Planting the Flag, annexation of Greece (Earth III)

OOC: Greece did belong to Blacktower, but after an attempt to TG him, I found that his nation no longer exist. So I am claiming Greece on Earth III, which he owned. I need someone to RP as Greece.

IC: President al-Sahaf weighed the issue in his mind. Greece would be a nice extension to his Empire. And he thought so with Slovenia too. But there was intervention in Slovenia, that spiraled into a mini-World War. Would that happen if he sent troops over the border into Greece? "Oh well" he though in his mind. It was worth the gamble of taking it.

He sent the following message to the people of Greece:
"The nation of Greece is now owned by the Empire of Grays Hill. Troops will be sent in to secure your nation, in the name of Those who are Gray. I urge you not to fight, because your rebellion will be quelled."

With that, al-Sahaf ordered 1 million men to cross into mainland Greece, along with 11,000 MBTs. 500,000 Marines are to be used to go Island hopping to secure all islands owned by Greece.

12 B-2 bombers, along with 10 F-117 fighters were on standby to strike all radar facilites within 2 minutes of word comming in that Greece wouldnt surrender. Should Greece surrender, not one bomb will fall. Ground forces however were prepared to be attacked by Guerillas because it is certain there will be some citizens of Greece that wont be as accepting.

OOC: If I RP'd as Greece, would I use my full nation or just Greece as it exists now? I assume the latter, but it's worth a shot.

OOC: I'll take you up on the offer, just need to look at a few stats first.

IC:

Karolos Papoulias, President of Greece, was a very worried man. Foreign troops were assaulting Greece from the north, and commandos were siezing the islands in the Aegean. But for all that, he was a Greek, and he was proud of that. They had defied Persia, and now they would defy another great foe until the last drop of blood.

His message to the enemy was swift and defient

Greece will not fall until the last of our soldiers has fallen, our last plane shot down, and our last ship sunk. We will fight on as we fought the Persians long ago.

He left the message at that and met with his advisors to try and stop the enemy at the mountains. It was there they had an advantage, though a slight one, and it was there that they had to win.

To be continued when I research the Greek military...

To President al-Sahaf, this was no suprise, and he had the bombers on standby. He ordered a massive air strike. 12 B-2s, and 10 F-117s were to take the Greeks by suprise and destroy radar stations, SAMs and AA guns, and any grounded planes.

Shortly behind them came the non-stealth planes. F-15s, F-16s, and F-35s were ordered to strike naval stations on the mainland of Greece, and any on the many scattered islands.

The men pushed across the lands of Greece at break neck speed. al-Sahaf knew that, though 1 million was enough, it wasnt enough to take Greece with much breathing space. He ordered an exta 500,000 to Greece, in a second wave. All the men were provided close air support by A-10s and AH-64s that were on constant standby, and ready to launch an attack in a moments notice.

President Papoulias looked sick with worry. The overwhelming force levelled against the Hellenic Republic was just too much, and it would only be a matter of time before the nation fell in battle. As he entered the conference room installed in the underground bunker in Athens, a relic of the previous Blacktower regime, he prepared himself for the worst.

Already assembled in the room was the rest of the cabinent. Papoulias searched immediately for the Minister of National Defense, Kanaris, a short, balding man with steady, piercing eyes. It would be Kanaris's reception, more than anything he had to say to him, that would truly inform Papoulias of the scale of the disaster which had befallen his homeland.

Ministers, Assistants and Soldiers stood to attention as Papoulias swiftly entered the room. "Alright, settle people." said the President as he sat down, "How bad is this?"

Kanaris was not at the table. "Where is Kanaris?!" Shouldnt he be here?" It was then that Papoulias noted the abscence of several high-ranking government officials. The room fell awkardly silent and heads were bowed as Papoulias looked about for answers. "Well, whats going on, are they late? This is an extremely important meeting, were about to be crushed here!" shouted Papoulias.

"Sir, Kanaris has .... defected to Grays Hill, along with others" said a Soldier from behind the President sheepishly. "What?" said Papoulias in a shocked tone. "He said Greece was doomed, and the only thing left to do was surrender with honor. Maybe his right."

