I'm considering taking a look at future tech, but I'm not sure.
Could I get some pros/cons for creating a future tech nation?

Well, you have a bit more to RP about. I mean, you can RP about normal modern tech stuff, just the runnings of your country...or you can RP about one of your various colonies...or about space related stuff, zooming through the stars. Theoretically there is more material...
On the other hand, a good RPer will never run out of topics even in modern tech.

Pros: You get to be more creative. Things that wouldn't work in modern tech, like mecha, telepathy, and similar RP topics are viable in future tech. With FT, your imagination and common sense are the only real limits you have.
Cons: Adapting to a specific threat is much harder because of the sheer variety of weapons and other goodies. It's best to just optomize to deal with the major techbases, like Star Wars and Star Trek. You can't really interact with modern tech nations.
