Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Captain Ogilov and his squad were patrolling the city streets, trying to protect as much of the city as he could. Ever since the Wintree Government had collapsed a few weeks ago, the country had declined into Chaos. Dushanbe was controlled by a weak Tajik government headed by Colonel Rhomanov, but the rest of the country was controlled by warring factions. Already, more than 1 million Tajiks had been killed, and many more were close to death. Captain Ogilov wished for the chaos to end, but little did he know, his wish was soon to be answered.

At about 11:00 P.M., the hum of huge planes was heard all over the city. Within 10 minutes, ground-based Anit-Air Batteries were firing at the sky. The response was hundreds of guided missiles, launched from excort jets, blowing up 90% of the batteries. Then, 70,000 soldiers began to descend upon the city. Although the defenders tried to fight back the incoming swarm, they were no match. The Infantry began to swarm through the city, and although many parts of the city surrendered instantly, the Presidential Palace and the surrounding area held out. Tajik infantry opened fire on the assailants, who by now were recognized as Carthaginian Poeni Infantry. The assailants launched Anza rockets at the building as it began to catch on fire. Although the defenders fought valiantly, the building was captured in 4 hours and the Carthaginian Flag was raised over the city.

Offical Statement by the Carthaginian Government

At 2300 hours, the Carthaginian Army attacked the city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to bring order back to that country. The city fell at 0300 hours the next day, with our soldiers taking 400 wounded, 7 missing, and 27 killed. Tajik casualties are in the range of 20,000 , with an estimated 2,000 dead. While we regret that we must use force, Tajikistan must be brought under control.

The Shah looked over reports with a bit of concern. The Carthaginians were being hostile to the Persian Empire as of late, and enroaching upon a province Khosru wanted to eventually incorporate as a tributary was worrying him considerably. The Shah thought they were planning to bring up a long front against the Shah's empire so they could invade in many parts. With the army near the Indus river, that ever so small piece of water dividing Zoroastrian and Islamic empires, on one side Aryan and on the other Dravidian. The Shah wanted to secure Turkestan, and with many cities reduced to rubble and the peoples' corpses still rotting upon stakes and in graves, the settlers were still cleaning up. Samarkand was burned in many spots, with the historical parts intact, minus the tomb of Timur, having been ransacked and burned.

With a bit of industriousness, he began to compose a letter to the TLS government,

We are indeed allies, and you harbor no hostile designs on my kingdom I hope. I do not want a war, wars are the bane of civilized nations and to fight is totally unessescary at the moment.

Dear Shah, why would we wage war against you? We have been nothing but allies for a long time, the last time we waged war was eons ago! A war between us would devastate not only our nations, but the entire region. Not to mention, we have no reason to pick a fight with you.