Papoulias arose slowly from his seat. "Alright then, who thinks we should surrender now and stop any bloodshed?" he said to the room. Several Ministers rose their hands, even the Vice-President Metaxas.

"I see." said Papoulias who strode over to the Soldier. He leaned into him and whispered. Suddenly Papoulias snapped the Soldier's sidearm, a 9mm Glock, and blasted 4 rounds into Metaxas at close-range. Metaxas gasped, then gurgled something, blood oozing from his mouth and slumped over across the table.

"There will be no surrender. There will be no more defections. I want Kanaris and the others found and I want them dead. Greece did not endure those years of oppression under the Ottomans, under the Nazis, just to fall now. No, while my lungs have air, we shall fight on." said Papoulias leaving the room.

Emperor Scorpius sat behind his desk, frowning as he looked over the computer files on the invasion of Greece. The young leader folded his hands in front of himself, leaning back in the seat and looking at his Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"Give our good friends in Grays Hill some funding," ordered the Irish Emperor. "And do ask what we are going to do with the 2,130 people from Sardinia that are being transported to Greece at this moment."
"Yes, sir," said Alexander Perkins, bowing slightly before turning and walking out.

The Imperial Third Fleet- Nearing Greece
Several transports from the Imperial Third Fleet, escorted by some battleships, approached Greece, sailing from Sardinia. With them they carried 2,137 Sardinians who refused to turn against the dying nation of Blacktower. Risban had recently taken over Blacktower Sardinia (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=395548) in the final set of Imperial conquests it would take out. Most of the residents had chosen to become Imperial citizens. These couple thousand, however, refused, and were thus being carried to the last shred of land owned by the waning government of Blacktower: Greece.
They encountered an obstable though: Grays Hill was invading Greece.
Orders had been received from Dublin to make an offer to Grays Hill...

Imperial Telegram to the Nation of Grays Hill
The Grand Imperium of Risban wishes Grays Hill the best of luck in its annexation of Greece. We will help fund your invasion with $3 Billion. We would over you the use of our navy, but it is currently preoccupied.
Recently, in the final real conquest that the Risban Empire shall partake in, we captured the southern portion of the island of Sardinia, whilst Praetonia took the northern half. There are exactly 2,137 people still loyal to Blacktower, and we were going to send them to Greece. However, due to you invading the country, we are at a loss as to what to do with them. Where woul you like us to put these Blacktower loyalists? Most of them are former Blacktower military.

In a secret TG to Risbans leader from President al-Sahaf:
"Have some sort of 'accident' in which the transport sinks and all the Blacktower scum die. I am prepared to repay you for you loss of the ship, if you wish to send it to the bottom."

Secret TG to President al-Sahaf.
So be it then. No need to pay for our transport; we possess enough funds.

Dublin, Ireland
Scorpius frowned once Alexander Perkins was finished replying to al-Sahaf's request. The Emperor was no one for completely needless killing. However, the Blacktower troops were dangerous, and Risban was technically in a state of war with them.
He sighed. "Give Duke Kramer the order," said the young emperor, waving a hand towards Perkins. "Abrahms will now how to go about doing it..."

Tunis, Tunisia
Duke Robert Kramer, governor of Risbanian North Africa, set his youngest son down as the phone rang. He picked it up. "Yes?... Ah, Alex! How are ya?.... Oh, I see.... Pity. I'll get on it right away."
He hung up, sighing. He smiled, ruffling his son's hair, and then walked out, heading towards his office.

