valley swept out into a large bay. If not there, the bay to the west would also be suitable, but Aust would need to move over mountains – not impossible, but difficult given the tradition of mountain pass fighting evident from Thermopylae. The Spartans were the toughest of the tough, and Aust would likely try and avoid fighting their strengths, he would best on the most direct route.

The Greek submarines would need to sail south from Athens, down through the Aegean and the Crete Sea and close to the island of Kithira. More than likely Aust would be able to make the beaches before the subs could sail so far south to round the Peloponnesus and and Kithira, but if they cut through the channel separating the two they could shave some time off the clock. More than likely that would be where the Greeks sailed through.

So far as he knew, no one outside of Aust, Pheanix, and Athens knew of his presence, more than likely his mere presence in the theatre wouldn’t influence the Greek commanders decisions, but he could only hope. And so he set his course for the channel of Kithira, where he’d lay silent and deep since his was a nuclear sub that didn’t need to surface to charge the batteries… now it was a waiting game.

The 500 Austian Hounds receved there allies transmission and changed course, heading to aid Beta Leader, it was not long until they where into range and they swooped onto the dogfight from above, each one unleashing two sidewinders from there missile ports and opening up with there GAU 9 25mm cannon.

With these numbers the Greek planes where doomed and the allies would be triumphant.

The bombers cruised through the air, taking a transmission from the Austian ships about enermy sub pacts attackin the fleet, the enermy subs had struck a few moments, ago, while the Austian fleet was 25 minuates from the enermy shore and had sunk 5 ships already, with a loss of 456 lives.

The Austian bombers swooped and began to drop there bunker busters, which, though designed to wirk on land, would be equally effective in the water.