The Imperial Third Fleet- Blacktower Sardinian Refugee Transport
Admiral Jack McFinnin was one of the most loyal admirals in the Imperial Navy. So, Duke Robert Kramer thought him the perfect candidate to go about this mission.
McFinnin stood aboard his ship; he was in charge of protecting the transports. He gazed down at the transport carrying the Blacktower loyalists. At least they're mostly men, he thought to himself. Mostly soldiers refused to become Imperial citizens.
He sighed, looking down at his control consel. The ship was approaching a rather rocky island, and it was already night. The sea was looking a bit choppy, and fog was beginning to engulf the small fleet... The perfect time for an accident, if equipment malfunctioned.
All Imperial holdings had a self-destruct button. The ship could either destroy their systems or the actual vessels. On land, for example, should the Empire of Risban ever be invaded and unable to defeat the invaders, Risban's entire nuclear arsenal would be released on itself, with or without the consent of the Emperor or Parliament. The Risbanians, particularly the Irish, were often referred to as 'Nuclear Lemmings', as they would kill themselves and ruin their land rather than submit to foreign rule.
And so, such a lemming act would be needed for the transport vessel. Admiral McFinnin pressed a sequence of buttons. All lights and equipment for the transport died out. Jack looked up, squinting through the night's fog; he could barely make out the commotion now taking place on the deck.
Several minutes passed....
Someone on the deck managed to get a loudspeaker and was calling for help. But none came.
A few more minutes passed...
There was a loud sound, followed by some screams. The transport had collided with the rocks. Now, its bottom torn open, the old, weak vessel was taking on water extremely fast and going down. Admiral McFinnin dispatched a special team on motor boats to pull out any Risbanians they might find. This team, half made up of agents that Myles Abrahms of Prometheus Intelligence sent, would make sure that any Blacktower loyalists found wouldn't make it out of the Mediterranean Sea.
Close to three hours later, Admiral McFinnin called Dublin. "It's done" was all he said.

Dublin, Ireland
Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius sighed as he put down the telephone, turning towards Julia Ormiv, his press secretary. "Have the Ministry of Intelligence release a report saying that the transport's systems failed and it collided with the rocks. Nearly all hands lost. Only eleven survivors, all of them Imperial marines...."
She nodded, bowing to the Emperor, and then stood up straight, smiling at him. "You do what you have to do, Rob. No use having a bad conscience. Why don't you go get a drink at the Brian Boru Pub?"
"It's not my conscience that is bothering me," said the young emperor, sitting down. "I'm having one of those feelings... Much like a did shortly before the Lucas Uprising and the January terrorist attacks."
The Press Secretary frowned. "Look, sir, no one has any reason to be at war with us. The only one in all Earth III who would have just reason to dislike us would be Hrstrovokia because we funded the people invading him. But, that conflict was settled between Grays Hill, Truitt, and Hrstrovokia. The destruction of the Blacktower transport will be seen as an accident; no one will declare war on Risban for an accident."
"Let's hope so. Release the statement."

Secret TG To President al-Sahaf From Alexander Perkins, Minister of Foreign Affairs
The mission was a success. No Blacktower citizens survived.

Al-Sahaf, i apologise for not being able to aid you in your conquest of this land. However as luck would have it we're tied up in the East fghting the Taiwanese. Of couse you should know that. Although as you know it is mostly an Air and Naval War, but we soon plan to change that.

The Island is small so fighting should end quickly, however if it doesn'twe will not be able to dedicate any troops to your conquest.

Apologies,
Ruben Aragon II

[OOC: I dont really have enough time to commit to this thread, so I'm going to go ahead and rp the surrender of the Greek Gov't. Greece is going to be defeated anyway, it has no allies and its weak compared to Grays Hill.]

Statement from the Government of the Hellenic Republic

The Greek Government, representing the people of Greece, formally surrender to the invasion forces of Grays Hill. We see no reason why we should continue, alone and outnumbered, when the end result is inevitable. To continue to fight would be a vain waste of life. However, considering our co-operation with Grays Hill in surrendering, we expect that Greece allow to enter the Empire of its own will, and not by annexation. We await the reply of the Grays Hill Gov't.

The Government of Grays Hill is happy that the Government of Greece saw this, and finally surrendered. It was in the best for both of them, as not surrendering would just bring about more blood on both sides, which was unwanted.

Statement from the Government of the Hellenic Republic

I, President Papoulias, hereby announce the glorious union of the Hellenic Republic and the Democratic States of Grays Hill. However, before such a union can take place, the people of Greece need to be assured that their rights, gauranteed by the Greek constiution, will continue to be upheld, and that the Hellenic Republic will be allowed to administer its own affairs by a Government elected by its own people. These terms are non-negotiable.

The rights of the Greek people will be upheld, as they are all over Grays Hill. However, now that Greece will become part of Grays Hill, they will participate in elections on a national level, and local level. Greece will be considered a state of Grays Hill, so, they will directly elect govenors, senators, represenatives and so on and so forth.
